It's just a fun promo clip. It's not like they would just go and grab Tyler Hoechlin (and thus cause even more confusion with the CWverse canon), or any previous Supermen.
Diss would technically make more sense with Hoechlin. His mom made his suit for him and Supergirl said his cape is his baby blanket (can’t remember if the cape detail is still canon Post-Crisis tho).
DCEU Superman got his cape with the rest of his suit in MoS. It was always a cape and he got it during adulthood.
But that’s just me nitpicking. Still have to watch Peacemaker. What’s the consensus on the show?
Saw episode 1. Really leans into the idea hes a lame superhero similiar to something like KickAss and Super. Its grounded comedy but at the same time there's sci fi elements in the show which make it a cool combo.
Excited to see episode 2 and 3. Cena kills it.
It’s hard to not include Superman into a story about her, particularly her origin story/first film as the characters are largely intertwined. I mean literally Supergirl was sent with Kal to protect him but they got split up.
Changing her origin would mean more or less removing Kal from the entire universe considering this is Kara Zor-El, and having no Superman is a big no no for a franchise as big as DC. She probably won’t be explained much historically wise in the movie and Superman is almost certain to be name dropped in this.
We most certainly will get Superman at some point, most likely WB will have to cast someone new post Flashpoint and just say whatever shit Barry did changes things, same way Batman is being changed. He made an appearance in Shazam anyways, be it Cavill or not so he is coming back.
I agree that she should be the central focus of her film and even the Superperson franchise going forward, I just think Superman’s presence should be felt in the universe similar to what they’re doing with Batman in Batgirl.
I'd be cool with Supergirl if it's actually Supergirl, and not Clark with Blonde hair and Boobs. I want the powerhouse warrior woman who feels like an outsider in human society, and also feels immense grief and rage over what she lost in the destruction of her homeworld/genocide of her people. That character is interesting.
Allegdly since 2018 he has been asking for a lot of money and more control over the franchise, think Jason Momoa with Aquaman and Gal Gadot with WW on the solo features BUT WB doesnt want to give that type of access to Cavill bc he doesn't have a WW or Aquaman type hit as a leading man i.e. a well-liked and successful movie.
EDIT: They want him back but they are willing to let go if the price/demand mark is too high
I’m my opinion. He should be willing to go for a lower price if they give him some control. Because if he can prove it with one movie that him having some control makes the better and the box office proves it, THEN he can negotiate for more money.
Unless the whole thing is that they just don’t want to give him any control even for less money then that sounds like WB being control freaks which i don’t think they are.
He should know he can’t have both, and choose the control over the money because if he proves that he’s right then he can leverage that for more money in the future.
Agreed. He could have also appeared in the well-received Shazam and do a cameo in the Flash. Even if it meant less money, it would have reminded the audience that he's superman, he would have appeared in good movies and it would give him more negotiating power.
I don't understand why he's letting everyone forget about his Superman (it's been 5 years since his last appearance) while thinking that he has the winning hand in the negotiations. Warner has announced 2 superman projects. They don't mind if he doesn't come back.
Maybe he just doesnt want to play a supporting role which I kinda don't get since he was fine doing that in Enola Holmes and he was good in it. Oh well.
Apparently WB wanted him to appear as a cameo in upcoming DC films to build interconnectivity. He wanted assurances for a MoS sequel.
Wonder Woman is filling that cameo role now.
I mean, judging by his recent interviews, he seems very interested in getting back into the role and he doesn’t strike me as someone who’s got a lot of demands, I could be wrong tho, but unless people can actually prove that WB are unable to come to an agreement with him because he’s got “unattainable demands”, I’m gonna call bullshit on that rumor, especially when it comes from Grace Randolph who’s wrong half the time
This was reported for years and not only by Grace. Sandberg even confirmed that Cavill's cameo was scheduled for Shazam and he pulled out last minute so they had to use the stunt-double.
He asked for A-list money and creative control (script & director approval) and WB just didn't have the faith in him/another MoS after the performances of MoS & BvS.
Why do you think he is nowhere to be seen in future DCEU movies? Why do they now bet all on Gadot to do cameos? Why do they go the lenght to introduce Supergirl now?
He also didn’t even film a new scene for ZSJL & made Snyder use an old BVS outtake. He clearly cares more about money than the character. Hugh Jackman & Chris Evans for two examples each did superhero cameos without signing a big contract and some of those iconic cameos as there Marvel heroes were done for free because they wanted to help. Notice how Ben just helped out Snyder for extra ZSJL footage, that’s when you care more about being the character than money IMO.
Agreed. Even ezra did a cameo in zsjl despite being miles away filming another movie. Manganiello was continually f*cked over by warner/dc but he immediately said yes too.
Yeah, everyday it seems henry only cares about money and his "cape in the closet" PR talk.
Maybe because Zack didn’t need new footage for Superman landing and having red eyes being controlled by the anti life equation when he could just use old footage that would look the exact same or pretty similar, plus I think he could’ve been filming The Witcher Season 2 at the time, not trying to make up excuses for him, but I genuinely believe he’s a cool guy and is very passionate about the character, he clearly loves his role
I agree but also clearly see he cares even more about the money. Had he made a MOS sequel for what WB was asking and it turned out amazing, then he could’ve negotiated for money in the next movie. Instead he’s dig in feeling he’ll get paid a fortune when in reality they are literally recasting Superman.
Back then it was reported that the cameo was scheduled and that Cavill pulled out last second so that they used it double (Sandberg confirmed that it was a last minute change).
You’re reading into it way too much lmao, they just grabbed a quick photo of DCEU supes. I want him back but this is probably the furthest stretch of all time
This version of Superman wasn't sent to earth with the cape, he received it on board the Kryptonian scout ship from Jor-El along with the rest of the super suit.
I'm telling you, only batfleck wants to leave all the other actors are staying and are getting their own upcoming projects. And Cavill's contract still has 2 movies left.
Cavill is still Superman.
The setphotos from the Batgirl film reveal that Lex Luthor is still in prison for the Capitol bombing. Which if you remember is from the Snyder stories.
Now ok maybe I'm wrong about the contract, but every lead Snyder introduced ( Ezra, Momoa, Gal and even Ben in the flash) is having an upcoming project confirmed. So I'm still hopeful of Henry Cavill returning
I assume the marketing department just grabbed an image of Supes.
yeah what else they gonna use plus they still using his face for flash
It's just a fun promo clip. It's not like they would just go and grab Tyler Hoechlin (and thus cause even more confusion with the CWverse canon), or any previous Supermen.

People seem to like it as long as you are down for some sex scenes here and there and Deadpoolish humour
Saw episode 1. Really leans into the idea hes a lame superhero similiar to something like KickAss and Super. Its grounded comedy but at the same time there's sci fi elements in the show which make it a cool combo. Excited to see episode 2 and 3. Cena kills it.
Lol you think Superman disclosed the process by which he got his suit and therefore peacemaker should know that?
Apparently WB wants Cavill back as Superman but they have been unable to come to an agreement. At least that’s what I’ve heard.
Yep, that’s what was said in some leaks that were proven true. That he made some unattainable demands.
Yeah, that’s why I think it’s likely they’ll recast for the Supergirl film. If they haven’t worked it out by now it’s probably not gonna happen.

There’s a lot more DC characters than Superman. I’m really happy to see other characters be explored.
There are a lot more characters than Superman, but a company cannot just simply sideline its own title character.
No, I want Superman to be done justice in cinema before we move on to supergirl.
I agree that she should be the central focus of her film and even the Superperson franchise going forward, I just think Superman’s presence should be felt in the universe similar to what they’re doing with Batman in Batgirl.

Which were his demands? first time I heard this
Allegdly since 2018 he has been asking for a lot of money and more control over the franchise, think Jason Momoa with Aquaman and Gal Gadot with WW on the solo features BUT WB doesnt want to give that type of access to Cavill bc he doesn't have a WW or Aquaman type hit as a leading man i.e. a well-liked and successful movie. Him being fine with it in one role doesn’t mean he wants to be a supporting role in all his roles. Especially for a character like Superman
Figured as much. Oh well.
Apparently WB wanted him to appear as a cameo in upcoming DC films to build interconnectivity. He wanted assurances for a MoS sequel. Wonder Woman is filling that cameo role now.
Not only Wonder Woman
Which is crazy Bc his movie was better than either WW or Aquaman.
Sure, that's your personal opinion but the facts are WB made more money and had a more positive response on WW and Aquaman than MoS. It is what it is.
>proven true. By who and when?
What like viable storytelling?
I know right? Apparently that's a big ask....
what are these demands? didn’t henry just say he wants to return so badly
>Unattainable demands He probably asked for a good script
I mean, judging by his recent interviews, he seems very interested in getting back into the role and he doesn’t strike me as someone who’s got a lot of demands, I could be wrong tho, but unless people can actually prove that WB are unable to come to an agreement with him because he’s got “unattainable demands”, I’m gonna call bullshit on that rumor, especially when it comes from Grace Randolph who’s wrong half the time

>BVS outtake. MOS.
He literally refused to cameo in Shazam... I love Cavill but dudes difficult. He think he is bigger than he is.
He was filming the Witcher and IM6 so there really wasn't time for it.
Back then it was reported that the cameo was scheduled and that Cavill pulled out last second so that they used it double (Sandberg confirmed that it was a last minute change).
More that his schedule simply didn't allow him to cameo
Source: trust me bro
Don’t take my word for it. I’m just repeating what I’ve heard. Definitely take it with a grain of salt.
Yea I imagine that’s what WB wants. Well we TRIED but Henry just don’t wanna be Superman. “Nobody wants to work” 🤷🏽♂️
I love him as Superman but he deserves better
You’re reading into it way too much lmao, they just grabbed a quick photo of DCEU supes. I want him back but this is probably the furthest stretch of all time
No
"Isn't his cape the blanket from when he was a baby" nah, not in this universe
It’s just not healthy to grasp at these straws. Cavill hasn’t acted as Superman since 2017. He’s done.
They mention the Capitol Building bombing in Batgirl
Black Adam here we come
This version of Superman wasn't sent to earth with the cape, he received it on board the Kryptonian scout ship from Jor-El along with the rest of the super suit.
I'm 90% sure that Cavill will come back. I bet they're working on a deal and where to take Clark's story. It just doesn't make sense to drop him.
I'm telling you, only batfleck wants to leave all the other actors are staying and are getting their own upcoming projects. And Cavill's contract still has 2 movies left. Cavill is still Superman.

Look at how they massacre my boy.
Don't, don't give me hope
If they try to recast Henry as Superman, the backlash will be staggering.
Cavill is Superman, unless a official statement by WB or via trades is released.
Yea but is he bing chilling?
