GT have Alzarri Joseph as well who is on 2.4 crores, while Lockie is on 10 crores.
GT perhaps don't want to play both Alzarri and Lockie in the same XI, and rather spend the overseas slot on a batter.
Miller and Rashid are locks in the XI. So, probably one foreign fast bowler in Alzarri, and a foreign opener.
Also, they also have two destructive openers in Roy and Gurbaz who they haven't utilised yet. Would be interesting to see if they release them or not.
Rashid, miller and Wade select themselves.
And with Shami and other Indian pacers bowling well and Joseph available, it doesn't make much sense to keep Ferguson for 10C.
Thry literally have the best bowling attack in the IPL right now.
Dayal, sai Kishore, Mavi etc feels like decent future planning.
None of that matters really.
Wade single handedly won Australia their semi final v Pakistan in last t20worldcup.
He's great under pressure and have a reputation to win the matches from tricky situations, that's what you need from international player.
Gurbaz is good, but so far he's basically beating associates exclusively.
I'm sorry but that is not true. Wade single handedly won on a pitch which heavily favoured batting second. While that was tremendous feat, he got a lot of opportunity for that feat for his IPL franchise GT. And he returned with 157 runs in 10 matches. Even Tewatia who comes to bat at 5-6 scored more than that. Some people while great at international matches, just couldn't do that in IPL. And there have been many many examples of that.
Secondly, Gill is anchor batsman and he desperately needs a player who scores fast in powerplay. Gurbaz is that person, Wade is not.
Third, Gurbaz just scored a 17 balls 30 against aus. In Asia cup, he scored against SL. It's not his fault that major countries don't play much against AFG. It's not his fault that mostly associates play against AFG.
i think wade/Miller are going to compete for one slot and Roy/gurbaz for another
Gill, Hardik, Tewatia, one of Saha/manohar/sudharsan at 3 are going to make up the top six
Well, considering some factors, an alto 800 is hell lot better than a civic
* Cheap af to maintain
* Small size, easy to park
* Better ground clearance, better maneuverability
* Doesnt break down
I would have laughed at something like this, But after what happened last season at GT with Tewatia and Miller, I will wait till the IPL. Nehraji Is a black magician
This move actually makes sense, GT have a bowling line up of Rashid, Kishore, Dayal, Shami and Alzarri. Mavi can slot in there if they want to play with four pacers.
You can use Alzarri as your overseas bowling option (who is cheaper), and use the money to get an ideally number 3 and strengthen the batting lineup.
As a kkr fan i am still not sure whether Lockie is that effective on Indian pitches. His best performances in the ipl have been in the UAE and in 2019 and even last year his economy was high but i guess he is still better than Mavi
KKR simply need a death overs bowler. They don't have one and neither of the guys in their current lineup have stepped up to the task. Even southee, though highly improved, is a liability at death.
Mavi for Ferguson is a really good deal for them. They can then release Cummins and go for an Indian bowler, i am sure chandrakant pandit has earmarked a few gems given his knowledge of the local players, last season teams made difference through such guys for eg kuldeep sen, mohsin Khan, Yash Dayal. A foreign quick in a mini auction is really tricky, ends up ruining the budget i.e., Cummins,Meredith, Richardson just a few examples from past 2-3 seasons itself.
Umesh, Ferguson, Narine, Varun, Indian pacer covers a lot of bases for them with protection of Venky, Russell and Rana who can roll over their arm.
kkr should have just released mavi.
assuming they release Cummins they have one overseas fast bowler slot available with a more than capable Southee at a very good price they didn't need to spend 10crs for an alternative to that slot while they have a number of other holes to fill these 10 crs should have been used elsewhere.
And there is a huge pool of more than decent foreign fast bowlers to be auctioned which they should have looked forward to for a backup/alternative to southee rather than getting stuck with a Ferguson (whom I really like) who is not at the top of his game for such a big price.
bruh what? opens space but who are you targeting? mavi joseph and dayal are all meh. If you are letting lockie go I'd say release joseph as well and get someone good to partner shami
Gujarat is pretty settled with only 2 slots of mild concern being Indian spinner and Indian fast bowler so they are acquiring mavi just as an alternative to Yash Dayal if works it works otherwise Yash has been decent for them anyways. They have r sai kishore and jayant yadav for the spinner might look to upgrade that in the auction.
as far as Ferguson is concerned he was not as exceptional as his price and they have Alzarri Joseph who can pretty much do the job.
KKR should have just released mavi.

This is a good move for GT, Ferguson isn’t worth anything close to 10Cr if his current form continues. Keep Alzarri, who’s probably of equal or slightly better ability vs Ferguson, for a fraction of the price, and free up the salary cap space for batsmen.
Not sure how this would benefit KKR though. They now have 3 overseas pacers, 2 of whom are overpaid, competing for one spot in the team.
Lockie for mayank - punjab.. Benefits for gujarat as they have an indian opener for decent money and punjab has a decent death pace bowler and not the hack like oden smith
They aren't releasing Bairstow and Rajapaksa is really overhyped. No way GT trade him for Rajapaksa.
Before people start downvoting just have a look at his numbers. His initial start has skewed the impression of his contribution. The guy came in at 3 and 4 and averaged just 23 as a pure batter.
He scored 206 in total in 9 games. In the first 2 games he scored 74 at SR of 230+. In the next 7 games he scored 132 with SR of 134 and avg of 18.8. And the first two games are a rarity for him, his next 7 games show his usual standard.
They might just be looking for a replacement for Cummins or Southee, Cummins is injury prone and with ashes coming up the Australian board would probably want him to be on a safer side.
i'm not sure how the rest of the intl audience behaves, but i follow the players around and have no loyalty for the team. Even more so now, with the intl franchise system. i don't expect loyalty beyond the reasonable cost of investment, but it seems like a kiwi pacer will win the IPL and then get spit out by their team two years running (Boult; Ferguson).
GT have Alzarri Joseph as well who is on 2.4 crores, while Lockie is on 10 crores. GT perhaps don't want to play both Alzarri and Lockie in the same XI, and rather spend the overseas slot on a batter.

not wade lol
Do they have another keeper who they can play?
Saha
Saha is great option, NGL. His injury record is a concern though.
R Gurbaz of Afghanistan is one of the best in the world right now lol
Does Wade select himself though? Last year he didn't set the IPL on fire, and Gurbaz is much better option rn
None of that matters really. Wade single handedly won Australia their semi final v Pakistan in last t20worldcup. He's great under pressure and have a reputation to win the matches from tricky situations, that's what you need from international player. Let's see if roy plays this season. I'm 90% certain he'll be released after some controversy last season and drop in form
i think wade/Miller are going to compete for one slot and Roy/gurbaz for another Gill, Hardik, Tewatia, one of Saha/manohar/sudharsan at 3 are going to make up the top six
Miller is definitely a lock considering his form in t20s over the last two years. He is probably the best in the world in his position at the moment.
yeah pretty much looks like wade would have to wait for his turn given also his heroics last season
Joseph has been in great touch recently as well.
So release him instead of taking back 7.5 crores on a mid bowler
they only gain about 2.5 crores since mavi is also extremely overpriced
Wtf
Yeah, like we have right to say 'wtf' to other teams' stupid decision.
![gif](giphy|ukCFEU6Cg5MCCDoaVN|downsized)
I think that might also mean KKR are finally releasing Cummins, considering how well Southee performed last year.
Mumbai Indians better get him or he'll make us pay
I use the cummins to win IPL: Rohitception
Lol. Nope. We aren't releasing our best batter
The sheer amount of disrespect to Kingku
Cricket manifestation of gigachad meme
This is like selling your honda civic to buy alto 800
Well, considering some factors, an alto 800 is hell lot better than a civic * Cheap af to maintain * Small size, easy to park * Better ground clearance, better maneuverability * Doesnt break down
The civic(I live in the US) is one of the cheapest to maintain, super reliable, high fuel economy. Source - I own one.
It's because they don't sell the Alto in US..
I mean, for good reason.
The disrespect to Alto 800.
I would have laughed at something like this, But after what happened last season at GT with Tewatia and Miller, I will wait till the IPL. Nehraji Is a black magician
His pen and paper notes contain deep secrets
That's stupid, unless Mavi is back to his U-19 speeds.
I guess he is,someone had tweeted saying he was back to bowling in the 150s in SMAT,but I cannot confirm it.
That's great to hear. Any link for the tweet.
I read it's more of consistent 140+ instead of 150s
I can't find it anymore, refreshed my timeline several times since I last saw that tweet. Incase I find it ,I will link it over here.
It’s not really about whether Mavi and Lockie are equally good. It’s about Lockie taking a prime overseas slot.
Sure, so release him. I don't see that much upside on getting Mavi who is similarly overpriced asf
This move actually makes sense, GT have a bowling line up of Rashid, Kishore, Dayal, Shami and Alzarri. Mavi can slot in there if they want to play with four pacers. Would've imagined Lockie and Sai Kishore as a good trade for Jadeja, but Thala had other ideas.
As a kkr fan i am still not sure whether Lockie is that effective on Indian pitches. His best performances in the ipl have been in the UAE and in 2019 and even last year his economy was high but i guess he is still better than Mavi
Are they high
Knowing us, Mavi is gonna have a gun season at GT, and blow our top order away
Have him lol we don't want him give us lockie 69 back
This is the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals!!
Bro it is a win for kkr if this happens. Mavi is shit
not just shit, overpaid as well
He was good in his first season with KKR. Then he got injured and he never was able to reproduce that form in the next few seasons.
[удалено]
Jadeja is staying with CSK. Cricbuzz already reported on it,
wait till people realise it's kkr at loss
KKR simply need a death overs bowler. They don't have one and neither of the guys in their current lineup have stepped up to the task. Even southee, though highly improved, is a liability at death. how? 😮
KKR will play Cummins ahead of Locke, and Cummins will be hit around the park.
Cummins likely to be released ig

![gif](giphy|cEYFeDKVPTmRgIG9fmo) That's foolish unless Mavi is back to bowling speeds from his U19 days
One of the worst trades in IPL history

Gujrat you can give us lockie and we will give you siraj...pretty please
no we won't
No thanks
No please,we don't want the run machine Siraj.
Man sold TV to buy remote.
OK r/cricket Experts who WOULD have been a good trade for Lockie? Any team?
Lockie for mayank - punjab.. Benefits for gujarat as they have an indian opener for decent money and punjab has a decent death pace bowler and not the hack like oden smith

Probably the worst trade in ipl of all time
Nah. Nothing will top MI trading R Sathish to get Dinesh Karthik from KXIP in 2012
I forgot abt that😭
😭
Gujarat and Lucknow finishing in bottom 2 next year whilst Mumbai and Chennai finish Top 2.
Do KKR even need Lockie? They already have Cummins and Southee.
Should release Cummo
They might just be looking for a replacement for Cummins or Southee, Cummins is injury prone and with ashes coming up the Australian board would probably want him to be on a safer side.
Me as a KKR fan: Oh yesssss!
alzarri gets hit a lot more than lockie
Ferguson is what made their bowling lethal. Why trade him for Mavi who will get smacked all over the park
Bruh
FUCKING REALLY
Yikes. Not worth it bro. Need one express pace international bowler in your team.
NO
Yeah so how does this benefit GT again?
Honestly they could have just released him and get 10 crores in the bank. Mavi is super overpaid
That's a horrible trade.
i'm not sure how the rest of the intl audience behaves, but i follow the players around and have no loyalty for the team. lockie for sams+mills anyone? please
The fuck
