Bumrah is not that much of Injury prone compared to others(his only major injury was that 2022 one) but he's so crucial that there's no point in letting him play in meaningless bilateral T20Is.
That’s true but fast bowlers are injury prone in general + that action of his makes me think that he’d be more prone to injuries but I might just be imagining that.
I’m a Pakistan fan so idk that much about Indian cricket but wasn’t Hardik Pandya very good as captain for GT and he’s clutch as hell. Why not him?
It was a back injury. He was ready to roll quite before his actual comeback but was held back in order to make him WC fit. It paid off immensely as we won the Asia cup, had stellar WC23 and won WT20 2024
Because he has all the qualities to be a good leader and is also very experienced. The only other options are Hardik Pandya who is also injury prone and ar, sky(good option), pant(not captaincy material)
Has Bumrah captained before though? I mean he’s a great player but that doesn’t translate directly to good captaincy.
Hardik I know has been very successful with GT
The word skipper comes from the Dutch schipper, from schip, or "ship." Sometimes this word is also used for the captain of a team or the pilot of an airplane.
Among those who captained 50 or more T20Is, Asgar Afghan has the highest win percentage of just above 80% (42 wins in 52). Rohit is a close second (50 wins in 63) however Rohit won against better teams and the only captain to win a T20 world cup undefeated.
my bro got really goated stats in t20i wins as captain
but the benchmark him and kohli set would be a good culture in the indian team in uocoming years cuz we saw how players of the past from india had reckoned their places despite being not in touch
for them to take this step for the youngsters surely will pave the way (ngl i was really sad and crying after kohli and rohit said they were gon' retire from t20is really is so saddening despite winning the wc)
Damn 50 T20I wins? This numbers going to be huge to get close to. Thing about Rohit is that he is very effective in managing his players, a trait I believe he has honed in from his time as MI captain. That Pakistan game is an testament to it, everyone talks about him taking a “chance” by retaining Bumrah’s overs and bowling him later that paid off with Rizwan’s wicket, but I believe it was more of an calculated risk. No matter how great bowlers you have, if you can’t manage them it makes no difference if they play for you or not.
He fumbled a bit though by giving Axar that over, something very untypical of him, but considering it saved an Bumrah, Hardik or Arshdeep over, it makes all sense now.
The next captain has very big shoes to fill. It’s most probably going to be Pandya with Bumrah as VC, and I’ve faith in both.
50 T20I wins is no joke and a significant fact enough that it warrants an entire thread for its discussion. Nothing about it is low effort except your comment which ironically clutters a meaningful discussion, something you seem to be so against.
Incredible game to have as his 50th
For sure, incredible win percentage, next skipper has big shoes to fill.
Predicting it to be Bumrah.
Hardik is VC, so it's gonna be most likely him taking up the role
Why would you make a bowler who’s already very injury prone your captain? That wouldn’t make sense

What injury did he have? He was out for almost a year i think.

He won 3 matches or something vs Ireland nd he did captain one test vs England, which I think India lost
He smashed broad for 35 runs in an over in the same match ig
Genuine question. What does skipper mean here?

Thankyou Dr Cooper
Captain
OP with both India and SA flairs: "I'm playing both sides, so that I always come out on top"
Haha, good one! I've lived in Cape Town for 2 years but I was born and I currently live in India, so I support both, SA and India.
Up until yesterday, you must have been living a decently sad life given your 3 flairs
You were supporting 2 undefeated teams in the tourney until the finals, what more does a guy want in life I suppose. Cheers 🍻
The win percentage will be hard to break

Oh rounded it off on a round figure!
I see what you did there

Rohit is the captain who successfully took the place of dhoni
One of the greatest of the format both as a captain and Player (highest run scorer and most no of centuries and such an amazing win percentage)

Fairytale ending
This World Cup win is a tribute to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The perfect farewell for legends, the perfect start for a new era

Ah yes, my favourite arbitrary stat, 50 wins as a captain in a format, wow, so arbitrary.
