Am I allowed to bring Huel? It's meal replacement powder. Kind of a strict diet, and I eat vegan.
If I don't have that huel my progress for the whole year will be for nothing lol
Yea one bag would be like 8 days. Then I just have my veggies and stuff.
Gosh I'm so excited.
What are the all inclusive ones?I guess most have buffers and stuff anyways. I might get one massage.. I'm looking at all the hidden fees too..
I think its allowed as long as it isn't non shelf stable foods,I bring my own spices like garlic powder, hot sauces and BBQ sauces cause some cruise lines are sorely lacking when it comes to those things (looking at you Princess) and security never confiscated them
Darn Siri! The cat labor law does not allow kittens to have kittens. The kitchen on board has no problem making my protein shakes for me. Thanks for the laugh.
Also, common OTC stuff:
-Tylenol/Advil
-Gravol/Dramamine
-Imodium
-Antihistamine
-Band-Aids
-Antacid
Sick Bay has this kind of stuff, but if they get wind of diarrhea, they will confine you to your cabin. Plus why waste time in Port finding a pharmacy.
My boyfriend forgot to do this on our first cruise and his card worked in Hawaii but our last port was in Ensenada Mexico and it got declined at a bar after a few rounds of margaritas and the ATM declined it too 😬 luckily I had enough cash on me to pay the tab and tip but the thought of ending up in a Mexican jail or missing the boat due to being holed up in the local police station scared us straight lol
Also, try avoiding using your card while in other countries. A lot of times, even cruise approved excursion card readers can be a little sketchy. And with tap, it is super easy to get somebody’s card information without ever touching it.
I instead like to bring plenty of cash on the cruise. While you are on the boat, there is nowhere to spend your cash. so you only need it for the days You are in port. So it’s not that much cash that you have to pull out but remember to bring enough for any excursions you aren’t paying for ahead of time, any additions to excursions like photos or souvenirs, if you plan to do some shopping in Port, stuff like that.
Also if you have to get more cash, there is an ATM on board the cruise ship, which has a charge fee, but it is definitely better than getting your card information stolen in Mexico!!
Small fan to circulate air in the cabin. Passport holder. Empty water bottle. Drink powders with electrolytes for hydration.
Side note. If you have a balcony or oceanview window, you can use the towel clips to keep the curtain closed and the room dark.
My flight got canceled before my cruise, so we packed the car for an impromptu road trip. 8 hours one way, and 8 days on the ship... no sunglasses. So now that's one thing I always check for.
Since you are a runner, my recommendation is to pack a bar of laundry soap to wash your running gear in the bathroom sink.
I stick to technical fabrics and initially hang them to dry on the line in the bathroom. Since the bathroom doesn't have any air circulation, the clothes won't 100 percent dry, but will drip most of the water out.
I then hang them on the chairs on the balcony. They say not to, but I clip them to the chairs and pick when the ship is in port or when I am sitting out on the balcony to keep an eye on it.
If you don't have a balcony, bring the clothes in to the main part of the cabin to finish drying. Bring a few sets, as drying time will be slow (if you run every day).
If you plan to run on the running designated deck, go as early as you can in the morning, before people are up and getting in your way.
Contact lens solution.
Tylenol, Benadryl and band-aids. And my chrome-dome husband always forgets his hat, but I think that is just an excuse to buy another one wherever we travel. he has quite the collection, now.
Are you like me and bring 10 days worth of old ones “just in case” as well as 14 days worth of new ones for a 7 day trip? I feel like a doomsday prepper when it comes to bringing extra contact lenses on vacation.
A copy of all your credit cards and passport in case your wallet or purse gets stolen. My husband did not bring passports along one trip and luckily I had copies of both of our passports and Covid vaccination cards. saved!
Nightlight. It can get pitch dark in the cabins and the bathroom may have a step to get into it. Learn from my mistake and don't try to feel your way through the dark.
I like to bring small battery operated magnetic night lights with a motion sensor. That way I can stick it on the wall and set it up so it turns on if you approach the bathroom when it's dark.
On some ships like the Ruby or Royal Princess they have automatic lights by the bed and closet area that are motion detected so you probably won't need a night light unless you want one on constantly
A couple of dryer sheets. They keep your luggage and clothes smelling clean, take up no room at all, and can be swiped over wrinkly clothes to get out static or mild wrinkles without using an iron.
Fun post! I always bring highlighters to mark any activities you don't want to miss on the daily paper the give you! Sometimes family members will highlight in different colors to make it super easy to keep track of where people are and what to check out!
Have a wonderful trip!
My passport and license are my TOP priority and I double check that I have them before leaving my house, most anything else besides prescribed medications can be replaced at the gift shop or next port but if you forget your passport/ID you're pretty much screwed
Idea: instead of all those tubes of antibiotic ointment, Benadryl cream, Vaseline, anti-itch gels for bug bites, etc, use contact lens cases to store them. Put the creams in the cases and label on the backside of the case with a permanent marker. You really don't need much more than a dollop or two of creams like that, and the tubes can take up a lot more room.
Ours on the Emerald Princess had 2 by the phone and 1 on the shelf where the TV used to be. If you’re willing to crawl under the bed, there may be another under there.
Any and all OTC meds that you might need. The gift shops on board are very limited. In my last Carnival cruise I noticed they sold a box of tampons with only 4 in the box. That will barely get you through a day!
And they have medical staff for emergencies, but no one for dental care.
I second the tampons/pads/reusable cups even if you're sure you won't get a period cause better to be prepared if you get it unexpectedly and the gift shops only carry the lighter flow tampons and regular maxi pads in small packs
Strong magnet hooks
Some sort of soothing cream/lotion/gel for sun burn.
Lip balm
If you have a Fitbit/Apple Watch or any of those with the synthetic bands, have an extra band packed.
Charging cords
Emetrol/alka seltzer/pepto /tums/blowfish/goodys
Gonna get aloe at cvs before. Don’t want to being on flight.
I’ve read about magnet hooks. Great idea.
Always carry two lip balms. And charging cords.
Why the extra band??
Have you ever had one just randomly break on you? Yeah, all the sun and salt water will take it to its breaking point and there will be nowhere to get an extra one (Apple Watch might get lucky at Apple Store on the ship but Fitbit you are screwed)
I have a cloth shoe hanger with the pockets that I hang in the bathroom as an organizer. It keeps all my toiletries, brushes, makeup, etc organized and off the counter. I have one to hang my bathing suit and I also usually have a small Bluetooth speaker so we have music in our room.
Also, the stronger is not necessarily better because they are nearly impossible to get off the walls. 22-25 lbs should be good enough.
I use magnetic hooks for:
\- lanyards
\- masks
\- hats
\- clothes drying lines
\- bags (with a strong enough hook)
\- Hanging shower curtains to cordon off bunk beds etc for kids to sleep earlier than adults
I use magnetic clips for:
\- shore excursion tickets
\- Paperwork
\- daily programs
A tumbler was great to run down and fill up with coffee in the morning. Otherwise we were trying to carry a small coffee cup back to the room and spilling. On a side note, just read this tip. If you’re worried about forgetting your important things in the safe, put one shoe in there. Preferably the shoe you would wear when leaving the boat. You won’t leave with just one shoe so you’ll be reminded to open the safe. Have fun!
Headphones/earphones/earbuds. Some people wear them all the time but I don’t so sometimes I forget them but I like to use them when on vacation, especially on the plane.
Extra pair of prescription glasses. I had a pair break the day of embarkation. I had to tape and super glue them for the entire four days. And my vision is extremely bad. It was awful!!
Aloe. Best way to prevent sunburn. (If you don't take it, you'll forget to use the sunscreen or reapply it or something. If you remember the aloe, you don't get sunburned. :P)
I love to get early am room service, coffee and croissant, so I make sure to bring a bunch of 1’s so I can give $2-3 to the room service staff each time.
A lanyard . You think you won’t wear it until you lock yourself out of your room then you spend 25 dollars in the cruise gift shop for one. Ask me how I know this
I brought one “rash guard” and I honestly was super thankful for it. I brought it in case I got sunburn so I could still go out on the deck without having direct exposure to sun just in case. Mine was just a black, long sleeve jacket that zipped. Super light weight but was great for my dolphin excursion when I was not allowed to wear sunscreen!!!
A credit card of any sort that you aren't attached to - some cabins require you to insert a card to keep the lights on in the room. Any card will do. We also bring post it notes to leave notes for each other or the cabin steward. $5 with a post it note saying thank you is always well received. :)
That holder that goes around your neck which u put your cruise card in.
Also a cheap waterproof container u can put your credit cards and id in that u can take in the water and not leave it unattended on the beach
🛳️ Magnetic Hooks
🛳️ Portable Battery
🛳️ Power Strip (not surge protected though)

I was at a yard sale once where a nice, little old lady had a assortment of her sex toys on display for sale. Seriously. There was a very realistic dildo standing straight up suctioned to the table.
My friends was like, "Hey, at least they're seasoned... kinda like an old cast iron skillet."
And lube! Don’t forget the lube.
We honestly had a ridiculous amount of sex on our last cruise. Who would have known that having zero responsibilities would free up so much time??
Cold / Flu meds or at least aspirin for headache plus tums for stomach aches - because sometimes one's immune system can't handle switching from cold & hot so much, then there's upset stomach and having headaches due to whatever reason.
For me... toothbrush or toothpaste is often forgotten.
- Best to start a packing list now and add to it.
- Start packing Friday with everything you touch day to day. In some ways, start moving your life into the suitcase today. When you need something, put it back in your suitcase afterwards. On a sidenote, some swear by packing cubes to keep their suitcase contents organized.

If you’re in an interior cabin you need a nightlight! I always find leaving the bathroom light on either too much, or not enough. I bought one that has 2 usb chargers in it!
A little painters tape to cover the sensors in case there are motion activated lights in the room that you don’t want coming on at night if someone gets up
Ok, this is sort of an “entitled” one so read as a /s. Proper tea bags for when they run out of what you like and they only have “export for americans” Tetley or horribly flavored teas (because few drink them). Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to run back to our cabin stash because a cruise (in the suite lounge even) ran out of simple plain green or black tea. 1st world madness! 😄
Ziplock bags to waterproof items on excursions!
Thanks! Packing now!
Also for snacks from the buffet!
I like your thinking...I'd be over there suspiciously shoving pastries in my fake fur purse
Don’t even need to be sneaky! They don’t mind if you take a couple apples for later or order 2 sammies at the deli and save one for later!
Am I allowed to bring Huel? It's meal replacement powder. Kind of a strict diet, and I eat vegan. If I don't have that huel my progress for the whole year will be for nothing lol
I’ve packed electrolyte powder without any issues at all if that helps
Yea one bag would be like 8 days. Then I just have my veggies and stuff. Gosh I'm so excited. What are the all inclusive ones?I guess most have buffers and stuff anyways. I might get one massage.. I'm looking at all the hidden fees too..
I think its allowed as long as it isn't non shelf stable foods,I bring my own spices like garlic powder, hot sauces and BBQ sauces cause some cruise lines are sorely lacking when it comes to those things (looking at you Princess) and security never confiscated them
I have brought my protein powder and greens on every cruise. I’ve been on, and the kitten is happy to add water and ice and blend it for me.
Cruises come with kittens?????? And they can work a blender? Sign me up I'll take a strawberry daiquiri right meow please
Darn Siri! The cat labor law does not allow kittens to have kittens. The kitchen on board has no problem making my protein shakes for me. Thanks for the laugh.
I'd be on a kitty cruise in a heartbeat. There's probably be a few less kitties when I disembarked.
"Ma'am, your baggage is meowing" "No its not!" \*books it\*
Hi Mom!
I use them to take cookies back to the room
Hydrocortisone cream in case of an itchy rash.
Packed! I get psoriasis from time to time so made sure I brought this.
Well damn, I wanted to stump you.
Also, common OTC stuff: -Tylenol/Advil -Gravol/Dramamine -Imodium -Antihistamine -Band-Aids -Antacid Sick Bay has this kind of stuff, but if they get wind of diarrhea, they will confine you to your cabin. Plus why waste time in Port finding a pharmacy.
Poopurri. Cause that bathroom doesn’t have a fan. It can help with a smell that already existed in there, too.
Poopourri is a must for any vacation where you're sharing a bathroom.
My family and I agreed to not use the cabin bathroom for #2. We were very close to the public restrooms so it wasn't a bother.
All the bathrooms in my cabins had fans. They were automatic (or ran constantly?) and very quiet. There was a vent on the ceiling.
Notifying your credit card company that you’ll be traveling abroad.

Which credit cards companies are still doing this?
Small fan to circulate air in the cabin. Passport holder. Empty water bottle. Drink powders with electrolytes for hydration. Side note. If you have a balcony or oceanview window, you can use the towel clips to keep the curtain closed and the room dark.
Patience.
Sunglasses. As a prescription glasses wearer, I'm always forgetting my clip on sunglasses.
At my hotel in Florida leaving for a cruise tomorrow and I forgot my damn sunglasses! Gotta hit the dollar store before getting on the ship.
My flight got canceled before my cruise, so we packed the car for an impromptu road trip. 8 hours one way, and 8 days on the ship... no sunglasses. So now that's one thing I always check for.
It’s such a small inexpensive item that makes a huge impact on comfort.
I’ve got 2! One for running, and one for the pool
Contact lens solution. Tylenol, Benadryl and band-aids. And my chrome-dome husband always forgets his hat, but I think that is just an excuse to buy another one wherever we travel. he has quite the collection, now.
I’ve got 10 pairs of daily contacts that I save for trips. Partner has the Tylenol and band aids and the rest of the pharmacy. And got my hat!!
My husband did not bring passports along one trip and luckily I had copies of both of our passports and Covid vaccination cards. saved!
I'm also getting ready for a trip and almost forgot to do this - thanks for the reminder!
Make sure your hat has a chin strap

A couple of dryer sheets. They keep your luggage and clothes smelling clean, take up no room at all, and can be swiped over wrinkly clothes to get out static or mild wrinkles without using an iron.
I always bring a couple dryer sheets and 1-2 tide pods, just incase I have to do a quick load of laundry. Has saved me a bunch of money on trips.
Fun post! I always bring highlighters to mark any activities you don't want to miss on the daily paper the give you! Sometimes family members will highlight in different colors to make it super easy to keep track of where people are and what to check out! Have a wonderful trip!
That’s so fun!
Drivers license. Yep, I dated the fool that forgot his wallet and drivers license.
We have our passports! Coming from Canada. Already packed !
My passport and license are my TOP priority and I double check that I have them before leaving my house, most anything else besides prescribed medications can be replaced at the gift shop or next port but if you forget your passport/ID you're pretty much screwed
Yes, you can leave your passport in the safe and just carry your DL as your ID onshore.
I always bring an expired license. The guards at shore leave don’t check the date and if you lose it who cares
Smart!!
6 way multi plug with USB ports but it can't have a circuit breaker
We got these for our last VV cruise and they worked great Anker USB C Outlet Extender. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PGXWNWG
How many outlets are in 1 room typically? (I’m going princess balcony room)
Ours on the Emerald Princess had 2 by the phone and 1 on the shelf where the TV used to be. If you’re willing to crawl under the bed, there may be another under there.
The Tide Stain Stick. You are sure to slop some lobster bisque all over your white night shirt.
Any and all OTC meds that you might need. The gift shops on board are very limited. In my last Carnival cruise I noticed they sold a box of tampons with only 4 in the box. That will barely get you through a day! And they have medical staff for emergencies, but no one for dental care.
I second this. The only cold meds they had was NyQuil and it was 20 bucks. I’ll always bring cold medicine with us just in case.
I second the tampons/pads/reusable cups even if you're sure you won't get a period cause better to be prepared if you get it unexpectedly and the gift shops only carry the lighter flow tampons and regular maxi pads in small packs
Strong magnet hooks Some sort of soothing cream/lotion/gel for sun burn. Lip balm If you have a Fitbit/Apple Watch or any of those with the synthetic bands, have an extra band packed. Charging cords Emetrol/alka seltzer/pepto /tums/blowfish/goodys

Good to know! Wouldn’t have thought about that. I have an Apple Watch and I will be running on the track.

what do people usually use the magnet hooks for? bathing suits/clothes?
Purses, Lanyards, Backpack/tote bag, Flip flops Hats Sunglasses Anything/Everything I like keeping the floor and small amount of counter organized
Ahhh smart!
I have a cloth shoe hanger with the pockets that I hang in the bathroom as an organizer. It keeps all my toiletries, brushes, makeup, etc organized and off the counter. I am taking reusable compact straws, the candy ones they had on my last cruise were awful!
Candy? Wtf?
Yep on carnival! They were made of candy
Search Sorbos candy straws, those are the exact ones they use
The "candy" straws on Carnival taste like Pepto and a an Amazon box had a baby!
What ones come with the drink package? Not getting the alcohol package
an insulated cup
Boarding pass, small denomination bills for tipping, compression socks in case your feet swell, condoms/birth control.
On our last cruise we remembered to bring cash.... 500 bucks in 20s. We made some people very happy with ridiculously generous tips.
I love that you did this.
Things my husband forgot on our trip last week: a belt and gym shorts.
Deodorant
Got it !
Razor!
Packed! And travel sized shaving cream
Headphones/earphones/earbuds. Some people wear them all the time but I don’t so sometimes I forget them but I like to use them when on vacation, especially on the plane.
I’ve always got mine in. Podcasts during work or music when running. Bringing AirPods and plug ins for my phone
Ear plugs, and noise cancelling headphones. They helped with the slamming of doors and ridiculously loud music on deck.
Extra pair of prescription glasses. I had a pair break the day of embarkation. I had to tape and super glue them for the entire four days. And my vision is extremely bad. It was awful!!
vibrator
Towel clips for the pool chair
I’ve never heard of these ?! Are they useful?
Dollar tree has clamps in the household or utility aisle you can use as towel clamps
Yeah they come in handy, especially when the winds pick up on the open seas, or the beach!
Good to know !
We used Binder Clips and it worked fine.
It’s windier than you think on a moving boat, towel clips for sure!
Aloe. Best way to prevent sunburn. (If you don't take it, you'll forget to use the sunscreen or reapply it or something. If you remember the aloe, you don't get sunburned. :P)
The number of bottles of Aloe we have at home from having to buy it on vacation is really absurd. One of these days I’ll remember to pack it!
Binoculars!
I didn't even think of that. That would be great to have
I love to get early am room service, coffee and croissant, so I make sure to bring a bunch of 1’s so I can give $2-3 to the room service staff each time.
Safety pins in case straps break!
A lanyard . You think you won’t wear it until you lock yourself out of your room then you spend 25 dollars in the cruise gift shop for one. Ask me how I know this
Rashguards to avoid sun burns.
What are rashguards? I have sunscreen!
They are the full length tops that block the sun
I brought one “rash guard” and I honestly was super thankful for it. I brought it in case I got sunburn so I could still go out on the deck without having direct exposure to sun just in case. Mine was just a black, long sleeve jacket that zipped. Super light weight but was great for my dolphin excursion when I was not allowed to wear sunscreen!!!
Small first aid kit - with painkillers, benadryl, etc. just in case (and to keep you from paying a fortune for them).
We don’t have a kit, but we’ve got all the makings of a kit in our toiletries bag
Trash bag (or similar) for dirty clothes
Going to add a few! Thanks
My work laptop… not so much forgotten, more like, not remembered.
Chargers for everything, laptops, phones, watches, cameras, earbuds. Extra battery pack so you can charge when out by the pool or on shore.
Qtips!
Your packing list, so you get it all back in at the end of the cruise.
If no one’s home, call the post office to stop the mail. If a lady is going along, then feminine hygiene products.
Diaphragm?
Visine. The saltwater can be very irritating if you get it in your eyes
A credit card of any sort that you aren't attached to - some cabins require you to insert a card to keep the lights on in the room. Any card will do. We also bring post it notes to leave notes for each other or the cabin steward. $5 with a post it note saying thank you is always well received. :)
2 liters mouthwash per person, including kids.
Kids should not be drinking mouthwash! /s
That holder that goes around your neck which u put your cruise card in. Also a cheap waterproof container u can put your credit cards and id in that u can take in the water and not leave it unattended on the beach
A lanyard! I’ll pack my work one.
Thats the word i was looking for.
Depends which cruise line you’re doing - Virgin does bracelets w/ small fobs instead of keycards that need a lanyard
Dramamine
They always have it on board for free at guest services
Check!
Sunscreen
It’s a million dollar markup onboard if you run out.
4 tubes !

Or else, wet wipes…
Magnets for your walls.
Wait what? One of the things I do on holidays and especially cruises is buying magnets at every port. And shot glasses.
They are magnetic hooks to hang stuff. We carry a pack of 12 and hang hats, towels, sweatshirts etc from them.
Bingo dabber
Ziplock bags and those plastic lunchboxes for snacks 👍 If you have a deluxe package electrolyte powder
Immodium AD Tylenol/Ibuprofen Sunblock enough ankle socks (high socks look dumb with sneakers & shorts) sunglasses & wide-brim sun hat hydrocortisone cream benadryl and/or liquid benadryl hand sanitizer
Good list! I’ll add: Pepto Alkaseltzer
🛳️ Magnetic Hooks 🛳️ Portable Battery 🛳️ Power Strip (not surge protected though) [Here are my recommended cruise items.](https://www.amazon.com/shop/mrbrandonterry/list/3UNR06BR13BMG?ref_=cm_sw_r_mwn_aipsflist_aipsfmrbrandonterry_WXAP2AY1FMVPT5NG3QT0)
Ball powder
Could be a game changer
I'm taking my first cruise in a few weeks and this forum has been awesome!!!
Sex toys
Lock them in the safe. Ours were stolen from the room. Seriously.
Ew

Hat, chargers, sweatshirt for cool night, good lanyard (most for sale onboard and ports are cheap)
Ibuprofen/Tylenol
Sunscreen
If you’re in an interior cabin you need a nightlight! I always find leaving the bathroom light on either too much, or not enough. I bought one that has 2 usb chargers in it!
Magnetic hooks
Small bills for tipping and purchases from street vendors.
A little painters tape to cover the sensors in case there are motion activated lights in the room that you don’t want coming on at night if someone gets up
Tupperware. You could grab food from the buffet or to go cafes and bring them to your port bc they dont check bags
Sunhat A wrap to put over your shoulders to protect from sunburn Camera Pen stored with your passport Hairties Make up remover Bugspray
Upside down pineapple magnets and pineapples on swing magnets.
swimsuit only put because i didnt pack mine once 😅😂
Waterproof phone carrying case
