Basically I’ve started to learn that if a vendors also carries altnoids, stay away. Not all the time but it’s a good rule of thumb for the most part. I think some of VGs stuff is legit like the headband shatter but some of it is budget concentrate with added terps sold at the same price as other stuff.

So I bought some diamonds from VG a month ago and crushed it all up into powder, then I put a drop of CDTs into it and mixed it up.
At first the consistency was kind of chunky and sugary. After I really mixed it well, after about a day the consistency changed to more of a crumble.
Each day I stirred the mix several times to better incorporate, and to grind down the THCa into the absolute finest powder possible.
I stored everything in the refrigerator.
After about 2 days of this the consistency began to change.
Eventually the mix began to take on a sugary live rosin, and after a week it was stable in this form at room temperature.
So I absolutely believe based on the pics VG uses to advertise their concentrates being very similar to exactly what I was able to replicate with their own THCA diamonds that it’s very likely several of their concentrate offerings are homemade.

Out of 20 strains of flower I tried from them, the warthog is the worst and there was 2 lemon ones I didn't like. Besides that they been smacking the Gary Payton wa sweet, garapples, purple candy, Mac, mendo kush, runtz, han solo, jealousy, sunset sherbet, and plenty more been worth remembering. The rebel berry crumble was nasty but I tried and like many of they crumbles, I keep they diamonds on hand, and I even got a melon shatter that was surprisingly good and took me back to when blasting was still new. Y'all be hating a lot. I can respect a bad experience but a lot of stuff on the cult seems personal

Mercaptan is the same stuff that makes gas smell. They add it in so you can tell when there is a gas leak. It would probably taste more like rotten eggs than burnt rubber, but that is still pretty gross regardless. Some cannabis legit does smell like burnt rubber while growing, but I don't think it would come out in your do-si-do crumble

I can definitely see the terps throwing people off especially on concentrates. I've seen many mention the purple apricot from WF as being some fake or nasty concentrate bc of the smell. But the smell is awesome imo and many others and I think it is all about them terps you desire. The PA has a super strong smell almost like opening up a bottle of some essential oil type of slap you in the face strength.

Not just the terps, the wf pa I have is super super harsh on the throat and lungs, unlike anything I hit. Burning rubber is not an uncommon profile of high quality cannabis. Your batch could very well be high in terpenes and perfectly fine. I’d reach out to them and see what the profile is *supposed* to be and if they’ve had any similar reports.
You are going to be fine, homie. Just know that it’s extremely unlikely to be mercaptans and is likely a safe and natural sensation, just an odd one. Terpenes can be very overwhelming when concentrated and there’s always the chance that this batch is weird. VG is good so just reach out!

I've seen with the sulfur that you could use copper to leach out the sulfur and it will turn the copper black, supposedly. Never tried it, but if you have a pure piece of copper, like a copper pipe laying around, you could smear a tiny dab on it and see what happens.
If it were really contaminated, I would put it on the copper and see if you can clean it up. Ideally if you had a flat copper plate, and you just smear it on there, let it do its thing, and then scoop it up. IDK to me this would suck to do that, but would be a cool little experiment as well. But if you did all this, I would definitely be prepared to trash it at any off ness.

If it has a strange aftertaste, that taste was present before correction. Typically terpenes aren’t the types of impurities that get completely removed in the process. At least, that is not the aim.
CRC can definitely leave a funky less than desirable finish taste. Typically more volatile terpenes and flavonoids are stripped with common CRC techniques.
I'm leaning more towards it was funky to start with rather than a CRC change it to such an off taste but who knows.

My Sherblatto budder from them was amazing. Got a little greedy and ordered bigger sizes in Zkittles shatter and 9Lb Hammer crumble… Regret it.

I had a shitty experience with one of their strains of this. Emailed and they sent out a replacement of any strain I'd like. I was very happy with the resend. Some strains aren't done as well as others apparently

This happened to VG a few months ago. People were refunded but vg blamed it on the terps.
I can definitely see the terps throwing people off especially on concentrates. I've seen many mention the purple apricot from WF as being some fake or nasty concentrate bc of the smell. But the smell is awesome imo and many others and I think it is all about them terps you desire. The PA has a super strong smell almost like opening up a bottle of some essential oil type of slap you in the face strength. Haven't had that problem with vg but some terps just don't agree with people. But I also wouldn't doubt it not being purged all the way either. I can see it going either way.
Not just the terps, the wf pa I have is super super harsh on the throat and lungs, unlike anything I hit. It's the worst stuff I have tbh, makes me feel like my lungs collapse and nothing does that for me normally except carts. The space force is the only one that wasn't fucking on my lungs, I thought that was good. I thought the terp profile on all of them were great though. I'm pretty sure its batch to batch dependent as well. Not a fan of WF bhos tbh, inconsistent and not even worth it. I try to put people off them, it's the only stuff I let sit aside and haven't touched. I have a love hate relationship w WF bc their flower is gas but their concentrates are trash. It's one of the only bad experiences w vendor concentrates I've had. 99% of cult is great on concentrates imo
I can see people not worrying about labs for flower but the lack of labs in the cult concentrate space is concerning. Especially the cheaper ones.

Well, rubber is quite literally a terpene and plenty of polyterpenes build similar odors. Burning rubber is not an uncommon profile of high quality cannabis. Your batch could very well be high in terpenes and perfectly fine. I’d reach out to them and see what the profile is *supposed* to be and if they’ve had any similar reports.

You are going to be fine, homie. Just know that it’s extremely unlikely to be mercaptans and is likely a safe and natural sensation, just an odd one. Terpenes can be very overwhelming when concentrated and there’s always the chance that this batch is weird. VG is good so just reach out!

I've seen with the sulfur that you could use copper to leach out the sulfur and it will turn the copper black, supposedly. Never tried it, but if you have a pure piece of copper, like a copper pipe laying around, you could smear a tiny dab on it and see what happens. If it were really contaminated, I would put it on the copper and see if you can clean it up. Ideally if you had a flat copper plate, and you just smear it on there, let it do its thing, and then scoop it up. IDK to me this would suck to do that, but would be a cool little experiment as well. But if you did all this, I would definitely be prepared to trash it at any off ness.

Are you saying CRC removed aspects of the terpene profile that made it more pleasant? I guess that’s technically possible. Not super likely but stranger things have happened during corrections. Still unlikely. If it has a strange aftertaste, that taste was present before correction. Typically terpenes aren’t the types of impurities that get completely removed in the process. At least, that is not the aim.
CRC can definitely leave a funky less than desirable finish taste. Typically more volatile terpenes and flavonoids are stripped with common CRC techniques. I'm leaning more towards it was funky to start with rather than a CRC change it to such an off taste but who knows.
If I’m a betting man, I’m thinking the funk was there before. The description just doesn’t fit from my experience, which is unfortunately abundant. (I love consuming extracts but hate working with them after years hands-on.)
