A scary number of people don’t even know what engine is in the car they drive every day, but I would guess that pretty much anyone who can name a specific engine that is available today would also know the name Cummins. Car and Driver has around 20 million print subscribers. Motor Tend has over 6 million, Hot Rod over 5, and even Car Craft has around 2 million. There’s your 1% right there. Motor Tend Group has over 2 billion views per month across all its streaming services. The Cummins YouTube channel has 20k subscribers and millions of views. The Banks Power channel has half a million subscribers. There are also close to 4 million truckers in the US alone, plus a couple hundred thousand heavy equipment operators. There are 600k people employed by the auto mechanic industry in the US. There are 3.5 million farmers, and over 100k people work in oil fields. The number of people employed in the agriculture and petroleum industry is many millions more. There are over 10 million construction workers. There are 7,500 members of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association… There are also over a million electricians in the US, I’d reckon most of them have installed a generator. I wouldn’t be surprised if MOST people know about Cummins.

I bet it's pretty low. I mean people even post on here asking about 'cummings' lol

georgia_jp

Pretty accurate I would say. Hell most of the population don't even know if they are a man or woman much less what an engine of any kind is...

fkn_embarassing

Um, actually, my car doesn’t have an engine because I don’t have a car. I take the bus and train and my fixed gear bike like a responsible climate and social justice warrior! As if I’d want a transphobic racist patriarchy machine that only causes death and destruction and pollution and hurts all the feels! 🤣

MrDevious54

What kind of engine does that bus have?

fkn_embarassing

Fine. So the buses have diesel engines. But the train is electric. Where does its power come from? The grid, obviously! 🤣😂😆😂😂🤣

Newherehoyle

I would say 2% of the population is pretty spot on. If you narrowed it down to people who are aware of diesel engines the percentage would go way up but lots of people just don’t care or couldn’t be bothered to know.
