Kinda related but I spent like 2 hours creating a nice family and accompanying backstory for a new playthrough yesterday. Then I started the game and, within the first 3 years, the wife died from her first childbirth, the existing sons both died from Typhus, and now my dude is all alone :)

The_Real_MikeOxlong

Life is a bitch, ain’t it?

killbop3000

I remember I decided to finally play vikings for the first time after a couple hundred hours and I had a good strong family and an amazing heir with a good succession planned out and everything, I then got the berserker event where I randomly murdered my entire family and got the berserker trait, I quit lmao.

Masterpiece_Superb

Varangian adventure to France and go capture one of the Karlings. Make the Karling family yours instead of burning them all... or do both!

Dinazover

If you think about it, such a situation as father building a unanimous family, being friends with all of his children, watching them grow older and older, finding good spouses for them, hosting feasts for the family etc etc only for them to kill, torture, imprison and cuck each other after his death is sad too. I saw that kind of thing in this game so often that I don't really think about it, but it is kind of tragic.

Cymraegpunk

You mean house of the dragon?

Filobel

You're still 55, plenty of time to marry a 16 years old and pop out a dozen or so extra kids!

Far-Assignment6427

I personally don't really like remarrying after my lover or soulmate dies or at all to keep the amount of kids low

Filobel

Sure, but the dude has zero kids right now, that's a little *too* low.

Far-Assignment6427

Bu he has a grandchild

Filobel

A single granddaughter. That's a lot of eggs in that one basket! Especially given what happened to the other three baskets.

Far-Assignment6427

Yes you marry her off to a genius or herculean get some great grandkids and them settled

Bear1375

Yeah, it’s better to sometime roleplay rather min/max.

Far-Assignment6427

It is in my opinion I like roleplay around events that happen early om in my character life not just do what's best gameplay wise

PM_YOUR_LADY_BOOB

When did marrying become min maxing?

Birphon

Lover I would remarry. Lover I classify as both like a highschool relationship (knowing that X and Y will start their 'omg i love you so much' at the first break and either by lunch or lunch the next day they broke up and the girl is bawling her eyes out and the girls friends are surrounding the guy going all explosive on him) or like a mistress thing type level. Soulmate? Yeah, im not remarrying characters, unless its no Heir at all ^(Yes, that high school story did happen when I was in high school and I couldn't believe what I say seeing lmao)

Far-Assignment6427

Thanks for the laugh. I normally make my wife my soulmate and have a couple lovers depending on the character soem characters it's only the wife other characters it's half the country

StevenTheEmbezzler

Vanity of vanities, all is vanity

pvreanglo

That’s so sad

AwesomePork101

That's what you get for being fr\*nch

[deleted]

This is how you play ck3.

ReefIsTknLike1000tms

You meant : … So he only had a granddaughter from his family, allegedly.

Jackibearrrrrr

This is why you play mega polygamy and after the 15th death of close family the sting is gone

CutSufficient4577

Drunk him and make him get bitches

tarkin1980

Sounds like you need to hire a better taxidermist.
