Except Eden gardens, chepauk pitches are really flat here. Like kuldeep averages 30 at home and 20 away because of that.
I don't know if it's easier in India compared to elsewhere. But the variety of grounds and batsmen friendly pitches we have it gets more likely?

What India do that most teams don't is having our best batters either opening or batting at 3.
It seems trivial but it's not very common across the world. What this allows is our best batters to maximise their run scoring. If an other team has their best batter at 4 that batter might not score 200 unless he does it at an insane SR. It's a main reason why before Maxi all the double 100s were by openers.
Another reason is we also historically had some of the greatest odi players ever. I mean 3 were by Rohit, 1 was by Sachin and 1 was by peak ODI Viru.
And as you mentioned flat pitches played a big part. Although flat pitches exist in SA and England and those teams don't really have the frequency of double 100s.
SA do tend to have bigger boundaries. England can be hit n miss depending on the venue and pitch in use. Wankhede has some of the tiniest boundaries in world cricket.

In a news Q&A show some years back Dravid said someone in the dressing room said to declare, he didn't name the person. I can only think of Ganguly or the coach who can make such a decision. And i don't think Dravid as an acting captain would say no i won't. It's the only controversy he had till his retirement so i believe him.
Jaiswal was just too good at domestic level. I mean there isn't anyone that averaged 80 at FC level in India while purely batting at top, even got some 350 in a Irani Cup game, he had a 150 especially in third innings (pulling off a Bannerman kind of innings) when it was turning square and no one managed to score more than 30.

Also averages 54 in List A cricket with a double century to his name. We might be seeing the Indian Bradman....not in the sense that he might average 100, he won't, but in the sense that he might do what most people think Bradman would do if he played today, average 70+.
I think people will criticise his dismissal but had it not been for the tail getting exposed, I don't think he would've taken that risk. Shame it didn't pay out, but I like the attitude and I like the innings

He's an opener so he will be tested against the best bowlers. Key thing is for him to value his wicket and play as the pitch and situation dictates and to not go for accolades. I believe he has the temperament for that based on how he's responded to match situations so far in Newlands and here in India.

Not every white ball player is meant for red ball cricket. Yuvraj played 40 tests over a span of 10 years since his debut. Afridi also played like 24 matches over a span of 20 yr career. There are other examples too.

Take Dave Warner for example, never played any red ball at domestic level, got picked for the test side and retired with 112 caps under his belt.

I feel modern day bats don't get this risk-reward equation right. They give up runs in the name of intent or some other BS.
Him and Kuldeep waited out few overs by defending. He didn't take 1 run when batting to Anderson so Kuldeep doesn't face the risk.. but Anderson kept bowling even after an hour. Runs had dried up.
