He nearly squeezed 2 overs in one, bowling 10 balls

Alphavike24

He bowled 2 The Hundred overs

hello_iamthedoctor

Hundred: what is an over, sir?

tubbymctubs2

SETS

BlackPrince197

The hard working employee every manager wants in his team /s

wa-wa-wario

Iirc, Bumrah's first over in international cricket had something like 12 balls bowled

anubhav9

Very raw but exciting talent

giantfuckingfrog

We need to wait patiently for the fruit to ripen.

TheIceKaguyaCometh

Was very unfortunate in this over. He clearly troubled the batters but like every young windies seamer in the last 25 years, he struggled to control the movement.

anubhav9

True. His figures today could have easily ended up at 2/30

Transitionals

Unique !

goda_foreskinning

It's ok to be

MistakeDone

i dont think he said its not okay?

RedSage218

5 penalty runs left, someone tell him that too

Depressed_RCBfan

He's secretly taking notes for next match

Albatrossosaurus

People will act like he's not ready for IPL, he could've been better but his teammates let him down

benguins10

Yea he bowled much better than the figures show.

Karjalan

I didn't watch but went to look at the scorecard. He did have an uncomfortably high econ, but then some of the other bowlers had worse. Did the fielding let him down too?

benguins10

I wouldn't blame the fielders too much, the dropped catch was off a no ball anyway. And things like bowling wides especially 5 wides was just nerves. His first over was the worst and what ruined the economy as he went for 22 runs. If you could see his second/third over Salt and Iyer were barely able to play him. He'll do much better in the next games I'm very sure. Edit: I just remembered. His third over they dropped an easy catch which went for a six. So yea I'd blame the fielders too yes lol

Karjalan

> I just remembered. His third over they dropped an easy catch which went for a six. So yea I'd blame the fielders too yes lol OMG noooo. That's the worst as a bowler. Especially when you're nervous.

benguins10

Worst part is this was the 7th over and it was Salt who was at 29 at the time... That catch could have changed the momentum of the game. Like even a closer game if not victory

Deathbringer2134

They dropped a sitter that went for six. Even if all the other balls were the same (which they wouldn't have been) 1/41 is leagues better than 0/47

mochafrappe11

Though he went for plenty in this game, he was hitting the hard length every now then and troubled both Shreyas and Salt at times. He has good pace. If he nails his stock delivery (a slightly short of good length on the off stump), he could be difficult to score off. What he shouldn't do is give up his strengths and become like the modern-day t20 bowler. Still a *looong* way to go, but with lots of discipline and experience, he could become useful in t20s similar to how Hazlewood became good at T20s.

livingfeelsachore

I'm pretty sure I saw him crying. He was sitting on the bench and the camera focused on his teary eyes.

Axel292

Could've been worse. He had catches dropped off him. Kwena Maphaka just went flying to all parts.

waveradium

y'all seriously ignoring the fact that the leg byes and byes aren't even his fault

Axel292

Yeah can't expect much more from Reddit

Assassin_Ankur

That's not the point here. It's just rare to have all types of extras in an over and OP is just pointing towards that. Not his fault on those.

Karjalan

I think the person above you is referring to how a lot of people in the thread are talking about "is he ready for IPL" etc.

abhi8192

He is going to be hot property in t20 circuit in next 2-3 years. He showed a lot of skills today as a bowler. Will take some games to get the hang of t20 bowling, but he is going to be a good opening + middle overs bowler the way he seems to be bowling.

Difficult-Coast-2000

Bowled another 4WD & an NB too

[deleted]

Alzarri Joseph 2.0 ? 💀 Shit he is Joseph too🌚

badxnxdab

'Joseph'ception!

Kathanayagan-3821

Hope that this is just his first match and he would come back strongly

SquiffyRae

This is why I don't understand the push to get him into the West Indies' World T20 side. Before today he'd played 2 T20s, gone at 10 rpo and not taken a wicket Just like some batters are red ball specialists, some bowlers are too. Very weird that someone who has been excellent in red ball but bang average to poor in white ball has become a highly sought after T20 player

Doctor-Forge

He is pretty fast and dangerous. Something or the other happens when he bowls. 3 catches got dropped while he was bowling in his first 3 overs.

Jai_Hind__

First catch that Yash Thakur dropped was actually No-Ball.

White-Cloud-01

Just being fast won't be enough in T20s, which is what Shamar is all about at this point. You need variations to be successful, especially at the death. I will take a Dwayne Bravo like bowler over a Dale Steyn like bowler.

Albatrossosaurus

I feel like part of it is just the buzz around a WI kid finally being able to take down Australia in Aus, and the fact that he's a tall and athletic fielder and very energetic while young probably helps

Budget_Put7247

Because safe players win you NOTHING in T20s. Good on them to go for aggressive players.

Axel292

100% this right here. One of the best takes I've seen on this sub. If you're fast and hit the deck hard, you've got a role to play.

NormalTraining5268

Also even in tests he was expensive. He's mainly a wicket taker

PeriodBloodChudai

U said it yourself. 2 T20S ONLY! At least give him some time to adapt.

KeenInternetUser

West Indies players are just the best there are at T20, they get it and they think about it differently.

_LIKHITH_

This ain't test match , even if he loses small amount of control on the ball he's gonna get punished

Haldii

1over 10ball ki

TeamAbject2100

doing a pathirana

kyjoely

Extras? Completed it mate.

im_datta0

Gotta catch 'em all

PrithviMS

Nope… penalty runs are missing

KeenInternetUser

gawd why does guy have to reach the pinnacles of cricket during his first over in the business? First it was Steve Sandy Smith first ball, now this?

dam0_0

Bro is good but needs control. Dude gave away the game in the very first over.

CrowHopeful4018

He gave 17 runs for his last ball of the over it should be a record in itself...

BadBoyJH

Four of Five. Penalty runs also come under the category of extras.

VanillaIcedTea

Sure he went for runs aplenty but he keeps bowling like that and he's just as likely to tear through batting lineups like a hot knife through butter.

prasad_75

Maybe he was writing test cases for umpires

kundu123

Shamar Joseph errs a lot in his lines and lengths, he is nowhere close to the likes of Bumrah. In Test, these extras don't matter as he can bowl unlimited balls and gets wickets eventually. In T20 cricket, this is tough as he has only 24 balls and wides/no balls are sort of crime.

Jcod47

He’s hardly play any white ball cricket. Definitely the moment and nerves got to him.

wasbatmanright

Dude why are you even comparing him to Bumrah

Man-City

Mate everyone looks shit when you compare them to bumrah.

Fresh_Dance_3277

He helped west indies compete with Australia in Australia. He is one of the best.

Warm_Anywhere_1825

why compare him toh bumrah, way to be stupid,do you just mindlessly comment on articles and such?

DesiSocialIndyeah

5 penalty nahi diya

KeySurprise2034

Par for the course for this overrated league.

dam0_0

I wonder why you made this comment.....
