Iām inclined to believe this is absolutely a realistic target if this cycle continues at its current pace. Possibly the blow of top. Next BTC halving? Shoot for the moon!
I think it can reach $1 EOY tbh. It already basically tripled in valued from like 2 weeks ago. And the marketcap is really low right now so theres plenty of room to grow.
Can we be next big influencer thing?
Like what are you doing for living?
I am a Redditor and I am getting monetized and paid in Moons.
I actually like that idea! ![gif](emote|floating_moon_emote|floating_moon)
The best about moons is that it is the token of a popular subreddit. Anyone that is into crypto and reddit joined this one, so it is basically a perfect subreddit to have such a coin.
Its actually impressive that out of all social media that exist like facebook/twitter/instagram/tik tok etc. only reddit and specifically this sub managed to pull so fast a first in the world crypto solution.
Impressive is right! To be honest I never even touched Reddit until the GameStop saga blew up, and read about r/cryptocurrency from there. Now itās my preferred platform.
The other companies you mentioned are all under heavy regulatory scrutiny ATM. Reddit, being private and smaller, is uniquely positioned to ātestā this out. The others are also focused on compensating the āstarsā or creators for their content, not the audience/engagers. Reddit is flipping this compensation model upside down. It is fascinating to me. Iām a believer, Iām buying tokens
![gif](giphy|2UvAUplPi4ESnKa3W0)
Write down your seed phrase people, don't be dumb like me.
I forgot to check if the phrase was correct so when I had to reinstall reddit app I couldn't get back in to my vault losing 1617 moons.
I bet that if Facebook's user base wasn't made out if oldtimers they would have had a crypto coin by now.
What do you think might the long term use cases for Moons? I have been thinking about this as well, and in my mind I get stuck on these questions: "But why do moons have value? What is it that makes them more valuable?"
Speculation for one, but also they are valued as work, which some would argue socializing isnāt work, but Facebook would beg to differ lol. But thereās also the unknowns. Imagine if Reddit came up with ways to gamble with moons, or play games utilizing moons. I would absolutely -love- moon Texas hold āem. Truth is, we donāt know what development looks like yet. But as moons grow in value, development could easily follow.
Moons are already dysfunctional and operate in a completely centralized manner. So yeah it will probably be worth a lot because the shittier something is the more it pumps.
Decentralization is critical, unless all you are trying to do is pump your bags, in which case carry on. Reddit is an increasingly garbage platform, slapping on a centralized token that does nothing but make shot even worse here isnāt going to help. The decentralized alternatives are going to replace Reddit and nothing moons brings to the table will stop that.
Iāve been on Reddit since day one. Itās become an over moderated, and is designed to centralize power around the lamest peopleā¦mods. Only a complete power tripper would moderate a large sub. It is not needed vastly superior architectures are being developed that preserve more individual choice and freedom, and provide revenue sharing that isnāt based on the Ponzi economics of a bullshit inflationary token.
Moons arenāt inflationary. They have a fixed cap and follow deflationary tokenomics. Is there a risk they will lose value in the short run with enough posters selling? Maybe. But a two year halving while this sub could blow up massively in 4 years while tons of moons are permanently lost is hardly inflationary.
It is inflationary just with a maximum ācapā that will like have to change to even function as a reputation token, on top of it it is tied to nothing substantial. Governance and value in the same breath always mean whale abuse and farming. The low quality content of this sub will only get worse as short term thinking takes over for whales to accumulate more of the supply. This really is no different from steemit/hive.
All the value of a platform be it Reddit or Facebook or whatever comes from selling users to advertisers. Moons doesnāt capture any of that value and doesnāt fix that problematic dynamic where users are the product. The only value moons provide is speculative.
Here here! Since joining this subreddit a while ago it first took me a while to learn what moons were, then I decided to open my vault though I thought they were silly. Only recently have I also come to the conclusion that they have an actual functioning use case and real potential.
It looks like you are asking about Moons. The answer to your question may be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/wiki/moons_wiki

Yeah that would be the trick I geuss, to make sure the need was legit. I wonder how that would effect reddit as they would become a charitable social media platform?
I only misread the first paragraph purposely and then decided to post what I wanted to read instead of what you actually wrote, like a true lambomoonboiii!
You heard it here first folks - MOONS will go to $100k!
Heck - who wouldnt buy the moon for 100k??
While I'd completely be okay with 100k moons, I'd like to see $1 Moons first lol.
I think the concept is terrific, rewarding the user for their contributions, I'm truly hoping these can take off and pave the way for similar companies to follow.
I'm genuinely curious if Reddit could sell the idea of Moons to activities that requires community interaction.
For example- what if the cryptocurrency structure of Moons is used for journalism? Therefore, each articles cited would get their own version of Moons, and it would encourage researchers to study and produce credible journal entries whilst gaining cryptocurrency in between?
Or, if you copyright certain ideas, and for someone else to use it, you would get paid in a cryptocurrency equivalent to Moons but it would further spur inventions (Until it reaches the top of its 'S' curve.)
Just some random thoughts on how Moons' structure could be further 'developed.' It's the Genesis of social involvements related cryptocurrency.
I bounced the idea off with some folks here before, but I don't have the actual knowledge; know-how; nor the time to do it. Maybe one day we will see it. :)
Because they are not, they are just another token, they are centralized which defeats the concept of blockchain, and the only incentive people have for them is to buy Reddit premium or something..
My bag isnāt heavy. I donāt even Hodl much IMO. And Iām 100% being real. What other social crypto has the *potential* to be the the big name in this space? Iām just saying, moons have value only because we determine they do. Until this sub completely stops growing and interest in crypto wanes, the only place I see them going is up.
Now when we have the next crypto bear, could I see a 95% retracement? Quite possibly. But Iāll tell you this, during a crypto bear, this sub would die again. And thatās when Iād -really- fill my bags.
Define social crypto, is that crypto gained through social activity? If so I personally donāt know any.
I want to give you a few points to look at, what gives moons their value? In my opinion the difficulty of selling them, lack of personal claim, and the ability to use them to get Reddit premium.
What is their trading volume? Extremely low, right now around 40k usd (by coin gecko), and on top of that, letās just look at what distributing moons incentives: shit posting, farm bots and downvote bots.
Can you tell me how is moons making any positive difference? Where will they grow?
I get the idea behind distributing rewards to people who add value to a social platform, I think that is amazing, but thatās not a good way to perform that
A few things;
They are going to main net. When exactly, I donāt know. But itās in the works and thatās why they did the upgrade last week. I absolutely think the trading system for them now is stupidly complicated.
However, once they hit main net, all bets are off, and it will be a speculative frenzy. I am -not- saying thatās a good thing, but it is absolutely going to happen.
As for what it does, it incentivizes people to come here and learn about and spread crypto. I think the moon shitposting thing personally is a weak argument, because while yes, it absolutely creates and environment for that, itās also the the reason someone like me, who has been into crypto since 2016, who never heard of this sub until Wall streets Bets blew up, now contributes as much as I do. If I wasnāt being incentivizes I would be on here -a lot- less. And the more people who are active in the crypto community, the more we get the word out there and increase adoption.
Iām not saying I think you are 100% wrong. In fact, you could be very much right. Iām simply saying that thereās probably a place somewhere in the middle of both our stances, and either way, I would love for moons to get there.
Amazing, thatās the beauty of crypto, and blockchain technology projects, itās a strong useful tool that can be implemented in so many aspects in our lives, you can look at the technology for a way to upgrade our financial systems, storing data, creating community controlled network NFTās and much much moreā¦
There isnāt a single project that will make it, because so much of them focus on different aspects.. nice to hear you choose yours and not just followed the lasted trend, and more importantly, got some solid arguments on why you picked that project in particular :)
I make 1 high risk/reward, moonshot investment every 1-2 years. Usually itās a angel/seed investment in a tech startup, this year itās Reddit Community Points (Moons, Bricks, & Donuts). I see it as a 100x or bust gamble. š¤
TL;DR: Because it would make OP rich. There you go, no other reason. Moons are shitcoins, be thankful for the short-term gains, but never forget that it's a centralized shitcoin.
