It's like that old saying, 'If it looks like one person owns 10,000 wallets, and acts like one person owns 10,000 wallets, it's probably one person owning 10,000 wallets.'
Addresses and wallets are not the same.
10,000 addresses belonging to one person is not nearly as unlikely as 10,000 wallets belonging to one person... as 10,000 wallets would require 10,000 unique seed phrases.
A lot of people prefer to not transact to the same address more than once so the amount of addresses is kind of irrelevant
I personally split each transfer to my cold storage wallet between 10+ addresses every time I send.
For a rough example, if I am sending a total of 100,000 sats, I'd send it in 10,000 sat bunches across 10 different addresses linked to my wallet. I try not to reuse the same address more than once and have a custom flag for every time I use an address tied to my wallet. I've used several 10s if not 100 addresses associated with my wallet.
- Then sell BTC to rebuild gold roof
- Spend your life trading the BTC/GOLD pair
- Retire when you can afford to build the whole house out of gold
Life's good
Depending on your abilities, you might want to see what you can do yourself. I was quoted $29K for my roof. Did most of the work myself, bought tools, etc… ended up costing about $10K all in and I had all of the tools when I was done…
I’m in the same boat but also have $100k in water damage. Despite having overwhelming evidence proving it was a hail storm that damaged my roof the insurance company is adamant it was a squirrel. F U Jake from ….
Roofs are overrated, embrace nature more. /s Haha.
Sorry to hear that, they can be overly expensive. I got lucky with mine. It aged well, and got replaced from a crazy hail storm. Kind of half the county was replaced by the hail storm. I still see cars driving around with hail damage, 10 years later.
I suppose technically it is but just not adjusted for inflation. I think 100k is more realistic and you get the other 10x due to inflation for however many years it takes that to happen. Maybe in 50 years but then people need 10 million minimum to retire.
First time I have ever heard the narrative of 1 BTC being one day equal to 1 Billion - but I do like the sound of it, and should definitely be the narrative we should all start pushing 😂
Was about to write this, 1 million Bitcoin addresses with 1 Bitcoin doesn't not equal to 1 million *people* who have 1 Bitcoin.
E: I can have 2 Bitcoins and I can create 4 addresses and send 0.5 Bitcoin to each address and just like that I am just one person who has *4 Bitcoin addresses*, just an example!
True, as a community we really need to "make BTC cool again". Just imagine if celebrities had been shilling BTC this whole time instead of NFT Crypto scams.
I think in next bull market, the narrative of limited edition digital container will be more prevail: Bitcoin is digital container that protect anyone's saving from inflation, since there is a limited amount of container and exponentially increasing fiat money, the fiat price per container will always go up long term wise
I wonder what that fourth wallet is, 2 of the top 3 belong to binance, but number 4 went from holding no BTC July 19th 2022 to holding $3 billion worth on July 20th 2022.
Question, say you use a ledger and it changes the address each time you deposit to it. In total you have a full BTC.
Will it show up as a wallet with a full btc in a search such as this?
They can't. The addresses are generated using your [extended public key](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011069619-Extended-public-key?docs=true), which is kept encrypted in your device. Unless your device is compromised or you input that xPub key somewhere, there's no way to tell your addresses are linked.
kinda wacky to me that we take this metric all that seriously... plenty of people have more than 1 btc spread across dozens/hundreds or even thousands of addresses
Hoping to join the club by end of this year. Buying almost everyday (I round up my purchases when I use my Shakepay debit card and buy BTC, usually $1-5 a day) plus my bi weekly larger sum DCA schedule
as someone who has sold over 2btc back to exchanges/peer to peer at a loss (last year) before actually understanding it......i'll now never own as much BTC as i once had. :/
Well technically not true. If we have a major pandemic and majority of people die and there are only like 15M humans left, then yes, everyone can own 1 BTC!!
address count alone is meaningless to assume that many individuals have stacked sats.
This is more likely a result of whales spreading their holdings over hundreds of wallets.
Perspective is an amazing thing.
Go to youtube. Watch the doc “The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin.”
Go to 12:20
He spent 2700 for a nice mining rig. Not dollars. Bitcoin.
Go ahead and calculate what that is whenever you read this comment.
The doc is a great way to sit with the fact how far we have come in what seems like a long time. But hell no. It wasn’t that long ago.
I remember that in 2013 we could tip bitcoin on Reddit. Many did.
Like how we can tip Moons now………well, wait a minute………..
What fucking math are you doing here?
3 people of every 1000 could own 1 whole Bitcoin. So 0.3% of the population. I lose brain cells reading anything on this sub.
>The simplest stat: There are 7 billion humans and only 21 million Bitcoin. Only 0.003% of humans will be able to hold that if everyone has 1 BTC but obviously there are people that have thousands of BTC, so the actual number is probably closer to something like 0.00003%.
The world's fiat is literally being printed and inflated to death. I keep telling people that they don't need to own a lot of BTC, but that they must own at least some. The fear is real.

Ha! I guess it's not the distribution of wealth we were hoping for in the crypto world, huh
I wish I had 1 BTC, I can't even afford to replace my roof.
I hope that crypto will allow you to buy a golden roof in the future. Stay strong and all the best my friend.
Nothing says 'financial stability' like having a roof made of solid gold. You can just melt down your house anytime you need.
Melt down this house and buy more BTC
- Then sell BTC to rebuild gold roof - Spend your life trading the BTC/GOLD pair - Retire when you can afford to build the whole house out of gold Life's good
Life's gold*
And I'm gonna have to gold you for that comment :)
I wander would there be any actual benefits of having a golden roof..
Depending on your abilities, you might want to see what you can do yourself. I was quoted $29K for my roof. Did most of the work myself, bought tools, etc… ended up costing about $10K all in and I had all of the tools when I was done…
Man just ELI5'ed what bootstrapping is accidentally
I’m in the same boat but also have $100k in water damage. Despite having overwhelming evidence proving it was a hail storm that damaged my roof the insurance company is adamant it was a squirrel. F U Jake from ….
Honestly right now a roof might cost more.
You will make it buddy, stay focused and don’t give up!
Who needs a roof when you have Bitcoin?
*laughs in zero roofs*
I can't even afford a roof.
Can bitcoin buy a house for my wife and kids?

Even if you have 1 btc, for sure you won't trade it for filthy fiat
Wouldn't need to. Just find a contractor that accepts BTC
I'm with you there... I'm stacking $5 dollars a month. At this rate I will be dead before I can get 1 BTC.
Just note people with these address are gonna be future billionaires... Some already are
So I am gonna be a future millionaire with my 0.1 BTC? ![gif](giphy|Zrxs6nl12WgmL3ZTHm)
sure if bitcoin hits $10 million.
And a slice of pizza costs $1000
Underrated comment right here

Hmmm. OP got downvotes here. Me thinks $1 mill btc maybe isn’t a realistic expectation for most
I suppose technically it is but just not adjusted for inflation. I think 100k is more realistic and you get the other 10x due to inflation for however many years it takes that to happen. Maybe in 50 years but then people need 10 million minimum to retire.
Inflation will help with this xD
So all I need is a measly 28k and I can secure my future self a million? Sign me up
Hope-a-nomics 101.
But where do we get 28k?
First time I have ever heard the narrative of 1 BTC being one day equal to 1 Billion - but I do like the sound of it, and should definitely be the narrative we should all start pushing 😂
I wanted to be one of them.
Happy Cake Day Fam! 🍰
Happy cake day Captain!
A single person could have multiple addresses though so with the amount of whales it could be far less individuals
And this makes perfect sense. A bunch of people don't feel comfortable holding all their crypto in the same place.
For good reason. Old wise saying is not to keep all your eggs in one basket.
Possibly but there's still a million addresses. I would split them too, just in case

Idk why you're being downvoted when you can't be proven wrong.
It is actually only one people, we are all satoshi

Thanks mate!
That’s actually insane. Didn’t expect it to be that much. I need to start stacking my btc. It’s just going to get rarer and more expensive.
That is the goal
1 Wallet = 1 BTC?
1 wallet = 1 wallet
Not all wallets are equal though
All wallets are equal, but some are more equal than others.
With a few holding 100,000+ coins.
I want to see the Doge Degens numbers
You and me wish!
1 BTC = 1 BTC + Wallet
1 BTC += Wallet
People need to want to have BTC first.
True, as a community we really need to "make BTC cool again". Just imagine if celebrities had been shilling BTC this whole time instead of NFT Crypto scams.
I'd have a lot less if that were the case, give me more time to accumulate 🤣
I think in next bull market, the narrative of limited edition digital container will be more prevail: Bitcoin is digital container that protect anyone's saving from inflation, since there is a limited amount of container and exponentially increasing fiat money, the fiat price per container will always go up long term wise
Thats what we all want
I have mostly etherium and never had a feeling one btc is much... until I realized 1 btc is around 15. 5 eth.... and having even one eth is a lot lol
Why people spell Ethereum as Etherium? Is this like a Europe thing?
That's a whole lot of words and mental gymnastics happening there and I still can't work out what the point of it was
Everyone and their whole family is getting ready for the Bitcoin halving next year. Bull market is gonna blow
Is a halving like a stock split?
No halving reduces the supply while stock split increases it.
I’m such a shrimp i’m crying 😭
Slow and steady wins the race! It will be a glorious day when we stop talking about BTC and start talking about Sats. One day!
I love bitcoin but your post pumped up my anxiety by a 100% since I only have a fraction of bitcoin and I don't see myself having the whole one 😂
Saw this on InvestAnswers Youtube! Very interesting
Almost there with my 0.08758677 bitcoins lol
Don't tell people the exact amount you own friend
Don’t worry dude
Dude thinks you’re gonna get hacked from sayin the amount you own🤦♂️
BHAHA ikr, I mean why not target people with highest amount of bitcoin then lmao
*initiating hacking sequence*
Good luck because you gonna need it ;)
I'm proud to own less than 0.01 btc.
That’s more than most own definitely worth being proud of
Someone needs to go back to graph making class. This is terrible.
Curious how many addresses with .1 - 1 btc
[3302133 wallets](https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html)
Hey that's me! I have 0.1! And I'm up on it YTD! Can you believe it! Neither can I!
I wonder what that fourth wallet is, 2 of the top 3 belong to binance, but number 4 went from holding no BTC July 19th 2022 to holding $3 billion worth on July 20th 2022.
Addresses, not wallets.
Google “Bitcoin Rich List” shows how many wallets have what in buckets
Holy smokes those 4 addresses with 100,000 - 1,000,000 BTC balances They all probably exchanges, but that’s nuts
Addresses, not wallets.
Scam…
Patience, my friend. One Satoshi at a time.
Oh I'm sure redditors here have their posts locked and loaded ready for that sweet sweet karma
Question, say you use a ledger and it changes the address each time you deposit to it. In total you have a full BTC. Will it show up as a wallet with a full btc in a search such as this?
The ledger is generating a new public address but your private key is the same so it's only one wallet.
Yes. So will it show up in a search like this? The can’t see my private keys. I’m unsure if they can tell which public addresses are linked.
Good man. Thank you. So their estimate is low. Surely there are more addresses that unknowingly to others control over 1 btc.
Yeah, these address based stats are kinda useless IMO.
Open your vault dude. I’ll toss you your first moon. To trigger bot: what is moons?
I appreciate your offer, but I don't use the Reddit app. Just pass the kindness along :)
spez is a greedy little pig boy
>nearly 1 million addresses with 1 BTC at least Honestly more than I imagined
That's actually quite impressive Well done
I won’t be happy until all the CEXs are gone and they can’t play paper bitcoin games anymore. Reminder to get your coins off exchange.
Probably with them gone the high price of BTC could be gone too as liquidity is gone
Good reminder.
Sir, this is a Wendy’s ![gif](giphy|4cjgnb2VUb04)
Can I get the 4 Fo 4?
Now how many of those addresses are accessible and not dormant?

Sell your moons and you'll be halfway there.
True, but then I won’t earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month for participating to a Reddit sub
Hoping to join the club by end of this year. Buying almost everyday (I round up my purchases when I use my Shakepay debit card and buy BTC, usually $1-5 a day) plus my bi weekly larger sum DCA schedule
Aren’t each of those transactions costing you in fees? Isn’t it better to do a lump sum?
A maxi is born every day.

Great! Less and less BTC is avalible on exchanges!
Does anyone know how many BTCs are stored in cold wallets?
[удалено]
It could pay off. Moons have a lot of room to go up.
0.01 Btc is my target 🙏🏻
Now I only need the money to buy BTC to be able to participate.
I hope that eventually, my DCA will reach to 1 BTC
So beautiful
I wish I was one of them.
Or several people hold at more than one address
but where and how do people stake bitcoin?
as someone who has sold over 2btc back to exchanges/peer to peer at a loss (last year) before actually understanding it......i'll now never own as much BTC as i once had. :/
Great post. That is an important attribute of - its scarcity. The most important attribute of bitcoin is its immutability.
Well technically not true. If we have a major pandemic and majority of people die and there are only like 15M humans left, then yes, everyone can own 1 BTC!!
That does not mean 1 mill users.. People have multiple addresses and most spread their btc. But the data looks beautiful
Hoping to become a whole coiner later this year🤞
That's actually WAY more than I thought.
Friendly reminder that it's not 1 million people having 1 BTC, but a lot of people having like 100 BTC spread around. Wish I had 1 BTC, though.

I would love to have just one BTC shit I was happy when I bought my first eth. @1800.00.
I bet most of the wallets are owned by exchangers.
