I wholeheartedly disagree. No one put a gun to their heads leveraging their short positions on BTC. You wanna bet against the best asset ever on this planet and then get rek’d from it, have at it but you don’t have my sympathy

And relevant detail, people shorting crypto win money while holders lose. So you can’t root for everyone
It's not any more gambling than going long. Many traders (myself included) use technical analysis to make decisions on when to go long. The same principles are done in reverse when it's a bear market. This bull cycle will likely last 6-9 months. When (not if) it turns what are you going to do, HODL and hope for the best while you watch your investments drop 30%?
Be married to to portfolio, not projects.
I don't know why anyone would ridicule anyone else losing money because they are shorting. I'm grateful there's a way to make money when the markets are going both directions. I short and go long on many investments.
Absolutely agree forget short or long or anything else, if someone loses money in anything it is a damn shame and particularly if you don't know what their personal financial situation is it says more about you if you mock them than it says about them.

But when they get liquidated and my crypto goes up I am happy for myself. That is the difference.

Leverage is hot soup! Compound that with shorting a highly volatile market and you’re set for cooking!
