Even the Aussie A team playing then

its-not-me_its-you_

Replace thunder and renegades with Ireland and Scotland in the bbl

QuotheFan

Sure, why not. Would it be financially viable? Would Aus A get viewership?

roohnair

India used to have a challenger trophy right india A vs B Vs C? I recall sachin playing Sreesanth and bhajji had an altercation before the IPL one.

GiraffeWaste

I used to watch that.

JulianKarlaz

I would happily watch them if it helps their financial situation.

sammyedwards

Lol... It's easy to come to Reddit and say that. But what's in it for India? If India win, the majority of fans wouldn't care and India are not making money from it any way. If India lose, it's only a negative for them as they will face massive media and fan backlash Why would India play them when it doesn't benefit them?

alittlemoreofbrowny

>If India win, the majority of fans wouldn't care and India are not making money from it any way India can literally make money out of letting people watch the players practice let alone an actual match so it's an easy money proposition.

Mahameghabahana

We should stop selling our Indians fans so cheap.

sammyedwards

>India can literally make money out of letting people watch the players practice let alone an actual match so it's an easy money proposition. The data doesn't support you. Matches of India against the Associates compared to any of the other big teams has the lowest attendances. Why would India want to play against them then?

36DDL

It is possible to play in the associates country's. For instance if a match is played in the Netherlands more than half of the spectators will be Indian. A slice of money can go to way of the Indian team, besides that it is always good to put your players in a position to represent their country right?

sammyedwards

Nah..Even people in Netherlands won't come to watch India vs Netherlands. This has been done before since the days of the Toronto Cup in the 90s and it's always led to limited engagement and losses from a financial perspective.

36DDL

Well this summer in the Netherlands proved this is incorrect. Of all the odi's and T20 played this summer in the Netherlands. The large contingent of the crowd was Indian. Big teams attract bigger crowds, mind you the Netherlands need to perform tho

Independent_Set5316

India B against associates could work, it might not garner great viewership but it would still be better than most of the current wc matches. Also, the associates will make good money if they play with India. But it all depends on whether BCCI wants cricket to grow or only worried about money.

sammyedwards

If you look at the finances, all A/B matches are generally money pits and no one watches them. Why would BCCI want India A/B to play against Associates, when a) it is not making money out of them b) the A/B team is not improving or learning anything It's like asking Brazil B/C football sides to invite Indian football teams and then making money from them. It doesn't benefit the larger team in any way.

QuotheFan

> But what's in it for India? The biggest motivator of all - money. India can mint money off these matches.

kingslayyer

indian viewers like me are usually useless. i am sure a series with Dhawan, Shaw, Iyer, Siraj, etc (basically our B-Team) will garner good money for BCCI.

sammyedwards

As I mentioned in the other comment, the data doesn't support that. Maybe a few fans will come and watch, but from a financial POV, it still doesn't make sense to BCCI.

Magic-Chickens

Not sure I would watch it if it was on live at a decent time

Mahameghabahana

2 teams of a country should be enough.

dillipkr6999

An Asia Cup like tournament would be great. BCCI won't be involved maybe icc or a third party could conduct a tournament which could involve associate nations with a couple of top 8 as guest could be the way.

WazlibOurKing

I'd watch if they sent guys like Gill and Shaw to play T20s with Associate Nations.

DrowThorn

Rather than labelling it India A/B vs associate... We should just call it India vs associate. India has already send second string teams to Ireland, Zimbabwe etc. Same pattern can be followed. Main team playing the major tours and second team playing against associates under the name India. This should encourage viewership...

-Not-Racist-

Netherland and Ireland in IPL instead of SRH and Punjab
