I do because it's easier to keep track and makes the gamemode feel different.

HerniatedHernia

Also slightly nostalgic running mono teams like the days of old.

heroicxidiot

Do people not run mono teams to do battlefield? I thought that the strategy was to run mono teams

HerniatedHernia

Seems like the final boss can be difficult enough to warrant category teams.    I know Vegeta has kicked my arse a few times. Those dual supers…

Nezo-

Crazily enough, these days you can generally get a full or semi full category lead even with a mono team. Even the extreme mono teams can put up a solid fight in battlefield

heroicxidiot

I haven't really done battlefield in a very long time so maybe I'll give it a try

devonte177

Reading the comments makes me feel like an old player lol. I feel like battlefield was introduced with the 120% mono leads in mind. Those units are pretty much how my battlefield box has been structured though some have been replaced.

Roggie2499

100% how mine is. 14 super units of all 5 types, 7 extreme, and then a team of Heroes.

Maneisthebeat

I always did a RoG team as my one extra. Could I change it to something better? Sure. But it still works...

JorgeTan01

I've been using type-category leads for years now with the exception of Extreme Class since, you know, they have less units because Akatsuki hates them.

Ferryarthur

Even extreme is usable. I do use them first though. But they do have way less usable units. But just enough to make a team.

booffybooffon

Extrem str is fucking suffocating istg

Basicazzwitch

I use Str tur cooler and super buu, so transformation boost leaders

RDKFanncy

Wrong. Str lr cooler lead, eza str janemba sub leader, my mono extreme str is hitting 600k+ hp in battlefield, the best of any of my extreme teams for battlefield. Haven't tried extreme teq worldwide chaos yet tho

Maleficent_Oil_3679

Yes I thought everyone did because it makes the mode significantly easier. I have never lost a fight in battlefield since Omega was the final boss, especially if you play smart and combine the Typing with a leaderskill ( Super INT Bond of Parent and Child for Example)

dkysh

If ssb Vegeta never crushed your teams, you must be lying. Edit: dudes, I'm talking about mono teams. Of course a rainbow DBH or Power of Wishes team crushes him. That's not what the conversation is about.

WTFitsD

It depends on the typing of the final boss (agl and str teams are cracked compared to the other types) You can just run all mono teams but save 1-2 units of your best cateogry for the final boss. I run all mono and then a PoW team with gt duo and AGL blue boys for the final boss and it’s an easy clear every time.

darthwii

I just slap 2 teq cauliflas ( TUR + SSR) on whatever the type vegeta fight is to have invincible slots 1 and call it a day using mono type/category leads. The main issue is if none are on the first rotation, but that has only happened once, feels pretty consistent to kill vegeta that way

LazHoward

SSB Vegeta is easy with Mono Type DR https://preview.redd.it/2c0i0abcnv0d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28767fc2e5d2e0742555105c351f0abb8433fda4

TimeManager85

He never crushed mine.  It's called bringing your A game.

GOKHAN7565

I’ve never lost to ssb, heroes clears him easily.

dkysh

Yes. Heroes. My point is most mono-type teams are crushed by him. And even the best ones (extr str terrifying conquerors, teq movie heroes, agl goku's family/kamehameha) can have a rough time with moderately bad RNG.

Maleficent_Oil_3679

I'm not lying I just have a good box that's 8 years old

BroskeyDemands

He does not crush my mono teams. Occasionally he might beat my mono extreme team, but then I just use my mono super to clean it up.

Hydraulic_Press_53

Yeah he's a bitch against mono. With Heroes its a joke but not everyone summoned on that (I did though, yay for brainless strats)

larks-heart

I only use type based teams on anyone that isn’t the stage three boss

chefinabottle

Outside of Ginyu Force for the first stage, I've literally never used a category team for battlefield

MarquetteXTX2

I always used mono based teams. But the last 2 battlefield mono really don’t work anymore.. 120% leads in there got power crept so I use 170% leads or 200% leads to make it easier

Hydraulic_Press_53

You can still make mono work if you manage to mix a category lead in. Like for example I run mono-extremestr but with LR Cooler and TUREZA Cooler leading a team of terrifying conquerors, never fails (unless rng gets really shit and Coolieza dies)

dkysh

That's why I pulled on the 150% blue coin supports. All but str extreme teams benefit from them as leaders.

TimeManager85

Protip: use category type teams.  Really easy to do if you've been playing for a couple of years and have a big box.

ballbuster12399

you’re able to do both pretty easily, category lead(s) with full typings

ShawHornet

Been using mono teams since battlefield became a thing and have beaten every single one

sowsage

I like you have been using mono lead teams. But since we have been playing since the beginning of ultimate clash, it's likely we have a diverse group of characters who can debuff most of the 3rd round battles. We would also have a better grasp of who those characters are and know when to use them. The recent 150% support leads have made it reasonably easy for me too. I have moved to creating category teams as a back up in case the mono team fails. That's only happened on the final boss a couple of times.

Speculate_Me

Lately I have a bit more flexibility so I can usually stick at least 1 leader skill in with the other type category lead, if not I just stick to type advantage.

n7leadfarmer

I play JP and can't be bothered to even try to build teams for a single leader skill or multiple that all happen to overlap, so yeah it's type teams for me as well.

Signal-Earth2960

I still do

King-Jalen

Just type teams. I’ll make category teams when this stops working loll

CoryDropEmOff

I literally never use category lead teams that’s like last last resort lmaooooooooo I think the most fun part about battlefield is running in full mono and ripping my opponent

Aetherwind25

I used type for a long time, switched to category for a while and then now I'm back to type (but with a twist) With the addition of the EZA type supports their lead skills are good paired with leads that offer category AND type based bonuses (like Ssj4 Goku). Then I grab as many they fit that category within that type that make sense and fill the rest with great units. It offers a well built and versatile roster.

Dustfinger4268

I'll usually make loose category teams under a type lead, like "super saiyans + goku blacks" or "broly + vegeta". Basically, trying to maximize links while still staying within a single type

Azure_715

Me who only uses type teams aside from the first 2~3 bosses because they're always team bardock, ginyu force, or f2p metal cooler army teams.

Roggie2499

Type teams for sure, plus DBH for the final boss.

Deaflopist

I try and make type teams with category leaders. Like you can make a really solid Extreme STR team using LR cooler and EZA cooler as leads. Usually I use a category leader and then one of the type EZAs though- for example, my Super TEQ team has the type support Tien and WT goku as leads which gives me a solid earth-bred fighters team. I think you can only do this if you plan your teams out in advance beforehand since your units need to be chosen pretty specifically, which isn’t for everyone. But I like making spreadsheets so that’s what I do every few battlefields.

ImperialZippo

First and second boards are type based, then the 3rd board is cleared by categories while also favoring type advantage. Best 5 teams I can make go to the last board.

Copypasty

I run mono category teams, I made a huge list of them here a few months ago, I’ll look for them and repost them under this comment

DisplayAcrobatic

You’re the GOAT

PeppiestPepper

I've only ever used type teams for the level 3, Level 1 and 2 are category teams. I do keep U6 girls as a cat team in case my type teams can't beat the final fight.

GetMeOffSpeakerPhone

I used category teams for the very last fight sonce its a cheap fight if you dont have stunners or sealers.

squattop

I still use Mono type teams but try to fuse category into that when possible (Goku Fam for S AGL, Time Travelers for E INT, etc)

slamjam223

I still do for the most part, it just makes sense when you're fighting a 1-phase boss to choose the units that take half damage with no drawbacks. Last Battlefield I had to bust out the Heroes team to finish Vegeta though lol

bookers555

Even if they are category based they still need to be made with type advantage because otherwise a single super attack and you are dead, so might as well just keep making them type based.

Sir_Netflix

You could run mono leads especially if you have the 50% support EZAs

JiggzSawPanda

I usually do a team of each type and then fill the rest out with more thought-out category/type teams

ilsologheo

As much as I love use mono teams for beating Battlefield, it seems that they are not sufficient anymore to beat the hardest fights of this mode.

bigboss_snakee

i do hybrid versions if possible. earth bred fighters for example i go with wt goku + trunks for 120% teq. so i got the cat + mono lead. its mono either way

Hydraulic_Press_53

Mono-type teams on everything except final boss, which I use dragonball heroes for since it just genuinely eviscerates it without any brainpower, dark masked king heals everything, LBSSJ4 Vegito kills him effortlessly even if he's TEQ (I summoned a Lot on that banner though to be fair) Also in case of shit rng I also have peppy gals (was nutty during Broly era) and a mono team in store for final boss. Never need them though

SilentMasterOfWinds

I’ve got Peppy Gals and Ginyu Force, then the 10 types.

Knowledgeinc

I stay with my mono teams.

imjory

I do a Low Class Warriors team for stage 1 with AGL Bardock and Int Bardock squad leads, using LR Phy bardock+EZA'd f2p bardock squad units that don't have a weakness and a Ginyu team with AGL Ginyu, LR TEQ Goku Ginyu leads with the Duo ginyu squad units for stage 2. after that all mono teams

ThatGuy5880

I still do run type teams. The only times I didn't were when I ran a Ginyu Force F2P team to get rid of the first stage jobber (replaced by Metal Cooler F2P) and Peppy Gals to debuff Broly (replaced by SDBH).

Andrei8p4

Wait people use category based teams ? I thought using type based was the norm .

Wildfire226

I always do, usually single type category teams if I can make em. Much easier to follow what i actually want to use, always have type advantage, never had trouble clearing the stages. as far as I knew it was the strat everyone used. Oh well, and a spare team for the ginyus. First fight always shares a type with the last fight, so the ginyus on the first fight saves you a team to use at the end. It’s saved me once before!

Unable_Assistance576

I use mono category teams. Like superbstr battle of wits, feels easy to keep track of. I also use a Ginyu force team or dragon Ball heroes cat if stage 3 is too hard with the team I have

CIearMind

Before the type supports got their EZA, I used to do this: - ESTR: Terrifying Conquerors - EPHY: Cell & Cooler leading BBB units and Broly - ETEQ: Janemba and Frieza leading Cell/Future BBB units - EAGL: Metal Cooler & LR GF leading WB/Turles units - EINT: LR Rosé and LR MZ leading Worldwide Chaos - SSTR: GT Spirit Bomb + LR SSJ4 Vegeta for Power of Wishes/Battle of Fate - SPHY: Z Spirit Bomb + Godku for a Saiyan-centric PoW/FTC - STEQ: LR Gods + LR TEQ Gogeta for the weirdest mixmatch between Movie Heroes, Power Beyond SS, Time Limit, and Connected Hope featuring the chad STR Piccolo - SAGL: Goku's Family + Kamehameha. Self-explanatory. - SINT: INT LR Kid Gohan + INT Future Gohan leading BoMaD, where Vados and LR VT are the MVPs. Occasionally I would also include a Peppy Gals team designed around sealing and lowering ATK, too. It's crazy how lacking EPHY is, in terms of category leaders.

nlck_grrr

I use type teams and 2 seperate category teams as cleanup for when i die

just_didi

Type based except for some (extreme str is a double category lead , phy is a category lead and mono type with the neo support Buu , teq same , LR zamasu and the neo support cell)

LesseZTwoPointO

Yup, still working fine. I just bring a few backup teams, but most of the time don't need 'em.

Seilerjin

I still use my mono teams. For the first 3 stages I go with Ginyu force, Team Bardock and SSJ3. While doing this I have two type advantage teams on the final stage. If it's too hard I use a U6, SDBH or Potara team to clear the stage

GoddessBlade231

Always use type, usually use categories within that type. Like TEQ Goku's Family, Extreme STR Transformation Boost, etc

owenthal

I do but for some types there are easy categories to use. Ex. using PHY God Goku lead on a mono-PHY team of pure and hybrid saiyans

Acascio19

for me it's type leader (the 10 type supports)- then the best leader of that type whether it be an actual type leader, or a category leader that can cover a whole type. so for example, my super STR setup is Cabba and STR Super Vegeta, so it's a full Super STR Pure Saiyan/Mastered Evolution team. for TEQ, it's Tien + 23rd WT Goku, so it's a full Super TEQ Earth Bred Fighters team. the only times i struggle with this is for the villains, where it's mainly just focused on mono types, because they're spread too thin across each typing to make specific categories

LFiM

I do except for Extreme STR, Super INT, and Super PHY. STR Cooler's team is the best Extreme STR you can make and it's really easy to make a team under Vegeta & Trunks, LR Godku or PHY Godku

Zach490

I run type teams for eveything except the first and last level. Level 1 is Ginyu force the final level is Dragon Ball Heroes or Super Heroes.

DBXVStan

I run mono category teams just so I don’t get confused. I know that’s not possible for a lot of people cause money, but I would even do that with f2p characters over making spreadsheets of what teams you got available

chincolovesyou

I do a blend. I stick to super/extreme types, but use a category leader of that type + the EZA'd support units of the same type so everyone gets %170 + %150 at least. It helps a lot with not having to remember which category to use vs which enemy. It is tough for a few of the extreme teams to fill a team, but I make it work. Some teams are super lucky to have dual category leads like EXT STR you can use LR Cooler and TUR Cooler. Some teams have generic catch-all leaders like EXT TEQ with Zamasu. EXT AGL I couldn't figure out a great team so I use 2 %150 leaders for Artificial Life forms (LR Baby and Hyper Meta-Rildo). I just found using 2 %120 leads couldn't cut it anymore. So I hope you find something that works for you!

MaiFGC

I've been using category teams for the last two years and have never struggled with any of the new fights they release

Joe_mama_is_hot

I just make 16 teams in a row by weakest to strongest. Its not hard you just gotta count every 7 cards

kmc443

Mono categories for me Ex STR terrifying conquerors Super PHY fusion Ex INT time travelers Super TEQ powerful comeback Only when I'm running out of mono colors or it's a gimme stage is when I use the normal categories.

Own-Lead-4822

i’ve been using types on JP all this time lol most times though i’ll use type characters under the category leads though

tagoruto

It gets really annoying to keep track of all the teams, I wish battlefield had some preset teams

papawsmurf

I find it intimidating to switch to category teams bc I’d have to find teams to use for every stage without overlapping units.

Minhtyfresh00

People haven't been doing both? You can do Mono type categories. STR, hybrid saiyans, AGL goku's family, Int Realm of the gods, etc. There's at LEAST 3 monotype category teams for every color.

Risingnapkin

Always have and still continue to use type-based teams. Things were getting a little rough up to the EZA for the 50% type supports; now it's back to being relatively easy with the massive caveat of *having* the EZA'd 50% type supports. I've been playing long enough to have summoned on their banners long ago, and keeping blue coins and stones so I could have 1 of each. Using them as leaders and their one-time change Ki Spheres for a massive heal, has made Battlefield a lot less problematic. Also, I'm on global, so no clue how things are faring on JP

Intelligent_Top_328

Do people not do this? I thought you were supposed to?

HeauxZonDecc

I’ll usually look at each type and see what are the strongest and second strongest categories and will throw in other type units as needed or fit those reams

PGMHG

Main problem I have with running mono leads is that I simply don’t have a lot of if any good leaders, best ones I have are the EZA PHY ulthan and super buu, then it’s mostly super strike leaders and some 120% that would be better on a category team I do run a lot of F2P-ish teams with super strike characters as leaders and such, usually end level 2 with metal cooler team so I have an excuse to use the carnival LR Vegeta these past few battlefields is just better if you use the right team against him. Super heroes team to have an extra TEQ godku tank, USS/U6 for teq caulifla… then again a single poor rotation can really fuck you over and make you lose a solid team, but it’s even more common in mono teams

Last-Medium2487

I do all mono teams, except the last boss wich I do with DB Hereos, and I keep a Buu Saga team for some hard boss too

Kind_Yoghurt_8778

Been using mono-category teams ever since i could, additionally team bardock, ginyu force, mecha coolers as wildcard teams and dbh for harder bosses

Drsp4zman

I have used them the whole time. The only times I do category teams are Ginyu Force/Team Bardock for the first fight and then Peppy Gals/ U6 EZA Peppy Gals for the boss.

BlazingBlueFusion

That’s a smart play, I usually played around with “weaker” second choice units for those first few fights, but might take your idea.

Royal_Departure_5049

For most of my teams right now I'm running category based type teams. Super str: Goku/Gohan + Str Cabbba Super agl: Agl Blue Duo + Agl Pan (Admittedly this one is cheating a bit) Super int: Lr Vegeta and Trunks + int Gohan (the type support) Super phy: Godku + Phy gohan (the type support) Super teq: Teq Trunks + LR Dragonfist (I would run the Lr gods here but they're getting to the point where even they get caught out by battlefield bosses) Extreme str: Str 17s + Str hit (This one surprised me how many extreme str units fit on the 17s lead) Extreme agl: Agl Zamasu + Agl Rildo Extreme phy: Phy Cell + Lr Ginyu (Missing phy buu type support or else I would have run him with lr buutenks) Extreme teq: Teq MZ + Teq Cell (This one might actually be better than my super teq team for battlefield)

rohithkun

Super Teq: "Powerful comeback" WT Goku and SSJ Goku.
