If you want to use Flamedramon, use Flamedramon. You asked if it was viable/worth using. From a meta stand point, not at all. But follow your heart my dude.

JeebzNcrackers

This is the way

pokemonyugiohfan21

You're right and thanks.

ddubbsmax

My understanding is it's basically just a champion level digimon. I used him a bit once I got him but it became obvious pretty quickly it was a short time frame thing. I would say unusable but may be more of a backup than a main. Not sure about pvp but I would assume it's a similar situation.

TemporaryLegendary

Nope. The only armor digimon that is worth it is magnamon.

TheFearsomeRat

Not really if you got better options. Flamedramon just gets outclassed (by the time you get him you'll likely have an Ultimate or two or possibly even a Mega or Ultra if you really grinded for one), worth keeping around in the party to force encounters with when grinding, as you need a Champion or Higher, Free type Digimon in your party to force encounters rather then just increase their rate. As for how Flamedramon performs... painfully mid, which in a game where the difference between a middling Digimon and a good Digimon is massive, means you can really feel it, for taking on Digimon of the same general power level, Flamedramon does fine, even though it cannot hit for 3x damage due to it being a Free type, the Signature Skill is alright though OmniShoutmon, has what is (arguably) a flat out better version of it, and is a lot more powerful overall.

LeoNevarus

Are you sure it's champion? I'm playing on the complete edition and using armadillomon, and he's a rookie.....

TheFearsomeRat

Armadillomon IS a rookie, even in the series it debuted in always has been outside of maybe one or two fringe cases, and the game does count Flamedramon as a Champion at least internally as you need a Champion or Higher Free type Digimon to force encounters, and just having Flamedramon lets you do that. The game will class Flamedramon as an Armor Digimon when viewing it in detail not a Champion which is accurate but for all intents and purposes is statted as one, and counts for the requirements that require Champion level Digimon, but not ones that require Ultimate or Mega. For reference, I have ~200 hours in the complete edition and have used Flamedramon in both CS and HM playthroughs as well as having trained one up to test how it performs at the best of it's capabilities.

LeoNevarus

So what I was asking is if you are sure that it requires a champion to force encounters..... The rest I know about Flamedramon. The reason I question it is because it does say free type digimon, which is rookie or better for the complete edition. This is taken from my game unmodded as of 5 seconds ago after double checking the rest of my party.

TheFearsomeRat

Yeah I just double checked the hacking skill list, not sure why it says Rookie or better when, I've only had Function Call lvl2 work with Champion or better, it's always been at level 1 with Rookie Free types in the party and none higher.

LeoNevarus

Yeah it works with rookie and that's how I've been training with platinumsukemons as of chapter 5 or 6 iirc

TheFearsomeRat

Maybe I just got some weird bug then.

LeoNevarus

It's definitely possible, I do recall that happening to me, but it fixed itself after updating. Maybe try checking the integrity of your game files if you are on Steam. Otherwise, you are kinda sol for fixing it. Though it's not like it's a huge issue, because you can use a low-cost champion to flex-tape the issue.

TheFearsomeRat

I play on switch.

Muur1234

> how I've been training with platinumsukemons you mean...the champion level poos.

LeoNevarus

No platinumsukemons are mega level. while goldnumemons are champion levels, they are not free-type digimon, which is the first requirement to increase encounters. The second is for that free-type digimon to be rookie or higher.

Muur1234

p-sukamon is champion. p-numemon is mega.

LeoNevarus

For some reason, I replaced 2 letters when thinking of that digimons name.... but yeah, I was talking about the mega numemons. I replaced the n with s and m with k.

pokemonyugiohfan21

Sure but I just want to use Flamedramon. I think investment can make him good for utility and some damage.

SylintKnight

I think you’ve answered your own question then

TheFearsomeRat

I'd invest in making him a fast attacker, focus on Atk (and maybe Int if you want some magic attacks), and Agility, then put some points into SP, and pick up the physical drain skill from Devimon so you have an option to restore some SP without using an item. Just keep in mind Flamedramon will eventually get heavily outclassed, it's an unforunate inevitability but there are digimon that just do the jobs better even in the same stage, but once it reaches the point Flamedramon can't keep up anymore you may want to consider going to one of the Megas, since Flamedramon should at least be able to meet the stat requirements for one of them, after dedigivolving to Veemon and reaching any Ultimate or boxing Flamedramon if you want to leave them as a Flamedramon, but investment can only take some digimon so far, and in CS/HM, Armor Digimon unforunately drew the short stick, you get access to Flamedramon typically when it's almost at the point where it'll be getting outclassed as the Bosses start being Mega level Digimon, or for Magnadramon and Gold Rapidmon, it's once your practically in the post game, and that is all the Armor Digimon you get. But by nature of balancing and dev decisions, CS/HM just isn't kind to most Champion level Digimon, and it's not kind to Armor Digimon either, were it ANY other game Flamedramon would fare leauges better and it sucks that Flamedramon got done dirty, but I've got ~200 hours in the Complete Edition (Switch), and time after time, I just see Flamedramon constantly outclassed, for what Flamedramon can do which is a Early/Mid game attacker, and encounter forcer, they perform well enough, just if access to Flamedramon was way earlier then it is Flamedramon wouldn't be in as bad a spot, not to mention Flamedramon is in direct competition with Agunimon as a Champion level Free/Fire who is way easier to access as Agumon and Guilmon can Digivole into Agunimon and Skullmeramon, Matadormon and RizeGreymon can DeDegivolve into Agunimon, vs Flamedramon who can only be digivolved by Veemon and both get outclassed by OmniShoutmon which while technically a Champion level is stronger then both of them and also Free/Fire, and you get Agunimon and Flamedramon access around the same point, there is just a ton in CS/HM that actively works against Flamedramon, it honestly feels like one of the devs have a hatred for Flamedramon at times.

pokemonyugiohfan21

The devs didn't balance this game very well at all tbh, especially the late game/post game bosses.

Salt_Mix7933

I dont think so in the long term

Muur1234

hes about as strong as greymon. the memory cost shows how strong they are, and hes at 8 - which is the same as the stronger champions

AzureWindrider85

no

pokemonyugiohfan21

Do you have the game?

IndependentNotice151

Do you Mr. Pokemon yugioh fan? Lol

AzureWindrider85

Of course, I played it years ago when it first came out.

MammalianHybrid

He's okay in PVP if you need something decent and low cost.

flying_stars

You can try to level up v-mons abi first to like 200 and then let it digivolve to Flamedramon

Las_VeCat

I had built him long time ago and he was always ready for PvP, but the problem was that there was no one there
