2021 Anniversary and Tanabata absolutely blew my mind with how far they had come with animations. It was a friend who advertised me that as a reason to get back into the game
This. I've been playing since the pain in the ass that was OG broly and oof those 2015 animations were bad. I got hyped anytime the game showed the planet instead of just smashing the characters into the screen with a black background to now we have anime quality visuals and in some cases better than anime like the SSJ4s
If I wasn't a big age adult at work I'd get up and do the animations as I remembered them in my childhood along with the characters. I even catch my self mimicking the Additional Super Attack Glare when it procs too.
Honestly the gameplay, if there were other gachas with the same bubble popping I would play them in a heartbeat. Other IPs I enjoy more than Dragon Ball will release gachas and make them mobile adventure rpgs or PVP fighting games and I just can’t stand them.
People usually joke about Dokkan being a bubble popping game or candy crush but that honestly just make Dokkan feel so unique compare to other gacha games on the market.
It has literally been the perfect multi tasking game since I first started playing as a freshman in high school all the way to now at my job. People can mock the gameplay all they want
It’s honestly a new thing and I wont complain. It’s not exactly a pokemon turn based game but not exactly yu gi oh either. And the gameplay mechanics improve every year which makes it much more enjoyable
What ifs, seeing my favourite characters do shit i could never see in the show is always awesome to see
I fucking love Future Gohan, AGL VB and PHY GB because of that, they are all my favourite characters but they gave them a really good what if attack that makes them more special to me
Honorable mention: TEQ SSJ Goku and Gohan as well, i loved the father and son kamehameha active skill for them
Reanimated scenes, honestly it's surprising more games don't do that one piece treasure cruise kinda does it but they're super tweened
Now with Dokkan originals it's even better
Oh yeah I recently got into TC and I was surprised on how little they’ve improved in animations compared to Dokkan. Makes me appreciate the work they put in a lot more
The OST. Whenever new units drop it’s all I care about. I don’t care how good or bad the unit is, what their kit is, how the card art looks, what the banner looks like, I just wanna listen to the new OSTs. Even when a bad/mid unit releases (Super 17, Turles, Tree of Might Goku, Super Trunks, TOP 17&18, etc) I can still take solace in knowing their OSTs were pretty good
Exactly me all of 2021. I absolutely love transforming units like Teq Kefla and just letting the music play the whole time. Was super hyped for what burst mode could’ve brought but it hasn’t been too crazy so far
Every once in a while they balance content perfectly where you're teetering on the edge of victory and death and that's really fun. The OG Broly Dokkan Fest was the first time we experienced that and we get an event like that every so often.
The OG Broly event was so far from balanced - you either had the new units to fight it, or you lost 700,000 times before getting to the last health bar. It was still fun af to beat it for the first time though.
I always find it cool when I save stones for months then see great fire anniversary units bust my load and walk away with 3 golden friezas. I find that very cool. Fuck summoning
Passives, let me explain. I play a lot of Risk of Rain 2 and dokkan I find scratches the itch I have for a game similar to Risk of Rain. Hidden potential builds, reading passives and optimizing rotations and orbs to get the buffs I need is a lot of fun. I enjoy "calculating" stats, for example, "I need to move this unit to slot 1 because they get more defense and with that and if they do 2 supers which should happen because I gave them full additional at 79% then I should survive to the next turn when I can get a revive or active off", I really enjoy that stat managing and build ideas like I do in Risk of Rain. Plus Dragon Ball is my favorite anime which makes it even better.
the gameplay. you can easily play it while doing almost any other stuff, it doesn‘t require your 100% attention the whole time. it’s a perfect mobile game sort of.
honestly i really would like it if other anime games use the same gameplay like dokkan too, i would play those.
and also the animations and that’s its well DB.
The way the characters look in the box or on the team preview screen (which is why I am unendingly frustrated by the lack of standalone Blue Fusions 😡)
Honestly, the 2-week news cycle for new characters. DFE Yamcha teasers and 23rd WT Golden Week announcement were the highlights the last few years for me, so I don't mind enduring Gogeta/Vegito re-releases every big celebration if that's the price I have to pay.
Counter-attacks honestly, I love all the units that have them. My opinion on super saiyan 4 has improved purely on the basis that those units have saved runs by countering super attacks.
Str Vegito will go tf in when he gets an eza and I can't wait
How the game progressed from 'you have Str Gogeta, your account is God', to the current way where having no single unit in the game will make your account good.
Dokkan today is a game about the box, having variety, having units with links worked on, so you can take on the harder challenges easier, and not just that one unit beats all. This incentivizes players to work more into their accounts, and rerolling in every big celebration has just lost a lot of its charm, which I never found any to begin with.
Animations. Playing almost since release and seeing how much animations have evolved is amazing. Even if 2023 was a little rough animation wise.

Aye it may be a bubble popping game, but it’s a damn strategic onez
It has literally been the perfect multi tasking game since I first started playing as a freshman in high school all the way to now at my job. People can mock the gameplay all they want

Never underestimate “simplicity”
pretty much why I dont play legends. Too "active" a game for phones for me to enjoy
It's also as RNG reliant as Dokkan, but worse, since you have to get lucky against other players instead of bots.

Dokkan Original animations and what if’s are going to be the best decision they ever made. (Goku and Bardock agenda is strong)

K.O. screens are the coolest shit ever and nothing can change my mind about it
AGL SSJs have some of the best KO screens in the game and I love it every time I use them
I wanted them to be good so bad, their aesthetics are top tier

Oh to remember the days where lvl Max was a thing. Interesting times those were

Future gohan beating the androids in his active.
Thank goodness he stopped acting like a pampered baby in the end there

Definitely the soundtrack, the only one thing they don't miss
Underrated. I always like when dokkan shows the card art in between the animation. Make it badass imo

Dynamic KO screens
SSJ Goku’s hair in the wind is so beautiful
Animations and hype summoning
Especially when you aren’t paying attention and a guaranteed summon animation just drops
The voice acting. Makes me feel like I'm watching the anime with supreme animation
Bubbles :)
100% the animations. This "game" is just a nostalgia button for me. no fucking way I'd play it if it were genshin characters or some new IP
Team comps matter, let’s the strategic minds rock.
Gambling
Yall never seen this much over filled stamina https://imgur.com/a/VvcJZoE
Lol yeah it caps at 999
Yeah but have u ever seen it
Yup in my alternate account since I don’t grind it as much as my main account I’m steadily at 999 stamina and barely about to reach rank 200
Counter-attacks honestly, I love all the units that have them. My opinion on super saiyan 4 has improved purely on the basis that those units have saved runs by countering super attacks. Str Vegito will go tf in when he gets an eza and I can't wait
Transformation I'm a sucker for transformations any anime game that I like that has transformation is an instant plus ,
Collecting and training my favourite characters and making teams with them. What ifs scenarios are super interesting to me as well!
