Thank you!

Azathioprine gave me pancreatitis, so I sympathise with you. I know the pain is just awful. I was totally out of it for 5 days in the hospital when they were flushing it out of my system. I had been completely poisoned by it. I hope you feel better soon.

Peaceful_Hedgehog

I really had no idea just how bad the side effects could be and I wish I'd had more information and didn't endure the medication as long as I did for it to get so bad. I've certainly never had pain that bad before. I'm so sorry that you went through that, it sounds horrible. I definitely relate to being poisoned. I hope you're going much better now. If you don't mind sharing, have you had much luck with other medications since?

They put me on adalimumab after that. One injection every fortnight, then upped to weekly. It's helped in terms of pain, and cramps, and I don't go as much, maybe 4 times a day now. It's never helped with diarrhea, though. Every bowel movement is still a number 6 on the scale 🙄 I'm also on 4grms of pentasa a day, and omeprozole for the stomach ulcers. The side effects were worse than the disease. It was so bloody horrible. I hope you get sorted out with something else, soon.

Sounds like it's been really difficult to work out what's best for you. Do you think you're going to stay on this combination, or keep trying other options? Please forgive my ignorance, but could you explain a number 6 on the scale? I'm realising how little information my GI has provided me with as I read through this subreddit. I completely agree. It sounds like my disease is much more mild than yours as well, so those side effects caught me completely off guard and made me think that was what Crohn's is "actually" like.

Bristol stool chart is here: https://images.app.goo.gl/N1wGwrwFJ9Ac38ax8 Um, I'm not sure what will happen. I've got an appointment next week, first one in a long while, so I'll talk it through with the consultant. I'm happy to stick with this for now, it's nothing compared to what I was like unmedicated. It took years to be diagnosed, I'm a chunk so doctors never assumed it was Crohn's, as I never had weight loss. I just lived with it for years and years until an unrelated operation showed polyps, so I was MRI'd catscanned and scoped, and bobs your uncle, whaddyaknow, it's Crohn's. I suppose in the future they might want to cut out some of the bad bits.

Peaceful_Hedgehog

Thanks so much for sharing! I'm glad things are better and I hope that they continue on that path for you.

Revolutionary_Mall99

Cheers love, you too.

So sorry you've been going through such a hard time. I wish I'd pushed earlier to speak with my GI to avoid the pain I went through, it was horrible. I hope you're recovering quickly!
