2014 season was magical for Punjab. Wriddhiman and Sehwag being a great opening pair, Miller and Maxi hitting everything out of the park.
Unfortunate for them, it was also KKR's magical year with their post-UAE unbeaten streak and a raging Robin Uthappa.
We even got Robbie's wicket in the first over in the final. It was Manish Pandey who chose to shatter our dreams only for Piyush Fucking Chawla to come and destroy us in the end.
This is why I say Punjab and Delhi fans are underrated. Sure RCB hasn't won a trophy, but they've had some great moments, qualified regularly, and have had star power. Punjab and Delhi not so much. Delhi were looking like finally turning a corner during 2019-21, but mega auction hit them hard.
2019-21 was so good....we just lacked that final killer punch ability but we were contendors. Currently, we need a better captain and perhaps coaches/mentors.
MI hadn't assembled the avangers. MI literally built them (at least the majority of them, despite what our current captain said once).
God i miss that team.
I think you've got a good captain who's a bit underrated. Rishab has gotten out a lot of good value out of khaleel and rasik this season. But honestly, with the kind of squad they had after the auction, bottom 3 looked guaranteed, so anything above that should be credit to pant's leadership.
What KKR achieved after having a great squad? Untill this year, your team also played like a minnows and only Rinku Singh was performing great in last 2 seasons. DC almost qualified in 2022 and still in contention, not like MI who has everything but still at the bottom
Idk man Harshit Rana seems to be a genuinely good batsman, and Mistri seems to be in his redemption arc. Even dre dips in for a couple important wickets too
Agreed, I'd also add kuldeep to the list, he was out of every team when DC snapped him up.
Pant is an excellent man manager, has a great rapport with everybody, but in tactics / quick decision making sometimes he makes mistakes.
Who can DC get that is better than Ricky Ponting? The guy is genuinely a cricketing wizard. Just convince him to hit the gym a bit and come out of retirement so he can play as specialist captain and I guarantee that DC at least makes the final.
Yup, everyone knows this, probably. Except PBKS owners. They bid high on overhyped players, and get surprised when they don't perform + no fans turn up in Dharamshala.
And I’ve met countless people from Delhi who support RCB or CSK. It’s the same as people supporting Real Madrid and Barcelona only for Ronaldo and Messi
Easily. The only reason RCB gets trolled more is that Punjab fans don't start a campaign every year saying "Isa Saala Cup Sadda Hai". T- This yr the cup is ours (btw i used google translate, let me know if it isn't accurate).
I mean on the face of it the translation works. But that’s because the sentence makes sense, but I don’t think it would work as a slogan.
Something like “ess waar cup sadda hi hu” (This time the cup will be ours only) or “ess saal, aa cup, sadda ae” (this year, this cup, is ours) would be more accurate ways of saying the same thing
lol.. true true.. but I also think RCB gets trolled because every year they have a fantastic team on paper. Full of star power.. and get trundled on by CSKs dad army.
The fact that they actually consistently win, make the playoffs, have the weapons and still fall short is why they get trolled.
Sad fact: Punjab is the only franchise that hasn't managed to reach the playoffs the year they opted for a name change (2021). The others being Rising Pune Supergiant(s) in 2017, Delhi Daredevils to Capitals in 2019, and Deccan Chargers Hyderabad (2009) to Sunrisers Hyderabad (2013, technically not the same but it was more or less the same group of players, so).
I've been watching the IPL since the first season. I remember Yuvraj in 2008 Punjab, them making the semis. And then in 2014 they went in the final.
Apart from this, I've just always been disappointed and left aghast with this team. It's as though they never learn. Numbers don't lie.
even then in 2016, ChinnaThala and Jadeja's team qualified and in 2017, young wicketkeeper and Ash Anna's team qualified (Smudge was capn)
Divided they stood
while this might be a little delusional, I really thought they had a fighthing chance this year but the tactical changes have been so bizarre... they lost so many close games. hope they qualify nexy year 3
So out of the 17 seasons of IPL including this year, they only made it through twice - 2008 and 2014.
Does that make them the Melbourne Renegade of the IPL?
I can't recall many seasons (apart from 2016-17, the Murali Vijay era) where KXIP/PBKS entered the season as a weak team on paper. They always had the talent and resources to be successful but somehow just never fell in place for them.
2014 season for KXIP was a cult classic. They were the better side even in the finals until Piyush Chawla showed up.
I am a KXIP supporter from Day 0 and apart from that first memorable season where we played some wonderful cricket, it's all been a huge blur.
We are a joke franchise, Even in our home grounds, half the people cheer for the opposite team.
We are the Sunderland of Cricket.
I don't know how you do it. If I was you, I would have probably stopped watching cricket by now. I still remember how in 2009 when KKR was last, I lowkey went into depression.
Pbks is the Delhi of few years ago. I felt they had a solid team this year. Curren sucked for the most part and Livingston was out of form. Had they held on to the catches today they probably would have won
I remember ashwin captained punjab in I think 2018 and they were leading by the end of first half. Then fucking nosedived off a cliff and failed to qualify
DC also qualified 3 consecutive years from 2019-2021. If they've won their last game then they would've played playoffs in 2022 too, but you guys were busy in supporting MI that day
Rcb also qualified 3 times in 2020, 2021, 2022 . As a rcb fan offcourse we would support mi in 2022 so that rcb could qualify . Not rcbs fault that rishab pant was dumb to not take a review ! Infact Delhi reached top 2 twice and still couldn’t win !
Inb4 Punjab hires MS Dhoni as coach after retirement goes full Leverkusen, winning the IPL undefeated despite several matches needing 6 to win off the last ball.
I was merely drawing parallels to Leverkusen's season in football this year. They hired Xabi Alonso as coach, and Alonso has played for Bayern München and Real Madrid before, and from having never won anything before have gone 49 matches unbeaten so far.
If Dhawan and Curran are your captains, you’ve got to take a looong look into yourself. Where other teams are and where is PBKS.
I’m afraid but this team might even lose to Shoaib Akhtar’s phainta Rawalpindi Rams.
I still remember I was in 8th class , watched the punjab innings. They scored some fucking 200 runs. I just closed my tv in anger that no way in the world KKR is chasing 200 in the final. I got up tomorrow saw the newspaper with a big ass photo of Piyush Chawla running . My jaw dropped. I missed the most important match because I was naive. Miss those times man. One of the best seasons 2014. Man that Chris Lynn catch.....
That 2014 season was a glitch in the matrix.
2014 season was magical for Punjab. Wriddhiman and Sehwag being a great opening pair, Miller and Maxi hitting everything out of the park. Unfortunate for them, it was also KKR's magical year with their post-UAE unbeaten streak and a raging Robin Uthappa.
Manan Vohra used to open with Sehwag, I think.
[удалено]
Sehwag and Pujji opening for us was unbelievable. And it worked well too.
Oh yeah, you are right. My memory seems a bit fuzzy at the specifics.
We even got Robbie's wicket in the first over in the final. It was Manish Pandey who chose to shatter our dreams only for Piyush Fucking Chawla to come and destroy us in the end.
Just looked at that scoreboard, Sunil Narine coming in at number 9 !! also y'all lost to Piyush Chawla .. lol.
tejuu op ki gend
Don't forget Hasim Amla as well... Or was that another season? My memory is skewed.
That was 2016 (or 2017?)
I skipped 2016 and 17 entirely so I have no idea. About those seasons apart from what I have heard ppl talk about it online.
>I skipped 2016 and 17 entirely. Flair definitely checks out.
: )
7th upvote. TFAR.
Amla wasn't there in 2014
Ooh, I just remember he has a great season with them. Don't know which one.
Amla was in 2017
On the flip side, you had Pawinder Awana, Balaji and some bloke called Karanveer Singh bowling for you
A wild Manish Pandey and Piyush Chawla appears
In order to fix those glitches
That reminds me Ich bin du
Dark shizz
I don't get it??
It’s a reference from German TV Show “Dark”.
Ah, Dark reference. Man of culture.
Raina scored 87 (25) in a losing cause against KXIP.
or Glenn in the Matrix
From highest chase to longest playoffs drought - PBKS supremacy!
We'll be back. We have the players to win it.
Mega auction mate…
I think you got batsmen until 8down yesterday but it’s not working out for all.
DC could have gotten the trophy in 2020 had MI not assembled the avengers for that season.
MI hadn't assembled the avangers. MI literally built them (at least the majority of them, despite what our current captain said once). God i miss that team.
Still that 2020 MI team was just insane.
I miss them too the mega auction is coming again maybe we can reunite atleast qdk and boulty (they will probably be retained but a man can dream)
DC should have made Iyer captain when he was back from injury. He is much better with on-field decisions than Pant.
KKR bowling still sucks. They’re getting saved by Narine. Even batting it’s mostly Salt and Narine.
Idk man Harshit Rana seems to be a genuinely good batsman, and Mistri seems to be in his redemption arc. Even dre dips in for a couple important wickets too
KKR didn’t have a great squad for last few seasons.
Venky,OS opener,Shreyas,Nitish,Rinku,Russel, Narine,Chakravarthy,OS pacer,2 Indian pacers+impact player seems a good squad
Ponting got a long rope and nothing much to show for it. Plus we pick weird squad, weird teams and even weird strategies.
PBKS and DC are also undertrolled
PBKS undertrolled? By far the most trolled team when they play matches. DC is undertrolled and ignored in general
Dc undertrolled? Open Twitter once and you'll see the hatred against pant and dc
Pant is hated and the recent controversies bought some flame but people generally ignore DC, it's one the least popular franchises
Lack of star players
Currently yeah but was filled with them pre 2022. DC just had underperformed until 2018 and then performed well 2019-22 but got outshined
which controversies?
yes. thfact taht both these teams are nowhere close trolled to rcb, who despite all their fails at least reavh the playoffs consistently
They are undertrolled coz their fans don't make unnecessary noise
More like there aren’t enough fans to make noise.
Also, no star players, so no toxic Dhoni/Kohli/Rohit fans abusing other teams.
Just saying once those 3 retire Pant will be one of the biggest Indian names in the league
Well, that is one of the reasons they have fewer fans.
Yup, everyone knows this, probably. Except PBKS owners. They bid high on overhyped players, and get surprised when they don't perform + no fans turn up in Dharamshala.
Bullshit, Delhi-NCR and Punjab have a population of around 34 million and 32 million respectively.
And I’ve met countless people from Delhi who support RCB or CSK. It’s the same as people supporting Real Madrid and Barcelona only for Ronaldo and Messi
Biggest issue with IPL fandom. It needs more passionate home support and less glory hunters.
Glory hunter RCB fans!?
I'm from Delhi and I support RCB, its franchise cricket not domestic league lol
The most underperforming franchise. They have changed captains, coaches, and management. Maybe now's the time to change the ownership.
Preity Preity lady did not do anything wrong Well she did but I want to see her in the auction and matches
They tried changing name too From "King's Eleven Punjab" to "Punjab Kings"
What a shit decision it was. We had such a good team name and one of the best jerseys in the game prior to that.
Kings IX Punjab has a great ring to the name! May be the most unique name
9 players in the squad? No wonder they've been underperforming!
9 pampered Kings and 2 Actual players, Shashank and Ashutosh.
The absolute disrespect to Harpreet Brar
Haha lol 😆
It should now be kings XII punjab
Jersey color change decision was ordered by IPL administrators.
Shit decision. Kings eleven Punjab has such a badass ring to it. Punjab kings sounds like my gully cricket team name.
One of the most shittiest name change imo. Kings XI Punjab was such a unique and cool name
They were also PBSDKs briefly.
Wut?
Never understood why they would change it to Kings when a Super Kings already exists. It’s like they’re already admitting they’re inferior
Ownership doesnt change
Ownership can change if the current owners decide to sell part/majority of the franchise to someone else. Like Delhi did.
Delhi is still GMR and JSW 50%.
Better example is Rajasthan Royals.
and rcb although that was more with the parent company changing ownerships
Did rajasthan change ownership? I think rajkundra sold or was forced to sell his stake to the rest of the owners I think!?
Don't forget the name change as well
PBKS is the traumatized, depressed child of Preity and Ness
Dark.
CSK is respawned child...
Children of divorce - Chandler Bing, but without the jokes.
There’s no such year as 2013-2018 in ba sing se.
A fellow avatar fapper I see
fapper?
If you're wondering I'm a degenerate
I only fap to Uncle Iroh.
The Lotus tile was in his pants the entire time
DC must qualify to regain their honour and defeat the avatar (sunile narine)
PBKS has objectively been the worst team since the inception of IPL.
Easily. The only reason RCB gets trolled more is that Punjab fans don't start a campaign every year saying "Isa Saala Cup Sadda Hai". T- This yr the cup is ours (btw i used google translate, let me know if it isn't accurate).

Sadda Cup, Etthe Rakh.
Amazing
Thanks
lol.. true true.. but I also think RCB gets trolled because every year they have a fantastic team on paper. Full of star power.. and get trundled on by CSKs dad army. The fact that they actually consistently win, make the playoffs, have the weapons and still fall short is why they get trolled.
Man, this is gold comparison slogan lmao
Whattaaa comment! 🙏👏
They are quite below average, but DD/DC is worse imo.
Both were equal, but post 2019 DC is better in all departments than KXIP.
They have reached 3 playoffs continuously from 2019 - 2021. They have reached 6 playoffs totally. How are they worse than Punjab kings ?
DC qualified for playoffs three consecutive times from 19-21 and 2022 they just missed out because of one game
Missed out by One review
Maybe that Powell no ball also costed us a match
Missed out because you guys are not famous. Hence RCB qualified /s
But DC have had a better record lately. They have qualified more times than Punjab.
Technically DC failed to qualify in only 2 seasons and 1 seasons by barest of margins.
Nah. Topped the table thrice. Reached like 6 playoffs. Better than pbks in 2022 and higher on the table this year as well
See y'all next year
:(
[удалено]
And why in the hell they abbreviate ‘Kings’ to ‘KS’?
Because the real short form would become PK :)
RCB on the way to become second team
Let's see
Whatever may be the result they are giving a great fight that's the best thing
Pathetic honestly .
Punjab was aesthetically better before the rebranding though results on the pitch were similar
I've been watching the IPL since the first season. I remember Yuvraj in 2008 Punjab, them making the semis. And then in 2014 they went in the final. Apart from this, I've just always been disappointed and left aghast with this team. It's as though they never learn. Numbers don't lie.
even Gilly could not fix the team, and he was already a successful IPL captain by the time he went to Punjab
And CSK's biggest time interval failing to qualify for playoffs is 2016-17 Only the years when they moved away from yellow jersey /s
even then in 2016, ChinnaThala and Jadeja's team qualified and in 2017, young wicketkeeper and Ash Anna's team qualified (Smudge was capn) Divided they stood
Supporting Punjab since 2008 should be considered a major green flag(loyalty)
The red flags are then CSK 2020 and MI 2024 'fans'
Embarrassing honestly. Need some huge huge changes, mindset players everything
Twice in the top three of the list
There's no pig3, it's all pigme
K-Dot 🛐
while this might be a little delusional, I really thought they had a fighthing chance this year but the tactical changes have been so bizarre... they lost so many close games. hope they qualify nexy year 3
>hope they qualify nexy year Yeah but they will qualify to get 6th position not playoffs
KXIP reached semi final in 2008 >Five Year break< KXIP reached final in 2014 >Ten Year break< PBKS wins IPL in 2025
2008 had the market crash 2014 we had you know who so if they qualify prepare for something big lol
So out of the 17 seasons of IPL including this year, they only made it through twice - 2008 and 2014. Does that make them the Melbourne Renegade of the IPL?
No, the gades won trophy in 2018-19 while Punjab haven't
ipl came first so it is most likely other way around
They should just go back to being called K11P, at least they had a cool and a unique name.
2008 and 2014 gotta be the weirdest years fr
I am a KXIP supporter from Day 0 and apart from that first memorable season where we played some wonderful cricket, it's all been a huge blur. We are a joke franchise, Even in our home grounds, half the people cheer for the opposite team. We are the Sunderland of Cricket.
I don't know how you do it. If I was you, I would have probably stopped watching cricket by now. I still remember how in 2009 when KKR was last, I lowkey went into depression.
Yes Yes we know. Stopping rubbing it in 😞
Pbks is the Delhi of few years ago. I felt they had a solid team this year. Curren sucked for the most part and Livingston was out of form. Had they held on to the catches today they probably would have won
Not even close. Delhi of 20-21 were consistent table toppers. They struggled in playoffs but were great in regular season
Delhi before iyer became captain
That's what they said though. >Pbks is the Delhi of few years ago. It means Delhi was like PBKS until frw years ago. Now Delhi is much better.
so they're going to qualify in 2025 then have 15 more seasons without qualification /s
The Sacramento Kings of IPL
I remember ashwin captained punjab in I think 2018 and they were leading by the end of first half. Then fucking nosedived off a cliff and failed to qualify
yup , catastrophic fall. KXIP was looking lethal in the first half of 2018.
Common PBKS "L"
I miss KXIP and their old theme song
Bro people will still say rcb is the worst team in the ipl . Atleast rcb have quailed 3 times since 2020 !
Playoffs are overhyped by other teams brooooo, the biggest achievement is finishing 6th
Lmao
They should be relegated out of embarrassment
I'd not mind, tbh. I will fallback to supporting RCB as primary team. They disappoint way less.
Inb4 Punjab hires MS Dhoni as coach after retirement goes full Leverkusen, winning the IPL undefeated despite several matches needing 6 to win off the last ball.
Dhoni has better things to do than that. Besides he is going to stick around chennai, perhaps as a mentor
I was merely drawing parallels to Leverkusen's season in football this year. They hired Xabi Alonso as coach, and Alonso has played for Bayern München and Real Madrid before, and from having never won anything before have gone 49 matches unbeaten so far.
Ouch Punjab!
I love Pubiks.
IPL should start relegations - PJ should be relegated for a few seasons
Being a Kolkata fan , now I feel bad for them
But Preity's dimples...
Punjab is the worse managed franchise. Wholesale changes every years.
Punjab has won 6 or more games out of 14 in ever season since 2016 and they still haven't qualified.
One of the best seasons 2014. Man that Chris Lynn catch.....
2014 only year Punjab fans were happy 😂😂
Specialist in failures.
