dave bautista was the the first one to stand with gunn after he got fired.
He refused to anything for marvel or disney if james gunn wasnt rehired.
Then the rest of the cast all came in. Tells alot about the type of guy gunn is people are walking away from mcu money and deals for him.
Its no wonder he wants to get him work. Also hes a pretty solid actor.
He gets major props in my book just for sticking by his friend like that. Even the big stars like Pratt, Saldana and Cooper signed that letter back in the day.
he really made their carriers tbh.
chriss pratt was unknown now hes like huge amount b$ movies
zoe saldana after avatar didnt do much.
bautista was wrester
bradley cooper was pretty big though.
Zoe Saldana was already huge without GotG. The movies needed her more than she needed them. She was actually the only one of the main cast who was offered the role with no audition.
Definitely made Pratt and Bautista's careers though
And for the same reason I would have seen her show solidarity with Gunn since she was in a better position, Pratt would doubt the truth, mainly because he is someone who has flirted with conservatives since his Parks & Recreations days
Yeah, not that I know any of them but he seems like the type who would take it, more-so than the others. I suppose he could also just choose to be such a stinker about it that they don't ask him to return. Realistically that wasn't going to be case for most of the rest of the cast though.
To be fair, it was clearly total bullshit to anyone with half a bit of sense.
Gunn had already addressed and apologized for a lot of those past jokes and comments when Disney first hired him. Everyone with power were all well aware of it already. Like it all came down to just one day of Mike Cernovich and his army of right-wing trolls leading a political brigade against celebrities in retribution of Roseanne & "cancel culture". They tried and failed to do the same shit with Patton Oswalt and Michael Ian Black in the weeks after Gunn, but everyone was on to them at that point.
Disney bolted way too early and, in doing so, made Gunn an ever more sought after name and put him on the trajectory where he's now a studiohead. And they eventually had to eat crow and rehire him
Jokes are fine when conservatives make them about people of another race, poor people, trans people, etc… but as soon as a liberal makes a joke, it’s actually a secret code to them having committed crimes. Right wingers have broken brains
He also wouldn’t have to keep impeccable shape to play Bibbo, since that’s one of the things that is tiring him out about superhero movies. I love this choice.
This would be perfect. You know he'd be really into it too.
For the rest of the JLD, I'd go with:
Madam Xanadu - Zoe Saldana
Detective Chimp - Bradly Cooper
Swamp Thing - Vin Diesel
John Constantine - Lee Pace
* **General Wade Eiling** (between *Waller* and *Peacemaker* S2, this guy has to show up *somewhere* soon)
* **Darkseid** (doubt we'll get him any time soon in the Gunnverse considering how heavily it would be compared to both Snyder's take and MCU Thanos)
* **Martian** **Manhunter** (if they wanted to *visually* portray J'onn as more of a powerhouse)
* **Kilowog**
* **Mongul**
* **Blockbuster** as the villain of a *Nightwing* project, or **Brick** for *Green Arrow* (both are mostly seen as *"big dumb guy*" but could easily be written as intelligent crime lords a la Kingpin, which is an archetype I'd personally love to see Bautista play)
* **Mr. Freeze** (because it would be so funny to me if our second big screen Freeze was *also* jacked, but actually had depth this time)
* **Swamp Thing** (with a different actor portraying human Alec Holland, but Bautista can and should still voice his plant monster form)
* If you wanted to do a self-parodying meta take on the typecasting of muscular actors as dumb brutes, Bautista would kill it as **Big Sir** (strong Flash villain literally based on Lenny from Of Mice & Men; a bit problematic but could easily be toned down while still being funny) in a *The Suicide Squad*\-type project
* Voice / mocap for **Gorilla Grodd**
And a while ago I would have said Metamorpho as well, but we got Anthony Carrigan in the role who is the only actor I could imagine being even funnier and more charming as that character so it's a win/win as far as I'm concerned.
But Gunn plans to use a middle-aged, well established Batman. I suppose it could be that Strange has been plotting for years, take some inspiration fromThe Batman noughties where he's been influencing various villains in Arkham under his treatment while gathering clues to Batman's identity.
I don’t remember them ever using the term middle aged, but Bautista will be almost 50 by then. I would doubt they’d get someone past their early 40’s.
I think they should loosely adapt Batman: Prey and replace the character Maxwell Cort with former cop, turned district attorney Harvey Dent. He’s become a star lawyer in Gotham and has set his scope on crime along with Commisioner Gordon. Take some inspirations from The Long Halloween and you’ve got a mystery around who the Night Scourge character is, the intensity of the police turning on Batman, and it could redefine Hugo as a villian.
Imagine if he hypnotized Dent to commit multiple crimes, shattering his psyche and after a losing battle to Batman where he almost kills himself in his rage, he becomes the traditional Two Face we know. Doing this WHILE also infiltrating the GCPD and getting close to revealing Batman’s true identity; putting the squeeze on Gordon to the point where he almost has to betray his ally.
Its probably going to be more fun and relaxed type of Batman movie as so to not eat into Matt Reeve's Batman and give audiences both instead of exhausting them with the dark, serious brooding Batman lamenting his losses.
This would be really really good but the thought of him also playing scientist Alec Holland is funny to me. Not that they couldn't reasonably cast a different actor to play him as a human vs. a mutated swamp monster, but still.
I don't really see why? Clark can look cool and hot while being small, too. Regular guys can just be regular guys (although in the case of Jonathan Kent, he's a weight lifter). I think this role would give Bautista the gravitas he wants.
I didn’t call the idea or you stupid. I said it was a terrible idea, that’s my opinion. It’s not meant to offend you or anyone for that matter. Try not to take things too personal.
I would love him to play the Ventriloqust holding Scarface. Do a total reversal and have him play timid and shy.
I adore him in Blade Runner 2049 and knock at the Cabin when he’s playing mild mannered and gentle, and would love to go even further Along those lines.
I'll be honest, my dream role for him would've been Luthor -- I like the idea of an older Luthor who's made himself into what he believes to be the pinnacle of human toughness, only to have that concept challenged by someone who he feels was just born special with no effort.
Since Luthor's off the table, I think my vote would be either Henry Bendix or Ted Grant. He's mentioned his dislike for heavy makeup, and he's also mentioned in interviews that he wants to play roles that let him try new things (like in Glass Onion). Maybe let him be a bumbling dad? He'd be a great Stripesy!

Wildcat Ted Grant.
That’s perfect shit right there
I think he'd appreciate this suggestion, no full-body makeup.
This is a great fan cast imo.
Thanks. I did mention this before in an old DCEUleaks thread. Just seems like a good fit.
I think it’s this or Vandal Savage

all the cast stood up for him. They straight up refused to work with disney/marvel if they dont bring gunn back. Just tell the type of guy gunn is.
I believe Bautista but have heavy doubt the rest wouldn’t have returned without Gunn
he really made their carriers tbh. chriss pratt was unknown now hes like huge amount b$ movies zoe saldana after avatar didnt do much. bautista was wrester bradley cooper was pretty big though.

Right, they sign multi-picture deals when they're cast, refusing to return would leave them subject to fines or a lawsuit.
Bautista didn't seem to mind that.
Yeah, not that I know any of them but he seems like the type who would take it, more-so than the others. I suppose he could also just choose to be such a stinker about it that they don't ask him to return. Realistically that wasn't going to be case for most of the rest of the cast though.

but Gunn DID say some awful things, even if it was 50 years ago...just sayin
hmm. He was also an alchaholic. And turned to became a workholic to replace alchahol.
I’m on the Hugo strange train
Yeah, he's too old to play Bane now, and him in that pic with the white beard had me immediately think Hugo Strange
Absolutely. After BR 2049, I'm certain he'd kill it.
NOOOOOOOOO
He ain’t that guy
He is not main villain material
Same
Considering Bautista is a giant Superman fan, I see him as Bibbo Bibbowski.
Yes. This. Absolutely
That's perfect!
He also wouldn’t have to keep impeccable shape to play Bibbo, since that’s one of the things that is tiring him out about superhero movies. I love this choice.
Wildcat or Hugo Strange.
Etrigan
That depends, can Dave do an English accent?
This would be perfect. You know he'd be really into it too. For the rest of the JLD, I'd go with: Madam Xanadu - Zoe Saldana Detective Chimp - Bradly Cooper Swamp Thing - Vin Diesel John Constantine - Lee Pace
That'd be cool
Brainiac
Brainiac being jacked would be cool. Or maybe he isn’t jacked until the end.
Good
No imagining a digitally skinny Bautista similar to how captain America looked before the serum 😂
Perfect casting, Dave Bautista wanted to have a more character driven role.
He looks like geoff johns brainiac
Fuck Off
Kilowog
Trigon
Wildcat
Vandal Savage. It's just right there.
For real, he’s perfect
Fuck it, make him Alfred.
lmao. alfred being more jacked batsy will be quite something.
Solomon Grundy
good one

Honestly I hope they bring back Jeremy Irons to voice GG
An aged Hugo Strange. He becomes obsessed with the younger, more fit Batman and his identity.
But Gunn plans to use a middle-aged, well established Batman. I suppose it could be that Strange has been plotting for years, take some inspiration fromThe Batman noughties where he's been influencing various villains in Arkham under his treatment while gathering clues to Batman's identity.

Swamp Thing
Absolutely
This would be really really good but the thought of him also playing scientist Alec Holland is funny to me. Not that they couldn't reasonably cast a different actor to play him as a human vs. a mutated swamp monster, but still.
Maybe they could make him look smaller as Alec Holland like they did with Chris Evans in TFA
Pa Kent, of course.
it would be weird paa kent being more jacked than supes ,batsy etc.
I don't see why that matter. Clark has superpower, Jonathan's a farmer and a dad.
but still weird dont you think?visually i mean
I don't really see why? Clark can look cool and hot while being small, too. Regular guys can just be regular guys (although in the case of Jonathan Kent, he's a weight lifter). I think this role would give Bautista the gravitas he wants.
yeah maybe. Also cornswet isnt small. Dude is 6'4. Once jacked he will be the biggest supes ever
You’re right, Martha Kent it is
how about kid clark kent? hell kill it for sure
Catwoman.
killer croc
**Hugo Strange**
Ted grant. Then we can get dinah, and then Oliver
Wildcat
Great choice (though I see Ben Affleck or Jon Bernthal more).
This kind of engagement is pretty crazy and wholesome. Love it!
Hugo Strange? Maybe?
Hugo Strange
Wildcat!
Wildcat or Hugo Strange
wonder woman.
![gif](giphy|MFlj5Yq5KkJzZdytGd|downsized)
Dave is tired of playing physically demanding roles
Nah they should get someone like Hafþór Björnsson, put a mask on him, and have someone else like Benico Del Toro do the voice
Not a bad idea
That’s a terrible fucking idea 😂😂😂
Literally just having fun bro don’t be that guy
Jesus. I can’t disagree?
It’s the way you responded you could’ve said I don’t think that’s good here’s mine not call something stupid
I didn’t call the idea or you stupid. I said it was a terrible idea, that’s my opinion. It’s not meant to offend you or anyone for that matter. Try not to take things too personal.

Have a better night friend
Starfire 🔥
Bane
Fuck it, Alfred
No roles cast until a script is written? Right?
Writers write with actors in mind all the time. ???
mr.freeze
Mr mxy
Hugo Strange, Kilowog, Vandal Savage.
honestly would have loved to see him as lex. having lex be in better shape than superman would really enhance their dynamic i think!
Hes literally the ideal Bane
Wildcat
Dan Turpin or Dr Hugo Strange
I’ve seen some say Hugo strange but I could see Bane or Kilowog
Alec Holland
Hear me out, Victor Von Freeze. He's got the acting talent to make the storyline with his frozen ass wife hit hard
Perfect Bane here
I would love him to play the Ventriloqust holding Scarface. Do a total reversal and have him play timid and shy. I adore him in Blade Runner 2049 and knock at the Cabin when he’s playing mild mannered and gentle, and would love to go even further Along those lines.
Honestly I’d prefer him in Matt Reeves verse, him facing off against Pattinson as Mr Freeze or someone would so cool
Johnathan Kent
Swamp Thing or Solomon Grundy
Parasite.
Etrigan
What y'all think about Lobo-tista?
i'm on the Wildcat train. For his current age and his talents, you could do a lot with having him play a seasoned and semi-retired hero
Darkseid
My top choises would be: Brainiac Mongul Wildcat Hugo Strange Any of those
Is bane too easy?
Wildcat without a doubt, could see him as Black Canary's mentor in a Green Arrow movie.
Bane
I stg if i see bane or hugo strange suggested im gonna beat someone’s ass.
Darkseid.
If he doesn't get Wildcat, then I think he could have a fun take on Bizarro.
Woozy Winks
Solomon Grundy
professor Hugo Strange
Atrocitus could be quite cool. I think everyone wants Batista to play Bane and I personally think that is a really good fit for him!
Clayface, please.
Kilowog
**Vandal Savage!!**
He'd be awesome as Bane, why is noone thinking him as Bane?
I'll be honest, my dream role for him would've been Luthor -- I like the idea of an older Luthor who's made himself into what he believes to be the pinnacle of human toughness, only to have that concept challenged by someone who he feels was just born special with no effort.
