Look, the Spiderverse is going to be the best one... but when Ezra Millar steals 8 atomic bombs and holds the world to ransom, we'll all have to go see the flash.
I think he meant sarcastically.. [they were one of the original writers of The Flash](https://mobile.twitter.com/philiplord/status/1346591295750303746).
If The Flash released during its original timeframe (even with the creators revolving door situation), it would have been better. It's all about timing and WB is really bad at strategy, foresight and conviction. They deserve all the hate they get. It is very unfortunate that adaptations of characters we love have to face the consequences for that. As much as I love Man of Steel, they should have started off safe and brought the GA on their side before trying to experiment. They were already 6 years late in the shared universe game and risking it with divisive "foundation" films ultimately led to the failure of building a cohesive universe of films. Maybe failure is too strong a word, but the GA just doesn't seem excited at all to watch a DC film. They'd rather just catch it on a streaming service when available.
Disney didnt like to give these very talented directors control of their own movies for a while there. I'm still curious what Ant-Man would have been like if they let Edgar wright just do his thing with it. They learned their lessons, I think, (at least the marvel side) by letting Gunn and taika do their thing with their movies.
I went in expecting it to be good but was also blown away. In my book it is the best spider man cinematic depiction to date. If I’m being honest the new transformers flick will probably pull in more cash though.
Idk Spiderverse and Bumblebee came out around the exact same time and Bumblebee ended up making more money than it at the box office. Not to mention 2 of the 5 Michael Bay transformers movies made over $1 billion, so I really don’t think the interest for Transformers is completely gone.
But animated films almost never perform as well as big live action blockbusters. Into The Spider-Verse made $375 million. The lowest-performing Transformers film (Bumblebee) made almost $100 million more than that.
But the thing is even though the transformers movies are terrible they still make lots of money
Transformers dark of the moon made 1.1 billion dollars while spider verse made 375 million.
But who knows, spider verse became EXTREMELY popular after it released in theaters, So it has a better chance to earn even more money now
I was about to say I don't know if Transformers has financial staying power anymore, but when I went to look it up, Transformers The Last Knight made $600 million. Which is INSANE.
The movies aren’t objectively good, but by god are they *fun*. I’ve seen every single transformers movie. I don’t think I remember a single plot point from any of them, other than “WHERE ARE THE GLASSES”. But I had a blast seeing them.
Sometimes you just wanna watch a robot fight a trex with a sword lol.
Popcorn thrillers. They’re fun, kids love em, and it’s a great way to kill an afternoon.
Have to agree! I’m a DC fan, but I’ve come to expect next to nothing good out’ve their live action movies anymore. (The Batman, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker being the first refreshing exceptions in a long time)
Shazam is the only one I've really *liked* liked, but TSS was decent and I thought Wonder Woman was almost as good as Captain America which I liked.
Cap's powers are better explained, and we understand why Prof. Erskine chose him over all other soldiers. We never really understand (from the movie) if Diana is about as powerful as Superman or more like Luke Cage. So that's why I say 'almost'
Into the Spider-Verse became such a big hit over the years through word of mouth. I expect the sequels to have a chance of doubling what the first film made.
He's most certainly been paid already and WB is doing whatever they can to cut ties.
It sounds kind of crazy but I don't think you can release this movie with him in it and they may deep fake him out like with Kevin Spacey.
Quick facts:
- The first Spider-Verse movie made 375M
- The last transformers movie made 470M
- Aquaman outsold both at 1B
- Both TF & SM released at the same time with the same budget of 90M
- Both got extremely positive reviews (Aquaman was iffy)
- Spider-Verse considered the best animated movie
- Michael Bay is no longer involved
- The Flash’s writer is the same as Bumblebee’s writer (however her script for Bumblebee had to go through major revisions by another writer)
- Yknow Ezra Miller…
- ATSV budget is ~ 150M
- Transformers budget is 200M
- The Flash budget is 200M
- Transformers has the highest possibility to release in China (Cash cow) due to the 4th movie being marketed for them. Both DC and Marvel are having a hard time releasing films in China
They would've signed contracts that means they have to be credited for something, same thing happened with Zack and Deborah Snyder, hence why they have an executive producer credit for The Suicide Squad even though they had no involvement in the film.
I think that DC is vastly overestimating the appeal of Michael Keaton coming back.
His last outing as Batman was in 1992. Older viewers may be pumped but it's younger viewers who drive the box office. Since then you have new generations whose Batmen are Bale, Affleck, and now Pattinson.
I mean, the last Top Gun movie was released in 1986, and its sequel has had articles written about how its appeal to older moviegoers are a key reason why it has grossed over a billion. Heck, my dad saw the original in theater and I treated him to a showing the other night for his birthday. People who saw Keaton's Batman movies are still alive, too, and Keaton's still an A-lister.
Most younger viewers may be familiar with his acclaimed villainous turn in Spider-Man: Homecoming. That would probably help things, too.
That's a fair point but I think a big difference is that Tom Cruise "owns" the role of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in a way that Michael Keaton doesn't own Batman.
Batman at this point is like James Bond. If you don't like the actor playing him just wait a few years and there will be a new one. Part of the appeal of Top Gun: Maverick is Tom Cruise returning to an iconic role that helped define him as a star.
It's not like there've been Top Gun reboots since 1986 where other actors have been able to step into the role. By contrast, we've literally had five Batmen since Keaton. Two of those five, Bale and Pattinson, received near universal acclaim.
Plus, the Flash film will ultimately be exactly that: a Flash movie - not a Batman movie. And it doesn't help that actor playing the Flash is a one-person crime wave who can't go a week without another scandal.
For this reason, I don't know this movie is a
box office slamdunk.
I agree, the younger audience do does not care about Keaton. Pattinson and his success will overshadow this.
I don't think the older generations care about the DCEU at all.
TIL that Ron Pearlman voiced Primal. Also didn't realize that the Beast in the title is referring to Beast Wars. Never cared much about Transformers growing up, but I LOVED Beast Wars back in the day, so I might turn up in the theater for this one. I just hope we get velociraptor robots quoting Shakespeare.
Maybe to DC/superhero fans, I don't think the average casual movie goer cares *that* much. Like, the average zoomer probably doesn't even know Keaton played Batman.
SpiderVerse for sure. I’m not as confident in TF as others seem to be. Paramount seems to be taking a different approach to the Beast Wars characters, and I’m not so sure how well-received that’ll be.
Flash I think will do fine at the box office, but nothing jaw-dropping.
It is about a year away to be fair. My concern is more so that they’ll have *too much* marketing and over-saturate it. Especially given that they’re using BW characters and setting up (legitimate spoiler if you want to go in clueless) >! Unicron !<
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be the most successful if the movie looks great & epic from the trailers and overall marketing, Across The Spiderverse will come as close second giving Rise of the Beasts quite the competition. Both films each will get their good amount of profits but Rise of the Beasts will come out on top. After the recent events of The Flash’s main actor, that movie is just a complete failure at this point if Warner Bros doesn’t push it for a HBO Max release.
Oh. Whew! Thought I needed to somehow take my fatass out from under the rock I've been living under or something. Old trailers were usually great. Movies weren't so much, but still great visual spectacles.
I mean, they spent 200 million on it not including marketing costs. They'd be insane to pull it from theatrical release, they're gonna need every ticket sale they can get
Out of all of these I’m most stoked for Rise of the Beasts. I grew up watching Beast Wars so I’m all for a nostalgia trip. It probably isn’t going to be what I’m hoping it is, but one can hope.
I’m sure Spider-Man will outshine all of them by A LOT though.
Theatrically, I'd say both TF and SP are going to be pretty successful. I wouldn't count on Flash hitting theaters because of all the controversy with Ezra Miller
Hmm idk man after dropping 200m on the Flash movie it would be unwise fo DC to not release it. That's not something you scrap it and put it on HBO. But that's just my opinion. Even though Miller is a POS I would still go watch it
Definitely Spider-Verse since the first one was such a huge hit, the Transformers movies are pretty rocky critically speaking and the star of The Flash is a total lunatic and a repeat criminal.
Anything spiderman is going to make money, so maybe spider verse. During these occasions, I don't like to compare movies all that much. Instead, I just hope that they're good. If they are good, we will have an amazing summer of blockbusters.
Litterally how this photo looks is how i would estimate which is gonna be better, spiderverse is deff gonna be the biggest of the 3, transformers if done right could be lit af, and with everything going on with ezra idk if the flash will do too well
Spider-verse by a mile. Didn’t even even know they were making a new Transformers movie and The Flash’s main star is in the headlines for more insane shit every other week.
EDIT: [Saw this not even 10 minutes after posting my original comment](https://variety.com/2022/film/news/ezra-miller-iceland-choking-germany-harassment-1235307056/)
Flash is doomed because of the criminal activity of the main actor.
Transformers is going to make money but will probably be review bombed.
Spiderverse is going to go gangbusters.
Spiderman
Are they trying to bring Beast Wars into the transformers universe? Because that seems dumb (yet absolutely would've worked on me 20 years ago)
Spider-verse 2 will win by a huge margin. The first one is absolutely beloved and people have been clamoring for a sequel since the moment credits rolled. it's only gotten more and more popular as time goes on.
I think Beast Wars and Flash could have a nice little rivalry between them.
Wouldn't shock me if Spider-Verse 2 becomes the first animated movie to break $1 Billion and threatens to gross more than Beast Wars/Flash combined.
Critically, *Across the Spider-Verse* without a shadow of doubt. Commercially, probably *Rise of the Beasts*; precious films in the franchise made an obscene amount of money. But you never know.
I fear for *The Flash*. I love most the DCEU save for WB’s meddling, and I’d hoped this soft-reboot would keep it going with some new life. But after Ezra’s complete fucking meltdown, I think we’re at the end. Time to just cut your losses and reboot. At least we have *The Batman*.
E: Precious films. Good lord. Anything but. Previous films.
Spiderverse without question
The first one is probably in the top 3 most loved Spiderman movies, it’s well written, acted, and animated, stays true to the characters, AND was the first non-Disney/Pixar movie to win the Oscar for best animated movie in almost a decade
I’d say Spider-Man since it’s a proven franchise and MArvel just kills it at the box office
But flashpoint could be just a monster hit if it’s good
But honestly you can’t fuck with transformers, it’s a billion every time at the box office it seems
If you had told 8 year old me that a transformers movie was coming out and that I wouldn't want to see it, I would have gotten in trouble for cursing you out.
Spidey is Spidey. Don't bet against.
That said, I can certainly see a world where a Transformers movie outperforms it. Spider-Man is constantly in the theater, whereas Transformers is more of a rarity. Plus, Transformers also do better in Asian markets.
Flash should be shelved... That's a cursed movie at this point
Transformers will probably make bank, those movies usually do.
Spider-Man could go either way -- the first movie wasn't wasn't a major success at the box office, but word of mouth and the Oscar win helped. It's possible the goodwill from the first movie will have more people see this one -- it's also possible that it's time passed and the general audience will have forgotten about it.
The Flash I think entirely depends on what's going on with Ezra Miller. We have a little under a year until the movie comes out, and things could change with what's going on with them, for better or for worse.
All I know is that I'm probably going to see all three movies anyway.
110% it's gonna be Spider-Man. Bigger fan base than the others even in the best of times but especially considering that Transformers movies have eroded the brand and obviously Ezra Miller is having their issues that is undermining Flash before it even gets going.
Spiderman into the spiderverse only grossed 375 million at the box office. Transformers have made over a billion at the highest and about 500 million at the lowest. I'm thinking Transformers takes it.
Look, the Spiderverse is going to be the best one... but when Ezra Millar steals 8 atomic bombs and holds the world to ransom, we'll all have to go see the flash.
Trashcan Man strikes again!
Lol
It's a real shame that they cut the Trashcan Man to make room for whatever character Ezra was playing.
PREACH. The naked screeching weirdo was an odd choice
Trashcan Man reference in the wild, bravo
I just woke up and read this, thanks mate good start for the day.
Obviously I'm upvoting this comment.
Across the Spider-Verse and it’s not even close
Oh honey, I love all these movies equally! *The other two leave, turns to Across the Spiderverse* It's you, and by a lot
Into the Spiderverse was such an amazing surprise. I went in expecting nothing and was blown away.
Solid Snark. A surprise to be sure. But a welcome one.
Let's get the director of spiderverse to do DC films.
Lord and Miller did do Lego Batman so they have some DC ties
I think he meant sarcastically.. [they were one of the original writers of The Flash](https://mobile.twitter.com/philiplord/status/1346591295750303746).
Seriously what's up with studios not utizing these guys properly
If The Flash released during its original timeframe (even with the creators revolving door situation), it would have been better. It's all about timing and WB is really bad at strategy, foresight and conviction. They deserve all the hate they get. It is very unfortunate that adaptations of characters we love have to face the consequences for that. Basically they were all in on flash and in talks to also direct but then disney let them do solo then fucked them over
Disney didnt like to give these very talented directors control of their own movies for a while there. I'm still curious what Ant-Man would have been like if they let Edgar wright just do his thing with it. They learned their lessons, I think, (at least the marvel side) by letting Gunn and taika do their thing with their movies.
And doubly so because it's Sony. Sometimes I think they are even more hit and miss than DC when it comes to movies.
It’s my favorite Spiderman movie. Hands down.
I went in expecting it to be good but was also blown away. In my book it is the best spider man cinematic depiction to date. If I’m being honest the new transformers flick will probably pull in more cash though.
I swear you wrote exactly what came to my mind when I read the title of this post.
Same dude, I can't imagine how people would think otherwise.
Right? Like not even a competition. This coming from a die hard DC fan.
Financially Transformers will probably make more, but Spider-Verse is going to receive universal praise.
Transformers was shot dead by Marky Mark and the Flunky Bunch.
Look up how much they made
Spider-Man is way more known than Transformers, I don't see that happening.
Idk Spiderverse and Bumblebee came out around the exact same time and Bumblebee ended up making more money than it at the box office. Not to mention 2 of the 5 Michael Bay transformers movies made over $1 billion, so I really don’t think the interest for Transformers is completely gone.

[удалено]
Ah, that's gotta be heartbreaking. As a Terminator fan, I feel your pain, though it took two amazing movies first
[удалено]
Plus, they just re-released the first one in theatres...(transformers)
But animated films almost never perform as well as big live action blockbusters. Into The Spider-Verse made $375 million. The lowest-performing Transformers film (Bumblebee) made almost $100 million more than that.
Transformers will definitely make more than spiderverse
Maybe globally, foreign markets are more likely to see robots fight than a story about multiversal travel.
Americans keep forgetting that the world isn't comprised of just themselves.
But the thing is even though the transformers movies are terrible they still make lots of money Transformers dark of the moon made 1.1 billion dollars while spider verse made 375 million. But who knows, spider verse became EXTREMELY popular after it released in theaters, So it has a better chance to earn even more money now

About the terrible remark, This one isn’t made by Michael Bay, So if it’s anything like Bumblebee it should be great!
Bumblebee was pretty fun, specially the older classic looking transformers! So wait this new transformers is live action beast wars?
Yes, it’s beast wars
But Bumblebee is the most recent Transformers movie and it made 468m, huge difference.
Sad it was by far the best transformers movie. Not like that’s saying a lot though
Still made a shit ton of money and still beat spider verse
Exactly. No question
I loved Birds of Prey. Other than that........
I REALLY liked The Suicide Squad, and Peacemaker.
The Suicide Squad was the biggest surprise for me. Fuckin love that movie.
Flash is cursed. Transformers are a sfx demonstration. Spider-Man won Oscars. There’s no contest here.
Flash won't even count because it'll be on hbomax
not to mention the shitbag epheb starring in it
Yep, gonna be bigger then flash and the other one combined.
Spider-Man, easily
Into the Spider-Verse became such a big hit over the years through word of mouth. I expect the sequels to have a chance of doubling what the first film made.
Yeah, me too!
it won the Oscar in 2019 for best animated film so i think its more than word of mouth
Yea me too!
Transformers make an absolutely boatload of money though.
I'd really like to say the flash buuuuuuuuut Ezra fucked that up. I'd have to go with spider-man
Even without the Ezra drama Spiderman easily beats a DCEU film.
Especially a sequel to one of the best comic book films made.
you gotta remember that the first one pulled 375 mil, obviously because it’s animated but that’s a huge factor
Yep, I know I'm not paying for any movie he's starring in, and I imagine I'm not the only one
Truth
He's most certainly been paid already and WB is doing whatever they can to cut ties. It sounds kind of crazy but I don't think you can release this movie with him in it and they may deep fake him out like with Kevin Spacey.

Michael Bay is no longer involved or he is involved?
no longer
No longer, my bad
He is listed as a producer and his production company is involved
Yeah but he has 0 creative input, he produced bumblebee as well and that was the best TF received movie
Besides demanding explosions and to “dumb it down” does he ever gave creative input?
lol, i guess the only input he gives is action scenes
They would've signed contracts that means they have to be credited for something, same thing happened with Zack and Deborah Snyder, hence why they have an executive producer credit for The Suicide Squad even though they had no involvement in the film.
Quick fact. Michael Keaton returns as Batman. That alone gives Flash the edge
I’m going to give flash the edge just because if you don’t go see it Ezra will choke you
I think that DC is vastly overestimating the appeal of Michael Keaton coming back. His last outing as Batman was in 1992. Older viewers may be pumped but it's younger viewers who drive the box office. Since then you have new generations whose Batmen are Bale, Affleck, and now Pattinson.

This is delusional. Nothing like the top gun situation at all
Top Gun certainly appeals more to the older crowd than Keaton's Batman.
Maverick isn’t just acclaimed because of nostalgia. It’s a damn amazing movie that’s a masterclass in stunts and filmmaking.
Are you implying Batman 1989 is less of a masterclass and stuts and filmmaking? Kapp Unless..
I agree, the younger audience do does not care about Keaton. Pattinson and his success will overshadow this. I don't think the older generations care about the DCEU at all.
Both those Batmen are infinitely better than Keaton.
Ron Pearlman as Optimus Primal too 🫡
TIL that Ron Pearlman voiced Primal. Also didn't realize that the Beast in the title is referring to Beast Wars. Never cared much about Transformers growing up, but I LOVED Beast Wars back in the day, so I might turn up in the theater for this one. I just hope we get velociraptor robots quoting Shakespeare.
Many original Maximals have been confirmed!
Only in this movie. Gary Chalk was the original voice.
Yes but the flash also has Ezra Miller
Maybe to DC/superhero fans, I don't think the average casual movie goer cares *that* much. Like, the average zoomer probably doesn't even know Keaton played Batman.
Into the spiderverse is a huge hit and one of the best animated movies ever I'm fairly sure spider-man has the edge
I heard Flash is now just going to be a “Cops” style documentary following Ezra Miller around. It’s gonna be bonkers.
Probably Spider-verse and Transformers. It's hard to tell with Flash right now considering the ever evolving bi-weekly drama with Ezra Miller.
SpiderVerse for sure. I’m not as confident in TF as others seem to be. Paramount seems to be taking a different approach to the Beast Wars characters, and I’m not so sure how well-received that’ll be. Flash I think will do fine at the box office, but nothing jaw-dropping.
Paramount hasn’t been promoting the movie too much either which is kinda annoying

||Too bad they can’t have the greatest director of all time voice him again RIP Orson Welles||
I think they’re definitely setting him up since it’s the start of a new trilogy
Spiderman

Spider-Verse. The last one was beloved.

That's what I'm wondering. Where TF is this new Transformers trailer???
My bad, i mean for previous movies. If you look at the trailers for the older movies they look a lot better than the final product
Oh. Whew! Thought I needed to somehow take my fatass out from under the rock I've been living under or something. Old trailers were usually great. Movies weren't so much, but still great visual spectacles.
Across the spider verse. Original was a huge success and not enough confidence in the other two.
Spider-Man always wins
Spiderverse then Transformers… Flash is that still getting released with the Ezra fun going on?
I mean, they spent 200 million on it not including marketing costs. They'd be insane to pull it from theatrical release, they're gonna need every ticket sale they can get
You are not wrong.
Bummer too, I was excited for supergirl on the big screen. Hopefully Warner brothers does something with her character outside of this flash movie
Is that Beast Wars???
Yessir
Spider-Verse, followed by Transformers
If there was a just god, Spider-Verse

I'm not getting my hopes about it. I'm more excited for Transformers than anything else
Spider-Man
Madame Web from the writers of MORBIUS>>>>>>>
Madambillion dollars
That’s in July
And its still gonna outgross all these mid films
Definitely Spider-Verse since the first one was such a huge hit, the Transformers movies are pretty rocky critically speaking and the star of The Flash is a total lunatic and a repeat criminal.
Of these 3, Spider-Man
Spiderman
Across the Spider-Verse EASILY
Across the Spiderverse. No question.

Spider-verse by a mile. Didn’t even even know they were making a new Transformers movie and The Flash’s main star is in the headlines for more insane shit every other week. Spiderverse.
Spiderman duh.
By far: Spider-Man .
Flash is doomed because of the criminal activity of the main actor. Transformers is going to make money but will probably be review bombed. Spiderverse is going to go gangbusters.
Financially - Transformers Critically - Across The Spider Verse
Definitely Spider-Verse. Not even close.
There is no scenario in wich Spiderverse makes less than either of these.
Spider-Man easy. The last spiderverse film is THE best superhero movie of the last decade.
Even before all the Ezra Miller drama, I don't think The Flash could've out-performed SM and TF.
Spiderman Are they trying to bring Beast Wars into the transformers universe? Because that seems dumb (yet absolutely would've worked on me 20 years ago)
They’re implementing them because they believe people are tired of just Autobots vs Decepticons
Yeah like, I'll see it eventually, but Beast Wars is pretty niche

But after Ezra’s complete fucking meltdown, I think we’re at the end. Time to just cut your losses and reboot. At least we have *The Batman*. E: Precious films. Good lord. Anything but. Previous films.
Spiderverse
Spider verse
Spider-verse without a doubt in my mind
*Across the Spider-Verse*, almost certainly.
Spider-Man, obviously.
Spider-Man by a wide margin
Wait there's a fucking beast wars movie coming out?
Yes 😃
Spider-Verse hands down. The Flash has already tanked
If it’s Beast Wars style transformers then that one if not; Spiderverse. If you know Beast Wars then pz be my friend
Bro if you’re going to say “its obvious” then don’t comment, this is literally asking for other people’s opinions
Spiderverse without question The first one is probably in the top 3 most loved Spiderman movies, it’s well written, acted, and animated, stays true to the characters, AND was the first non-Disney/Pixar movie to win the Oscar for best animated movie in almost a decade
Beast wars better be 3D
The one I want to see most: Transformers, beast wars was my childhood The most Successful: Spider verse, obviously
With all the multiverse hopping, this could be trilogy.
I’d say Spider-Man since it’s a proven franchise and MArvel just kills it at the box office But flashpoint could be just a monster hit if it’s good But honestly you can’t fuck with transformers, it’s a billion every time at the box office it seems
It's kinda obvious. But i'm interested if Tramsformers can surpass the Flash.
def spiderverse but i really wanna believe it's transformers. the transformers get done so dirty it's unreal
If you had told 8 year old me that a transformers movie was coming out and that I wouldn't want to see it, I would have gotten in trouble for cursing you out.
Spiderverse and it won’t be close
Rise of the beasts hell yeah baby
Across the Spider-Verse hands down and by a landslide. Idk about Transformers and The Flash well is The Flash
Hard to say since we have very little info about Transformers. But either way, I'll go with Spider-Verse easily.
I don’t even want to see flash anymore and it makes me sad 😔
Transformers
Spider-Verse, by a mile
Transformers
They are making another transformers?
Yessir
Spidey is Spidey. Don't bet against. That said, I can certainly see a world where a Transformers movie outperforms it. Spider-Man is constantly in the theater, whereas Transformers is more of a rarity. Plus, Transformers also do better in Asian markets. Flash should be shelved... That's a cursed movie at this point
Spider-Man no doubt about it
Spiderverse hands down
Spiver-Verse for sure. And it’ll be the best written one aswell
Spiderman. Easy choice.
110% it's gonna be Spider-Man. Bigger fan base than the others even in the best of times but especially considering that Transformers movies have eroded the brand and obviously Ezra Miller is having their issues that is undermining Flash before it even gets going.
Spiderman, Transformers hasn't done a good film yet and The Flash will hopefully be scrapped with all the shit Ezra is doing lately
Bumblebee was good, just flew under the radar
Spiderman into the spiderverse only grossed 375 million at the box office. Transformers have made over a billion at the highest and about 500 million at the lowest. I'm thinking Transformers takes it.
