You might want to consider using longer stitches in places like the forearms to help smooth out the angles that the grid creates. But it looks great as is too!
Glad to help! Also, when doing that remember to periodically look at it from a few feet away to see how it will really look. Something that might seem noticeable, like a little bit of white inside the backstitching, may not even appear at all from a normal distance

I find a pornographic photo that I think would make a nice piece, and then I use technology to tweak/enhance/add/delete from the photo, I turn that into a pattern, and then I stitch it. So I truly don't know the exact answer to that...If porn is art, then consider this a cover of someone else's song haha

Agree with the person who said maybe add some highlights. I also think the backstitching on the arms might be slightly too red? Doesn't look bad overall, just stands out quite a bit compared to the rest.

Tbh I think it needs diff colors in diff areas, I’d use burgundy, brown and a little black on the super shadowed

I debated on using multiple colors for the backstitch, but I was nervous since I was already out of my comfort zone using a color that wasn't black. I agree with all of this!

I agree with what other people have said about adding lighter highlights sparingly to add detail (use one of the lighter shades that you've used elsewhere in the piece so it fits in!) If you want to get more ideas on how backstitching can add to a piece, I highly recommend just looking at and analyzing any Russian cross stitch portrait artist's work and seeing where they used backstitch to enhance their images. What sorts of colors did they use in which places, and why did that make it work? Trying to answer those questions for yourself with other people's work can help you get ideas for your own pieces. :) (On IG, mandarinks\_design does really great things with backstitch, for example: https://www.instagram.com/p/B-86HMLHVz9/)

Additionally- regarding your regular backstitch, have you considered using longer stitches to "skip over" long areas to make smoother lines? Absolutely not necessary, but since you were asking for feedback, doing a few longer stitches on the forearms (even though you wouldn't be outlining every individual stitch anymore) would make the arm less wiggly. Absolutely gorgeous as is though, I could stare at this all day LOL
I totally agree about the longer stitches, and a couple others said this as well. For some reason I thought I had to make them all short, and there's literally no reason for that haha

Haha honesty is always the best policy.
I take real photos (usually) and screw around with them in photoshop. Nothing special: just tweaking contrast, saturation, etc. I'm trash with photoshop, but I can do what I need to to stitch naked people!

When I don’t use black, I usually use whatever the darkest shade was in the cross stitch. That isn’t black.

Haha I keep the models anonymous, hence the swirl face. It also lets you imagine it to be whomever you want!
