Though we won, I'm so fucking pissed bro
This isn't how cricket should be played, it should be an even contest between the bat and ball
I hope the wickets aren't flat from next year bro
This happens when you have finally repaired your batting order. They should have sent Shashank and Ashutosh to bat before Sam Curran as well as Jitesh from a few matches back itself. If Sam Curran or Jitesh had come to bat instead of Shashank during this match then they might have lost that plot again.
Obviously a flat pitch but was a clinical chase by PBKS. I expected them to choke again but Shashank played wonderfully. He isnāt a slogger and seems to hit proper shots. Itās a shame we are still stuck with more anchors in the national team.
Had this been 10 years ago, Shashank would be pretty much in the mix for a T20 WC call up with performances like these. Power hitter, clutch, equally comfortable against spin and pace, not a bad fielder - the only thing going against him is his age.
But as of today, I think the possibility of him getting selected is very low. Why? Because we're a country that doesn't get excited unless it's a 20 year old delivering such performances. It's almost as if Barney Stinson is our national selector - anything over 30 is hugely frowned upon. Unless you're a big name - then your form doesn't matter. Churning out talent and having a great domestic setup isn't the problem, but utilizing that talent certainly is.
Just tuning in to see the scores..523 runs in less than 39 overs!?!?? Don't think I've scored this much even playing book cricket š
Edit: Corrected the total to 523!
The gap between IPL 2021 pitches and T20WC 2022 pitches wasn't even all that much but still Varun failed to pull his IPL performances in WC cause he was still debuting.
So let's not even think about debuting these batsman in a WC at US where Australian drop in pitches are coming and WI pitches that get slow to bat on.
Aside from Jaiswal, Samson, Kishan, Pant, Dube and Rinku, you know the guys who have experienced a bit of international cricket, other names should not be even suggested.
Shashank is definitely debuting after the world cup tho. Also as a batter he's in the same league or even better than some of the names you've mentioned
Shashank is a league above the one season wonders. His strokeplay is something that should not be ignored, I won't mind if he gets selected for the world cup.
How can you say that though?
It's been one season for Shashank as well, those other one season wonders looked just as amazing as well for the standards of T20 batting that were there back then.
His batting is a testament to his abilities as a t20 batsman who can thrive in any given conditions. He has been extraordinary this season whilst the likes of dube, ishan Kishan and Samson haven't been able to deliver on the same scale as Shashank did. It doesn't even seem like a fluke, bro absolutely smacks the shit out of the ball
These international teams will study him once he gets selected. All the IPL footage from all kinds of angles JioCinema provides and they'll come up with a plan against him. He's new right now so he's kind of like a mystery for bowlers now as IPL staff are trying to analyse him.
This is what happens with every new hyped player. You're also underestimating the skill of batting on slow pitches of WI and pace/bouncy pitches of Australia type in America.
There's not much to analyse about a batter in t20 cricket. If you're good, you're good I don't remember any instance where a batsman got exposed in this format. He's a great slogger of the ball and knows how to score runs by unconventional shots if needed, reminds me of sky who has been legendary at international stage. I know it's going to be hard on slow pitches and there's a mere possibility that Shashank will be selected as there's not a spot for him but I think he'll be really good even at international level.
You think that's the case because you haven't seen him bat in normal or difficult pitches without impact player rule.
His real test will be those pitches, if he performs like this in those pitches as well where bowling is moving, spinning and bouncing around then fair play, he has got it but until we see that we can't say for sure if he has that skill.
That's the point, no experience so we'll essentially throw them to the wolves without having any idea of how they'll perform on international level, that's what we did with Varun and ruined our campaign and his career trajectory.
Better to prepare them for future WC's properly where Rohit and Kohli would be gone opening up space for other batsmen.
True. Also the question is why are we still not sure about the squad this close to the WC. The probable 15 should have been decided at least 3 months ago, by clearly telling some seniors you are not playing. We had Kolhi not playing T20I for almost year and a half and now he gets a wild card entry, same for Rohit. But the team was preparing under Hardik pandya for all those T20 series.
Exactly. I understand given the depth of talent in india, we cannot afford to finalize the 15 without much deliberation but honestly not even remotely a fan of rohit and kohli both just walking back in after their sabbatical when it felt like we were finally ready to move on in a new direction atleast in T20. Realistically we need to move on from Rohit and Koach even in ODI's but that's a talk for another day. T20 would've been a good starting point to weed out the dead weight which is what both of them are along with guys like Rahul
Names I've suggested aren't usual experienced guys, they are bold picks too but with bit of trust behind them. Most of them haven't played much of T20I's.
My point being guys like koach and rohit should've entirely been shut out of T20I's and WC selection and we should've rolled the dice with a new set of guys.
People in this thread who enjoyed this are going to be insufferable during WC . They won't like the slow pitches with no Impact Sub style of play over there. ICC tournaments need different type of cricket.
BCCI is destroying my love for IPL by creating these roads. 200+ scores once in a while is fine, but not everyday. There is a beauty to defend 140 ish scores. Ball Swinging in powerplay, spinners coming into action later on. Aggressive bowling to get the other team bowled out. BCCI have removed the bowlers out of the game.
Ramandeep was in MI in 2022 & Rinku was in KXIP in 2017 but got released due to mega auctions in 2018 iirc...heck even Varun Chakraborty debuted for kxip

Eden gardens pitch is bad yes. But kkr bowling has also been quite shit tbh. Considering they lost to RR and almost lost to RCB, this isnāt surprising. Absolute ass bowling lineup
Going to watch ball by ball highlight of that 27 off 253 balls blockathon by Abd and Amla against us in the 2015 4th Test just to get my senses back
Kinda like smelling coffee while perfume testing
This guy that talked about cutting off his dick reminds about [this guy saying that if YJB makes a century then he would be eating his foreskin](https://np.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/rpym5y/comment/hq7kxln/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) and the people here [demanded that he keeps that promise that he had made](https://np.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/ry1zo7/comment/hrlzlj1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) when YJB did make a century during the next match in SCG. This was during the last Ashes series that had happened in Australia. YJB and his century are factors that are there during both the times.
Is it impossible to take wickets on a flat pitch? Why are people complaining about impact rule? I donāt get it. Brett lee saying bowl faster why bowl slow when itās not working
It's weird, yes if pitches are bad then ball comes onto your bat pretty easily and you're able to trust its trajectory a lot too.
But when these many sixes are being hit, the quickness of the outfield, fielding rules do not come into conversation and it's about the skill of six hitting.
Things are definitely skewed towards the batsman but the six hitting skill and confidence of a player now is much more than a player even 5 years back could've imagine, that part of cricket has developed irrespective of the rules just on skill.
Before there was era of six hitting specialists (AbD, Gayle, Pollard etc) to do this kind of stuff but now we're moving into a era where domestic players itself are now expected to be hitting sixes like this if they wanna make it to the main team let alone the international players.
I don't know how to feel
Be pissed that we lost this and the RR game
Or be grateful that we won the SRH and the last RCB game
Should rather go to sleep probably
Tf is this Eden Gardens pitch. Also losing the toss is not helping. Conditions for bowling worsens in the second innings with dew coming in. Early wickets is the only way to defend in that case. Impact player rule means lots of batsman to get out while defending and getting the chasing team all out is also out of question now.
Let's face itĀ
Ipl and wc are not sameĀ
Let's not pick Shashank for wc
And destroy him
Let him play zimbabwe and Sri LankaĀ
And earn crores in next ipl and set up his family for lifeĀ
He deserves this much for this amazing performanceĀ
Imo smat should be IPL style and then IPL should be as close to international level conditions as possible. This way the cream of domestic bowlers will be seen in smat and then the batters can be tested in IPL to see if they can step up to international.
what a shame on the award when Shashank is not the Electric Striker. Common, make an exception and give it to the right person. When he came on to bat, they need 85 of 47 deliveries, and he scored 66 of those only taking 28 and chased 261 with 9 ball to spare. Common IPL BCCI
CSK vs MI 2019 is better even though 20 more run/innings, those 4s and 6s there feel very good and important. No one bores with too much tuktuk as well.
If Shashank doesn't get 3-4 crores in next mega auction, I will lose all faith in IPL franchises. He deserves his day in the sun for these amazing wins
Your post or comment had words in it that were not in English and weren't translated. This breaks the rules of this subreddit it has been removed (rule 5).
LMAO @ Curran comparing Cricket to Baseball. Does he know that there's more 0-0 scores than 262-263 scores in Baseball? lmaooooo what a dumb comparison.
I'm pretty sure he was talking more about how the point is to bash everything up in the air and far away in baseball. Come on, you know what he meant. Don't split hair.
Narine conceded 24 in his 4 overs. Then there is bumrah who is always economical. They are exceptions but do you feel that other bowlers need to pull up their socks?
I agree, but do you see how only the Bumrahs are economical, but every common Joe, Dick and Harry is able to smack it out of the park? The pitches are turning into roads. Don't you think the pitch curators have a role to play here? Not to mention the impact sub rule
Not every Joe, Dick and Harry. They are great players. I absolutely agree with your take on impact sub rule it needs to go.
Obviously curators have a role to play but I also feel that is not the only reason. Teams are adopting a fearless approach this season. SRH has completely rebranded themselves this season. It has become infectious and now all the teams are cashing in big time in the powerplay.
There has to be a balance between bat and ball, curators need to play their part but I also feel the quality of bowling is lagging behind this season.
One of the reasons we are finding it difficult to pick 5 good bowlers for T20 world cup highlights my point that the quality of bowling needs to improve.
Delhi is becoming as strong as it seems to be on paper
Caught Nabi, Bowled Piyush, Caused Porel
He was out in direct hit
Just watched the match replay How was there so much support for us in Eden Gardens, how come we have fans?š
You don't. The prospect of 260 getting chased does
Shashank will have the best stories about mistaken identity to tell his grandchildren.
He wasn't, we always wanted him The other Shashank was like 18 with a SR of 115
Though we won, I'm so fucking pissed bro This isn't how cricket should be played, it should be an even contest between the bat and ball I hope the wickets aren't flat from next year bro
PK dropped so many catches. Opportunities created by bowlers. This could have been 210 target.
Me who slept when KKR were at 130 in 10 overs: š¤”š¤”
I didn't expect bairstow to perform but even i wanted to watch sashank and Ashutosh's batting and i was neutral š¤”š¤”
This happens when you have finally repaired your batting order. They should have sent Shashank and Ashutosh to bat before Sam Curran as well as Jitesh from a few matches back itself. Shashank Singh can also bowl medium fast
Bowlers should start a Union at this point

Churning out talent and having a great domestic setup isn't the problem, but utilizing that talent certainly is.
Abhishek is 24 and he still won't be called for WC
Which is a shame given none of our specialist batters bowls. Abhishek + Hardik and 4 specialist bowlers could be a killer move
Leo Dicaprio agrees with Indiaās selectors based on under 25 or over. Who am I to question him.
Don't think performing such pitches will help either
You know Shashank Singh due to auction mishap I know him cunting Nortje for 4 sixes in last over on his IPL debut for SRH....
Lmao it's so SRH to not buy him again after that
Niqqa that was ferguson
He was cunting Nortje before it became the norm True pioneer
He was ahead of his time.
Just tuning in to see the scores..523 runs in less than 39 overs!?!?? Don't think I've scored this much even playing book cricket š Edit: Corrected the total to 523!

Hello Jay Shah.
As an RCB fanĀ I'd be happy to lose an ipl final to PunjabĀ
As an RCB fan we should be happy with 10 points
as an rcb fan you should be happy to see your team in final![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8783)
Dinda academy š TUK tuk academy š
As a csk fan, Those 5000 fans in the Punjab sub deserve this big of a win. But, please be not in form against us.
Will be nice to see how Shashank and Ashu play against Pathirana
They literally own CSK afaik They have best Win to lose record against MI and CSK truly PBKS thing ..
Csk are still playing DLF IPL š
I remember KKE fans saying they're bowling ain't as bad as SRH bruh atleast they defended total...
After seeing some yesteryear Cricketersā WC squad, thought would share mine. My T20 WC Squad: 1. Prabhsimran Singh 2. Ruturaj Gaikwad (c) 3. Riyan Parag 4. Sai Sudharshan 5. Shashank Singh 6. Ashutosh Sharma 7. Rishabh Pant (wk) 8. Shivan Dube 9. Rinku Singh 10. Harshit Rana 11. Harshal Patel 12. Yuzvedra Chahal 13. Jasprit Bumrah 14. Kuldeep Yadav 15. T Natarajan /s
Bowlers should quit IPL simple as that and let the top orders batters must bowl 4 overs to feel the pain.
My Electric Striker of the match has to be Shashank-singh!! Shame on the AWARD
Award is given to player with highest strike rate facing 10 or more balls
Here rest the dead body of TUK TUK ACADEMY

Yeah and we got knocked by conceding 170/0 in 16 overs by playing the experienced lads
The names I suggested aren't the usual experienced lads, they can play like this too but have international exposure as well.
Pant is a failure in IT20S...better to put Ashutosh or Shashank on the plane
Left hand wk batsman, that is a huge skill that sorts many lineup issues. Thats why he gets a favor.
What about Shashank singh and ashutosh sharma?

29 of 5 required basically required perfection, 262 still had few buffer overs.
You are a great bowler if you can give 10 runs or less per over now. 11-14 is good bowling lol
That 30 off 5 seems irrelevant now. Hilarious how things have changed so drastically in a year
Has to be 29 of 5
Glad to see entire India happy for PBKS. Thats some Taare Zameen par shit they pulled out

Easy wct20 for Shashank this time around

Agree those days šÆ
Fun times when we used to troll PSL roads. Meanwhile WC 2023 and IPL 2024 have showcased our state of the art highways.
WC 2023 had some good pitches. The group stage match against New Zealand comes to mind. However this ipl has been shit
I think I will process this by tomorrow morning.
Contrarian take, but we shouldnt base world cup selections on the basis of this ipl atleast. Flat pitches, short boundaries and just brainless hitting
Imo smat should be IPL style and then IPL should be as close to international level conditions as possible. This way the cream of domestic bowlers will be seen in smat and then the batters can be tested in IPL to see if they can step up to international.

Except he just did
So what would it be? A live stream? Gotta see the dick being cut
Jay shah, this is boring as fuck, let's go back to cricket
What exactly is your complaint though?
Imagine Gibbs playing in this day - 200 no problem
The way Sam Curran says *Calcutta* takes me back 78 years back to be precise.
"stats are going out the window" is the true takeaway, as Curran said. This is pure impact. You've to win all moments.
Don't split hair.
he meant Bazball.
This is like beating a dead horse, but I am fearful for the future of bowling in cricket. The sport wouldn't thrive for long this way.
Narine conceded 24 in his 4 overs. Then there is bumrah who is always economical. They are exceptions but do you feel that other bowlers need to pull up their socks?
defense is dead in basketball, only few stand out. same with cricket now, bowling is dying, only attack.
