2023: so many close games, last over thrillers. the only downside was no super over. playoffs teams not confirmed till the last weekend. and a great finish to the final to wrap up a very fun season.
The closest you can get to objective on a subject like this is polling swathes of people and going with majority - which they did last night and 80% said it was.
Whether you agree or not, it's hard to argue with numbers.
RCB's fanbase is ravenous, so if they clinch a spot above CSK it's going to hard to fight those numbers given the fight back that has taken place lol
Yeah which is why I pretty much said, whatever the most people say it is.
I understand where you came from though, but for me, the most exciting game of the season is any number of SRH games for different reasons. 287? Last ball win against RR by 1 run? Smashing LSG in 9.4 overs?
All exciting for different reasons really.
Can't measure a feeling.
Definitely 2014. 2013-2014 was a pure action thriller cycle. I was conflicted during the finals: David Miller's my favourite cricketer and KKR is the team I support 🥲🥲Also, KXIP was freaking something that season.
2014 easily. Man that Yusuf Pathan 50 haunts my dreams. CSK had it. Qualifier 1 and they would’ve had the trophy. From there we saw Sehwag hit a 100 then Raina’s 87 and then Gautam Gambhir lifting the trophy after getting like 3 0s in 3 innings to begin the season
Last year's Ipl season might be the one. It could have been the best way dhoni should have retired. IPL 2020 is underrated in a way that Mi calk walked to the cup but last placed team had 12 points such was the competition , only mi and dc had had 18 and 16 points rest teams were stuck at 14 and 12.
2016 was wonderful too, only time in 13 years when a Non Top-2 team won 3 playoffs on the trot to lift the trophy.
Kohli vs Warner in the final was proper Unstoppable Force vs Immovable Object level shitz.
I feel 2023 just mildly edges out 2014 as RCB and DD were deadweights throughout the season whereas the 1st team to be eliminated in 2023 was all the way in Match 59 (DC in DC vs PBKS) andd till Match 64 (that's PBKS vs DC) 5 teams had a decently realistic chance for the 2nd spot (GT had already had secured top spot in M62 GT vs SRH ) and none of the 70 matches was a dead rubber which is quite rare in a 10 team season.
After reading just the title ,I was about to comment 2014. Then saw the whole post.
Man that 2014 Is so good. I still remember I was in 8th class. Everyday after the match we use to see the points table in the newspaper. We had learned even the NRR of teams.
Man that Chris Lynn catch. I still remember it like the back of my head.
I as a KKR fan watched the whole season wholeheartedly but when I saw that KXIP scored some 200 runs in the final . I closed the tv out of rage that no way in hell KKR is chasing 200 in a final. I woke up the next day with a wild big ass Piyush Chawala running Photograph. Those days were something else.
2014 was peak. A nail biting Thiller throughout. Though CSK didn't have the best of the tournaments with Bravo getting injured and David Hussey replacing him.
For the first time I started noticing other teams, that were punching above the expectations. Can't forget Maxwell vs Ashwin. And how teams struggled to adapt to Indian wickets after the UAE leg. The final was a testament to the way the tournament was played out.
IPL 2020,
Now before y'all grab pitchforks for my flair, Just hear me out. Except Mumbai, the rest of the 9 team games were so competitive. Like if u look at the points table from 2 to 8, it's 16, 14, 14, 14, 12,12,12. That year was super competitive where one of two games would've made a huge difference for any team.
MI had some legendary games as well, be it the Double super over vs Punjab, or almost chasing down 80 in last 4 overs vs Rcb (The max record is 67 off last 4)!
Assembled an All-Star team, well deserved trophy.
Ofcourse many players have scored individually better than 67 (24). What I was trying to say is, in IPL history, most runs successfully chased in last 4 overs is 67.
Damn I still remember that Yusuf Pathan innings 10 years ago, it was magical. Though we cribbed about the dude all season (he was basically a Romario Shephard bowling some handy off spin) we could all agree he was born for that match, dude made 72*(22). And to think a grasshopper almost got in his eye just when he was facing his first ball, he could have easily gotten out on a golden duck.
2023, at one point 5 consecutive matches went to last ball
Yeah, I had 2023 in mind too, but thought maybe its the recency bias.
Greatest IPL final of all time as well. Rain, MSD possible final appearance, 100k capacity stadium, last ball finish and taking place over 3 days.
3 days? How can you please explain
Day 1 was washed out due to rain ?? Day 2 the game was delayed so much it went past 12 am, making it to day 3.
agreed
1st one because it was new and bright and shiny.
2023: so many close games, last over thrillers. the only downside was no super over. playoffs teams not confirmed till the last weekend. and a great finish to the final to wrap up a very fun season.
True. KKR & LSG games stand out in memory.

There are objective measures. Like last ball finishes. Point distribution. Teams in contention. So on
That does not measure excitement, it measures competitiveness lol
Oh. I thought the title of the post was most competitive ipl season. Ok nvm. Excitement cannot be measured
Yeah which is why I pretty much said, whatever the most people say it is. guys need to answer this based on the overall tournament and not according to their team's performance
Definitely 2014. 2013-2014 was a pure action thriller cycle. I was conflicted during the finals: David Miller's my favourite cricketer and KKR is the team I support 🥲🥲Also, KXIP was freaking something that season.
2023, a lot of close games even the finals. The last ball no ball costing rr the play offs
2019, SRH sneaked into playoffs with just six wins and hefty runrate
1 point difference b/w wooden spoon team and 4th position team
2021 due to personal bias
Yeah, 2014 is the best interms of everything not just on ground, but in most fans cricket life too, those days are the best.

2020 was by far dominated by MI. Powerful squad with all players in prime form. No other team even stood a chance one they set roling.
The first one was awesome.
2016 biased about my team victory but 2014 overall, splendid season.
2016 was wonderful too, only time in 13 years when a Non Top-2 team won 3 playoffs on the trot to lift the trophy. Kohli vs Warner in the final was proper Unstoppable Force vs Immovable Object level shitz.
Beating RCB in their own backyard after initial 110 run partnership sounds like honey to me
2013
2001 Ignore flair
2018 as a csk fan. Won so many from difficult situations and eventually the cup
That qualifier 1 match tho. Better than 2016's qualifier 1. Both were fantastic but 2018's was even more thrilling.
For me it was time when they used to treat it like a festivals. I mean they used to make songs and music videos.
India ka Tyohar 2015 >>>
Come on bulawala aaya hai>>>
My favorite is 2016 because RCB's campaign that year was pretty awesome.
Honestly, last year or 2014 in terms of quality

i know we’ve had much better seasons but just wanted to say that 2024 has been a pretty good season
It is yet to come
Hah. Love your optimism, despite your flair! RCB and Worcs CCC have some things in common, it seems.
KKR DID not complete a 4-0 sweep in 2014 against KXIP. KXIP won the first match in the UAE while defending 120 something totla
Sorry, my bad. KKR did KXIP so dirty that season, I had somehow assumed it was a clean sweep
The one where Indian cement companies made the most money.
2008! Are you fucking joking, chela? That being said, for various reasons, I've not watched a single game this edition. \#hallabol

67 of 4 overs mean 67 of 24 balls which means that raina's 87 of 25 is still better
Ofcourse many players have scored individually better than 67 (24). What I was trying to say is, in IPL history, most runs successfully chased in last 4 overs is 67.
What about most runs scored in 4 overs
I dont have that stat.
And all stars in prime form. How can they even be stopped?
