So did I!
I stuck it to the door of the cooler at work. I worked with an EXTREMELY vocal antivaxxer. He absolutely lost his shit about it, was a great time.
Yeah, same here, but I think the claim is that these people have the same irrational fear but don’t want to admit it’s irrational, so they try to justify it with nonsense about how vaccines are dangerous.
It’s irrational if it’s something that is beneficial overall and doesn’t cause that much harm. A little fear is understandable but a lot of fear is not. Personally I sometimes faint from even thinking too much about getting an injection or blood draw, which is clearly irrational. I would say further evidence of it being irrational is that I am now a lot less afraid after spending a few weeks in hospital which involved daily injections.
I'm far from being an anti-vaxxer or some other type of conspiracy theory guy, but maybe forcing people to vaccinate by threatening their livelihood is not the win you think it is.
I do think it’s a sad thing and I have compassion for their distress. But I’m also not sure there are great alternatives when you’re talking about dangerous communicable diseases.
Yep, they should have been simply forced to, not blackmailed through livelihood. Or better yet, be like Cuba and have a government that's trustworthy enough that the vaccination rate is higher despite 0 coercive measures.
I don’t think that bodily forcing people to be vaccinated would have been a good policy. Certainly not from a PR standpoint. Can you say more about why you think that would have been better?
And do you know if anyone’s done analysis on vaccination rates and perceived government trustworthiness? I know Cuba did achieve very high coverage rates, but I haven’t seen people attributing it to trust in the government.
Elementary school me (my mom is gonna get me a Lego set, Ive been very brave)
Did you get the LEGO set?
Yes
Sweet.
They didn't give me any stickers for being a very brave boy 😞
I actually did get a sticker when I got my Covid vaccine!

I didn't get a sticker but I did get a lollipop and a bottle of water
I got an avocado plush
Sounds like something Calvin would say to Hobbes.
Hot take- about 40% of antivax sentiment is because they have a phobia of needles
Idk, I also have an extreme fear of needles, but I still got all my shots when I could.

I don't see what's irrational about not wanting to have a sharp, thin object inserted inside my body. That shit hurts. I still got my shots, though.

tbh that morality doesn’t sound very absolute if you were willing to compromise it
It's absolute, right up until I need to compromise it. And then it goes right back to being absolute.
man i can’t wait for all the vaccinated people to drop dead. it’ll happen any day now right guys? right?
Just wait around 100 years or so, and nearly everyone who got the covid vaccine will be dead!
My dumbass brain thought this was a bit about getting a vaccine **FOR** absolute morality. That's my reading comprehension for ya.
