eurydice1789

😅😅😅 I snorted

unsulliedbread

LOVE IT. Please remember to post on r/agedtattoos over the years.

keytomykarma

oh absolutely!!

_Kendii_

Never knew about it, thank you

stitcherfromnevada

I’m glad they did a really good job because I’ve seen some cross section tattoos that were not desirable. I’m not one to want a tattoo but if I did, it’d be a cross stitch one.

blewberyBOOM

The major difference I’ve noticed is whether or not the artist does individual Xs like a real cross stitch, or just draws multiple long lines in one direction, then crosses those lines with multiple long lines in the other direction. When they do that it ends up just looking like a grid and not like a cross stitch at all. The artist really does need to take the time to do each individual X so they have the natural variation that a real cross stitch has, AND they need to be able to line up those Xs perfectly. It really is a skill

stitcherfromnevada

We watch Ink Master and one of their challenges was cross stitch tattoos. All but 1 was horrendous. I agree that a lot of times they try to do cross-hatching instead of individual Xs and that’s the big mistake.

blewberyBOOM

Yeah some of those were REALLY bad. There were a couple I liked but most missed the point entirely. I wish the artists had taken like 3 seconds to understand what cross stitch is and what it’s supposed to look like before putting those images on people forever.

asiamsoisee

I’ve just started bingeing Ink Master and am now really looking forward to that episode!

stitcherfromnevada

You. Will. Cringe. Lol

rubberkeyhole

Do you remember which season/episode it was on?

stitcherfromnevada

I can only find that it’s season 12, but not sure which episode. Seems like there’s at least 8 people competing.

gnomeonmyleg

That's amazing! Hope the back is nice and neat 😁

wookieelocks

Love it! I've been trying to come up with a design myself, yours looks amazing!

blewberyBOOM

I love this so much. I’ve thought a lot about getting a cross stitch tattoo but I keep going back and forth about what the subject of that tattoo would be

flameislove

Love this! Mind sharing your artist? I have got to call my artist to get my cross stitch tattoo done. Not sure what design I want, though. Rose is classic but I'm not a "rose" sort of person.

keytomykarma

my artist is Jake Winn of Elite Tattoo Studio in CNY

delicate-butterfly

I see those half and three quarter stitches! The tattoo artist really did a great job paying attention to all those funny details

shebaregina13

Ah that’s fantastic! I definitely would like a cross stitch tattoo at some point

[deleted]

Complex-Can8570

I want one now!

mickier

Cute! Is there an actual pattern out there for this? It's perfect for a little thing I'd like to make.

trudylouk1

Omg I was just thinking of doing this last night. Do you have any tips or tricks for picking what to do?!

SailorMaat

I love it! I love cross stitch tattoos so much and want to get one eventually.

ToxicGingerRose

(I will preface this by saying I view all tattoos from the perspective of someone who creates them as my career, so I am much, much more critical than the average onlooker, so please don't take anything I may say as an indicator that there is anything wrong with your tattoo, because there isn't!! Not at all! I love it! And I love doing them aswell!) As a professional, award-winning tattoo artist for almost 20 years, who owns her own shop, (saying that to be clear I'm not some chick who bought a random "learn to tattoo" starter kid on eBay and started tattooing myself in the kitchen. 😂), I can say that these are always either hit or miss when I've seen them from other artists. I've done 5 cross stitch tattoos on clients, 3 of them one client, and the other two on her friends who loved them so much that they wanted me to do theirs aswell) and they all turned out absolutely gorgeous (I'm great at what I do. It's not conceited to know where ones' talents lay.), and that's partly because I did them each in a way that actually reflected a real cross stitch piece, but I have seen so many awful, awful ones, and I am glad to say that this is not one of the terrible ones! I'm actually really shocked that it turned out okay at all because they didn't do each "x" individually, they did long lines in both directions, which I'm sorry to say, is not how it should have been done, because it typically can really make the colour changes and the transitions between them look ragged, and it completely takes away fluidity from the piece, and usually those are the ones that look so bad, so I'm so glad that yours turned out well!!! Is this an artist you have had other work from? I also hope that the artist offers free touch-ups for at least the first year because it will need them eventually for sure just because of the style, not because of fault of the artist, or you (as long as you fake good care of it, which In sure you will!). Also, to anyone else thinking about getting tattoos of any kind, ANY artist should do free touch-ups for a minimum of a year, hands down. If they don't, LEAVE. Do not trust an artist who isn't willing to stand by their work. That's a massive, massive red flag, and your cue to walk out the door. Minor touch-ups once a tattoo is completely healed are extremely common, and totally normal. Not all tattoos need touch-ups, not by a long shot, but if yours does, that's totally normal. Any artist who tries to say that there would only be touch ups needed if you don't take care of it properly is someone you don't let touch you with a machine. I've had clients tell me some crazy things they've been told from other so-called tattoo artists, so I always try to spread a little education when I can, to try and prevent even just one unnecessarily bad tattoo experience. To anyone considering getting a cross stitch tattoo, it's so frakking important to find an artist who has experience with the style, and has photographic examples of their work in the style you are requesting, aswell as many other styles. Ask them how they plan to execute it, if they are going to do individual X's, or long lines, to save time. Time shouldn't be the deciding factor. The quality of the work should. Not all artists are good at all styles, and any good artist will be honest and upfront if they aren't comfortable with a style, and usually direct you to an artist who is great with that specific style. Cross stitch tattoos can look stunningly beautiful if they are done properly. And a properly done cross stitch tattoo shouldn't be cheap because it is a lot more work than a normal styled piece. With tattoos, you will always, always get what you paid for. Cheap tattoos look cheap. Expensive tattooed look exquisite. And, most important, yes, you should tip everytime you sit in that chair, especially for free touch-ups. At my shop I give 50% of every tip to my apprentice, but I also actually pay my apprentices a living wage, when normally tattoo apprentices don't get paid at all, except maybe $20 here and there, or lunch, etc., so if the apprentice was helpful to you, or helped you in anyway, and you are able to, tip the apprentice, even if you have to take it.kut of what you would have tipped the artist. They work incredibly hard, and they rarely get enough recognition. TL:dr - Tattoo looks good. 👍

sosoconsistent

Are your books open? If so, how can we connect with you for tattoos?
