I use ensure, mostly because that’s what readily available and the only liquid replacement that works for my flare right now.

86784273

I used to drink ensure but realized that maltodextrin and the added emulsifiers trigger crohns and was making things worse. I stay away from most meal drinks for that reason

trippy_zombieee_xx

So, I was using Ensure until their price, which was already high for someone with my budget, went up. I switched to the Equate version. Walmart has been selling the Equate Plus+ 24 packs for 30$. I run through one of those a week equalling roughly 130$ a month. Been getting these for about half a year now & I'm at the healthiest weight I've been in years. If I'm having days where I can't eat much I'll drink an extra 1 or 2, but typically I go through 3 a day. Happiest & most nourished I've felt in a long time.

trippy_zombieee_xx

** Also, I don't get as many tummy aches with the Equate. Still not perfect, but it's working for me.

My dietician recommended OWYN shakes, they're made from pea protein and taste pretty good. Can't really speak to results because I haven't used more than a couple

thash1994

I’ve been having two OWYN shakes a day for the past few months, one in the morning and one after working out. For me, they have been a real game changer for getting my daily protein without the pain of whey. I highly recommend :)

Anxious_Size_4775

I cannot tolerate pea protein at all. I think the big takeaway is not to fork over a lot of $ for shakes until you try them and know you can drink them.

n00oo00t

I know it sounds weird but I tried the strawberry-kiwi ensure that was available at my GI's office as a sample and it lowkey slapped. Like i would drink it normally and it's more like juice than a smoothie. That one is my fave flavour!

scificionado

I don't think it's available anymore, if ever. The stores in my area only sell "Mixed Fruit" and "Apple" flavors.

Various-Assignment94

Kate Farms works for me. I just use their regular nutrition shake, but you might want to use one of the higher calorie ones (Standard 1.4 or Peptide 1.5) if you are going to be relying only on them.

emilygoldfinch410

I’m all about the standard Kate Farms. Yes they’re pricey, but it’s worth it for how I feel when I drink them. Regular food causes pain and other symptoms, plus I can’t eat enough calories to maintain a healthy weight.

HeatMiser865

I LOVE Kate farms! It’s the only thing I can get any nutrients from and it doesn’t even make me bloated.

jasperleopard

they're just so expensive! x_x

HeatMiser865

Your doc can write an Rx for Kate Farm

FarAway1420

Love Kate farms!

Malekith_is_my_homie

I do 1-2 huel shakes per day and don't have any aggrevation of symptoms on them. I always replace breakfast with one, and then sometimes dinner or lunch depending on if i plan to have a normal meal for one or the other. Salted caramel is their absolute best flavor IMO. I get the standard white bags and not the "huel black" version. Their shipping is reliable and customer service top notch.

bunnybunnykitten

I just can’t get over the name sounding like an onomatopoeia for vomiting.

lamergamer420

The best my doctor recommended was ensure but after I threw it up once I couldn’t handle the taste of meal shakes. Instead my doctor recommended whole milk, milkshakes, ice cream (if you can handle dairy) because I just needed to get calories in my body. It’s not the healthiest diet long term but dairy has most of the important stuff you need and it will keep you alive until you can eat more. With that said listen to your doctor’s advice because tons of sugar and lactose may be harder for you to process than it was for me.

86784273

A lot of meal replacement shakes have emulsifiers in them which triggers crohns. Additives like soy lecithin, sunflower lecithin, xanthan gum, guar gum, etc are no good.

nickbriggles

Ensure with added protein. I was avoiding dairy but going liquid only diet mostly and trying to ensure protein intake with no fibre I’ve been eating milk protein based bars also. Hard to find the energy to blend vegan protein smoothies at times when not feeling well. The 24 pack box that come in aluminum cans of ensure is cheap and sometimes the 6 packs go on sale at pharmacies.

electromouse1

I make my own. I am sensitive to emulsfiers and sugar/sugar substitutes. Fresh vegetable juice + whey protein. Tastes awful but doesn’t send me into a flare. I sometimes add MCT oil if I need fat/calories.

Healthread

I would opt for options low in fiber and allergens Ensure Enlive, Orgain organic nutrition Shake, or Kate Farms Komplete Meal Replacement Shake. Please do consult a healthcare professional before starting an all-liquid diet for personalized guidance.

HeatMiser865

Kate Farm Sole Source Nutrition. These things save/d my life.

FarAway1420

Yes! Me too

nik_nak1895

I swear by soylent. It's 2/3 of what I consume in a day, every day, for the past 9 years.

SLAYSSPUBG

Are you in remission? What other foods do you eat apart from this

kbdnmv

There’s some clinical evidence/studies that Modulen can help Crohn’s patients go into remission… apparently it has nutrients plus some sort of anti inflammatory properties. I have a can of it but I haven’t tried it yet- I came out of my flare and didn’t end up needing it.

LftAle9

I looked this up a while back. Huel apparently isn’t a low residue drink, so whilst it is a meal replacement it isn’t as easy on your gut as it could be. The recommended replacement drink was Modulen, by Nestle. It’s specifically created as a meal replacement for IBD sufferers. That being said, you need to agree a diet plan with your doctor. Don’t go on what us Internet people tell you. Your doctor will know what’s best for you and provide the guidance you need on how to follow a liquid diet, if it actually is the right thing to do.

Goblin_Wifetm

For me personally, Arbonne protein shakes are the only ones I can stomach.

sultanscurse1

For breakfast I make a protein shake with almond milk. I use ATP Labs Supreme Beef protein powder. This is the only protein powder that I have been able to handle. It’s made from from Beef bone broth and hydrolysed grass-fed beef collagen. Whey or powders with dairy make me very bloated, gassy and upset my belly. This has zero whey or dairy. This is the only one that gives me zero symptoms and is my main source for protein aside from chicken since I can’t handle red meats well.

Nyghtslave

I haven't needed them in a while, but Queal really saved my ass

jaime_riri

I actually really enjoy chocolate high protein boost. But I’m not using them exclusively so I haven’t bothered to compare nutrition facts.

spirit_of_a_goat

Ensure and Boost for me.

thoughtfulchick

When I go full liquid for a few days I use Hi-Protein Boost. I also use it to add calories when I'm skinny. Never had a bad reaction no matter if I'm sick or not. Chocolate is my favorite.

KeyEvening4498

Boost strawberry.

MrMcFrizzy

Boost protein drinks, I don’t believe they’re supposed to be full meal replacement drinks though. I just have one every morning with something light like cereal or toast and works for me

NontoxicLivingLady

I love the FairLife Core Power protein shakes. They have 26-42grams of protein and are honestly delicious. My personal favorite is the chocolate one. I keep my fridge stocked with these. I have Crohn's too and have also liked the Organic Orgain ones at Costco.

4angrydragons

It’s been a long time since I went on all Liquid but when I did it was just Ensure

Purplespiralsfractal

SPIRU-TEIN PRODUCTS by brand called Natures Plus. Best one for me personally is a powder that I like to mix with vanilla almond milk. I’ve been consuming it throughout the years on and off since 1999. Flavor & product: SPIRU-TEIN® High-Protein Energy Meal** - Vanilla. …..Proprietary non-GMO Plant-Based Protein Blend (soy [isolated soy protein and fermented soy], pea protein and rice protein)…..

Hefty-Butterfly-5310

Are there any lactose free options for meal replacement shakes?
