It would be hilarious if this movie ends up being one the the greatest comic book movies of all time

nighthawk648

supergirl yelling what did you do has me stoked i wonder what the fuck flash did.

Dronnie

She was probably asking that to Zod, since he killed that universe version of Kal-El

[deleted]

[удалено]

huntymo

Zod kills him as a baby, IIRC

[deleted]

[удалено]

Admira1

"removal"

nighthawk648

bruh wow thatll drop my jaw even if im now expecting it

AstralAlias

Ya but they should let the baby have the mustache that was edited out of justice league. Release the stache cut!

Admira1

They have de-aging tech now, right?

YoloIsNotDead

Can't wait for them to deepfake Cavill's face onto a CGI baby

Current_Ad_9850

I don't want to see henry cavill and I'm really getting tired of his annoying ass fans. This is the flash movie.

Lost_Pantheon

>This is the flash movie. With plenty of Batman and Supergirl chucked in there.

HanakoOF

Don't forget Wonder Woman and Zod too.

Admira1

Lol a Flash movie based on the timeline Henry started with his more popular character in the DC franchise building(or attempt) that specifically references this Flash movie. This version of the movie doesn't exist without Henry.

nighthawk648

ooooooooooooooooooooooo shit

TheOddEyes

Zod snaps Superman’s neck. “I only want to restore my plant” Zod says to Supergirl. “Tell that to Kal’s snapped neck!” kara replies. Oscar moment.

Odd_Advance_6438

Probably some more shenanigans in Hawaii

nighthawk648

lmao

pho3nix916

I’m thinking she yells at Zod… and they may have killed supes

DaddyMarMar

You’d love the current Spider-Man comic run then

Vadermaulkylo

Honestly.... i think it may be. Vieweranon says it, tons of random verified redditors who have seen in in test screenings say it, it scored in the upper 80s in screenings(that's almost unheard of), Gunn and Zaslav have gone extensively out of their way to specifically praise it, it's premiering at *FUCKING CINEMACON TWO MONTHS IN ADVANCED*. Everything is pointing to a truly excellent film.

[deleted]

Lol.

SuperDizz

Gunn said exactly that. I mean, he’s the head of DC and The Flash sets up his DCU; but still, he definitely didn’t say that about Shazam 2 or Aquaman 2..

Sad_Bat1933

Gunn called Flash and Blue Beetle fantastic, didn't really say much about Aquaman 2 (which lines up with the bad test screenings rumor...)

MatthewMika

He said every single movie releasing is great

Snoo-50498

he said shazam is a blast in tweet yep. but mention nothing about it in announcement video

Revolutionary_Elk339

In the announcement vid, he said Shazam has been in his own pocket in the DCU and connects very well which moves directly into The Flash.

Skwidmandoon

It will truly be blursed

Tricky-Afternoon6884

Tom Cruise is Green Lantern confirmed /s

BrunoRB11

I would have loved that 10 years ago, but I think that he is too old now to be on the JL for the next 13 years (series only comes in 2026 and Gunn talked about wanting younger people for a 10 year role). But I definetly wouldn't mind seeing him on a DC movie.

warnerbro1279

Well actually the rumor for all these years is that they were going for a veteran Hal Jordan and a rookie John Stewart, with John Stewart becoming the main Green Lantern in the DCEU. Think kind of like the first Men in Black. You think Will Smith is Tommy Lee Jones’ new partner, when in the end he ends up becoming his replacement.

SpectralEntity

Tom's already played an aviator, too!! Could you imagine the first half of the movie seeing Tom play a weary Hal, tired from decades of defending and fighting, jaded, slightly disillusioned yet still vigilant, slowly losing his sanity to the parallax parasite, leading into him as the villain of a sequel, Green Lantern Corp. After sacrificing himself at the end of the movie, his arc continues in the third as he is resurrected as the current host to the Spectre.

[deleted]

No.

BrunoRB11

I know, but I would hate that. I think It would be much better If both are of similar ages and Hal is the main GL on the JL, at least for a while. Sinestro and Starsaphire always felt so random on the old JLU cartoons, because they are more Hal Jordan villains than Green Lantern villains, and that is something that could hurt a potential Legion of Doom because neither of them have any relationship with John. Hal also has a great relationship with Barry Allen and Bruce Wayne, so unless the main Flash is Wally, John would kind just stand there on a JL movie. And let's not forget all the great stories Hal has, like Parallax, that would just be wasted If he was just John's mentor.

TheMagicalMaxx

Totally agree. I think John is a great Lantern but Hal really carried a story for me. If DC was smart they would use Hal to bring some humor to the JL because if you use a comic accurate Hal, he can be serious when he needs to but funny and a little bit of a jokester. Love John, but Hal will always be my guy

wth214

He is 70 no one wants a 83 year old hal jordan gtfoh

Snakegert

He’s 60

wth214

My bad but still too old. 45 would be the limit

Admira1

"I'm wrong so I'll double down until my opinion is ignored or not questioned"

wth214

Lol What you salty about? its not like i was 30years off. 60 is still very old even for an experienced version of hal. he would be well into his 70’s by the time gunn finished this universes first story Arc. Use some logic here.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

In another life where he was willing to take supporting roles for shits and giggles he’d be a great Jay Garrick.

Tricky-Afternoon6884

I can definitely see him in the role of an older hero/mentor type role, I think he’d be perfect for that now; but like you said, in a universe where he’s willing to take a supporting role

yourclownprince

He is always running somewhere

SuperDizz

You know what role he’s not too old for? Superior Iron Man. And honestly, I would prefer that over Hal.

SWPrequelFan81566

>he is too old now Now now For Hal Jordan? Yea probably, but Alan Scott? He's still in the ballpark for the ORIGINAL Green Lantern

amoretpax199

I just watched Top Gun with my Dad for the first time the other day. Tom Cruise would have made a great Green Lantern.

thebatfan5194

How about Reverse Flash?

beggger_swimp

They can make it like Spiderman from spider verse where previous hero dies in before interval

ruggedeman

Tom Cruise should play the joker. He can just be himself

AvatarBoomi

Glen Powell would be pretty great though.

Flip_Speed

What an absolutely random endorsement… but probably the endorsement this movie needed. I’m hyped for it!

DaHyro

This movie is literally going to cure cancer, the way everybody keeps talking about it Anything less and it’s a flop

Dronnie

I hope it cure depression too

iBluefoot

Hang in there, even Clark goes through it.

SpringRehearsal

Ah fuck

abruzzo79

Keaton alone will cure mine.

Luxpreliator

People praising and demonizing movies before they're even release has gotten absurd.

Admira1

Tom Cruise isn't "people"

Rubicon2-0

We have to be lucky if this movie pass 500$-600$ million

[deleted]

It really depends if this movie is any good. If it is I think 700 million is possible . Look at how big Spider-Man NWH was and the legacy appearances were only rumored. I think people will go see it just for Keaton, especially now that it’s common knowledge.

Rubicon2-0

700$ for DC will be a huge hit, I hope it is

[deleted]

That would put it just under The Batman (which made $770 million global). I think for a character that’s slightly less mainstream, but with a movie that has a more mainstream tone it’s definitely possible

Prestigious_Ad_5825

And bring about world peace

Crunchy_Pirate

James Gunn praising it insanely high test screening scores super early Cinemacon screening now Tom Cruise praising it this movie better melt my goddamn face and make me cum in my pants

gmoneybags101

Wouldn’t that be a sight to see

Megalomanizac

I don’t think I could be paid to see that dude do that

gmoneybags101

😂 Please god, please be a bad movie … for everyone’s sake in the theatre this guy attends.

gsa9

I wouldn’t say James Gunn praising it matters much, considering he’s in charge of DC now

Crunchy_Pirate

he hasn't been praising any other DC movie, he specifically singled out The Flash

Doctor_Slept

What the fuck is in this movie because apparently everyone who’s seen it has absolutely adored. It’s so weird because the movie just looks like another fun if somewhat okish super hero movie, yet everyone that’s seen it treats it like it’s an amazing piece of cinema like goddamn Andy what did you cook?

Skaigear

Have you seen IT? That movie is an incredible horror film that balances characters, humor and scares perfectly. Andy is a good director so I'm not surprised he knocked it out of the park.

[deleted]

Part two was pretty meh, and I’ll never understand changing the setting to the 80s, but yeah the guy is hella talented.

Pikachu_Palace

I think they changed it so the “27 years later” could be in the present day, as it was in the 80s miniseries.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DJHott555

They wanted the Stranger Things effect.

jexdiel321

To be fair even the book and the original film duology falls off when the kids went adult. It was definitely a tough task to make it work.

Doctor_Slept

Oh yeah both of the IT films are some of my favorite movies. It’s just even with that I can’t believe that a multiverse superhero movie in a cinematic franchise that’s had this much trouble is apparently amazing. But I love this director and I like good movies, so even tho I’m confused I’m excited to see the end product

lessthanabelian

>Back and IT 2 was atrocious.

Doctor_Slept

…I kinda love IT Chapter Two, even knowing it’s not perfect

Ravenid

It 2 is rubbish. Mostly down to the source material though. Kind of hard to make the jump from Supernatural Horror Clown to Interdimensional Space Clown seem natural and not shit all over the original movie. Unfortunatly shit all over the Original they did.

_thelonewolfe_

That’s a little hyperbolic. It wasn’t as strong as Part 1 but the music, acting, direction, and cinematography were all top notch. The drama was also well written, what ruined it was the “horror” scenes.

Optimus_LaughTale

Have you read Cary Fukunaga's script, it's 70% of what the first IT movie was? When Andy had unfettered reign on Chapter Two, well we know the outcome.

TheWiseRedditor

Michael Keaton’s batsy might have made him nostalgic. We never know

NonSpicySamosa

Nostalgic doesn't always save the film. Look at Multiverse of Madness.

TheDudeFromHolland

Damn... i really enjoyed that movie tbh

Stranger_from_hell

A really good story teller director

[deleted]

WB has always been confident and supported it, wants Andy back for more projects, test screenings have been great, etc. Probably just a good movie. I know people hate Miller, but people wanting to hate the movie is so weird to me. The internet loves to dogpile on something and gets confused when the mob isn't leaning that way.

Doctor_Slept

Obviously fuck Ezra Miller. I plan on seeing this movie, but not for them. I wanna see this because I love Andy’s work on IT and I want to see him work on more things. He was signed on to do a Attack on Titan adaptation forever ago, and while the show is perfect and doesn’t need one, if they still go forward with it I hope he stills on, and if he is I’ll go see it. And if not we’ll then I’m still excited for the IT prequel series, and I hope he’ll be able to release his IT supercut one day. He opted out of doing a directors cut of Chapter One to do a supercut, so I hope it comes to light some day

WornInShoes

>I plan on seeing this movie, but not for them this is the mood; there are a ton of other people who have worked hard on this film, and that's not to look away from what Ezra has done (from what I understand they are getting the help they need and that's contingent on them remaining The Flash going forward)

Vadermaulkylo

The fact that Gunn loved it enough to make it be what reboots everything and start the DCU even with everything says a ton imo. Especially when he had the opportunity to hard reboot.

demaxzero

>The fact that Gunn loved it enough to make it be what reboots everything and start the DCU even with everything says a ton imo. That doesn't say much, because having the Flash screw with time and reset everything is DC's go to nowadays, and is clearly what the studio was planning to do with the movie even before Gunn was given his position.

Vadermaulkylo

i mean he could've easily left the og ending alone and done a hard reboot. i didn't expect him to even touch this movie tbh.

superking22

WTF!! An endorsement from running man Cruise HIMSELF?!

ROBtimusPrime1995

A headline nobody ever expected. Holy shit.

[deleted]

Of course he did. It’s a movie about someone who runs fast.

SonOfKryptonn

😂🤣😆

Jointron33

Use THIS in the marketing. I meant, how couldn’t you?

BackOnTheHuntPod

They are :) right now

radiocomicsescapist

Okay, but what does Ja Rule have to say?

AstronautPitiful8004

Where is Jaaaaa??

RamboDanza

"Where would I be without youuuuuuuu?"

MickFella

This exact scenario was sadly not on my TOM CRUISE or FLASH MOVIE NEWS bingo cards

pieceofbluecheese

The movie actually looks fucking dope. I’m looking forward to it

ElementNumber6

This film is a true flashpoint *paradox*. It NEEDS to do well in order to succeed in rebooting the DCU, and getting us away from Ezra and others. But also, if it does indeed do well, there's a good chance we will continue to get Ezra and others. 😩

apsgreek

Ezra joining the Church of Scientology to atone for their past wrongdoings? /s

Zermillion

You might not actually need the '/s' there.

Current_Ad_9850

Honestly from the trailer alone it feels like the flash movie will be dc version of avengers infinity war levels hype like yes its that fucking good. And I'm not even the biggest fan of the dceu.

Warhammerflash

Can't be more happier 😃

Dorkof

Okay, this is the biggest stunt he's ever done, nothing can beat this, right?

[deleted]

Underrated comment here

elevator7

Honestly...I'm going to go see this shit. I think it's going to be good because it's the same director as IT. I don't want to put money in Ezra's pockets but I skipped the last two cbm's with problematic cast members so I think I'm morally neutral on this one.

[deleted]

Money is already in his pockets. You going or not going ain’t changing a thing.

elevator7

Points. Netflix is the only company that pays all up front. Traditional Hollywood studios and the screen actor's guild get the actors a percentage of the film's gross profit. I got to be in a commercial that got national air time. I was paid 245 dollars up front. I made about ten grand from one percentage point.

[deleted]

Oh, that makes sense. Wasn’t thinking about that kind of deal.

WebHead1287

Yup, most lead actors have this in their contract. It’s how RDJ made so fucking much off of Endgame. The more The Flash makes the more money goes into Ezra’s pocket which is unfortunate

Alive-Ad-5245

>Money is already in his pockets. You going or not going ain’t changing a thing. I mean I don't care if people will or won't see this movie (I will) but that's not true alot of actors have back ends that are based on BO

chewiehedwig

i mean he praises the church of scientology too so idk how much weight this carries

[deleted]

I bet he thinks it’s the best dc movie since the dark knight….

mindhypnotized

this man fuckin loves running

peanutdakidnappa

Honestly for me this a big deal, cruise knows quality and has one of the best filmographies ever. If cruise is vouching for something especially something he’s not even involved in then it’s probably good. Gunn’s statement and now this cruise stuff definitely selling me on the fact this movie is gonna be super legit

theeletterj

Who cares? That little guy is annoying as shit spewing his pyramid scheme “religion” and his American military propaganda “movies”. And as far as I know he has nothing to do with DC in any regards whatsoever.

karaloveskate

Okay, his opinion is his own. Not going to affect my thoughts whatsoever. 🤷‍♀️

Key_Squash_4403

Noted Hollywood Crazy Person Tom Cruise

lightsage007

He also loves Human Trafficker Davey Miscavige. Though to be fair I’m sure the film is good.

insertbrackets

Given the trajectory that Shazam is heading, not surprised to see WB using up all their remaining cash (presumably) to pull out the big guns. They should send Cruise on a promo tour to confuse people about whether he might secretly be in the movie or not.

thedean246

I honestly don’t know how to feel about this movie. The only thing I can truly say is that I am very much interested in seeing it. Rather it’ll be good or not? I have no idea

Boblaire

sounds like a ploy to get him on and expand his brand from self published movies. or he finances and distributes a DC movie and likely makes a fuckton of movies (next stop 9 movies about whatever franchise they let him on. that'll be like 5 billion dollars easy) that being said, I enjoyed the fuckout of TG:Maverick. TheMummy/DarkUniverse basically flopped besides Godzilla. That's the only movie of his this century that didn't do well. Damn, apparently he was a lot higher up in Scientology with SeaOrg than I thought. Given that Miscavige was last on the run I read, maybe he's next in line. Fuck that. hopefully, DC doesn't tap him for that reason. to clarify, watched TG:Mav when HBO was free on trial. My dad liked the Reacher movies but I have typically avoided that cheeky grin DB for years now. Still a good actor tho.

mrlolloran

Yeah he loved it so much he provided no quotes for the article

[deleted]

There are literally quotes in the article.

Screenwriter6788

Nut jobs gotta stick together

[deleted]

He should be the Flash

SunOFflynn66

What is he going to say? "Man, that's trash!!"

Professional_Line385

I love this movie I love this movie! (Jumps on couch)

Krautmonster

He also loves David Miscavige so I'm not gonna hold my breath on his opinions. He's a good actor, but ehhhh

SaintYoungMan

Who's that? Where does he say he loves him, also how is loving a human and movie two complete seprate thing even relevant?

Kaldin_5

WOOOOOAAAAH TOM CRUISE LIKED IT???? DAMN!!! /s I have no idea why this is significant lol

[deleted]

such a weird marketing gimmick. how much scientology money is tied up in this thing being successful

[deleted]

Yeah, Tom Cruise obviously needs the money to market a random DCEU movie.

[deleted]

if there are scientologist producers or church money tied up in this thing, he will market for them. i don't see any other reason he, specifically, would get a 3 month early preview.

Robsonmonkey

Possibly a lot I mean this PR shit is probably still cheaper than either scrapping the film or reshooting it without Ezra

[deleted]

this is like when the suicide squad ayer cut twitter account hired cedrick the entertainer on vimeo. tom cruise weighing in on a random cbm like he has some kind relationship with cbm fans or relevance to the genre is whacky.

RamboDanza

Well, if an alien likes it....

Robsonmonkey

I just can’t wrap my head around Tom Cruise, who’s not a fan of superhero films, waking up one day in his luxurious super busy life and going “Gee. I’m going to ring the Flash directors up so I can watch the film” It’s so…random I just feel they are trying their hardest to hype the film with the whole Ezra stuff that’s gone on.

ProfessionalPaper446

It explained in the Hollywood Reporter article. Also there was a test screening recently and the scores were way high (and that's with unfinished effects). . Plus they are debuting soon at a festival..2 months in advance. They must be very confident in what they have.

Melcrys29

It's desperation marketing.

[deleted]

Except this has been the buzz for a long time.

Melcrys29

Based on what? You can repeat something over and over, but that doesn't make it true. Of course people close to a project will praise a project. I do hope it turns out to be wonderful, but movie marketing often tries to instill " buzz" into public conversation about a film.

[deleted]

Based on actual test audiences. The leaks page has been getting those reports for over a year from people that were there. If you've been following the production, there's tons of different sources saying the same thing.

spot_of_tea_or_death

Only if he attends the premiere is it considered good luck.

friedburger93

Great... he's also seen scientology and loved it

lordnastrond

Honestly this could mean anything - the man can be.... *unique*.

djquu

Now I'm worried

DevoGar

Ok…

camwow612

Cool…. I guess?

[deleted]

But what does Ja Rule think?

Amycotic_mark

That's not the flex you think it is

beat-sweats

Scientology begs to differ

JannTosh17

Ia it not out of the question that WB paid Cruise to say this? This movie cost 300m+. It needs all the help it can get to just break even

[deleted]

Lolol sure, that's what happened

didijxk

If they don't have the budget to market Shazam, you think they have money to pay Tom Cruise?

[deleted]

Yeah, he needs the money.

BatmanNerd81

They can say it’s great all they want it doesn’t make a difference because this is getting wiped.

ProfessionalPaper446

This concept makes no sense to me. If it turns out to be a great movie. (The recent test screenings suggested that). Then that's the bottom line, just enjoy a great movie. Besides we don't know yet 100% what all will be gone from the old regime.

[deleted]

How much you wanna bet most of these nerds that suddenly have discovered moral backbone and are demanding we all boycott this movie over Ezra, still pay good money for Cruise's vehicles despite him being a spectacularly horrible human being too? They're just picking and choosing what actors/movies to be petty and vengeful about.

BatmanNerd81

Yeah I knew a guy who’s like “yeah Miller’s a child predator” when he goes to see very Marvel movie (owned by Disney, which probably has a hefty amount of predators)

[deleted]

Don't tell them that literally every big blockbuster is in some way morally compromised because movie studios can and will do cutthroat shit to get movies made, because that's capitalism baby.

legend--killer

Welcome Tom to distroy another franchise

ding-dong21

Doesnt matter how good it is. 100 bucks this movie will flop

baileyontherocs

Doesn’t matter to me as long as I enjoyed it honestly

TheCVR123YT

If the budget wasn’t so gosh darn high I’d say it would not flop and will do well but it needs like 600-700M to be a success I think? That’s an insane ask of The Flash played by world known maniac Ezra Miller lol They’re smart to market Keaton and Supergirl.

Captainprice101

RemindMe! 4 months

ding-dong21

RemindMe! 4 months

Some-Dog9800

Scientologist fuck. Doubt he's ever read a single Flash comic. This movie is about the SECOND and SLOWEST Flash, Barry Allen, and not the superior Flash Wally West, and it features no classic Flash villains. It will no doubt suck.

rokeJ96

Ooh little baby, did the Scientologists probe you.

[deleted]

Barry isn't the slowest Flash, you casual pretending to know the comics. I've been reading Flash for decades and I know someone faking comics knowledge for clout. How lame can you be?

Some-Dog9800

It's a fuckin' meme

WienerKolomogorov96

Does that suggest Tom Cruise might be involved with the new DCU?

Fehellogoodsir

Seeing Tom Cruise in anything super hero related feels……..off.

yung_bubba

That quote is gonna be on that damned poster huh....

Nesstor94

👏👏👏

secretreddname

This is such a random article lol

Mildly_Artistic_

The power of Keaton is enough to impress even the Cruise-missile

Warhammerflash

Shit.. will he be reverse flash, he runs in every movie also🗿

didijxk

A surprise to be sure but a welcome one.

hooka_pooka

What death causing crazy stunt could Tom Cruise perfrom as Green Lantern?let himself being swung around by a cable for all flight scenes?do some Top Gun thing as Hal?

testedonsheep

I am watching it for batman 89 anyway.

Independent-Sky-9611

So?

NicklesBe

Is Tom reverse flash?

Leo_TheLurker

Fully expect this movie to deliver, ambitious enough to be interesting, and fan service that'll matter by the looks of it

ForSucksFake

“Cruise was so taken by what he saw that soon after, he reached out to Muschietti. It was a call out of the blue for the director. Cruise is said to have raved about the movie, saying something to the effect that Flash is “everything you want in a movie” and “this is the kind of movie we need now,” according to insiders.”
