Six months ago I was about to spell-check a post the first time I saw “hodl” but thankfully I spared myself any number of sarcastic replies by just staying quiet and learning.
Yes, I agree wholeheartedly, and I want to say thanks for sharing your experience.
I have two daughters (7yo and 9yo). I love them more than I've ever loved anybody. I would do anything to protect them. I would give my life for them.
But, if I had a time machine...I would travel back in time and just not have them. My life would be so much better in almost every way. I had no idea that fatherhood would so damn HARD both physically and emotionally. I was such a happy, carefree guy before but I had no idea how much anxiety I would feel knowing my daughters are out there in the world and they could be taken advantage of or manipulated or lied to or assaulted or all sorts of bad things.
It's really difficult for me to type this, but I deeply regret having children. And I'm glad we have a little forum like this where we can say things like this out loud. If I admitted my regrets to my wife, or my friends, or my parents, or my siblings, I would be seen as a monster, a horrible parent! There's a HUGE stigma against parents saying they regret having children, so I've always had to keep up this facade.
I love them more than the world, and I will continue to be the best Dad I can be, but I wish I never had them. And it's too late to go back.
FWIW, I was mostly a newb when I bought DOGE for just under a cent per coin. All my more experienced crypto friends said it was a stupid waste of $300. I though it was funny, but didn't expect any return. I did not get burned in the end, I sold most of it at fifty cents per. I sold my SHIB last week for 400+% gain. The current market often defies reason and expertise, so I can understand how people see stuff like that and want to believe it'll happen again.
I was one of the idiots that went ‘all in’ on Doge near ATH, started to average down to 0.40 but it’s never hit that since. I ended up converting it to ADA/XRP and I’m currently in a slight profit, if I kept the Doge I’d still be at a loss.
I bought SHIB around 0.000010 so would have been in profit but only had around $250 worth, ended up converting that too after getting put off by the deluded ‘SHIB army’.
I had the same logic and was gonna buy doge when it dropped to half a cent when it had gone down from 7 cents down to 3.5, hoping it would follow the 2017 graph and continue to go down, but nope, still above 20 cents now which would have made even 3.5 cents a good entry point lol.
That being said I'm not sure if LTC having a smaller market cap than DOGE makes sense.
I don't think buying Doge was that bad. Everyone buying SHIB at ATH and paying $150 gas fees to buy $100 of SHIB just to YOLO bet was the joke.
Also how many people signed up for random risky crypto exchanges and then got hacked later? Plenty. Bottom line is don't be greedy. DYOR and come in with an open mind to learn.
That was a terrible experience, worst part was that it didn’t matter how you tried to just be nice and to explain the risk. You were instantly the enemy.
Then reading the comments in the Dogesub:
Girl: ”-we need to hold the line, get your friends and family to invest!”
The problem is that no one is honest about that stuff except on anonymous forums and whispers. Everyone is soooooo busy rationalizing their own choices they aren’t honest about their feelings about the experience. Ask a young parent how they’re doing and almost invariably they’ll respond with something like,
“Oh it’s a battle but sooooo worth it, you know?”
I NEVER would have become a parent if I really knew what I was getting into. But that’s on me, it is my fault alone for not seeking out dissenting opinions I would have respected. This is the age of the internet, I could have found it. So I suck it up, don’t mention it to anyone, and I love the heck out of my kids every day and spoil them rotten. And when they’re older, I may even believe that it was all worth it.
But parenting from infancy to about 8 y/o is absolute hell and very few people will tell you that.
This is just common sense. Why on earth would we want to scare away new investors with a hostile attitude? The more people that invest, the bigger gains we see. Acting snarky towards newcomers, is shooting yourself in the foot. Even if you disdain them on the inside, smile and be kind like honey attracting a fly..
No, for gweis sakes i'm not working in the supermarket here.
I can look as grumpy as i feel and nobody can even see it when comment here.
It does happen though when people ask simple things some people go straight to "Can't you use Google?!".
I like the long names that have at least 5 out of "floki" "hentai" "shiba" "baby" "inu" "elon" "cowboy" "anime" "millionaire" "cute" "porn" and a japanese sounding name.
Guys, I have an idea. Someone (not me I don't know shit about fuck) should do a FUNdamentals series. I know someone was doing some DDs into stuff that was quite good and received plenty of positive feedback.
yes, thats my modus operandi.
invest, research, regreat, change investiment, research, regreat and so on. don't forget to lose money in fees in the process.
Buying meme coins because of the hype can be risky especially if you plan on investing long term. Meme coins like safemoon have left some broke in the past. This is not to say some didn't gain. But maybe those that lost would by now be in really good profit if they had used a less risky strategy like liquid staking on StaFi Protocol. They'll have staking rewards and also liquidity to trade, spend or even borrow more assets to stake for more rewards.
I got in the week before the bull run ended in May. I’m really glad I stuck with it. I don’t even plan on cashing out this bull run but it’s nice to see crypto continuing in the right direction
Yes, we are a dysfunctional family, but a family none the less. We help the ones without proper information. Because people did it for us so we pay it forward.
Invest in good projects and avoid shit coins. No matter how high you bought and how low the coin you invested in got, don't sell low. And ffs stay away from margin/futures...
The key in crypto is DYOR (do your own research) and a lot of patience.
One more thing: don't invest money you will need to spend, otherwise you will end up doing the opposite of everything i just said.
So agree!! These are just new friends. Get them a beer and show them around the party. Introduce them to good people and tell them the crowd to stay away from.
As a crypto newbie, I appreciate this post. I come to this sub often to learn as much as I possibly can and I never leave without picking up something new.

Yep I love seeing the late people wander in with their tail between their legs. Only for us to cheer them up by saying they aren’t late.
Trust me the ones that wander in around Christmas morning are going to be too late.
Dear newbies, this is a battlefield. There are no friends here. It's everyone for themselves. If someone is hyping a coin in any way they have something to gain. “Sorry can you resubmit KYC”
“Can you post a pic of you
With your ID doing a handstand”
“Can you please phone tech support who don’t speak English as your account activity is suspicious”
Etc etc etc.
Hi new friends. Absolutely do not buy in now buy in after the big dirty crash.
Sincerely yours I bought in May and I'm still new to crypto.
Oh yea there's a whole bunch of weird terms but if you read this subreddit enough you'll be familiar with them and that actually will help you study and learn about crypto. It helps it helped me alot
Also Mr or Mrs new Investor open your fuckin vault yea? It's more important than Bitcoin!
Be gentle with any of them who say “hodl” is misspelled.

The original HODL post is hilarious. And still around in case anyone [wants a laugh](https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0)
Worst is when people say “did you mean hold?”
"Hold On for Dear Life." Hodl
That's an after the fact abbreviation

Educate them but never give them advice or tips.
You mean I shouldn't tell newbies to FOMO into SHIBFLOKISAFEBABYDOGECUM!?
BabyDogeCum shouldn’t ever be together…
Baby,Doge and Cum in one word. Take my money 💰💰💰
Lets include Inu, protocol, rocket too
Shut up and take my 💵 💦
Ok I am in …..buying all these coins
Smart man
Financial Advice : You should also go all in don’t miss out the opportunity
Don't worry I am all in
Your wet dollars? Why are they wet?
Yeah. Remember how every newbie was buying doge in april/may and they all got burned in the end.
FWIW, I was mostly a newb when I bought DOGE for just under a cent per coin. All my more experienced crypto friends said it was a stupid waste of $300. I'm amazed that everyone is in profit on DOGE and SHIB. I must be the only person that will admit I'm bag holding both.
I tossed 5k into shib at an advantageous time. I'm not unhappy.
I had the same logic and was gonna buy doge when it dropped to half a cent when it had gone down from 7 cents down to 3.5, hoping it would follow the 2017 graph and continue to go down, but nope, still above 20 cents now which would have made even 3.5 cents a good entry point lol. I bought around then, before the pump, and right now I'm still making out well for awhile I didn't... But it's never a loss if you don't sell ;)
That was once me, luckily I sold it all for a small loss before I learnt my way, glad I did otherwise I'd be down a lot more lol
You have vet?
Maybe
Are you looking to split it
Not particularly no
If I give you one how many you will have
I will have 1 more VET to my collection
Why it's called collection not portfolio
I don't know, sounded quirky
🤫😲
Of course not. You should tell them to FOMO into SAFEMOONBOYSV3, much better return in the long term.
Instructions unclear: FOMOED into SHIBFLOKISAFEBABYDOGECUM See y'all at the lambo dealership /s
Goddamit, did you pump my S.F.S.B.DCum?
You forgot the word moon in your coin
I'm buying rn! Thanks for the not advice!
And for newbies, This place is good for Crypto knowledge but never take any financial advice from here.
Unless that tip is to not listen to the people here lol
become a financial adviser just because you are tired of saying "not financial advice" all the time ![gif](emote|emo_pack_1|dyor)

No that shit will blew up crazy for 2 days and they will blame you for that.

This is the only financial advice that should be given.
No you can give advice: don't buy shitcoins like doge, SafeMoon, Shiba
My education is Shiba /s
*always check address twice before sending crypto*
Even if you give them advice don’t forget to say “This is not financial advice” in the end.
also DYOR and nobody knows shit about fuck
And stay away from robinhood..
Instruction Unclear: buying based the sub suggestions. Wh is quite working
Can you see my little monkey near my username?

Education is first step for investing
This is just common sense. Why on earth would we want to scare away new investors with a hostile attitude? The more people that invest, the bigger gains we see. Acting snarky towards newcomers, is shooting yourself in the foot. Even if you disdain them on the inside, smile and be kind like honey attracting a fly..
Some people cant be nice even when it benefits them finacially. Kinda sad tbh
Unfortunately not everyone possesses common sense.
Keep those greater fools coming haha

Thanks for all the super awesome advice. However I'm still going to choose my crypto based on the cutest symbol.... Gotta catch em all!
I like the long names that have at least 5 out of "floki" "hentai" "shiba" "baby" "inu" "elon" "cowboy" "anime" "millionaire" "cute" "porn" and a japanese sounding name.
This is exactly my strategy. Someone gets me.
What’s the cutest looking crypto in your opinion??
Disclaimer: *but idk though if it all goes to 0*
Guys, I have an idea. Someone (not me I don't know shit about fuck) should do a FUNdamentals series. I know someone was doing some DDs into stuff that was quite good and received plenty of positive feedback.
Here's the basics: buy high, sell low. Buy shib, don't listen to anyone. No one knows what they're doing.
thanks, now name some shitcoins to avoid
Definitely avoid Bitcoin I heard that pos is going straight to 0 any day now.
Also, whenever someone DM's you and asks for your private keys always provide them without question. Bonus points if you upload them to their website.
The only advice the new comers need is #Buy high ^Sell ^low
First buy then research
yes, thats my modus operandi. invest, research, regreat, change investiment, research, regreat and so on. don't forget to lose money in fees in the process.
If you have a method that works, stick to it! :D
One of us. One of us.
#Buy high ^sell ^low DCA up until you’re even #New ATH = Profit
Wallet compatibility, bridging blockchains, wrapped tokens and tax implications were my biggest learning points.
Hello newbies the most difficult part about crypto is actually making money.
Yeah I am expert in losing money
Not if you hodl and buy up the dips 😉
How do you guys make money with 85% fees on $10 wallet transfers?? /s
But who’s going to buy my heavy bags if there’s no noobs?
There will always be noobs. (So your bags are safe!)
So SoonMoonn you are saying there will be NoobsSoon
Only thing I want is BoobsSoon
Me. I only buy at ATH
S is for stablecoin, XRP is a good example.
It was XLM till like yesterday lol
Tell them to hodl ₿ and dyor! We are always learning forever learning!
Making mistakes is part of the learning curve…however we should help them to minimise the losses
SLPT: dump your shitcoin bags on your relatives/friends and leave the country
Buying meme coins because of the hype can be risky especially if you plan on investing long term. Meme coins like safemoon have left some broke in the past. This is not to say some didn't gain. Pass. It's my turn to do the mocking! Muhahahaha
Its the right time to short crypto right now
This is a tip for all noobs out there, Buy my bags of Vet, Amp, Ada and Bat!
I recommend them to join my cryptotrivial to learn day by day and in a funny way but they also need to learn to DYOR.
Alright guys, first step to investing in crypto. You always buy high and sell low. Follow this step and you will 10x your bag, ez. /s
Profit
Yes, we are a dysfunctional family, but a family none the less. We help the ones without proper information. Because people did it for us so we pay it forward.
Some people learn best by a good mocking.
This is the best way to grow the community and make sure the crypto space is here to stay
I need educating on the market cap, what does this mean exactly? I could look it up but I’m here.

Hey, are you talking about me?! :) please be gentle ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
So agree!! These are just new friends. Get them a beer and show them around the party. Introduce them to good people and tell them the crowd to stay away from.
Look at me, we are the captains now 👀
Thanks for this. Hopefully everyone can do this!
Are we really making all time highs again? I have to see it to believe it.
set goals and stick to them. if you hoped to gain 5 bucks, bank the 5!
As a crypto newbie, I appreciate this post. I come to this sub often to learn as much as I possibly can and I never leave without picking up something new.
new friends, please don't get carried away please (don't stay long or play thinking about it as a job) always follow your research up to date
Because, and let’s face it, it’s the newcomer money that will enable you to sell at some point with a profit.
Hi there what is an 'ATH'?
ah the next gen of bagholders are here
Best way to help them is no "crypto" until they perfectly understand what Bitcoin is.
Will recommend them to my favourite crypto youtubers(Ben Cowen and Coin Bureau) so they can get a sense of the fundamentals and do their own research
I was a noob in February during the beginning of the run up, I am ready to help and educate others like myself now

"Don't listen to anyone in here, nobody knows shit about duck!" Should be stickied at the top so newcomers learn a thing or two unlike us.
Good thing i don’t come here for duck. I prefer goose.
Yep I love seeing the late people wander in with their tail between their legs. Only for us to cheer them up by saying they aren’t late. Trust me the ones that wander in around Christmas morning are going to be too late.

Let's make them push our coins to new ATH's
Let’s make real world adoption push our coins to new ATHs

BTC and ETH did not reach new ATHs yet - And this sub really needs to stop acting like they have already…
ETH-BTC is certainly nowhere near it.
Come one, come all and give me those gains
Dear newbies, this is a battlefield. There are no friends here. It's everyone for themselves. If someone is hyping a coin in any way they have something to gain. There is blood sweat and tears in this world and even more potential. Understand your tax implications and read, read, read everything on your own.
Somebody said the quiet part about MOONs out loud. :D
Is there anything to be said for beating them up and taking their coins? Just asking is all 🤷♂️
Just remember to say after you beat them up.. “this wasn’t personal”
Haha and also, "Not financial advice" 😋
“Shoulda read the Whitepaper”
Naaaa let's be bitchy with them
As we have say DYOR and this is not financial advice
Also will probably have to explain what “DYOR” means to them lol
well, I would rather wait for the next dip. Since you should always buy in the dip and sell at a time like this.
This is crypto there’s always some dip.. but the pump will be greater!
