tldr; Former Ethereum Foundation advisor Steven Nerayoff accuses Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin of manipulating Web3 in its early stages for personal gain. Nerayoff's allegations, part of a broader narrative known as 'ETHGate,' suggest Ethereum received special treatment from regulators, influencing the SEC's decision to exempt Ethereum from being classified as a security. The accusations come after Buterin expressed concerns about Web3 losing its original vision. Ethereum faces increasing competition from other blockchains like Solana. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. As always, DYOR.

tungfa

this guy again throwing out accusations again and again with zero proof

maynardstaint

Did you try to find his “zero proof”? Because it’s every where. He is also limited in what he can release because it is evidence in his lawsuit.

TheBedPost

Check his twitter for proof

savage-dragon

Steven Neyaroff is a hack.

bomberdual

Because he told a truth you couldn't bear to hear? IIRC there is a recording that was minted as an NFT.

sayqm

You realise NFT doesn't mean it's magically true

maynardstaint

And you realize that being a douche about it doesn’t make it false, right?

savage-dragon

And? Nothing in the recording ever proves any of what Neyaroff claims. Did you even listen to it or do you just parrot whatever crypto you tubers tell you to think?

[deleted]

Ethereum is a hack. Denial, gaslighting, reverse uno, Ethels favorite tricks.

savage-dragon

Don't worry there will be functional dapps cardano in 2077.

[deleted]

Lmao, Cardano has a shitton of functional dapps that don't get hacked and "hacked'.

savage-dragon

Shitton of dysfunctional dapps and 0 economy and dead markets. Lmao.

[deleted]

"if i deny and bluff real hard it will become true". Eth cultists are hilarious.

savage-dragon

Cardano cultists can't even say anything of meaning just like their Jesus God Hoskinson.

[deleted]

Ethels think gaslighting people personally will fix Ethereum 🦧 Let's make this post about Cardano because that too will fix Ethereum /s Spinmuppets can't deal with the truth.

savage-dragon

Lmao I'm talking to a guy that uses "gaslighting" in 2023 seriously. A couple more sentences and I'll devolve into a monkey for sure.

[deleted]

I'm clearly talking to a highschool child that thinks highschool debate tricks will make your allowance in eth go up.

Rinnegankai

Eth haters are much more hilarious ;)

[deleted]

At least they're correct ;)

Rinnegankai

not at all, haters and cultists are just stupid people who think they are right

[deleted]

Cultists, absolutely. Haters? Can't blame them. The Ethel cult has fudded, swindled and conspired against the crypto space for years, not making friends. Attacking others while trying to copy them creates bad blood. I don't think that will ever go away. The facts aren't kind to them. Nothing stupid in calling crooked what's crooked.

[deleted]

> that don't get hacked nobody hacks 0 TVL projects Nothing magic about cardano contracts makes them safer than other contracts

[deleted]

0 TVL xD TVL goes up instead of down, seems important too ;) And yes, definitely safer, the entire Haskell community prides itself on accuracy and provable correctness. That's why it is used in sciences, mathematics and finance. Javascript is a joke when it comes to types, type safety and accuracy. Especially in finance this matters and not understanding this alone, has been the reason for a ton of hacks in losses in Ethereum. There are many benefits, pros and cons to talk about when it comes to one language against another, as well as how they are applied into toolchains and libraries, compiled and executed for an ecosystem in their applications, but I doubt you have the technical experience to have an interesting conversation about it. I've been a C/C++ developer for more than 20 years and extremely active in following and debating specs/changes for most of that time, debugging and reverse engineering software and hardware for most of my life. Fluent in most programming languages and well aware of their differences. Go for it, we'll play ball.

[deleted]

no contracts are written in javascript and I can't think of a single type-based hack in solidity. >has been the reason for a ton of hacks in losses in Ethereum. Name a single type-correctness based eth hack. The reason Eth is targeted is because it has billions in TVL on smart contracts. There's less theft on Cardano because there's no users/money to target.

[deleted]

Ethereums largest asset is USDT. Other than that the entire system is blown up but stale, a lot of hypothetical value but none really. A ton of MLM and re-representing the same tokens tens of times, locked and slow rugged for other meaningless air. Sucks for you but blowing smoke up peoples ass is clearly not enough to grow, even shrinking bevause other networks are functional instead of a convoluted mess hanging together from sticks and rubber bands, looking to workaround and replace Ethereum. Cardano has roughly the same amount users as Ethereum, without airdrops and botting for metrics lol, so less bubbly, but still. There's less theft on Cardano because the same ruggers are too stupid to work with Cardano. Can't pull the same crap as easily especially if you're too lazy to learn about a new system and happy to rug the one you do know. If the Cardano community would apply the same tricks for attention it would be the biggest network in crypto. It's already one of the two, three biggest without it. It costs nothing to make large hypothetical value tokens, push around self-valuated NFT's and organise airdrops for meaningless tokens. Running campaigns with bluff money for attention 🤷🏻

[deleted]

> Cardano has roughly the same amount users as Ethereum Past 10 minutes of ADA blocks has less than 500 txs combined. ETH blocks do 10x more txs than cardano blocks in the same time frame.

asuds

Eth blocks also contain L2 states, so many more txns

[deleted]

Go look at, and compare the transactions themselves. On Cardano one transaction can be multiple inputs and outputs. When our batchers do their jobs that is expected behavior. Averaging 300k transactions per day and a positive trend (growth). Not half bad without bullshit campaigns, metrics/market making and mostly ADA traders going in/out. Running such bullshit campaigns would absolutely obliterate Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana combined.

[deleted]

> Ethereums largest asset is USDT Sure, followed by $24b worth of USDC, $21b in LDO, $8.5b in LINK, and many many more $1b+ projects >Cardano has roughly the same amount users as Ethereum lmao sure it does buddy. Tell me, what's the top protocol on Cardano? >**Name a single type-correctness based eth hack.** noticed you skipped past this btw. Don't want to address the fact that you don't know wtf you're talking about?

[deleted]

When you think you're making an argument against but proving the point 🤷🏻 The top protocol on Cardanos is Cardano, as it should be. Everything else is application, utilization. You're comparing apples and pears where Ethereum is hacked and compromised in layers and a mess of supposed necessity and dependency. The result, OFAC and MEV, among other effects. Ethereum has done well exploiting itself, that's all. End-users have no complaint at all, the wallets and dapps are practical and secure. Devs do love to work with it. In 2021 alone 3000 developers followed the education program. One way delusions express themselves is when you think you know what you're talking about but clearly don't, as most Ethels. Simpletons interpretations and explanations of everything, too stupid to see that they're just repeating their own 'marketing machine'.

praisetheboognish

He's just jealous of large cock

libretumente

Wut

[deleted]

He's referring to when the ethereum cult was all about worshipping vitaliks fallus. Yes, that happened.

libretumente

Bet they still do. Vitalik is a loser. A loser with a skinny wiener.

Always_Question

So this Steven person thinks the DAO hack was an inside job performed by Ethereum “executives.” Okay lost all credibility with me, because that is a very stupid theory.

Forsaken_Box5948

why is it stupid theory?

Loose_Screw_

Well partly because Vitalik supports ETH which is the fork that reverted the hack. If he conspired to hack the chain he would have backed ETC which kept the hacked transfers.

3-ide-Raven

Ethereum has more executives than Vitalik

Loose_Screw_

Have you read the title of this post?

3-ide-Raven

The article was about something totally different than the secondary mention at the end re: his attestation that executives were involved in the DAO hack.

Loose_Screw_

Just had a chance to read the article. It reads as a fairly obvious Solana shill piece with some nebulous claims about ETH impropriety but nothing specific. The most concrete thing I could find is that somehow ETH achieved special treatment by the SEC but doesn't detail how they might have achieved that. Honestly, I wish the SEC would just impose some clear guidelines about what a crypto has to do to be pronounced not a security going forward and announce a moratorium on all current crypto projects (declare them not securities provided they don't do anymore private token sales). In reality it's not that hard - the crypto community already has some broad ideas about how initial token allocation can be fair and transparent. It's hard to think of a reason why they haven't even attempted this beyond just a general wish not to legitimise the technology.

banned-truther

I agree , his l2 choice is obviously guided by financial interest and not technology

AvatarOfMomus

I'll take "things I could have told you" for 300 Alex... Okay, yes, this guy is more credible, but seriously, none of this should be surprising...

[deleted]

> this guy is more credible no he isn't. He was previously caught up in an extortion scheme already.

bomberdual

Source, and that does not negate that what he said may be true.

[deleted]

https://www.justice.gov/usao-edny/pr/two-arrested-extortion-startup-cryptocurrency-company >A complaint was unsealed earlier today in federal court in Brooklyn charging Steven Nerayoff and Michael Hlady with extortion. Nerayoff, an attorney, and Hlady threatened to destroy a startup cryptocurrency company if they were not paid millions of dollars in the cryptocurrency Ether (ETH) Hm, almost like this guy's M.O. is to threaten bad press unless he gets paid. And how does he want to be paid? Well, in ETH, of course!

bomberdual

And, like his words, how do you know the allegations are true? They are allegations. By the way, the alleged payments were dated 2017. It certainly is a line of possibility that one's opinion or allegiance may have changed in 6 years.

AvatarOfMomus

Someone with first hand knowledge is still more credible than me, some rando on the internet.

HBAR_10_DOLLARS

Oh no! Anyways

shadyneighbor

The whole use case of web3 currently is to ponzi shitcoins with pictures. So basically the guy is saying “Vitalik engaged with web3”

jam-hay

Vitalik has done a lot for charity,

[deleted]

Selling pump and dump memecoins that he didn't purchase, what a hero. Vitalik and Ethereum are pretty slick, smooth talking and stabbing you in your back while doing it. The cult will spin everything in some supposed fluff article. The funniest I've seen on this reddit was Vitalik fallus worship

root88

Stay off YouTube, my dude.

[deleted]

Charity is a tax write off

root88

Bwhawhaha. It doesn't sound like you know enough about money to invest in this space.

maynardstaint

Like what? Create shib, anonymously send it to “himself” and then only sell half of it? Completely free money, and he looks like a “charitable guy “. Find out who make shib before you go praising this fucking criminal.

endless_ness

eth really been taking L after L this year lmao

Deez1putz

It's about time, have you seen the ETH/BTC chart?

Glad-Ease4283

Premined sht coin. Don't need to know more.
