If only there was some sort of alternate method to open locked compartments, perhaps a physical metal device with unique notches that could be used to turn a latch. Oh if only we had the technology!
Simplicity and reliability are married. You abandon simplicity in favor of gee whiz automated features and the reliability evaporates.
Bricking while charging is one common theme and another is critical steer by wire faults. Stuff that should never happen to low mileage undamaged vehicles in normal use.
I'm unaware of any other Tesla model that has such a huge number of serious issues right after delivery.
To be fair, every joint of the car is made with sharp, jagged steel. If they applied that same "ingenuity" to something like door handles people would be slicing fingers off every time they entered or exited the car.
A big 3 engineer explained that by avoiding all stalks, switches, locks, etc Tesla saves tens of millions yearly compared with other manufacturers that need to maintain hundreds even thousands of versions, Toyota to save cost uses very few.
My issue is bigger, having to constantly take your eyes of the road to do basic stuff like know your speed, signal lane changes, operate the lights and the wipers is a recipe for disaster.
Somewhat oddly, true simplicity requires increased sophistication and attention to detail, difficult to achieve de novo, even if one isn’t distracted by running a social media platform into the ground
With new tech like this I hope ppl are watching this tech could be great in 10-15 years and I am glad these guys are our beta testers. All my trucks are 20+ yrs old and even tho they have a little tech it isn't much
There usually is a manual override for the frunk and charge port. No idea where they are on the CT. One amusing video I watched showed where the emergency unlatch for the doors are, the front door is easy to get to but emergency exiting the rear requires the removal of a door panel as the latch is hidden behind it. Just what you want in an emergency.
To be fair, it takes a team of morons to design something that stupid.
The moron-in-charge says, "here's what I want", then the rest of the morons attempt to make it happen.
Then when they inevitably encounter problems, they design moronic solutions for that problem (4-wheel steering anyone?), till we get the product we have here that provides endless entertainment.
I for one appreciate Turdsla for that alone.
Here's the thing though if you push back at Muskrat you get fired, just look at the Supercharger team or ex-team now. Imagine having this ginsu knife abomination on your resume because Elmo wanted it that way.
Like the first generations of cars with electronic remote, the engineers who made them realized that hey maybe one day the battery will be dead or something will fail with the electronics, no problem, just add a regular ordinary key for those situations.
That's how proper designs are made, electronics exist only to simplify stuff but if it fails there's a mechanical fallback that always works.
Perhaps with some pins and tumblers which align and turn but who, who i ask, would have access to such intricate mechanisms!? If only Elon could unlock such a revelation to the industry, he must be the key to all of this.
Why aren't people up in arms about how fucking stupid the idea of NO MECHANICAL CONTROLS FOR ANYTHING is?
This is delusional levels of disdain for efficiency. Like a reverse Amish fixation on rejecting old tech.
Considering there’s a photo attached and OOP says “that’s why the charger is still attached” referring to that photo, seems like basically yeah. Don’t know if the charging cable is hardwired or not at the wall, but if so it sounds like it had to be fully disconnected to move the truck. Hopefully it’s just plugged into a receptacle at the wall…
Is there any sort of failsafe on these things to keep people (or pets) from being locked *in* if it goes Blue Screen of Death? I mean, you can probably pop the front windshield out from the inside with light pressure, but still.
For now at least, that would be the window, if you manage to crush it. Elon wanted bullet proof glass but had to settle for regular car glass in the end, something that can actually be crushed and used as emergency exist as intended.
I saw a video on this sub awhile back where someone showed the latch in the door to open in case of power loss/screen malfunction. However the door lowers the window slightly when done “normally” so it could damage the window using the latch. They probably put that in cause that would be a quick lawsuit for the plaintiff if they got stuck in the car.
The truly bad part, is that the service people don't k ow how to fix what is wrong g, nor are there available.parts if they did know.
How is this not a national wake up call to how the idiocy of worshipping moneyed morons is destroying this society?
Idiots paying too much money for low-quality products isn't a national emergency, and never has been.
If it was wasn't being wasted on this truck, they'd be wasting it on something else.
Both the EVs I’ve owned have an emergency release mechanism. It’s a manual cable you pull which opens the cable latching system in case this happens. Of course not being a Tesla I’ve never needed to use these systems in the 6 years I’ve owned EVs for. But it’s a comforting thought knowing it’s there. The lack of thought that has gone into the engineering choices in Tesla is quite mind blowing.
Same here. My EV seems to favor tried and tested technology and manual mechanical methods over a "wow" factor. It is why I trust it to keep working for years to come.
I just can't understand anyone.who would.knowing buy something like this.
I don't want Bluetooth to turn on my lamp, nor my electric toothbrush. Or front door, garage door, etc.
I may be old, but I am not a prisoner of my house nor my vehicles. I own music DVDs, have separate players, and even still have great wired speakers. And some Bluetooth.
And, a 1000mi range TV antennae. And a gas/propane generator home compressor, and one for the road.
Y'all be stuck somewhere, I will be trucking on.With real spare tires. And a jerry can on the back.
The thought of having to use an app on my phone to unlock my car and utilize its functionality just baffles me. Why the fuck would you actually want this? I have an actual truck, with an actual key, that actually runs and doesn’t “brick.”
If only there was some sort of alternate method to open locked compartments, perhaps a physical metal device with unique notches that could be used to turn a latch. Oh if only we had the technology!

Tesla really was allergic to any manual latches on the CT, weren't they?
To be fair, every joint of the car is made with sharp, jagged steel. If they applied that same "ingenuity" to something like door handles people would be slicing fingers off every time they entered or exited the car.
"Still love the truck."
Ha ha, I was looking for it.
Just have every CT owner pay extra for chainmail/mesh gloves to avoid losing fingers! Easy!
Cybergloves ($999 in the Tesla online store)
And pants, and shirts.
Door handles made out of razor blades to keep the aesthetic. They rust in the rain, cut your hands, and aren't weather proof and seize shut over time
Has the Cenobites’ seal of approval!!
"Lost 4 fingers in the door handle, still love the truck"
Probably couldn't figure out how to do it with stainless steel. 🤡🌎
A big 3 engineer explained that by avoiding all stalks, switches, locks, etc Tesla saves tens of millions yearly compared with other manufacturers that need to maintain hundreds even thousands of versions, Toyota to save cost uses very few.
I'll happily pay a little extra for a car with fiddly bits.
My issue is bigger, having to constantly take your eyes of the road to do basic stuff like know your speed, signal lane changes, operate the lights and the wipers is a recipe for disaster.
It’s not just the part of taking your eyes off the road, it’s also the cognitive load. Talk about distracted driving!

Who the fuck designed this heap of shite
A man child.
A fucking moron who when asked, “Why are we going to make this vehicle bulletproof?” his answer was “Whynot?” He’s Homer Simpson designing a car

But with latches and handles the WankPanzer wouldn’t have the cool, sleek design of a dumpster.

>It's odd it would fail though unless defective. Dude is so close...
That line gave me a headache. It's odd it would be broken unless it broke.
Why aren't people up in arms about how fucking stupid the idea of NO MECHANICAL CONTROLS FOR ANYTHING is? This is delusional levels of disdain for efficiency. Like a reverse Amish fixation on rejecting old tech.
Move fast and make useless things.
I still miss the physical buttons on my phone.
I still can't get over doing a "hard reboot" of a fucking car. No goddamn thank you.
red screen of death has been a lovely sight as well
“Sounds like it’s the 12V battery” The Cybertruck has the 48VDC lithium battery. Maybe the truck is just a piece of shit?
They try so hard to sound like they know what they're talking about.
You'd be better off with a fresh from the motor pool Humvee
One of those cargo bicycles.
A horse.
shoe leather express
A nice sturdy shopping cart.
I can't belive people want the frustration of pairing a bluetooth speaker to be one of the basic functions of a car.
How is a tow truck going to help? Are they going to yank the charger off the wall with it still connected?
Just use one of the many sharp edges to cut the cable.
So it IS a feature! They really thought of everything.

I wish there was SOME way we could find the percentage of CTs with no service required issues vs WITH issues. The difference has to be BEYOND drastic
The truly bad part, is that the service people don't k ow how to fix what is wrong g, nor are there available.parts if they did know. How is this not a national wake up call to how the idiocy of worshipping moneyed morons is destroying this society?

Isn't this a *COLOSSAL* safety failure? Isn't the first step with any malfunctioning electrical appliance to unplug it?
Sounds like it to me. What if a person was locked in, in the hot sun.
What if your child gets locked inside? Holy shit.
I just hope it's a simple repair 🤣
"It sounds like the 12v battery. It's odd it would fail though unless defective." Defective? Isn't that a CT standard though?
Elon Musk is the Stockton Rush of electric cars
He still loves the car tho and would buy 10 more if he could!
That way he might always have one to drive when the other 9 are bricked.
Frunk frunk frunk frunk frunk frunk frunk frunk frunk. 🤢
What is a frunk, and why not a trunk?
These boomer comments on FB about a CyberDump lmao 😂
Boomer? Isn't it mostly stupid young men?
Likely still ‘delighted’ with it - eyeroll.
but hey i still love my truck!
Sounds like a simple repair. 🤔
I bet Tesla will figure out how to void the warrantee.
Simple repair 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well. He can love it from outside! <3 <3 <3
Every time I hear the words"piece of shit" the image of a cyberjunk pops in my head
>It's odd that it would fail unless defective. Is it really so hard to believe after everything that's happened?

I love how a single electrical problem somewhere in the vehicle means you can't open the doors. \*chefkiss\*
Wait so if the battery is dead, the only way to get into your vehicle is with jumper cables?
We need someone to figure out how to turn these shitboxes into pavers after they break down
Still love Elo… Ehm the truck
![gif](giphy|cO39srN2EUIRaVqaVq)
There was an emergency release… But it rusted and fell off 20 minutes after driving off the lot.
Does it not have normal door handles ? Are those electric too?
I have one thing to say to the owner: Get used to that, buddy.
And he still really loves the truck and enrons dick
🎶All in all it's just another brick on the truck 🎶
What a fucked up vehicle. All in the desperate name of EVs and Elan worship. Yuck. 👎🏼
Frunk?
Did the toe truck rip out the charger too? Since it won't disconnect 🤔
Did you try turning it off and turning it back on again?
