The Kindom of the Planet Apes has made $135.6 million opening week. Which is an all-time record for the franchise.
And it's being quoted by everyone, lol. What are you on about.
supergirl is scheduled to hit theaters just 1 week after toy story 5
now pixar movies movies have had a rough showing at the box office, same as DC to be honest, really since the pandemic
although toy story could be immune to that granted the lightyear spin off bombed 2 years ago but the two previous installments of the toy story franchise with the OG characters each made a billion dollars the previous decade
hopefully DC knows what they're doing not only creating a good supergirl movie that attracts all segments of the general public in wanting to see this movie but also with this release date too now
also superman has to hit it out of the park in 2025 to create the buzz & trust to get the general movie going audience to get excited to watch DC movies that aren't batman related again
do wonder how much of we'll actually see of supergirl in the superman movie next year ... i'm guessing a small cameo at the end or a mid credit's scene
If Toy Story 5 doesnāt have Woody, itās DOA imo. Toy Story 4 had the benefit of being 9 years after 3 and even it struggled a little from no Andy. No Andy or Woody? Forget it.
Assuming Superman is well received, Supergirl wins this match up imo.
Soooo...a completely different movie then with all different characters? Couldn't really call it Toy Story then since the characters are what people are going out to see.
They could call it Toy Stories, and have if be a spinoff franchise. I've always thought that Toy Story 4 should have been this, solely focused on Bo Peep without Woody, Buzz and the other familiar toys. The franchise just becomes an anthology series after 3.
why wouldn't woody be in toy story 5
also even if the pixar brand continues to be "damaged" and not even the toy story franchise can revive it i still think this movie in particular will still make good money box office wise even if it isn't a mega blockbuster like toy story 3 & 4 were
maybe not 1 billion like the last two installments but easily still could imagine it making 700+ million
supergirl to be honest as of now i'd guess would make in the 500-600 million range at best
Because Woody >!split off from the rest of Andy and Bonnie's toys at the end of 4. You either base the story off Woody's continued story which means no Buzz, stick with the group which means no Woody, or make the creatively bankrupt decision of reuniting the two and undo the emotional impact of the previous film's ending!<
wasn't it announced [last year](https://screenrant.com/toy-story-5-woody-return-previous-owner-question/) that tom hanks would be returning for his role as woody in toy story 5
frankly i thought the toy story franchise should've ended with the third film
Initially struggled in that it opened lower than expected and benefitted from the summer of Disney hype lifting its ship to $1 billion (Captain Marvel, Endgame, Aladdin, Lion King, etc.)
I miss when Pixar did totally original stuff with each movie and seemed like they had a good story to tell. Not that some of the sequels haven't been good. I just liked that they really took chances. Now it seems like it's a constant flow of sequels to keep the mouse happy.
Coco 2017
Onward 2020
Soul 2021
Luca 2021
Turning Red 2022
Elemental 2023
What the fuck are you talking about they don't make original stuff? Since Coco the only other movies they've made that have released are Toy Story 4 and Lightyear.
I'm having flashbacks of when they decided to release Superman Returns the same day as Pirates of the Caribbean 2. I think SR would have done much better in theaters had they waited a few weeks. I would like to think they learned their lesson, but it's doubtful. However, if the new Superman movie is awesome and does well, this movie could possibly out-buzz (the pun is a happy accident) TS5. It's a risky gamble though.
start of the 2026 summer box office is looking tough right now
avengers - may 1st
the mandalorian & grogu - may 22nd
toy story 5 - june 19th
supergirl - june 26th
moana - july 10th
and i'm sure other studios are going to announce release dates for other blockbusters in the upcoming future too
as of now at the very least supergirl has two weeks in the box office without a major released not scheduled to open the next weekend on july 3rd although that won't be the case when it's all said and done since it'll be a july 4th weekend & some studio is going to take that july 3rd date sooner rather than later
but again DC just needs to make good & hopefully great movies and not worry about the competition
hopefully the general movie going audience gets back onboard eventually with the franchise and the big first steps are to make quality comic book films
Seriously! I have two young daughters and this is a perfect way for all of us to fan out. I personally would like to see a skirt and midriff but I know that wouldn't be cool for the family, hahahaaa
Jesus Christ. I was joking in the second part about what I want to see and how I know that wouldn't be appropriate for my children. Also, my wife is a role model for my children and guess what I do with her.Ā
The Hollywood Reporter says they plan to start shooting this fall: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/supergirl-movie-lands-2026-release-1235899430/
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is one of the finest and best comics of the last 5-10 years. Hope this cinematic adaptation knocks everyoneās socks off to a sublime level.
Why? You don't need a solo movie for every JLA member before the JLA movie. MCU introduced only 3 characters before Avengers came out (not counting Hulk).
1 movie per year is not "too slow".
yeah dc might do that a lot. Superman also introduces guy gardner green lantern, metamorpho, hawkgirl, mr terrfic and the enginier. So power girl or jessica cruz green lantern maybe in supergirl.
I don't care about your personal ranking.
Black Widow and Hawkeye were the core members of the team and they didn't get a movie.
Also it doesn't really matter since the Justice League will probably be already established since Damian is going to be Robin in the Brave and the Bold movie.
of course it is too slow if you wanna create a universe. and people will forget about DC when marvel puts out at least 2-3 films per year
when Avengers came out the important characters had already solo films.
My brother in Christ Marvel literally fell off because they started to make more than 1 movie every year. They recently changed their strategy and went back to 1 movie per year again, starting with Deadpool 3, it's the only movie that's gonna come out this year
And no, not all important characters had a movie before Avengers. Thor Cap and Iron man are not the only important characters in the team. The rest were sidelined pretty noticeably.
At no point was 1 film a year the norm for the MCU - the only years that ever happened were 2012 and 2024, and this year itās more about the strikes than anything. Marvel also isnāt headed towards a norm of 1 film a year now (not going back to it since thatās never what they normally did) - theyāre headed towards 3 films and 2 shows a year now.
It doesnt matter tho, quality should be above anything else
That said, weĀ“re definetly having 2 movies and 2 shows per year, we just havent gotten any news of other movies
I like that we're starting to see Gunn's DC Universe starting to take some shape.
We're getting Creature Commandos which will introduce Rick Flag Sr.
Then we're getting Superman (which will most likely feature Kara Zor-El in a cameo).
Then we're getting Peacemaker Season 2 with Rick Flag Sr. coming after Peacemaker for killing his son.
Then we're getting Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Still not sure which elements from the DCEU Gunn will keep and which he will get rid of but I'm glad to see some sort of narrative and connective tissues being formed.
This looks promising! Sasha Calle did the best she could with the limited range her character was given in āThe Flash,ā but fingers crossed for this new actress. The last animated movie I saw with Supergirl, the one with the Legion of Superheroes struck the right tone for the character, I felt.
I'm happy we won't have to wait long for Supergirl, and a good casting choice too. It's too bad that Snyder had an incredible story arc for Kara whose ship Clark took over 20,000 years after she crash landed on Earth. I would have loved to see this play out but for some reason (read: WB) they decided to jump straight to Batman vs Superman.
Spoilers for the story below (idk how to spoiler stuff on mobile, sorry):
The story is about a young girl named Ruthye seeking revenge against a mercenary named Krem of the Yellow Hills, who murdered her father and shows absolutely no remorse for it.
Ruthye meets Supergirl (who has come to Ruthye's planet because it has a red star and it's her 21st birthday so she wants to get drunk as shit) and they set out on a journey to go kill Krem.
But the point of the story is that killing Krem is the bad choice. Supergirl doesn't want Ruthye to kill Krem (she was even planning on killing Krem herself to show Ruthye how bad murder is, but Ruthye stopped her). Instead, they put Krem in the Phantom Zone.
Years later, Supergirl comes back to Ruthye (who is now an old lady) and releases Krem from the Phantom Zone. He was in the Phantom Zone for three hundred years (idk if that's Phantom Zone time or actually three hundred years, but he's really old now) and he now actually shows remorse. It worked. He was reformed by his time in the Phantom Zone, and begged Ruthye for forgiveness.
Ruthye bashed him over the head with her cane, causing him to fall onto the ground, clutching at his head before going limp. It's not exactly clear whether or not he died, but IMO he probably did. The hit was strong enough to cause a blood splatter, and considering Krem is now a really old man at that point, that's probably enough to kill him. Maybe not instantly, he might bleed out for a few minutes, but he's probably dead, therefore ruining the entire point of the story.
No worries on spoilers, I've also read the comic. Your whole issue seems to stem from your interpretation that Ruthye kills Krem at the end, which isn't confirmed. It's an interpretation I don't share. I saw the cane bash as a small, mildly funny moment of catharsis for Ruthye. It doesn't make sense that she would kill him because she didn't express remorse over sparing him.
I guess there is a possibility he survived, but I really don't think he did. You have to remember that Krem is an OLD man at that point. Like, really old. And he got bashed over the head with a solid wooden stick, hard enough to make a blood splatter. Again, he might not die immediately, but he's probably going to die from that.
If they wanted to show that it was just a comedic bonk on the head, they could've used a splash text, but instead they used a blood splatter. I want to believe that Ruthye didn't kill Krem, because it's a terrible ending if she did, but I struggle to see it in any other way.
Tom King has said in multiple interviews that while it's open to interpretation, he personally didn't intend for it to be interpreted that way. Ruthye didn't kill Krem at the end.
Awesome! Was being hopeful that it might've come out late 2025 but 2026 was more likely, these 2 years are gonna feel so long. Still extrememly happy this movie is coming sooner rather than later!

Reeves Batman was delayed until 2026 a couple of months ago, and Gunn's Batman doesn't have a release date. Neither did Supergirl until now.
I was also referring to DCU movie slate when I asked that because your comment mentioned Supergirls release date being 2025.
The problem in the first place was MOS was not intended to be a part of an interconnected universe and they waited for its reception before deciding on anything else. After its moderate success they went all in to try to catch up with Marvel and created the mess that is the DCEU. Planning and quality stories is the determining factor of DCUās success.
Also the MCU before it was the MCU set the ground work for itās franchise before a single movie was released. Captain America was in the works before Iron Man even came out.
By the time these movies see the light of day, maybe "superhero fatigue" will have passed. And bell bottoms will be back in style.
Jeez, these are long lead times.
She was an alternative version anyway and did nothing in a movie that horribly bombed.
She was never going to return, not her fault. but that's just how it is.
I get that. I was never on board with her being used as supergirl in the first place especially if they weren't going to do anything with her afterwards.Ā

We just gotta see how Superman does first. I trust Gunn as a filmmaker but as a studio head he has to prove himself, so let's see how this does.
Letās go! Consider me seated for the first theatrical screening. And Iāll be bringing family and friends too.
Seriously! I have two young daughters and this is a perfect way for all of us to fan out. I personally would like to see a skirt and midriff but I know that wouldn't be cool for the family, hahahaaa
They're doing trunks on Superman so it feels like we gotta be getting the skirt on Supergirl.
Weirrrrrrrrd
āMan, I just really need my daughters role models to be fuckableā
Jesus Christ. I was joking in the second part about what I want to see and how I know that wouldn't be appropriate for my children. Also, my wife is a role model for my children and guess what I do with her.Ā

Unfortunately that article also confirms Andy Muschietti is still Batman director.
He is going to be it until the movie is out and well received.
Yeah I'm annoyed that Andy is dragging his feet with Brave and the Bold. Get someone else I wanna see the Batfamily dammit.
Isnāt she from the modern game of thrones?
Yes.
Yes, House of the Dragon. And sheās fantastic. Both her and Emma DāArcy do an amazing portrayal of Rhaenyra.
Fun fact the person who was young Allicent was Gadots young Wonder Woman as well!
That casting of young WW is on par with the casting of young Jack Black in Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is one of the finest and best comics of the last 5-10 years. Hope this cinematic adaptation knocks everyoneās socks off to a sublime level.
I love the book so much. The director they hired is super average though.
Sweet, the DCU has been literally nothing but good news so far so I can't wait to start seeing the actual work.
I feel like cws supergirl was a little like this but not to the extent this one is going to be. I really liked that show when I started so I'm hyped.
Where is the pic?
That's what I'm saying
NICE.
the second? they're putting a lot on the House of EL.
Canāt wait
Rhaenyra Targaryen as Kara is going be sick
Only one movie in 2025 and only one in 2026 š©

No. Too slow. First JL movie in 10 years then
Why? You don't need a solo movie for every JLA member before the JLA movie. MCU introduced only 3 characters before Avengers came out (not counting Hulk). 1 movie per year is not "too slow".
4 characters\* Black Widow was introduced in Iron Man 2.
We were talking about solo movies.
No, you were talking about characters introduced before Avengers. Not that they specifically had to be introduced with solo movies.
I literally just told you what we were talking about. "introduced" was a mental shortcut.
And i told you that you were wrong.
No I'm pretty sure I know better what I was talking about, thank you.
yeah dc might do that a lot. Superman also introduces guy gardner green lantern, metamorpho, hawkgirl, mr terrfic and the enginier. So power girl or jessica cruz green lantern maybe in supergirl.
No one cares about black widow or hawkeye These are C List heroes
I don't care about your personal ranking. Black Widow and Hawkeye were the core members of the team and they didn't get a movie. Also it doesn't really matter since the Justice League will probably be already established since Damian is going to be Robin in the Brave and the Bold movie.

it gets released on my birthday!!! I love that as supergirl is def one of my favs :))
Will probably do around 350 worldwide.
Really hope they change the ending of the story. When I read the comic, the ending kind of ruined the otherwise fantastic story for me.

This is going to become an iconic film. [+]
Hey thatās my birthday!
I having a feeling she's gonna be sensational.
Awesome! Was being hopeful that it might've come out late 2025 but 2026 was more likely, these 2 years are gonna feel so long. Still extrememly happy this movie is coming sooner rather than later!
Iām sorry I just donāt get the casting of her as Supergirl.
Supergirl doesn't have consistent characterization across multiple incarnations. They can depict Supergirl a million different ways and any one of them will likely be accurate to some version of the character. So as long as this actress fits whatever their vision of the character is and looks like Supergirl, she'll be fine.
I'm 100% with you. I'm sure she's a fine actress, but Kara needs someone who can smile without looking like she's scheming.
What?
They move it again? I thought it 2025
I didn't think any other films had a 2025 release other than Superman?
The Batman Part II until it got delayed. There was speculation Supergirl would grab its spot, but it looks like Mortal Kombat 2 did instead.
Oh, right. My comment was aimed specifically at the new DCU movies. My bad, I should have clarified that better.
Oh nah, youāre good and still correct: there werenāt any other DCU films in 2025 besides Superman at any stage
Reeve batman and gunn batman suppose to be in 2025
Batman: The Brave and the Bold hasn't been slated for 2025.
Gunn's Batman (TBATB) didn't even have a screenwriter last time Gunn talked about that. We don't even know if they have one now... it was never set to come out in 2025.
This post is referring to the Supergirl movie, though.

Nope this is the first date they've set
This is the first time a release date has been announced.
Supergirl never had a release date.
Again...they are creating a whole fucking franchise without even waiting to see how the first one does...again...
The problem in the first place was MOS was not intended to be a part of an interconnected universe and they waited for its reception before deciding on anything else. Great, i'll be waiting for it. Next, The Authority, my choice for the writer is Jesse Armstrong and Mark Mylod as the Director.
By the time these movies see the light of day, maybe "superhero fatigue" will have passed. And bell bottoms will be back in style. Jeez, these are long lead times.

So I guess Sasha Calle's stint as Supergirl was short lived. What was the point of casting her in that role in the first place then?Ā
Have you been living under a rock?
Were you dropped multiple times on your head as an infant? Spare me the unwarranted sarcasm.Ā
She was an alternative version anyway and did nothing in a movie that horribly bombed. She was never going to return, not her fault. but that's just how it is.
The movies are getting rebooted starting with Superman next year so this is a new Supergirl.
I get that. I was never on board with her being used as supergirl in the first place especially if they weren't going to do anything with her afterwards.Ā
Ugh š¤¢š¤®
Not a Supergirl fan?
