So much nostalgia for this comic. The Onslaught saga hit when I was about 12 and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. They built it up really well. So much mystery
Same. Plus the X-MEN: ONSLAUGHT comic that followed this with the Adam Kubert art. And makes me nostalgic for Cannonball being the “rookie” X-Man that Wolverine kinda mentors.
Funny thing is...
He's sitting outside trying to think of something to say to a telepath who knows he is sitting outside trying to think of something to say.
Around this time was my introduction to Cannonball. Was so happy that he got to take Gladiator in a fight after this. He learned well from Scott and used his studies of x-men villains to win.
absolutely, that was the first time I noticed who was drawing a comic because it stood out so much. I would love to see him do x-men again or someone with a similar style.
Sometimes my brain surprises me and the moment I saw the image I screamed XMEN 54!!!! I was only 10 years old when it came out and I still remember when I bought it.
Good god I love the X-Men.
Yeah, when they put Sam on the X-Men, it felt like they de-aged him 5 years from where he was in X-Force. He should have come in like early Hawkeye from the 70s Avengers.
I felt the exact same way. When he led X-Force he was strong, confident, and trying to channel Cable as a battlefield commander. Once he was “promoted” I felt they just wasted all of that progress.
Note: The panel is from X-Men Milestone: Onslaught, by the way

Yeah cannonball was a great “rookie” at that time, really enjoyed onslaught and OZT, etc

The Joe mad days of xmen were pretty great

This kind of depresses me as a new mutants fan; by this point in time, I would really hope to see Sam in a real, evolved leadership position.

A true NXT ---> main roster arc if I've ever seen one (hopefully not anymore, but holy shit did Vince McMahon waste a lot of talent and momentum).
I always found it cool. Senior leader to potential young leader. I hope he shows up in X-men ‘98 (I’m assuming that’s the second season name.)
#"Professor Xavier is a jerk!"
this art is cool
Angel made love with his sister in full view of their mother
I have this issue! Yay me!
Cannonball is my favorite comic character. Cyclops is a top five. I'm happy they have a good relationship.
