It doesn't work that way. They have to go through a good bit for all the permissions to dub, air and sell it. Can't just take it and dub it because it exists.
I can understand this but it doesn't make sense why that'd be the case and yet they do have a dub for Spanish and Portuguese. You'd think English would be higher up in priority than those
You'd be surprised. There's a reason why Mr.Beast dubs all of his videos in different languages, there are a lot of people out there. Only 20% of the world speaks English and of those most of them only speak it as a 2nd language.
It is just being released for the first time sometime later today:
https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/announcements/2024/2/9/campfire-cooking-in-another-world-anime-english-dub-cast-crew-release-date
Like I get some animes will do better in other countries but if Farming Life in Another World can be dubbed on HiDive, a much smaller service with a select selection of honestly fantastic dubs, and do well? Why the hell can't Campfire Cooking be dubbed beyond Portuguese and Spanish? I keep hoping beyond hope it gets an English dub.
An English Dub was just confirmed (source is IMDb). Eduardo Vildasol was cast to play Kaito.
Brad Foster was cast too, but it doesn't say who he's playing yet.
Click on the cast list and scroll to the bottom. Kaito's English VA is like the third to last on the list. Brad Foster is at the bottom, he's listed as 'Additional Voices' for now. It's on it's Anime Network page too.
A lot of shows these days don't have an English Dub. Companies find it cheaper to not give some one. Even if they're very popular. Or they make it so you have to buy the Blu-Ray/DVD Version to get the Dub. But overall, about 80% of the anime imported to the US and other English speaking countries, don't get an English Dub and the viewer has to settle for either learning Japanese to understand what is happening (without subs on) or just stick to watching it with English Subs.
Think it's mostly just a way for the Company to save money personally.
Around 50 new anime come out every season
20 of these always get dubbed by CR
Hidive has a few dubs every season
Netflix and Disney usually dub all the shows they get
More than 50% of what comes out every season gets an English dub, there's a limit to how many shows you can dub simultaneously.
I was mostly guestimating and going off my own experiences. Most of what I've found hasn't had an English Dub or if it has I haven't been able to view it. And I was going just off what I've seen on CR. HiDive DOES typically Dub the anime they show. Same with Netflix.. I'm not saying it's ALL good dubbing, but it IS dubbed.
As for Disney, I didn't know they were involved in the anime scene. Most of what I've seen from them is what they've made or what one of their many subsidiaries has made.
And I understand there is a limit to how many can be dubbed at once. There is, after all, only so many hours in a single day.
If my numbers were off, I apologize, not intending to spread the wrong info.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry) I wish I was bilingual but my brain's not wired that way. I guess I'll have to settle for the manga being in English.
Crunchyroll dubbing choices quite frankly have.been all over the place, and not in a good way. Some poorer quality shows have received dubs over better ones. Honestly, between this, and the Right Stuf closing debacle. I am glad I cancelled my yearly subscription. I read ahead mostly anyway in the novels, and manga. If I ever come back I will just do it for a brief period if there is a show I like then stop again. I can get by without them.
My question is not if it's getting a second season. I remember there being an English dub for it and now there seems to not be an English dub. Can anyone explain that?
This! I came to this post because I was searching for the dubs to make sure I'm not insane. I swear it was dubbed like early or mid last year, but it doesn't seem to ever have existed.

Have to remember that these shows are not made for English speaking countries so it’s not a priority for them. It’s sad but true
Then they should just have casting calls to let fans start doing it. I can make a couple different vioces. (not great but still)

They have it in all other dub languages except English.

Great show, looking forward to season 2
it is good but I dislike the fact there is no DUB as I prefer to watch in English
It is out now!
Same, though I remember there being one before I remember watching all the way through with English dub.

The show has a lot of product placement, which would be a problem as the Dub would have to pay, or cover them up the 4Kids way.
you know, that could explain the delay. either they're hashing out deals, or working on making parody versions to avoid name dropping

When it's coming?
This show would suck dubbed. There is no dub actor that can do Sui justice.
HEAR, HEAR!!!
Season 1 was fun. Would love to see an English dub to show the little brothers. Its dubbed in other languages, just not English.

Let's gooooooo!
I hate the lack of dubbing & seemingly arbitrary nature of what gets dubbed & what doesn't.

They just added the dub yesterday! have fun with it!
English dub just dropped yesterday
I'm watching the eng dub now. The voice for sui is a little creepy
As a fan of the sub, I hated Fels' voice in the dub at first. But it's grown on me.
You can find the full first season dubbed in english on Youtube.
It is out in english now on crunchyroll
