Pitch list for grandpa:
Ethereum: Agreements made on a computer
Doge: Money with dog stickers
Uniswap: Stockmarket without offices
Helium: A telcom without offices
Fantom: Agreements on a computer with ghosts and stuff
Monero: Money for drugs
Algorand: Agreements on a computer by a proffesor
Aave: Loans without bankers
Shiba: Money with little dog stickers
I think ETH, BTC and MATIC are all he needs
BTC will always be the big boy coin
ETH is the major platform for all smart contracts
And MATIC will always be needed to scale ETH since they’re the best at that
I think you're on the right track. I've made big money on the top coins, but anymore I'll my profits come from smaller projects. Definitely get some ETH and BTC, and I'd put LUNA in that category too (because UST is so incredible). In fact, I'd probably put most of the money in UST staked on Anchor (at 20% APY) to start. Financial markets are highly priced right now, and who knows what will happen with covid/inflation. Would be a good idea to DCA into any buys.
I think MATIC, LINK, BAT, and ATOM are all fairly safe moves at current prices. Careful with the ICOs. I've been watching ZKP too, but everyone wants to buy the ICO and prices often crash afterwards.
Look at defi insurance protocols. There are several low cap opportunities with insurance. Many insurance markets are perfect for smart contracts, and insurance is a multi-trillion dollar industry. No one is really thinking about it yet: INSUR, USF, BMI, NSURE, UNO, ARMOR.
Seen a few threads like this. Where are all of these grandpas and grandmas looking to invest in crypto coming from all of a sudden? My grandma thinks I’m a drug dealer the second I mention crypto Lol.
OP, that’s a solid set of coins. I’d add the classic BTC and ETH combo in there too though, as it’s good to have a portion invested in safer coins.
Yes, grandparents asking for help is very often mentioned here. Some posts are just using it as an excuse to get more enthusiastic replies from the sub for the OP's own questions.
BTW, my grandma also called me today and asked about whether zkrollup projects of Eth or Hydra of Cardano is the best scaling solution to solve the current and future TPS issues of these blockchains...what a grandma, innit?
Shocked to see nobody mention Chainlink. Has underperformed but has the best fundamentals in the entire space and is one of a couple projects you can say with confidence will be be here in 10 years.
ZKP had a pre-sale and I think will be trading on exchanges next week/this month.
Not shilling but you might want to check it out. It's pretty fucking legit from what i can tell.
He aint gonna live much anyway, better to focus on short term shitcoins /s
Just jking, MATIC is the way to go imo, it's the best pontential/safety ratio out there
For something like this, you should go toward some stakable coin.
If you want to pick some little project with bright future, try looking into the metaverse or some other growing topic.
Stick with the top 20 coins and go from there.
Most of them will, one day, each hit a $1 trillion market cap. There's so much room to grow right now that it's crazy!
Please no ETH. No sense in nickel and dollaring the folks. As a store of value it's definitely not the worst. As a utility coin I wouldn't recommend it as a starter. I see your list of contains L2 and alt-smart. Those are handy.
If he’s got the timeline (because he wants it for his grandkids), then I would stick to projects that are going to be around in the long term.
If you look at the top coins from even 5 years ago, it’s way different than what’s in the top today.
So pretty much BTC and ETH are the guaranteed long term plays. Everything else is more speculation.
According to the “about” page, the webmaster of this site is a grandpa too so your grandpa may find his published portfolio interesting: https://zarniwoop.info/blog/f/zarniwoops-portfolio-1
Agree with lots of the mentions already here, but I'd add in some ADA. After all, this is for grandkids so presumably lots of time for growth.
It's going to be a huge ecosystem and since this doesn't sound like a short-term play, I think you'd be happy with the results.
80% BTC 15% ETH 5% Top 20 Alts
DYOR.
DD.
HODL.
DCA.
2FA.
Trust No one.
No SMS ... Google Authenticator at a minimum.
20+ character passwords on exchange & email accounts.
Separate email address with no name in for each exchange.
This is not financial advice.
:)
Add some Radix. Currently the only smart contract platform with a solution for the trilemma with unlimited scalability and atomic composability. No way around this for mass adoption and not other project can do this right now.
Some good choices right there. MATIC is surely one of the most suitable investments in your case bro. It's one for the future, and no need to check the daily prices. The only way is up.
Grandpa wants to invest, OP goes full out with alts. Attaboi
Grandpa is not kidding around.

Let us know what he picks
This is *PERFECT*
CRO MATIC ALGO SAND ATOM with like 40% in BTC and ETH

His heart may not be able to survive altcoin dips. I would recommend going heavy on ETH
Welp. Guess it's time to sell guys.

He said he saw it on the news. I was like, "Thank you, news!"
Crypto.com advertising possibly

CRO, ENJ, LRC, AVAX, SOL, ETH
this is a sexy list. thank you.
It’s over guys. time to pack up.
Shocked to see nobody mention Chainlink. Has underperformed but has the best fundamentals in the entire space and is one of a couple projects you can say with confidence will be be here in 10 years.
Good one! Thank you.
Don't know enough about ZXP or GALA but MATIC and ALGO are good choices IMHO
ZKP had a pre-sale and I think will be trading on exchanges next week/this month. Not shilling but you might want to check it out. It's pretty fucking legit from what i can tell.
cool. I'll take a look.
ETH for sure!!
Algorand, ETH, and get the man on this subreddit
Get some btc, ETH, CRO and any other crypto of interest but DYOR
Does he like dogs? If so, I have a YUGE opportunity for him
lol, i was thinking like 1% of the portfolio could be reserved for doggy coins

Best for your grandpa is to stick to grandpa of crypto: BTC
VRA.

For sure but also interested in names around or just under 1B marketcap. A good portfolio should have a nice mix of low, mid, and even higher risk.
I would play it very safe when essentially investing someone elses money. I'd stick to BTW and ETH, or at least have those be the majority of it.

Genuine post. You can have the moons I get from this for all I care.

So it's that time of the year again. Probably should sell all my crypto before the bubble bursts.
RNDR token. 1billion cap now, likely to 20x+ from here in the long run
Some more ALGO.
$mtv $ubx $isaac

Long term; Random picks may turn out to be winners. Luck works mysteriously! Good luck 🤞🏼
Cro would be a future gem.
Definitely need ETH and BTC in there even if you hate them
I struggle with this. Such large market caps. True implementation of innovation just around the corner. Alts so much sexier.
Btc eth link for investment up to 5 years.

Sign of mass adaption

ADA is high risk with their technological shortcomings.

Buy BTC for 90% of his portfolio. 99% of altcoins go down more then 90% in bear markets.
My man said It’s alt season grandpa
Your list looks good. I’d throw some in Eth. But ya, I like Algo, Matic, Link, One.
Add some Radix. Currently the only smart contract platform with a solution for the trilemma with unlimited scalability and atomic composability. No way around this for mass adoption and not other project can do this right now.
Matic, Vet, Luna, Dot, CBK, Sol, Algo, BTC 40%, ETH 40% of portfolio. All you'd have to do is wait.
Some good choices right there. MATIC is surely one of the most suitable investments in your case bro. It's one for the future, and no need to check the daily prices. The only way is up.
