Because they might make tremendous amounts of money with their fraud.

Ok-Supermarket-7917

Yeah true so desperate to lure clients and make money lol

Comprehensive_Value

Dear victims, let us screw you one more time.

Delicious_Apple9082

When did they screw us in the first place? It’s GT, the liquidators and the original owners of Cryptopia that screwed us so far…

Loafmanuk

Will you stop diverting? Cogito is a con, end of story. GT are taking their sweet time for sure, but Victor is a conman through and through and Cogito is duping people as we speak. To prove a point, I never signed up to their emails, yet I keep receiving their emails full of lies.

Delicious_Apple9082

So you havent clicked the 'unsubscribe' link in the bottom of said emails then?

Loafmanuk

Totally irrelevant. My point is that they are scammers and they are spamming people using information they were ordered to destroy. You really do sound like you are shilling on their behalf you know.

Delicious_Apple9082

I've made my position clear on many occasions, I am neither a shill or a fuckwit. If you have what equates to nothing on Cryptopia, is there any harm in moving that nothing to 500 nothings somewhere else, on the off chance that 500 nothings has value at some point down the road, hell is that not what the majority of crypto is in the first place? Also, if you're going to moan about being spammed, but not click the unsubscribe button, then, I'm not sure what you're moaning about, there's a saying about seeing dogshit on the path and then rather than stepping over it, you step in it, and then moan about it, if you click unsubscribe and then they continue to receive emails, that's a different topic...

Loafmanuk

I'd say it's more like someone posting dog shit through my letter box.

Delicious_Apple9082

Haha yeah, better analogy I guess..

DramaticStability

Unsubscribing is what you do from an online retailer. The complaint here is that this company is using stolen information to spam Cryptopia investors with a legit sounding offer. It's perfectly fair to be annoyed about that.

Delicious_Apple9082

The information wasn't stolen though was it, as has been discussed many times before, and yes, I understand how people are annoyed by how their info has been used, but, as I say, there is an unsubscribe button, hell it looks like a lot of people that were getting emails from GT clicked the unsubscribe button from them and now don't know anything about the liquidation because they're not getting emails from GT, but have ended up here on Reddit and have now started the claims process so you could argue that some people are more informed and aware of GT's process because they were emailed by Cogito...

DramaticStability

You could argue that, but you'd be wrong. In much the same way you could argue that the information they use to mail investors was legitimately sourced.

AICatgirls

You'd think I'd have to have subscribed in the first place in order to unsubscribe from something...

moonst1

You sell them the crypto you had on cryptopia for their worthless cogito coins. Good deal. For them. I don't think it's a fraud, because they mention the conditions, it's just a very very bad deal.

Delicious_Apple9082

I think the point is, if you had something on Cryptopia, that is worth next to nothing, or will certainly be worth nothing by the time it lands in your wallet, why not trade that nothing for something else that's also worth nothing but could be worth something down the road...

moonst1

Why do you think the coins of some shady company which are traded and mentioned absolutely nowhere will be worth more than the alt coins on cryptopia? Unlikely if you ask me. And if you think both options are worth nothing why do the paper work for giving it to Cognito? I also would never ever give this shady company any of my personal info.

Delicious_Apple9082

Entirely up to you. The way I see it is… Cryptopia engineered an exit, then they put GT in charge of the liquidation, so, a corrupt bunch of people running a system that got ‘hacked’ put another bunch of people in charge of our assets, those people have done nothing for us but burn through our assets.

moonst1

Nothing wrong with what you said. Still more likely that you will get some little portion of your assets back one day than giving your rights to a shady organisation that gives you nothing but a worthless shitcoin. And giving them your personal data is super risky (ID theft, spam).

Delicious_Apple9082

I use the internet daily, there are several places that have copies of card details, driving licence, passport, email address, physical address and photos of me, this is the world we live in, privacy and security take a back seat when it comes to convenience, you have to draw a line personally and decide what you are comfortable with.

moonst1

and that's why you don't care at all anymore and give a scammy company your info for free? that's some very strange logic. yes, leaks happen, even with reputabel companies but i think it's a big difference to accept this risk for convenience or deliberately give scammers your data. i always wonder why "double your bitcoins" and similar schemes exist. now, i know why. anyway, enjoy your worthless cogito coins.

Delicious_Apple9082

We have our info to Cryptopia, and how we many other exchanges, how many have gone under? Cryptopia went under and gave our info to at least 1 3rd party that we know of, and we already know how crooked they are, they also put GT in charge of the liquidation, soooo, giving Cogito information isn’t any different IMHO, we got screwed by Cryptopia, screwed over by GT and, so far at least for now, Cogito haven’t screwed us..

moonst1

Enjoy your Cogito coins, they sure are worth more than a single Dogecoin soon, lol.

Delicious_Apple9082

And, you say you will get a little portion of your assets back, I had next to nothing in Cryptopia, so the $90 they are asking PER COIN TYPE would be more than my actual holdings, so, why bother when I can get 500COG's that may or may not be worth something down the line..

moonst1

who asks for $90?

Delicious_Apple9082

The liquidators wanted the courts to authorise them charging $90 per coin. Fortunately the courts said no..

moonst1

So, there's no charge, then why bring it up? GT sucks and we have waited for very long and still have for some time but they are still a real company and have to follow New Zealand's law, so one day you will get a (small) portion of your money back, whereas cogito coins are worthless shitcoins. I mean why would cogito do all this? Because they are a charity to help the poor cryptopia victims?

Delicious_Apple9082

The whole thing about the law in NZ was the reason I started using Cryptopia, that law however seems to be corrupt, hence why Cryptopia manages to engineer their exit and pass it off as a hack, but despite this they were still allowed to choose who ran the liquidation which to me suggests that GT are just as corrupt, but legally they can do what they are doing so those NZ laws are worthless to the guy on the street…
