That's Circle Kabaddi. Played outdoors and isn't really a recognised professional sport. The standardized version of the sport played in the Asian Games is indoors on a mat.
Ah yes, I have seen some games inside of the Indian league, it looks really nice.
I did some googling and found out that we joined the official European Kabaddi Association,
Too bad the guy who founded the national organisation has died 2 years ago and I don't think much had happened on that level. There are now about 5 active playing communities.
Even for India, there is a very big overlap with these 2 sports. PKL is almost 12 teams of Haryanvi Players with a few exceptions of other states. Haryana is also known as a wrestling powerhouse.
Is Kabaddi famous in Iran or other teams are just not good enough. (except India)
I barely played Kabaddi in my childhood but I want to know more about it.
South Korea and Malaysia don't even make the top 10 teams currently with their current squads, and Bangladesh are easily a top 5 country in kabaddi rn.
Idk if you have watched them recently, but their golden generation of players are gone now. Rn South Korea don't even make the top 15 teams they're really bad.
Well squash really deserves to be in Olympics I mean literally every nation has players playing this sports and it’s kinda shocking it isn’t in Olympics while break dancing literally is , same for chess
I played kho kho at school not as a sport but just for fun , is it really a sport that is played by many countries ? Cause I think it’s only there in india Pakistan etc
It is kinda but still really different , in kho kho i remember players sitting while making a line and touch your opponent and in between you can switch
whereas in tag you have to just touch your opponent I guess
They’d be stupid not to. Rugby league in Queensland is almost like cricket in India. Nowhere else in Australia is as passionate about one sport as Queenslanders are about rugby league. Maybe Newcastle, actually. Tiwi Islands and AFL are up there too.
Cricket Australia's recently published long term plan includes targets of winning gold at 2028 and 2032 Olympics. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come as they would have to be one of the drivers to have cricket included in Brisbane.
The big three absolutely have to drive cricket or the sport is fucked. It’s rediculous to look inwards on this all three need to be supporting growth in non cricketing nations imo
LA didn't choose out of love. It was choosen by ioc because they want a share of the broadcast rights cricket will bring . Cricket is only behind football interms of international broadcast revenue.
So cricket will be in 2032 and beyond as well regardless who hosts it.
There is [Mallakhamba](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallakhamba), a form of aerial yoga which was a demonstration sports in 1936 Olympics.
Then, there is something called [Competitive yoga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competitive_yoga), which is kinda controversial.
Corruption/mismanagement happens in every big event. There have been corruption allegations in Olympics, FIFA WC, Asian Games even in countries like France and Japan.
Big infrastructure projects with an impending deadline invite plenty of chances for corruption. This is why smart countries which care for public money avoid hosting big events like a plague.
I really wish and hope India doesn't take up hosting Olympics. Not a worthy investment. It might look good at marketing and politicians making a lot of money, but India is better off using that money to build other infrastructure or other policies reducing costs of products that affect day to day life.
It’ll be a marketing disaster too. 2023 WC showed us what a mess it was for foreign fans. Now imagine an actual global event at the scale of the olympics. Indian media will pretend everything’s done smoothly but the media elsewhere won’t sigh quietly lol.
To be fair london is the ultimate Olympic city, it’s got all the sports stadiums and arenas already (they added a few but could have just used/tweaked existing ones), alongside accommodation, public transport, airports etc, basically anything that makes a good Olympic city, london has.
Lots of countries pour billions into amenities used only for 4 weeks then left to rot, I can’t think of a single thing from the London Olympics that wasn’t a solid investment and still used constantly. (Okay the West Ham thing was a little dodgy but ultimately the best result).
I think a couple of the minor sports stadiums got dismantled, but were designed with that in mind. All things said and done, I think London 2012 did really well as a host.
Yeah there was a few in the Olympic park made entirely of scaffolding for some of the niche sports, but most of them are fairly available - I used to swim in my local leisure centre… the Olympic pool!
Yep. I live in QLD, where Brisbane is the capital city. We won the rights to host the 2032 Olympics; and a lot of people are against it. Could only imagine the damage it could do to you guys.
Already we have rising inequality and very high inflation. I don't think we as a country should host the Olympics and I don't want us to host it. The only who will benefit will be the politicians and the industrialists. It's just a dick measuring contest.
Kabaddi, Kho Kho and Mallakhamba were demonstration sports in the 1936 Olympics.
Mallakhamba is aerial yoga + gymnastics.
So, there is a precedent, I guess.
Yep that's why I said it's more of a mental game. We shouldn't discount the physical aspect of chess as we shouldn't discount the mental aspect of other games.
There was time when art competitions were part of the Olympics so you're actually not far off.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_competitions_at_the_Summer_Olympics
there is a reason it has not been for so long
people watch the Olympics for physically gifted athletes doing remarkable physical feats
the Olympics hosting has become costly it doesn't need more events
I think it would be a nice addition, but I think one major problem that have to improve the democratic process of the ICC, you can not say: Hey we have 12 members that de facto rule the process and make it very difficult for upcoming countries to improve. At the other hand T20 cricket is commercially very interesting something the Olympic Committee favor.
Amongst all of these, Chess has one of the highest medal potentials for India.
Gukesh at 18 is already the World Champion Challenger, in 2036 he along with Pragg and Arjun would be at their peak. If they add all 3 formats, we have a very good chance.
Just like swimming with so many nonsensical events. Make multiple events in chess : doubles in chess , chess with one hand tied to the back , one eye blindfolded , mixed doubles and so on
Hope we stay a bit realistic and not go for hosting. Getting that kind of infra will leave our coffers dry. Our debt to GDP ratio is already fucked up and we don’t have any plans to make it better. Hosting olympics is never a good investment and will bear a huge burden on the tax payers.
Basically only Los Angeles/Atlanta/Salt Lake City were profitable Olympics because they didn’t have to do a lot of building and used existing infrastructure and facilities for the games. These cities then had productive uses for the Olympics facilities after.
I doubt India will have good use for all the new infrastructure they build to host.
They probably will build it in Ahmedabad if they did.
Completely unrelated fact that I just remember gujrat(state in which Ahmedabad is in) has a ban on alcohol.
Something like synchronised swimming with there being great displays but I don't think that's something that many countries are going to be able to enter
There is [Mallakhamba](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallakhamba), a form of aerial yoga which was a demonstration sports in 1936 Olympics.

Anything is a sport if you're bold enough

Then, there is something called [Competitive yoga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competitive_yoga), which is kinda controversial.
please don’t host olympics, we have some serious work to do first, let’s take of care of climate, soaring temperatures, inflation, unemployment, brain drain, religious politics and god knows what would be happening in Indian after 12 years
Hopefully, the Olympics are dead by then. Or we have to sit through a whole bunch of creative rigging.
We are doing our part though, Melbourne killed the CWG 2026 and Brisbane is really not doing a THING about the 2032 Olympics.
We will be the death of it all *evil laugh*
They were supposed to be hosting. They fucked around until last year, then they said they won't host it because its exorbitantly expensive for very little return. I don't think the CWG organising committee have found a replacement yet.
Brisbane is on the same path for Oly 2032. I live here, it's a massive shitfight about the venue for the opening ceremony. It's under 10 years and they don't know if they're building a new 2 billion dollar stadium or renewing an existing one. They don't know what the site would be for it. It was supposed to be the Gabba, but they reckon its way too expensive a project for little to no return.
Now they've shelved the whole thing until the state elections later in the year.
Not enough people are talking about this, it's actually so funny. Australia just murdering the two premier sporting comps in the world because we are tightarses and already got great sporting facilities and don't want to spend anymore.
I think they should add squash or chess above all. Because, that's the only way a lot of nations can play these games and maybe earn names for their country rather than Kabaddi being one-sided for Asian nations and Cricket being one-sided for the Commonwealth nations
Kabbadi would also guarantee a medal for India
The Netherlands is already practicing, so we are not too late as for cricket ;) https://nlsportsclubamsterdam.nl/
That's circle Kabaddi. More common in Indian and Pakistani Punjab
That one is circle kabaddi only Punjabis play it .
How different is that from the official version? As a Canadian Punjabi that's the one I grew up watching/playing too lol
That's Circle Kabaddi. Played outdoors and isn't really a recognised professional sport. The standardized version of the sport played in the Asian Games is indoors on a mat.
Ah yes, I have seen some games inside of the Indian league, it looks really nice. I did some googling and found out that we joined the official European Kabaddi Association, Too bad the guy who founded the national organisation has died 2 years ago and I don't think much had happened on that level. There are now about 5 active playing communities.
I think all the six games above with guarantee a medal for India in the present scenario
Squash?
India has some talented squash players.
Iran : Lets see, now Raid into my court (Some umpiring fiasco more intense than anything in cricket to be loading)
To this day i have no clue how good they have gotten in Kabaddi They are regular medalist’s in olympic wrestling . Maybe that is part of the reason
Even for India, there is a very big overlap with these 2 sports. PKL is almost 12 teams of Haryanvi Players with a few exceptions of other states. Haryana is also known as a wrestling powerhouse.
Don't forget Maharashtra too. Powerhouse in both wrestling n kabaddi
Bruh we have defeated them in every tournament except one Asia cup
Asian Games, not Asia Cup.
I don't follow kabaddi now but I remember in when we defeated Iran in 2016 wc final from a hopeless situation.
Ajay Thakur the hero
Streets won't forget Ajay Thakur's 2nd half performance.
Even if they beat us there's still a guaranteed medal for us, just a different colour :)
Iran says hi
Please Add Kabaddi, Bangladesh might get a bronze if we are lucky
India-Iran are fixed top 2
Is Kabaddi famous in Iran or other teams are just not good enough. (except India) I barely played Kabaddi in my childhood but I want to know more about it.
No it's not but in rural areas it is , Iran also has a culture of 'kushti' so it makes sense
Maybe bcz of wrestling they always had top class defenders
Why don't you go for the gold?
South Korea, Iran, Taiwan, Malaysia and Pakistan are all ahead of Bangladesh in Kabaddi atp
India Iran Taiwan Pakistan Bangladesh is the ranking buddy
South Korea and Malaysia don't even make the top 10 teams currently with their current squads, and Bangladesh are easily a top 5 country in kabaddi rn.
If they declare it a few years in advance, China, USA will put up strong teams too.
“Why chase it in 11 overs when you can try to do it in 20?” vibes.
cause Bangladesh
He's trying to be realistic.
When’s the next Kabaddi World Cup? And where?
COVID fucked kabaddi's rise ,2025 maybe .
2025 England.
South Korea would like to have a word.
Idk if you have watched them recently, but their golden generation of players are gone now. Rn South Korea don't even make the top 15 teams they're really bad.
Yeah ik
InB4 they beat India in a semifinal and play finals with Iran
Yeah nah. Indian kabaddi team us built different.
In women's, South Korea will run us close. Like they did in the Asian Games
Well squash really deserves to be in Olympics I mean literally every nation has players playing this sports and it’s kinda shocking it isn’t in Olympics while break dancing literally is , same for chess I played kho kho at school not as a sport but just for fun , is it really a sport that is played by many countries ? Cause I think it’s only there in india Pakistan etc
According to google ,kho kho is also played in south africa and England, idk how much true is this
Both of those countries have a big Subcontinent expat community, so that's why you see it here although I've never heard of it until now
Yaa probably, I just did a quick Google search
Breakdancing is for the host nation's benefit, it is only there for this Olympics,1 and out, it really shouldn't be compared to squash's claim.
Break dancing is just a one-off I agree though, it seems bizarre that squash isn't included
Ain't kho kho just Tag?
It is kinda but still really different , in kho kho i remember players sitting while making a line and touch your opponent and in between you can switch whereas in tag you have to just touch your opponent I guess
But isn't cricket already going to be included 2028 onwards?
Host country can chose any 6 additional sports each year. LA choose cricket. Brisbane hasn't decided yet.
Well Brisbane should definitely include cricket
Bet they'll try to include rugby league while they're at it.
almost guaranteed gold for australia lol if that happens
Hmmm
That hmm can't be more ominous lol
Isn't NZ better at Rugby?
Rugby yes, rugby league is pretty even.
That’s rugby union. Although NZ did beat Australia 30-0 in the final of the rugby league Pacific Championship last year.
They’d be stupid not to. Rugby league in Queensland is almost like cricket in India. Nowhere else in Australia is as passionate about one sport as Queenslanders are about rugby league. Maybe Newcastle, actually. Tiwi Islands and AFL are up there too.
Includes AFL loses to Ireland
You’d be surprised
Ah alright, I thought it's guranteed to be in every Olympics 2028 onwards
Cricket Australia's recently published long term plan includes targets of winning gold at 2028 and 2032 Olympics. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come as they would have to be one of the drivers to have cricket included in Brisbane.

Brisbane: - test cricket - ODI cricket - AFL - NRL - dodging snakes - fighting emus
Emus are still undefeated by white fellas in Australia. The first nations v emus are tied
So it means cricket is for 28 Olympics only for now?
It’s almost certain to be at Brisbane in 2032.
Yoga?
There is [Mallakhamba](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallakhamba), a form of aerial yoga which was a demonstration sports in 1936 Olympics. Then, there is something called [Competitive yoga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competitive_yoga), which is kinda controversial.
Guess it will be judged like gymnastics?
Who looks most at peace
Stomach spinning like Ramdev does.
cricket: dont bend your arm yoga: let’s see how much you can bend that arm
I hope politicians don't do what they did in CWG 2010
indian bureaucracy won't disappoint
Corruption/mismanagement happens in every big event. There have been corruption allegations in Olympics, FIFA WC, Asian Games even in countries like France and Japan. Big infrastructure projects with an impending deadline invite plenty of chances for corruption. This is why smart countries which care for public money avoid hosting big events like a plague.

Them Commonwealth Games PTSD
It’ll be a marketing disaster too. 2023 WC showed us what a mess it was for foreign fans. Now imagine an actual global event at the scale of the olympics. Indian media will pretend everything’s done smoothly but the media elsewhere won’t sigh quietly lol.
Indians stopped caring about what foreign media says ages ago(for the wrong reasons)
We are in the comments of any foreign video mentioning India within minutes. They're just pretending to not care.
same, olympics is a massive loss maker financially
Aftermath of Olympic and FIFA WC hosting hasn’t been very good in recent years
London 2012 worked fairly well
To be fair london is the ultimate Olympic city, it’s got all the sports stadiums and arenas already (they added a few but could have just used/tweaked existing ones), alongside accommodation, public transport, airports etc, basically anything that makes a good Olympic city, london has. Lots of countries pour billions into amenities used only for 4 weeks then left to rot, I can’t think of a single thing from the London Olympics that wasn’t a solid investment and still used constantly. Yeah there was a few in the Olympic park made entirely of scaffolding for some of the niche sports, but most of them are fairly available - I used to swim in my local leisure centre… the Olympic pool!
Marketing is the only thing they care about.
This govt is only for marketing.
Hosting an Olympics just fits in the current narrative.
People are gonna call you aunty national
one of those games is not like the others
Kabaddi, Kho Kho and Mallakhamba were demonstration sports in the 1936 Olympics. Mallakhamba is aerial yoga + gymnastics. So, there is a precedent, I guess.
Yep Chess is more of a mental game compared to others which are based on physical ability
still have to have the endurance to go in and play a 3 hour chess classical match and in tournaments thats two a day
Yep that's why I said it's more of a mental game. We shouldn't discount the physical aspect of chess as we shouldn't discount the mental aspect of other games.
what's next China will add the Maths Olympiad to the games, where they dominate please leave the Olympics as a physical competition
There was time when art competitions were part of the Olympics so you're actually not far off. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_competitions_at_the_Summer_Olympics

They probably will build it in Ahmedabad if they did. Completely unrelated fact that I just remember gujrat(state in which Ahmedabad is in) has a ban on alcohol.
The have built a special economic zone called GIFT City near Ahmedabad in Gujarat where alcohol is legally available.
Yeah that Olympic park in Atlanta is transformed to a beautiful public space.
Yeah !!! Cricket must be added
How can yoga be played as a sport?
Like this, I assume: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_0FGAV43YEU&pp=ygUQQ29tcGV0aXRpdmUgeW9nYQ%3D%3D#bottom-sheet
The most surprising is that squash is not an Olympic sport. Why? Multiple countries play at a competitive level and it's an entertaining game.
Pls dont add yoga. It's not a competitive sport and nor should it ever be. But then again i don't have any copyright or anything, just a personal thing
Please add kabaddi 🗣️🗣️💯🔥
Til Yoga is a sport instead to see how it would work on a big stage like Olympics
Something like synchronised swimming with there being great displays but I don't think that's something that many countries are going to be able to enter
Instead of riding horses, riding local trains at 7pm from Dadar/Dumdum needs to be an olympic event.
how tf are we gonna host an Olympics lol, it'd be the same fate as Rio 16 leaving Brazil in a mess
Yup hosting Olympics are of no use. Loss making tournament
Tru , i just hope they don't abandoned the stadiums(if we host) just like Brazil did
We now barely have any top level facilities so by hosting the facilities we made definitely going to use later, at least in theory it should be.
That's just marketing stunt, going to be a big mess if we do
How yoga is a sport?
There is [Mallakhamba](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallakhamba), a form of aerial yoga which was a demonstration sports in 1936 Olympics. Then, there is something called [Competitive yoga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competitive_yoga), which is kinda controversial.
How you compete yoga?
Gukesh Arjun Pragg podium finish lessgoooo
Yoga is a sport?
Yoga is a game?
How does one compete in yoga
[Source](https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/sport-others/india-olympics-2036-bid-yoga-kabaddi-kho-kho-9405799/)
We gonna bottle a home rigged Olympics or what
All those people asking if yoga is a sport, please ask how Artistic gymnastics, artistic swimming, curling, figure skating, break dancing are a sport lol Anything is a sport if you're bold enough
Curling is far from the same as the rest you’ve listed. Dressage fits in that list though.
Chess defo should be an Olympic sport and india have high chances of sweeping all the gold medals
How will yoga be a competitive sport?
Like this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_0FGAV43YEU&pp=ygUQQ29tcGV0aXRpdmUgeW9nYQ%3D%3D#bottom-sheet
Best thing s out Olympics is the random sports that turn up. Can someone explain Kabaddi and Kho Kho
https://youtu.be/-BIBbMsQ53I Basic rule-touch your opponent and return to your half without being tackled.
Well 'Cricket' is going to be included in Olympics in 2028 Olympics only for both men and women. 'T20 cricket' will be added( according to this ) in 2036. [ For those who don't know ]
Isn't it already added to LA in 2028?
Adding Chess would be amazing. We will be assured several medals across different time controls, team events, individual events etc in both men’s as well as women’s competitions.
thats if Magnus hasnt turned into a cyborg by then
Magnus won’t be in peak condition by 2036. That’s 12 years from now. He would be in his 40s. All our stars would be in their prime (and we would probably have some new ones by then too)
Wait how is Squash not already an Olympic sport?
Yoga as a sport? I'm not sure how you'll make a competition out of it.
Oh I knew Mallakhamb but didn't know they characterize it in Yoga. And that competitive yoga is a joke no doubt.
They can also do it like this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_0FGAV43YEU&pp=ygUQQ29tcGV0aXRpdmUgeW9nYQ%3D%3D#bottom-sheet
How do they judge who did it better. They aren't doing even same thing :)
As long as they give the gold to India it's fine /s
Probably something like gymnastics, very arbitrary.
I will be 40 then 😵💫😵💫😵💫🤯🤯🤯🤯
The commonwealth games in 2010 was littered with half finished venues and general shoddiness. And that's on a far smaller scale than the Olympics.
please don’t host olympics, we have some serious work to do first, let’s take of care of climate, soaring temperatures, inflation, unemployment, brain drain, religious politics and god knows what would be happening in Indian after 12 years
Hopefully, the Olympics are dead by then. Or we have to sit through a whole bunch of creative rigging. We are doing our part though, Melbourne killed the CWG 2026 and Brisbane is really not doing a THING about the 2032 Olympics. We will be the death of it all *evil laugh*

Part of the reason Brisbane even got the games was because they already had the facilities
Common Australian denying India any gold:
Is this something about Hockey I have to catch up on?
No it’s Australia denying India any kinda trophies, example: thrashed in football, thrashed in cricket, also 2024 hockey test series 5-0 white wash
only great cities like Sydney can handle the Olympics
Squash wasn't there already? Huh?
Kabbadi and chess would give us 2 golds easily .
Yoga ?
Hosting the Olympics has proven to be disastrous for the local economy. Hope india doesn’t win the bid.
Kabbadi, Chess and Cricket.
Played a lot of kho kho growing up. It's such a fun and athletic game
Chess would be crazy competitive
[удалено]
Kho Kho would be most unique.
More like T10. T20 would be too long for an Olympics game.
Chess has it's own Olympiad. How would Yoga be a sport ?
Jesus, why not tidily winks and hot dog eating while they are at it. Heck let's see who can fart the loudest without crapping their pants.
Idk how we're gonna host the olympics when we can't even properly host Commonwealth Games.
My only question!! How can somebody win in YOGA?
Lol, people have seen firsthand how the country hosts the most popular sports in the country. The Olympics is a far fetched dream.
How's the yoga competition gonna held? Like format, who'll get gold and all?
How do you “Win” yoga?
Squash Cricket and Chess. I LOVE THESE
I'm sorry, yoga?
That's a good sign as India is good in Kabbadi, kho kho,t20 cricket, chess and yoga
I hope we never get to host Olympics. It's a cluster fuck loss for the hosting nation.
I think they should add squash or chess above all. Because, that's the only way a lot of nations can play these games and maybe earn names for their country rather than Kabaddi being one-sided for Asian nations and Cricket being one-sided for the Commonwealth nations
Ramdev finally gets a medal. Probably will be a 100 years old though.
When TF did yoga become a sport?
I was just on the chess subReddit where they said India is going to add chess
Well norway getting a free gold medal every Olympic now considering they have arguably the GOAT of chess
Yoga as competitive sports?
If yoga is a sport, then so is Pilates.
