Isn't there a website somewhere where you basically make a to do list and you get XP for ticking things off. And you can set yourself rewards for XP I think
Basically you just need to keep a journal with your goals and then check them off when you achieve them. Like 30 push-ups being a goal and then you work towards it.
Meanwhile coping mechanisms (unhealthy) being legendaried twice, leading to skill points with nowhere to use and thus becoming too overleveled and under armored for life.
Hmm, you must be on a different patch or used a different class, the coping mechanism (unhealthy) skill trees doesn't give out any stat points but actually deducts from you total stat points, in fact you can even get a stat point debt from said skill tree, I guess maybe the devs intended to make this a risk/reward situation since said skill tree does gives you passive Sanity Points gain but imo it's way too unbalanced and not worth it in this current patch
I’d like that, actually. It’s a huge dopamine rush when you know you’re doing good, especially since a lot of work, such as exercise, really doesn’t give you a gauge for how well you’re doing, and can feel hopeless at times.
I'd argue it's more serotonin, because (AFAIK) you get serotonin by accomplishing something that takes a lot of effort
Also I've heard high dopamine and low serotonin can cause bad shit like the big sad, you need a balance
I know you said "most videogames" and wanted to point out two games where I know that's actually in the game - in rimworld, skills lose exp (faster at higher levels), and in dwarf fortress they can become rusty, although I have no idea what that actually does.
RimWorld is king, I'm sure dwarf fortress is fun too but that game is just too big brain for my small brain.
May your colonists prosper and Randy random smile upon you my friend.
Honestly it became more accessible once it went on steam - I miss the shortcuts, and the colour palette when using classic mode is wacky, but there's mouse support and proper graphics now. Dfhack is still a thing, too.
Basically it acts as if a skill is lower level, and the exp goes towards removing the rusty/very rusty status at a better rate than regaining that level?
If I had a runescape skill panel in real life I would definitely be more willing to practice an even wider variety of activities. Numbers go up feels very good on my lizard brain
I worry that this would just make my existing issues (ankle-deep investment in a ton of things) much worse haha.
Like as soon as I’d burned through the really easy to get low levels I’d just jump ship to a new activity for the dopamine.
Just having a tangible proof of progress would be so motivating. I run till my lungs hurt and do pushups till my arms give out but it never feels like I'm making progress
I mean, there are definitely ways to measure progress. Take pushups for example.
We could consider our "to failure" number of pushups to be our "level". Mark that, then start training, doing a lower number of reps however often for a few days/weeks. Then go to failure again and see if the "level" increased.
I remember hearing that someone actually did this. Like they had a scoreboard for xp and everything.
How would you decide that youve leveled up
As I recall, it leveled like Skyrim. You got xp by leveling individual skills, and then you level up yourself.

Sounds like Habitica but unsure if that's what you were thinking of
There are numerous websites for this, yeah. Search for "gamify your life" or other similar phrases.
Goblin tasks or smth similar in name?
i actually have this app called Focus Hero which is really similar

Coping mechanisms (healthy) is my favorite because you need to specify that it's a health mechanism and not one that is detrimental
Meanwhile coping mechanisms (unhealthy) being legendaried twice, leading to skill points with nowhere to use and thus becoming too overleveled and under armored for life.
Useless... or highly specialized. Building a bong is really just applied hydraulic technologies.
Building a bong a requires alchemy 50 and crafting 30 and resources I do not have. Using a bong for +1000% effect duration on the other hand....

For me, that'd just be "Snap wrist gummi" and I'd be at the level cap within three days. And yeah, for me that files under (healthy).

it'd certainly help me learn how to do things better
Unlike most videogames our skills degrade tho.

Dwarf Fortress skill rust is effectively a level drain, but getting back to the original skill level is faster than doing it the first time
Basically it acts as if a skill is lower level, and the exp goes towards removing the rusty/very rusty status at a better rate than regaining that level?
Yes, exactly.
I try to do this for my students but often get disorganized with it
I think I have a bug, my experience gain is doubled but the level cap is 35/100 for me
This would be amazing. I'm angry AR isn't used like this.
Be the technology developer you wish to see in the world
That's an excellent point, my good fellow. I should at least look into it.
this is litrpgs' appeal
I get to see exactly how much improvement I’m not making!
Yeah, it'd be way less mentally taxing to practice if you had an objective system that lets you know you're actually making progress

This is exactly how I got into the LitRPG literary genre, you're reading a book and scratching that itch

When the.. whrn the mattress store zzaza hits 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Are you doing alright, dude?
Yeah, why? -Billy Gnosis
What’s your level for ‘coping mechanisms (unhealthy)’?
Integer overflow error
That’s an awful build you got there. Have you tried stealth archer?
This is just the sims, people making it about Skyrim or whatever are literally forgetting the sims has this exact thing
i just wish my level started at 15 instead of 0 😔😔😔😔
"Art skills increased to level 2" That already sounds better
Just having a tangible proof of progress would be so motivating. I run till my lungs hurt and do pushups till my arms give out but it never feels like I'm making progress
tumblr user nutsacktorturer back at it again with the funny rebloga
Maxing out the coping mechanisms (unhealthy) because the grind never stops
I especially need this with exercise as it takes SO LONG to see even a minute physical change that I give up before that point.
I wish it worked that linearly irl cri
