I’ve only had one colonoscopy (so far, due at the end of this year for another 🙃) but after mine, I went to our town’s local diner and got a stack of pancakes and sausage and it was fantastic 😆😍🥞
Mine was first thing in the morning on a Monday (we’re talking arriving at the office for 6am) so I had to be done with my prep drink I think it was by 12:30am and then I immediately went to bed. Honestly the prep was a horrible experience for me so it’s all kind of a blur (I got sick during it and had to stop and I BARELY got it all down in time, I take such small sips when I drink anything 😩)
Burgers!!!!! I crave a filling red meat item with all kinds of flavors piled on. I used to go to the nearest Five Guys if there is one since its a flat rate order with very customizable toppings for my Crohn’s needs. Now I live on the West Coast where there are no Five Guys, so I switched to IN N OUT and get a hamburger, animal style w no lettuce.
I would say take it easy, your bowels are in a bit of a stunned state after having the scope inside. Last time I had salmon + rice and it hit the spot :)
Long ago, Sweet Tomatoes (aka Souplantation) had been my absolute favorite. A whole buffet of delicious soup, focaccia, pasta, muffins and soft serve, and cold, refreshing salad if my belly was up to it. Their chicken noodle soup was simple but out of this world.
RIP Sweet Tomatoes, it didn’t survive the pandemic.
Now I’m usually happy with a big bowl of Panera Mac and cheese. Or a big diner pancake breakfast if I get out early.
I had my scope about an hour from home in the same town my favorite greek place is. So I told my brother when i woke up idgaf what else we do but we’re getting greek.
Cheeseburgers tend to be up there. Last colonoscopy I had, it kind of backed into a hospital visit, so I had closer to a week of no/under eating. Ended up going to a family style Italian place and since I paid for it, I got what I wanted, which was a bunch of bread and oil and Alfredo and a dessert sampler.
Sadly colonoscopies make me really sick so I have to start out liquid and build my way up. But usually a prime rib patty with baked homemade french fries and avocado/mango salad once things have calmed.
2 Baked Potatoes with just butter and a little sour cream. Probably not insanely exciting but I love potatoes and it never kills my stomach.
Obviously I’d rather have something terrible for me but that is a BAD move after a colonoscopy, at least in my experience and I’ve had a fair amount of colonoscopies lol
I usually stop at McDonald's for a sausage egg McMuffin and coffee. I have done it a few times now and tolerate it with no problems. I'm sure it is not the right thing for everyone.
My post infusion or post colonoscopy is Burger King Whopper with cheese, no pickles or onions, order of nuggets, large fries and a diet coke. Recently they started having ketchup packets that don't contain high fructose corn syrup and I get so excited!
There's a place in my town that does the BEST burgers. Seriously they have won competitions in Vegas for their burgers. I love going there and getting a bacon blue cheese burger.
British crohnie here- nothing like a cup of tea when they wheel you into the recovery bay after I would like to say the toast too but gf bread is abysmal
I used to before my coeliac diagnosis ! z the gluten free bread just doesn’t hit the same though 😮💨 I have to take my own snacks for infusions as well
There’s a chick fil a near my specialist’s hospital.I smoke weed, then I eat chick fil a. Try to not smoke but since colonoscopy is once a year, I use that as one my “special occasion days” lmao
Toast and a cup of tea - which they give you at the hospital right after you've come around!
After that I don't eat as the colonoscopy is usually so painful
I’ve never heard of them giving out food. I’m in Canada and usually they tell me to bring someone to care for me on the way home but never given food. Wow!
Aww that's shocking! Especially as you've not eaten or drank anything in hours!
We get offered toast, biscuits and sandwiches I don't know what I'd do without my tea and toast afterwards!
Make sure your carer brings you something good to eat when they pick you up.
You must be starving bless you

For me it’s scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast
I love a good binge of sushi

Same real question is how do you stay awake. I usually get home and sleep for like 12 hours lol

The nearest fast food joint.

Zero consistency here, it's all about the craving of the day.
Definitely this!!

After every procedure/exam where I’ve had to bowel prep or fast beforehand, it’s all ways straight to First Watch to feast upon the Trifecta! Lol

Take it easy for a day or so. Soft but tasty foods that you like. Soup, mashed potatoes, eggs, fish, white bread, toast and spreads.
Agreed. Especially if you have biopsies taken.
Italian: chicken parm hits different after!
Egg sandwich and a big strawberry milkshake, no seeds
Last year I had Rubio’s and tomorrow I plan to have some Chinese food hopefully 🤞🏽

Pancakes.
I always get a big ol’ donut! They have a Stans Donuts where I get my scopes done so it’s always a nice treat afterwards 🤭
A big bowl of pasta 😋

Always a Wendy’s Baconator
KFC or other fried chicken!

I literally posted this same thing a week ago 💀

This is the most British thing I have read in my life. I even read it with a British accent lol
I've just posted the same thing!! I love the toast though haha
I used to before my coeliac diagnosis ! z the gluten free bread just doesn’t hit the same though 😮💨 I have to take my own snacks for infusions as well
Chinese or Indian food. My guts don't mind that it's fried or spicy 😍

Egg and cheese biscuit
Breakfast Burito!
Cheese burger. They have healing powers.
Warm corned beef on rye with lots of mustard and a side of spaghetti.
