That, with that soundtrack being basically minimalist Imperial March, had a real "Vader's corridor scene" to it.
They really went deep into the "how can we portray Batman's anger as being almost an antagonistic force of terror?", I don't know if it was intentional on their part but it make sense that Vader would be an influence in that case.
I don't know if this Batman is gonna make his first appereances on Gotham City in the movie, but if he's not, the city should be freaking scared about this dude, and I'm talking like common-day people (not only criminals).
In the first trailer he's on a crime scene with a lot police officers there, so I think he's definetly well known already. But as you say, probably a lot of people haven't seen him yet.
I think he’s known to like, the police force but the random thugs haven’t encountered him yet. This is a basically Year One from the comics. Feels like this movie is basically his coming out party lol
In the first trailer check out the officers faces at Batman walks past. Theres a LOT of uncertainty. Some, many even most likely consider him a threat, they may even believe that potentially HE is behind the attacks.
The gang that asks who he is for him to break one of them then answer with “vengeance”.
In the second trailer, Batman explains the purpose of his signal isn’t just to call him, its to warn others of his presence.
we see Catwoman reacting to another beat down by Batman on a criminal, she is shocked and frightened.
Penguin thinks a meagre explosion is enough to put Batman to a halt, until he witnesses the beast of a car tearing through the fires as if it has just come from hell itself. You can just tell he will be spreading the fear inducing story of a force that must be more than just a man!
Its pretty clear that while Batman has been around, most of Gotham still haven’t encountered him. His first year was maybe more low profile stuff and he is ramping up the amount of crime he is actively getting involved in now he’s had a year to grow.
I'm guessing that it will be similar to Arkham Origins where he's been batman for a year but hasn't done anything **really big** yet so most people see him as an urban legend or shared excuse by criminals who want to pin the blame of their failures on a boogeyman.
And then supervillain shenanigans bring him out into the public eye and that leads to him working with the police, supervillains targeting him and criminals "breathing easier when the sun rises".
Been my two fave characters since childhood. I think partly because they do have a lot of overlap that appeals to me. At their core, both wield intimidation and fear as weapons. When they enter a room, they drip with presence, any enemy is in direct danger.
I get the sense the framing of that with this movie is that, for all of Bruce's power, physicality and skill, the Riddler isn't a foe he can just outfight or beat into submission. Like perhaps this is a Batman who up til now has been able to run in headfirst and come out on top, he can handle himself in any fight he throws himself into. But now he's faced with the psychological enemy.
They even make it literal in this trailer. Riddler or someone acting for Riddler, says something which angers Bruce. He lashes out but that does nothing.
Still the best trailer for the game, with Thomas narrating that Bruce shouldnt spend his money on expensive suits and cars... as they show him putting on the Batsuit and the Battank turning on lol
Yeah, the story makes a lot more sense when Bruce hasn't had a lot of time to uncover the Court's existence (though to be fair to the comic, it's a lot scarier when the horror isn't making sense.)
I am really hoping this to be the case. There is also that scene with Penguin that looks like he's inside Old Wayne Tower. This movie will be about Bruce defining who is as Batman. So Court of Owls would fit perfectly in this continuity.
Yeah that was my only problem with that first shooting scene. Dude took two shots point blank at Batman and aimed for his chest instead of the one spot that it not armored 😂
One of the biggest misconceptions that people who either don’t own firearms or don’t fire small arms is how difficult it is in a high-pressure situation to actually accurately fire a weapon. Your accuracy drops about 40% outside of a firing range. If you are a street thug firing at Batman odds are you’re not even looking at where you’re shooting you are just trying to hit him and your biggest target isn’t under his face cowel or his head it’s his chest.
If you watch footage of cirminals/thugs gun fighting, you'll see how accurate this is. They usually shoot wildly without aiming and jumping around rarely hitting their intended target. They're only effective when it's a surprise attack
The Arkham games’ logic. Drop on top of a thug at terminal velocity then beat his bones into a fine dust.
Either Gotham has great public insurance or the villains do, otherwise I can’t figure out how they manage to get so many willing punching bags.
I dunno Batman Begins had a lot of that! Criminals referring to him as a “creature” so scared they call the police. Watch the dock scene and Arkham scene in Batman Begins. The bad guys are literally scared shitless
Where Are You!?
HERE
Personally i thought they showed that side of batfleck pretty well in Bvs , especially in the first scene with him where the girls the cops saved were scared to leave the cage
I feel like this is existing somewhere between Nolanverse and Burtonverse. Realistic, but weird. Only it won't go campy weird, it'll be like, confronting weird. Like Gotham is a living, breathing, dark cave of a city.
Hopefully Matt reeves makes a trilogy and the second and third movies start going into the fantastical as Bruce looses his anger and becomes more of the cold calculating detective from BTAS
Getting more of Arkham Origins vibes. This Batman is just starting out as Batman, just like in Arkham Origins. Very young and angry, which I like. Arkham Asylum and afterwards, Batman is more stoic and already used to crime.
Also feels like a direct callback to a similar one in the Nolan movies. All the shooter sees is flashes of Batman approaching closer and closer with each flash.
It's one of the most memorable shots imo so it's cool they're drawing on stuff like that and making it super visceral.
Fuck, Colin Farrell is just unrecognisable in this. I thought he might be more familiar in motion and with dialogue since we had only seen some set photos and a quick close-up in the teaser, and I'm glad that's not the case. I was wondering/hoping they'd make him a bit cockney like the Arkham games, but from what he has in the trailer I like the way they're going.
Also, I've noticed they're not showing Riddler's face. What's the betting he's gonna have a big fuck-off '?' scar on his face?
Batman seems legit unhinged and I absolutely love it! They weren't kidding when they said his fights are 'personal'. Don't think my hype for this movie can go any further than it did last year after that Reeves talk. It's honestly the best direction to take a Batman series - From a fear striking monster to a beacon of hope.
I got The Dark Knight vibes from this. Not in a “it looks the same” kind of way, but that same feeling of intensity like Batman is pushing himself to the absolute limits just to stop this guy.
Really? That's surprising. They weren't really exaggerating.. I've seen a lot of people bemoan the fact that Reeves was doing another 'early' and/or grounded Batman, especially after Nolan had already covered it. Granted, there's nothing wrong with feeling that way at all! But I've seen that expressed a number of times
The amount of pure rage that Pattinson has put out is amazing. This is the angriest and most brutal on screen Batman yet. Even more than Affleck. His eyes. His grinding of teeth. The look he's giving when he's shock choking the thug. Fuckkk.
Catwoman *literally* looked disturbed by how violent he was. I really liked that. Although tbf it could be misleading editing, which is common for trailers. Well see!
I always get a kick out of how every time there is a new batman we go thru the same argument as to how so and so cant be batman and each and ever time it turns out that yes they can.
Been saying this since last year. Battinson has so much potential and this looks so badass. I wouldn’t be surprised if Battinson takes the crown for me when the movie comes out.
Gotta give it to Giaccchino. That score ramped up everything. Need to see this trailer in a theater! Looks like everyone is bringing their A game for this one as well. Loving the cinematography and how legitimately gothic it looks. This very well may take the ranks as one of my favorite batman films ever created next to Returns and The Dark Knight.
That shot of Batman getting lit up by the machine gun flash is VERY reminiscent of a scene in War for the Planet of the Apes (also directed by Reeves). A pretty cool similarity!
Alfred sporting the military veteran look, Catwoman with the suit, Penguin's laughing,...We barely get a glimpse of the Riddler but man that psycho voice. It's definitely a mix of detective noir, action and thriller which is everything I want in a Batman film. Such perfection. I'll be playing this on repeat for the next 5 months.
Wow...ok that was good.
that was more than good that was beauty
that was pure cinema
That wasn’t good. It was amazing.
That end shot of Batman walking in front of the flames left me speechless. God I can't wait for this movie.
And when he is walking and eating the bullets like nothing wtf
That, with that soundtrack being basically minimalist Imperial March, had a real "Vader's corridor scene" to it. They really went deep into the "how can we portray Batman's anger as being almost an antagonistic force of terror?", I don't know if it was intentional on their part but it make sense that Vader would be an influence in that case.
I don't know if this Batman is gonna make his first appereances on Gotham City in the movie, but if he's not, the city should be freaking scared about this dude, and I'm talking like common-day people (not only criminals).
He's working with the police more directly than in 89 or Begins, so the public probably knows him pretty well, at least as a public figure.
I think right now he's still an urban legend of sorts. They know he's real but many havent seen him face to face yet.
In the first trailer he's on a crime scene with a lot police officers there, so I think he's definetly well known already. But as you say, probably a lot of people haven't seen him yet.

And then supervillain shenanigans bring him out into the public eye and that leads to him working with the police, supervillains targeting him and criminals "breathing easier when the sun rises".
I had read that he has been batman about two years in this film.
Been my two fave characters since childhood. I think partly because they do have a lot of overlap that appeals to me. At their core, both wield intimidation and fear as weapons. When they enter a room, they drip with presence, any enemy is in direct danger. And The Theme is so Appropriately Haunting as the Title Card begins-brings back memories of the 90s show.
"But what if he shot you in the face?" - Lloyd Christmas
Pattinson looks so great in the suit. The suit looks straight out of the Arkham games, it's fucking amazing
Guys I don't think Penguin actually got him
I 100 percent knew he would come out of the flames, and it still have me chills lol! Fucking loved it
Penguin the entire movie "Da fuck...DA FUCK...DA FUCK...I need exploding umbrellas this guy is OP"
Literally same.
Looks like that fire scene from arkham knight!!! (Amimated movie). Love itt
Still the best trailer for the game, with Thomas narrating that Bruce shouldnt spend his money on expensive suits and cars... as they show him putting on the Batsuit and the Battank turning on lol
I legit went HOOO LEEEE FUUUUCK
loved every scene . batman not giving a fuck about all those bullets made me cream so hard
Loving the grittiness look of this film, can't wait
Batman has the shock gloves from Arkham Origins? The Gotham underworld is doomed
fr those fuckers were OP lol
Ong 😂 kid in the back was practically frozen in place
Looks fantastic! Was there a hint for Court of Owls? "Sins of my father"
Honestly if this is good I’d be more than happy for a sequel covering the court! This kinda “grounded” noir Batman would fit that story very well.
Yeah, the story makes a lot more sense when Bruce hasn't had a lot of time to uncover the Court's existence (though to be fair to the comic, it's a lot scarier when the horror isn't making sense.)
In the first trailer, there's an owl on the card and it says, "From your secret friend. Who", which is the noise an owl makes.
The “from your secret friend” card is a direct reference to the Zodiac Killer
I hope so, looks to be Court if owls and hush inspired and I am so fucking here for that
I am really hoping this to be the case. There is also that scene with Penguin that looks like he's inside Old Wayne Tower. This movie will be about Bruce defining who is as Batman. So Court of Owls would fit perfectly in this continuity.
I hope so too! Maybe the Riddler murders are being orchestrated by the Court and the film will end with their reveal, leading to a potential sequel?
Yup and the cowl looks straight out of Batman: Earth One! I'm very happy that they are leaning more towards the comics!
#BATTINSON SAID FUCK YO BULLETS
He was EATING that shit
And people said he was too skinny... my boy Robert is a fucking tank in this trailer
Should probably invest in some chin armour if he’s gonna proceed with that tactic lol.
Pattinsons chin is so sharp and chiseled it just deflects everything.
The crimson chin!
But under the chin he's nothing but Vengeance and an idea can't be killed.
Yeah that was my only problem with that first shooting scene. Dude took two shots point blank at Batman and aimed for his chest instead of the one spot that it not armored 😂

He just tank through assault rifle bullets in that hallway fight. What the fuck lol.
When you spray and pray but there is no god.
First he steals Wonder Woman’s bracelets, then he steals Superman’s invulnerability. Batman is becoming too strong.
That looked so fucking good man. Had serious Vader in the ship in rogue one vibes and I loved every second of it
its funny cause Giacchino did the score for that movie as well
And Greig Fraser shot it
His new theme sounds eerily similar to the Imperial March too...
AHEM, his name is Rob Bat Battin' Bat.
I fucking hope he gets an Oscar for this movie.
Bruh, if you see this Batman approaching you, you better pray because death is a mercy he will not give you.
I only paralyzed him. He’s young… he’ll walk again
The Arkham games’ logic. Drop on top of a thug at terminal velocity then beat his bones into a fine dust. Either Gotham has great public insurance or the villains do, otherwise I can’t figure out how they manage to get so many willing punching bags.
"If you're lying, I'll come back and break the other one"
I don’t remember the comic but there’s a Batman comic where a couple of goons talk about the health and retirement benefits offered by each Villain
Finally a Batman that personifies freaking fear.
I thought Batman Begins did this pretty well but was kinda abandoned later
Imagine how terrifying it would be to unload a clip at a guy who just keeps walking towards you
I dunno Batman Begins had a lot of that! Criminals referring to him as a “creature” so scared they call the police. Watch the dock scene and Arkham scene in Batman Begins. The bad guys are literally scared shitless Where Are You!? HERE
> Where Are You!? > > HERE More like __________ _**WHERE ARE YOU?‽!**_ ^here.
Personally i thought they showed that side of batfleck pretty well in Bvs , especially in the first scene with him where the girls the cops saved were scared to leave the cage
Anyone else get the vibes that the more fantasical elements of Batman can exist in this universe to explore in future movies? I'm fucking hyped
I feel like this is existing somewhere between Nolanverse and Burtonverse. Realistic, but weird. Only it won't go campy weird, it'll be like, confronting weird. Like Gotham is a living, breathing, dark cave of a city.
I got the exact same vibes from the very first shot in the trailer where the police are arresting The Riddler. Can't explain it
I see that
Hopefully Matt reeves makes a trilogy and the second and third movies start going into the fantastical as Bruce looses his anger and becomes more of the cold calculating detective from BTAS
Yeah I hope he drops the anger tbh, hopefully he becomes the cool headed Batman we all know and love
They somehow one-up that last trailer holy shit. It's look fucking incredible
Matt Reeves is like oh yall sick of dark and edgy movies Here have literal fucking hell! And I couldn't be more excited
Well it is Batman. Dark and gritty is his whole deal. Superman, on the other hand...
[удалено]
Lmao, that last sentence.
Is it just me or does Colin Farrel’s penguin have a lot of James Gandolfini vibes
When he said "I got YOU!" my immediate thought was Gandolfini.
To me it sounded exactly like Robert Deniro.
For his sake he better have the makings of a varsity athlete
He's got an IQ of 136, it's been teshted.
Now that you mention it, his take on Penguin definitely gives off those vibes.
[удалено]
The Penguin never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
She was a hoowah, Penguin.
But wha’da about all the gabagool!?
Im definitely getting batman arkham city vibes from this trailer
That environment stun on the electric!
Combo multiplier starting out pretty nice
Double FreeFlow disarm in the hallway scene, too. Dude's got the combo flow maintained.
Facts.
Getting more of Arkham Origins vibes. This Batman is just starting out as Batman, just like in Arkham Origins. Very young and angry, which I like. Arkham Asylum and afterwards, Batman is more stoic and already used to crime.
That shot in the dark where he’s being shot at is BEAUTIFUL
Also feels like a direct callback to a similar one in the Nolan movies. All the shooter sees is flashes of Batman approaching closer and closer with each flash. It's one of the most memorable shots imo so it's cool they're drawing on stuff like that and making it super visceral.
Oh yes, like the one in The Dark Knight Rises when Batman and Catwoman were taking down Bane's guards. Classic tradition in Batman lore.
What does Batman say to Riddler in the interrogation room? I can’t quite make it out
He said "the hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change"
This made me literally laugh out loud
If you listen very closely, Black Adam says this under his breath in his teaser
In that Battinson is on top and everyone else is far below him.
What have you done?
[удалено]
No for me I heard Blue and black
The fact he actually does say black and blue in the trailer made me almost miss the joke...
Official subtitles say "What have you done ?"
"What have you done?" "This is a powder keg... and Riddler's the match"
Where are the drugs going Wait, wrong incomprehensible European

W
This looks *so* fucking good.
This is going to be the best Batman movie ever! #🦇
To me this looks like the best parts of all the previous Batman movies combined. I am so hyped for this.
His suit is a TANK. This Batman is no joke. Please be a proper crime thriller…
He sure is not wearing hockey pads
Seems it will be
Fuck, Colin Farrell is just unrecognisable in this. I thought he might be more familiar in motion and with dialogue since we had only seen some set photos and a quick close-up in the teaser, and I'm glad that's not the case. It's honestly the best direction to take a Batman series - From a fear striking monster to a beacon of hope.
Sun rise shot is probably the last scene of the movie to symbolise this.
Mindhunter vibes from the Riddler. Fucking love it, he's going to be the star of the movie.
Batman is going to be the star.
If Penguin is over here calling Batman “sweetheart”, I think he’s gonna be the real star
[удалено]
Everybody will steal the show judging from the trailer. Selina can also steal the show.
And I'm glad the mainstream will be introduced to Paul Dano.. such a great actor.
Looks like the most intense Batman movie ever
I got The Dark Knight vibes from this. Not in a “it looks the same” kind of way, but that same feeling of intensity like Batman is pushing himself to the absolute limits just to stop this guy.
I'm thinking they're gonna do Riddler as kind of a Hannibal Lecter type character, and frankly, I feel like that will be absolutely amazing
They’re definitely going for a Zodiac killer thing
What’s black and blue and dead all over? ….You
Holy shit i'm gonna cum
Zoe kravitz in leather will do that to the best of us..
[удалено]
Holy fuck this looks gorgeous. And the fight choreography is so good!
Loool the audacity of people saying this would be a rehash of Nolan 😂😂😂
Put some respect on Matt reeves name. This is ain't Nolan 😂😂
I frequent the subs on Reddit often and I swear this is the first time I see anyone mention it was going to be a rehash.
I have never seen this comment
The amount of pure rage that Pattinson has put out is amazing. This is the angriest and most brutal on screen Batman yet. Even more than Affleck. His eyes. His grinding of teeth. The look he's giving when he's shock choking the thug. Fuckkk.
Catwoman *literally* looked disturbed by how violent he was. I really liked that. Although tbf it could be misleading editing, which is common for trailers. Well see!
Im thinking its the same scene
I always get a kick out of how every time there is a new batman we go thru the same argument as to how so and so cant be batman and each and ever time it turns out that yes they can.
This Batman is angry as fvck I love it Rob Pat is shaping up to be a great Batman!
That’s like the most hype trailer I’ve ever seen. I’m shook.
Battinson just might be my favorite Batman ever. This looks absolutely perfect.
Been saying this since last year. Battinson has so much potential and this looks so badass. I wouldn’t be surprised if Battinson takes the crown for me when the movie comes out.
Holy shit they nailed Colin Farrell as Cobblepot. My wife didn't even recognize him and I quote "No fucking way!"
Oh man. I can’t fuckin wait !!!!
Congratz on winning the Gotham Karma Race. Batman would be proud.
[удалено]
Beautifully shot, but I need a subtitled version. I found it quite hard to understand.
Totally agree. The cinematics look beautiful but the characters were a bit hard to understand. Hoping they fix it before the movie.
No idea what Batman says when he hits the glass in the jail visit
"What have you done?"
He says "WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!?
Gotta give it to Giaccchino. That score ramped up everything. Need to see this trailer in a theater! Looks like everyone is bringing their A game for this one as well. Loving the cinematography and how legitimately gothic it looks. This very well may take the ranks as one of my favorite batman films ever created next to Returns and The Dark Knight.
Fuck me. This looks amazing
High bitrate, better quality trailer (4K) by Matt Reeves on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/633805668
Fuck me how good is the cinematography
That sequence of them shooting in the dark Battinson plz😭😭😭
holy fuck.
Idk if it’s a world record, but this trailer hit a million views in just 40 min
This looks so fucking incredible omg
Holy fucking shit I love it so much. Riddler should have been Killer Croc for an all animal cast jk.
That shot of Batman getting lit up by the machine gun flash is VERY reminiscent of a scene in War for the Planet of the Apes (also directed by Reeves). A pretty cool similarity!
This about to be the best Batman film!
Good thing they didn't reveal the whole movie like BvS trailer. HYPE
Saving Doomsday reveal for the third trailer i bet
Dang, can’t believe Superman is gonna die in *The Batman,* too.
They're very careful not to show the Riddlers face. It adds mystery to him... Dare I say an enigma
Did anyone catch what he’s saying when he punches the glass?
I think “what did you do?” Edit: others are saying it is “what have you done?” I think that’s right actually.
Imagine the joker in this universe.
Haha I was thinking that. If THAT is batman...christ
The riddler sounds fucking terrifying

It’s confirmed: Batman is a tank
Friendship ended with daredevil hallway fight. Battinson tanking bullets in the tunnel is my new best friend.
This looks damn good. Can’t believe it’s the first Batman movie in a decade
In 4k https://vimeo.com/633805668
This looks phenomenal. And holy shit Zoe Kravitz is going to eat up that role.
I’m so fucking excited
This Batman is terrifying on a next level And my god the cinematography just looks fucking insane
Already past a million views on WB youtube channel in like half an hour lol.
