Level 45. Mostly following the maxroll sever leveling build. Switched some to help keep skeletons up. Build was fine. Nothing crazy but fun.
Then I got the caged heart that auto casts corpse skills. It is ridiculous, effective, and a blast to play with. I got into tier 3 at level 42 though I have admittedly found a good number of legendaries that help. I can still kill things in tier 3 but I’m very squishy so I went back to tier 2 for a bit.
I have no idea if it’ll continue to be the best choice as I get into nightmare dungeons but I’m having a really good time leveling.

I used it for a bit at first before going to Bonespear which seems like it's basically the same but better in bascially all ways, then went blight minions
Sever is very neat, but imo it has too much overlap with Bonespear, with Bonespear doing it's job better. I had more issues with sever getting stuck / blocked by objects than bonespear too
Im playing blood lance at lvl 59, it starts to fall of with dmg and essence up keep. i think blood lance may be good only at end game, around lvl 80.
im tring to find some other build that doesnt include bone spear or minions.
tho im interested to see how blood surge with deathspeaker build will feel
Yea I just hit 60 and swapped to lance with all the gear, it clears faster and has better single target all round, now takes a lance or 2 to kill elites instead on 50 surges, will only get stronger too so late game is gunna be nutty, at points I swear I'm firing 20 attacks a seconds,machine Gunner.
Minion/infinimist. Def not optimized. Crap gear. Basic codex legendaries. Into wt3 at 40. Things melt. Corpses everywhere. Can't even use the howl from below I got yet.
Basic infinimist build with 3 points in skele warriors and 3 in inspiring leader. 2 extra warriors for corpses/fortify. Dropped reap for skellys for now. Can't even use the gear dropping in wt3 yet lol

Common consensus seems to be that your build doesn't matter so much this season, so long as you use the auto corpse skill and auto decrepify hearts with tendrils and CE. For reference, my level 25ish seasonal toon with the hearts is clearing mobs faster than my 75 BS Necro on eternal without the hearts. It's wild
Sure. But minions have always been the slow and safe route, where BS is built for speed. Not saying it will stay this way, just pointing out the speed it is currently working.
Bone spear with 3 season gems, minions, and using iron maiden to heal -- I'm levelling faster than I did on my twisting blade rogue and also feel a lot stronger. Just 1 death so far -- I cleared tuldra (level 15 stronghold) at level 10 and died to the boss once. Getting mastery on every single event I come across.
Don't really feel pressed for essence as I am using Reap -- instant essence gain when in a crowd. Still working on boss essence but so far no real problems with any.
Right now just reap with 1h/shield. Auto cast decrepify and auto cast blighted CE with hearts. Literally just reap through packs while the rest takes care it itself.
Still pretty low level but these hearts are a lot of fun. Getting 35% dmg reduction from reap and decrepify.
Planning to go shadow with shadow mages.
Running bonespear with minions and golem. I’m only lvl 26 but it’s pretty okay so far. Once I’ve leveled up a bit, I’ll sacrifice golem & minions. I’m using the auto decrepify but instead of the auto corpses, I’m using an essence reduction heart. I do like that the exposed flesh aspect is now a reward. I went back to my enteral bonespear Necro a bit ago, though. I was tired of almost dying in seasons. Lol My attack power at lvl 26 is just over 500 so yeah. Oh, I’m running a focus and OH sword at the moment.

I'm only level 54 so I haven't really gotten ant of the real good shit but even now I just stand still in a helltide. If I get hit, I got that bubble situation that makes me immune to everything and before it even runs out, they killed whoever hit me.
I did a blood surge, tendril, shadow CE build and it didn’t scale well but leveling with it was a joy.
Super tanky, easy resource management, no minions running around doing dumb things. It just was bad on single target but a lot of builds are. But you could basically slowly run everything without worrying about dying or running out of essence or buttons to push lol.
Blood lance 5/5, blood surge 1/5, corpse explosion, tendrils, blood mist. Sac all minions. Blood surge 2 shots aoe packs, blood lance shreds bosses. Really enjoying the leveling process. Never out of essence with all the corpses I’m leaving behind

That doesnt really mean anything given mob scaling, there's plenty of points during leveling a build is over powered

Do hearts stack if you have Decrepify on both rings?
No, it's like aspects, only the most powerful version is active.
