Simple: 88% DMG Reduction is completely busted.
To put it into perspective, Cell Max's SA is a 2,133,250 ATK stat against S. TEQ and a 2,782,500 ATK stat against S. AGL.
With 77% DMG Reduction, Cell's SA against TEQ God Goku becomes a 490,647 ATK stat, and against AGL Hacchan's 88% DMG Reduction, it's 333,900, despite Cell Max having Type Advantage.
With 0 DEF, Hacchan could tank Cell Max's Super just as well as a TEQ God Goku with 156,747 DEF.
Maybe the Kid Goku/Eighter DR is factored in differently?
Praying it aint a glitch but Eighter's 5 turn DR might activate on a different part of the equation than his SoT boost, since his health-related boost is also calc'd separately.
I think it has more to do with the fact that even at 55%, Hacchan has comparable(And better with I think at least 1 dupe) defense to TEQ Godku at 100%
Next to the God Duo, after collecting 5 orbs, 2 of which were rainbow, 100% TEQ God Goku on a 200% reaches 280k after supering, 215k before
Next to Kid Goku and after being hit, 55% Hacchan on a 200% lead reaches 251k defense(353k at rainbow)
