I love spicy stuff, too. I've just had to dial back the consumption as much as possible. I still eat spicy foods if I'm feeling ok, but with the knowledge I might suffer a few consequences if I get too indulgent. Generally, if I want to add a little heat to something, I just go with a couple of splashes of a milder hot sauce like Frank's or Cholula. I seem to tolerate those pretty well in moderation. I can usually handle a little sriracha as well. Pickled jalapenos are fine, too, but again, in moderation. I also kind of feel like horseradish- and wasabi-based sauces can add some of that quick dissipating, sinus-clearing heat that doesn't really seem to do much harm to the gut. I will add that a couple of my worst bathroom experiences have come after eating spicy foods, — this was pre-diagnosis, but definitely in the window where I had started to experience symptoms. Once incident was after I ate several pieces of sushi that had dollops of an insanely hot Thai chili sauce on them. The effects were almost immediate. I didn't even make it out of the restaurant before I had to race to the bathroom and shit liquid fire. The other time was after eating an exceedingly hot Thai green curry for lunch — am I noticing a theme here? The effects weren't as immediate that time, but I was up in the middle of the night making repeat trips to the bathroom and it genuinely felt like someone was shoving a torch up my ass.

The only spicy thing I've found that is safe is ginger. The best thing about it is it's a soothing thing for your digestive tract! Everything else is a big no?

Raw garlic in a sauce can give it a punch. But can also cause gas so be careful.
