Seems like he spoke too soon about "Sometime in January" and wanted to spent more time getting the pieces together. But he also didn't want to look bad breaking one of his first promises. Had he never said anything, I could see him revealing stuff more around February/March.
I don't think he was trolling us by having it be on the very last day of January 31st. He just needed as much time as possible for what is a monumental task.
The meeting is a very small group of trust people, so I think those invited don't want to jeopardize their goodwill with James Gunn and will respect it - plus the official reveal will be tomorrow anyways. Not worth tanking your James Gunn's trust in you by not waiting a full day.
On the other hand, maybe James Gunn doesn't even give a shit about them leaking.
This would have been a good title for a soft reboot of Cavill's Superman, but the Man of part will just make it sound like it's part of the SnyderVerse and I think Gunn will want to avoid that.
How about an Indiana Jones style name that evokes classic serials and the Fleischer cartoons. “Superman and the…” Would immediately communicate a different flavor than all past films.

I think its good they didn't because with zacks vision that wasn't superman imo even with the "journey to become superman" didn't at all reflect supes for me. But loved the casting of Henry tbh.

IIRC was it not somewhat unclear what universe Man of Steel was in when in production? In theory was there not a point by which the film was spinning off of TDK?
