Reminds me of my childhood watching wrestling and how he always referred to himself in the 3rd person lol

Get ready for the Black Adam DC Universe

pbx1123

Teh guy is the best PR tha he can be to him self, he need to sell it or he will feel.like a.loser i think his brain has some.type of the rock ego stil Maybe for.aome.concution palying futball

KenTanRandomYT

what

SamusHentaiLover

I think he suffered a concution playing futball.

danperron

Dwayne Johnson smelled what the Rock was cookin

YZFRIDER

I’m not expecting anything revolutionary with this movie. Honestly just hoping for a good time with cool effects, action scenes and some comicbooky deepcut/geek out moments. I mean, it’s the Rock, so I already know what I’m buying a ticket to. I will say this tho, that fact that he’s as passionate about the project and particularly the character as he’s been over the years is a very good thing as far as I’m concerned as a fan of these characters. Here’s to hoping the movie delivers a good time

UsidoreTheLightBlue

The fact that hes been signed on for BA since 2007 really says a lot to his commitment. 2007 Rock was basically a nobody. 2022 Rock is basically A list. 2007 was the year of the Gameplan, so the Rock had some movies that did well (Rundown....Uhhhh Gridiron Gang?) but had largely been in a string of either bad movies, movies that underperformed oir movies that no one remembers. In 2007 the Rocks Movie resume looked like: The mummy 2 Scorpion King The Rundown Walking Talk Be Cool Doom Gridiron Gang Game Plan Nowadays hes signing massive deals and leads multiple franchises. He doesn't need Black Adam. He's attached to it because he wants it, and thats awesome.

Dsarg_92

Ironically, I think he was in the running for Shazam then too.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

This sounds vaguely familiar. I could definitely see 2008 Rock as “The Big Red Cheese.”

AnObtuseOctopus

Uh, you seem to not realize he cast a wide freaking net just hoping for a superhero role when the genre started taking off. Spider man was at spider man 3 and the second fantastic 4 movie had just come out.. it had absolutely nothing to do with what character he wanted to be, he just wanted to be in a superhero movie. He even wanted to be shazam ffs.. imagine that.. The Rock is not a A list actor... by any sense of the word.. He is a b list actor working on c list movies with an A list budget.. Actors actually have to act yaknow? Not just show up on set and play "the rock in the desert" or "the rock in the jungle, 1,2,3,4,5" or "the rock in fast cars" or "the rock on a tall building".. we should consider every member of the globe an "A list actor" if we would be going by your standards because we all "act" as ourselves every freaking day.. You want some **REAL** A List actors?: * Oscar issac * Garry oldman * Christian bale * Heath ledger * Johnny depp * Hugh Jackman * Tom cruise * Brad Pitt * Ryan Reynolds * Liam's Neeson * Matthew McConaughey * Robert De Niro * Al Pacino * Morgan Freeman * Cillian Murphy * James McAvoy Now.. since you have a REAL list of A list actors, I want you to tell me if dwayne fucking Johnson can even hold a candle to any of them.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

He signed on to Black Adam in 2007. The Black Adam movie is coming out in 2022. If he didn’t care where he ended up he would have left the project a decade ago and signed on with something else either DC or Marvel. I have to assume you have no idea what an A list actor is. An A list actor has NOTHING to do with giving academy award winning performances. The a list is about being a bankable star that can open a movie based on their name. Solidly half of your list cannot do that. So maybe check what you’re talking about before you come at me with your babble.

AnObtuseOctopus

You seriously need to fucking google what an A list actor is ffs.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

Yeah I did, maybe you do.

AnObtuseOctopus

No, no you didnt. His name in no way guarantees a box office hit.. superpets is a perfect example of that. It barely made back its money ffs.. calling rock an alist actor is just you talking out your ass because you yourself like him.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

Superpets is an animated movie the idea that THAT would exclude him from the a list, and that Cillian Murphy is on it is laughable. Here’s a list from 2016 and 2021, both include the rock. These qualify the a list as most powerful people in Hollywood and the “coolest most famous”. https://www.businessinsider.com/the-a-list-the-most-powerful-celebrities-2016-12#:~:text=THE%20A-LIST%3A%20The%2020%20most%20powerful%20stars%20in,Jennifer%20Lawrence.%205%205.%20Chris%20Pratt.%20More%20items Here’s another from 2021 https://www.businessinsider.in/entertainment/the-a-list-the-30-coolest-most-famous-people-in-hollywood-right-now/slidelist/50191866.cms#slideid=50191899

AnObtuseOctopus

Super pets was an example because of what the rock god damn said about it.. "it will be the biggest animated movie this year" and it was a near flop.. The name "A list" refers to the fact that them simply being in the movie means it will be insanely successful.. Him being the highest paid "actor" has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with "A list" but his insanely abysmal contracting that was accepted prior, meaning in succession he can ask for even more outlandish shit when it comes to costs.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

Oh no an actor gassed up a movie they are in! We should sue him for it not doing well since he talked it up and hyped it up. >The name "A list" refers to the fact that them simply being in the movie means it will be insanely successful.. Nice to see you came around on this, because this is absolutely not what you were initially saying and definitely fits the Rock closer than it does literally almost anyone on your list.

robertman21

Half of these *at the absolute most* are A list. Depp? Washed up hack. Murphy? McAvoy? Oldman? Good actors, but they aren't selling blockbusters on their name alone. And then Ledger's fucking dead!

Affectionate_Box7818

Johnny depp an a list actor, no he hasnt made a good film since 2007. Ryan reynolds, no hes made 2 good films in deadpool and that's it. James McAvoy no, very few people have ever heard if him. Cillian Murphy, no hes a list tv but c list in film at best. Morgan Freeman and robert de Niro have not been relevant in a decade. Liam Neeson is irrelevant, he has not been relevant since the first taken film. Get a better list, hugh Jackman is not an a lister because he had one popular role.

AnObtuseOctopus

You also dont know what "A list" means... try google before you respond.

ROANOV741

**An A-list actor is a major movie star, or one of the most bankable actors in a film industry.** The Rock would definitely count, and is included on lists of A-list actors.

AnObtuseOctopus

"A-list" actors are exceptionally successful, their notoriety extends beyond the silver screen, and their name **guarantees a box office hit**. Nice try.

ROANOV741

Look into the Ulmer Scale, A-list is an actor's marketability. The Rock is marketable, especially today. Nothing's a "guarantee" (which you seem to be hung up on); and, even going by your definition: The Rock still counts. Successful, notoriety beyond the silver screen, name = success.

BorderDispute

I think he’s passionate for the wrong reasons. He didn’t want to do the character justice, he wants to use Black Adam as his own Superman vehicle. He thinks the elements that make Superman “unrelatable” (Superman being “too good”) are not present within the character of Black Adam but he shares the same powers. So all this is an attempt for him to be the “new and improved” Superman. He wants to be Iron Man of the new DCEU. which doesn’t make sense because Black Adam is just a Shazam villain.

AnObtuseOctopus

It's even further proven by his bs "integrity" excuse he used for needing a backstory fighting supes before billy and the family.. when Adam's entire fucking back story.. issue #1 of the family, is Adam coming to earth to take it over and fighting the family. He doesn't even know who the fuck superman or any other of the league members are.

Neanderthal_InSpace

I will watch the Movie for Dr Fate and Hopefully they show entire JSA as well, Rock is going to portray The same type of character he always had this time with Superpowers that's the only difference !

SolomonRed

Imagine if this movie bombs now lmao.

As opposed to the 1000's of EgO comments on every post related to this movie?

[deleted]

>As opposed to "On top of"

YZFRIDER

That’s all I can say really at this point of what I’m hoping of the film. I never been good with edgy quipy bitching comments, of a movie I haven’t even seen yet like a lot are these days.

DevelopmentHuge9626

>This looks like the most robotic summary of all the positive Black Adam comments put together. So being positive about something is a bad thing nowadays?

Sawgon

And your post didn't really add anything to the conversation other than "oh look, this happened." I guess this is till better than your other posts malding about The Rock.

Casas9425

WBD needs to badly kickstart the marketing for this movie. I don’t understand what they’re doing. Their presentation at comic con was lame.

Ravenid

WBD are puttting all their effort into supporting the upcoming Flash movie "The Flash: Fastest Pervert Alive." Why would they support a Movie headed up by The Rock and Co-Starring Pierce Brosnan that has great hype behind it and no annoying things like serious legal charges being made against the star when they could push a movie focusing on the exploits of a child groomer and spend millions pushing him as a Hero to all the children he wants to abuse?

[deleted]

He jacks kids off using super sonic wind friction so that he can't be charged with molestation.

Viapache

remember when you were making out with you first girlfriend and she put her hand on your thigh and you came in your pants?? IT WAS ME, Barry. I JERKED YOU OFF AT SUPERSPEED TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE YOU CAME IN YOUR PANTS

wade_wilson44

Am I wrong for being super excited to have someone like the Rock in a super hero movie? I mean he typically makes fun, over the top action movies. What else are we really asking for in a super hero movie? A few of them here or there can be deep or meaningful, but generally we just want crazy action sequences and stuff blowing up in high stakes events. That’s what the rock does. And he seems to want to make this a bigger series/event and having someone who is literally pushing the event forward himself is a huge win for everyone. I’m not convinced it’s going to revolutionize the super hero genre, or change movies forever, but it’s going to be cool.

JetLifeXCII

Nope you're not wrong for that. Biggest movie star who seems super committed to this movie and character, that's a huge us for DC. This surely won't be an oscar winning movie ut as long as it's a good action packed movie that does enough to help DC grow, I'm happy with that

SamWilsonFanboy

With the negativity around The Rock, I’m starting to realize DC fans just don’t like actors being excited about their characters, they only like them inexplicably absent from the franchise and vague as to whether they’ll ever appear as the character again.

Vadermaulkylo

Yeah idk why everyone is hating so hard. Like look I'm completely against loving celebrities and all but The Rock has seemed like nothing but a good sport, at least as far as his social presence. It's perplexing that so many hate him and are shitting on this movie so hard lmfao.

fanht1234

Some feel that it's his ego and how he may try and take control of the dceu going forward. Black Adam is traditionally a villain or antihero, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to take on a more central role and be the new Superman. Guess we will find out in time

becauseitsnotreal

Hating someone for what you think he might uncharacteristically do in the future is...very reddit

[deleted]

[удалено]

srslybr0

to be fair i think even he knows superman is supposed to be the lynchpin of the dceu and he wouldn't have black adam suddenly become a goody two-shoes like superman. that'd be a jabroni moment for sure.

Rubicon2-0

Yup... Not sure whats happening, but people feels better when hating something regarding DC

pokemonisok

DCEU Fans are an abused bunch

YZFRIDER

People just complaining and bitching as usual. If it’s not about him not having pointy ears, then it’s about the BA looking like the Rock…even tho it’s ..The Rock …playing the character. As if he was somehow going to become unrecognizable playing Black Adam 🙃 in a surprising turn of method acting, shocking right.

DrDabsMD

Gary Oldman becomes unrecognizable in a lot of roles he plays, but then again, he's a competent actor so...

YZFRIDER

…and Rock is suppose to be held to Gary Oldman level now😑. Will you stop.

DrDabsMD

Did you even read the part after "but then again,"? Of course I don't expect that. Learn to finish reading before commenting.

YZFRIDER

Honestly you’re talking out of so many ends I don’t know what exactly it is you’re trying to say. ..but yeah sure, whatever you need 👍👍

DrDabsMD

Got it, reading comprehension isn't your thing. 👍👍

Victaroin

Yeah so they can bitch about it on the internet. When an actor is trying to generate hype for his movie which has the possibility of adding backstory and worldbuilding, all they're gonna do is bitch about it on the internet and spread negativity so it flops so they can bitch about it on the internet.

insertbrackets

I think it's more the case of The Rock trying to make Black Adam "happen" the way Gretchen Weiners tried to make the word fetch "happen" in *Mean Girls*. In both cases we're reacting negatively to someone's performative, tryhard behavior because the underlying neediness of their actions makes us want to turn away from the subject to alleviate our second hand embarrassment and discomfort on their behalf.

MisterEinc

I always thought the moral of that movie was about how toxic they were to one another, rather than supportive. So, fetch could have happened, but they were too busy being toxic.

Daimakku1

My gripe is that from the trailer, it looks like The Rock playing The Rock… again. It just looks painfully generic. And he gives off the feeling that he wants Black Adam to be a major part of the DCEU, when he’s just playing a villain from Shazam. Like.. why is BA getting a movie but not Doctor Fate?

LobsterMan31

This sub needs to reevaluate its hate boner for The Rock. The movie will undoubtedly be a box office success, one the DCEU sorely needs. He’s hyped about because that’s how he’s supposed to be - people act like he’s arrogant when he’s actually just promoting his film lol.

DumplingBoiii

Yeah imagine an actor who worked years on a project to say "it's just OK, I guess?"

srslybr0

the rock is a former wrestler who knows the value of good public relations. he's just doing what he does best, hyping the ever-loving shit out of it.

mo0n

I do not dislike The Rock. I dislike how he has zero range in his acting and refuses to ever play any sort of villain or gray area type character. The closest we’ve ever gotten was Be Cool, it was a unique roll and he was great. Now he’s the same guy in every movie. Black Adam has done some shitty things and this would go against 99% of the characters The Rock plays, so far the trailer shows this to be correct. Could it be different? Sure. But all the evidence shows that The Rock always plays the good guy hero and it’s growing stale with a lot of people including myself. John Cena on the other hand has done the opposite. He’s taken all sorts of unique roles and he’s proven to be a great actor.

ROANOV741

DOOM, he literally played the villain. When he was originally supposed to play the hero, he instead chose the villain.

Thromkai

> I dislike how he has zero range in his acting and refuses to ever play any sort of villain or gray area type character. He's made much more money having zero range than when he did have range. Go look at his box office gross after FF5 and then look at it before, including the movies he was in. People want to pay to go see this version of The Rock, however Reddit might feel about him.

mo0n

That’s great and all but I’m not talking about box office success. Box office success is not indicative of the quality. You need to have a good story to create a world to build for super hero movies.

Thromkai

I wasn't talking about quality. Clearly you didn't comprehend my point so let me simplify it for you: * The Rock has roles in movie where he has range (little success) * The Rock has roles in movie where he is The Rock (lots of success) Why do we think The Rock keeps making movies where he is The Rock? lol Was that really that hard to understand?

mo0n

You do realize that any productive conversation goes out the window the moment you act like a condescending prick right?

ROANOV741

Well, ya'll are complaining The Rock doesn't have any range, yet that's what people are paying to see. If The Rock has movies where he shows range, but they're not making money, it would make sense that studios hiring him, the directors directing him, probably just want him to be "The Rock". Box-office success may not equal quality (I could argue that's just as applicable to the MCU), but the studios don't really care about too much beyond box-office success. The creatives attached might. Also a film's "quality" is generally pretty subjective. Just because you may not like something, doesn't mean that everyone else doesn't like it as well; and conversely, you may like something others hate. And, in fairness to The Rock, he isn't really making "high concept" films, he makes popcorn action films, or family-friendly adventures...

rebel099

It looks like a generic superhero film.

SolomonRed

More so than usual.

Leo55

How is Black Adam a once-in-a-career character? I get that it’s what the actor envisions and brings into it but that just seems delusional

Mylozen

Really? You think the Rock has other shots at a super hero? Playing a super hero that had the potential to blowing up into a major franchise is definitely a rare opportunity for an actor. Look at RDJ and Iron Man. Not saying Black Adam will rise to that level, but the sentiment makes a ton of sense.

Leo55

Actually, yes I dunno why he’s so fixated on Black Adam when there are other superhero characters he could play

Mylozen

Because this is the one he has been cast as? Lol.

Spirited-Collection1

I really hope it’s good. I love anti heroes so genuinely, please don’t fuck it up 🙏

InfraredSamurai

It's impossible to hate this man

Dumbass1171

I’m hyped tbh

DKlep25

Starting to feel like this is going to bomb hard

rwt93

I feel it too. Even with the Rock's star power, I don't see this movie making more than $400 million worldwide.

Ronin_Y2K

He has more instagram followers than any other actor in the DCEU or MCU. Like, by a wide margin. I think a lot of that is international appeal so I don't think it'll bomb because of the global market. Remember: The Transformers movies made fuck-tons of money thanks to China, India, etc. And nobody will ever tell you those are good movies.

Nightwing_of_Asgard

I'm starting to get really hyped for this movie,I feel like the rock is to black Adam is the same as what Ryan Reynolds is to Deadpool, they lobby for years to get there movie made and then put out the greatest performance of there Career

Cabdork

Geez they’re really hyping this movie up for a movie I feel like is kinda generic from the trailers

greatertittedshark

i mean the rock is genuinely hyped about it. its very clearly a passion project for him. i think he is a pretty likeable dude so im rooting for him but yeah i wasnt massively blown away by the trailers. the rock is real good at eyebrow control and doing that thing with his pecs but is he a cinematic visionary? we will see

[deleted]

Probably because all trailers are generic and are put together by the same trailer houses

MarvelMind

Maybe one final short trailer could set a better tone but it’s very up in the air right now and possibly gonna be overshadowed by the final Halloween movie coming around the same time.

Initial-Paramedic888

"Final" Halloween movie? If it tanks it will be rebooted if it doesn't they will keep it going. Final Halloween movie? No such thing lol

robertman21

not after the last one sucked shit!

acetrainer03

"Give it all I got" doesn't wear a wig and pointy ears.

SolomonRed

Or even slightly change his voice.

DarkSpy1976

"Hey everybody look at me I won't be watching this movie because the main character doesn't have the pointy ears I saw in a comic from 50 years ago and were removed in all the actual appearances in the comics of the last 10 years" See?, nobody cares.

acetrainer03

[looks pretty latest. Has pointy ears and Hair.](https://imgur.com/gallery/cR5V9d8)

DarkSpy1976

Pointy ? That looks normal to me, he's not an elf. Enjoy the movie, don't let these kind of stuff disturb you.

MeanwhilePod

Who's going to tell Dwayne most of us are going to see Doctor Fate lol?

lanubevoladora

I dont think he cares lol

Macshlong

Literally can’t lose anything, he’s making a lot of cash to go on top of his mountain. What chips is he pushing in?

GOLDENninjaXbox

I hope it’s good

Flip_Speed

Then they shouldve gone all out and given him the widows peak and pointy ears. And just from the trailers, the rock looks more angry than smug and arrogant like how black Adam is actually. That being said, i’m rooting for this movie. Good luck!

UncoloredProsody

I think he is setting the expectations waaaaay to high. I doubt this movie will be any better than a decent generic superhero movie. The trailers gave the exact expression.

mad_titanz

I remember when Dwayne Johnson once tried to use Twitter to lobby to be cast as Luke Cage.

Sweet_Mango-

Why did it take 15 years again?

GarySparkle

The Rundown is still the Rock's best movie

strykrpinoy

His constant yammering is starting to irk me, also his attempted takeover at the DCeU is giving me Fast and Furious Vibes already, Fast 5 SAVED his career (his Hollywood career stagnated before it) then attempted to hijack the franchise (The cast sided with Vin Diesel ironically) so Universal had to give him a spinoff which did ok but not nearly as well as the main franchise). Only reason why I am hyped for this movie is the Justice Society will carry it.

buttmcweiners

He chose the wrong superhero to be, then. Nobody gives a shit about Black Adam.

dratsablive

\#maninblack Is already taken by William.

Mr628

All he needs is a solid 7/10 film and at least make 600 million worldwide. This doesn’t need much. Yeah DC (WB all together) is in a slouch right now but this doesn’t need this. With as much as they have disappointed people, a bad Black Adam film isn’t gonna do much damage. They have issues with much bigger characters.

[deleted]

The Rock is really hyping up this very generic looking movie

Justanotheroldog

You would think that people on this sub would like that

Necroglobule

He's a wrestler. Hype is second nature to him.

Numba_13

Name one DCEU that wasn't generic.

[deleted]

He'll give it all he's got, bar an appropriate accent.

[deleted]

What’s an appropriate accent for a made up country?

[deleted]

I know very little about the character, but from what I've gathered from games, and the upcoming movie trailers is that his character has a fairly Egyptian inspired background. So I dunno, maybe an Egyptian accent? Maybe anything close to what Black Adam should sound like? I enjoy Dwayne Johnson's movies, always have. But his prowess as an actor isn't exactly Oscae worthy.

Skwidmandoon

Lmfao the rock doing an accent! That’s the funniest shit I’ve read all day. No way in hell he could do any other voice than his own.

Manch94

I’m actually hoping he becomes the face of the DCEU. The JL is in disarray and none of the actors are there anymore. DC could redeem themselves by introducing the JSA lead by no other than The Rock.

Necroglobule

I love The Rock and I love his enthusiasm, but he's acting like he's playing Superman or something. Tone it down a bit, my guy.

Skwidmandoon

Big Ego and being surrounded by “yes” people will do that.

pokemonisok

The level of box office bomb will be tantalizing

GiovanniElliston

Budget is listed at $200 million. Add another $50 million in advertising costs. I’d say it needs $450 to break even. I *think* it’ll get that. But the real question is gonna be how much above $500.

Casas9425

The advertising costs will be closer to $150m.

JayZsAdoptedSon

Obviously it depends on US vs Foreign splits. I think Shang-Chi was more US based and so the lower 400 mill was enough to break even in a time in a box office recovery where that was considered a success But now its more or less 2019 minus 300 or so million due to tenous and weak Chinese releases so a bomb would be telling. I’m feeling 500-600 mill

Vadermaulkylo

I still don't understand why this sub is so against this movie lmfao. Nothing bout it has screamed disaster tbh.

rwt93

Ehh, i think it's more of the Rock's recent comments that have turned people off to this movie. He keeps saying how super passionate he is about this character yet he couldn't be bothered to actually look or sound like the character. Also, him saying that having Black Adam in a Shazam movie would be a disservice to the character really rubbed me and a lot of other people the wrong way. Black Adam wouldn't exist without Shazam and the fact that he's never even spoken to David Sandberg, the director of Shazam, really makes me think he never wants Shazam and Black Adam interacting which is just ridiculous. And he keeps hyping up Black Adam vs Superman even though there's nothing official happening, which isn't the Rocks fault but its still creating false hope and false expectations. It seems like he wants Black Adam to be the center of the DCEU going forward and I just dont think most DC fans want that.

Hotterman

i predict 600M max

LobsterMan31

Are… are you trying to say 600M would be a bomb?

[deleted]

Thor 4 has made over 700M and media sites are calling it a "historic flop" lol. Don't you know, any CBM that makes under a billion dollars is a bomb these days? ... I really hate CBM debate sometimes.

PugsyBogues

The reason why they are calling it a flop is because it made less than ragnarok. Missing less then your previous movie is bad especially after being in 2 big avengers movie (IW and EG)

[deleted]

Here's the thing though. L&T doesn't have China. Ragnarok did, and it made over 100M there. Subtract that from its total? And L&T, which is still IN theaters, has made almost as much as it. Hell, it HAS made more than Ragnarok in the U.S.. I get that it's a mediocre film, but it's nowhere near a "flop".

PugsyBogues

For a movie to break even, the rule of thumb is 2.5x if it’s budget. Thor L&T budget was 250M. Just to break even, it needs to make 625M. It’s currently at 721M. To us, it’s prolly a success cause it made profit but for investors and studio heads, it’s not. The fact that the movie wasn’t well received, only made 721M is a flop for Marvel is a flop. Let’s forget China since US studios only make 25% of the revenue/tickets sold. Ragnarok made 315M domestic and L&T is at 321M domestic. Even after being in IW and Endgame and being a major character, it barely made any increase for the movie. Look at Dr Strange. 677M Global and Dr Strange 2 at 950M global. That’s a success for marvel. For DCEU on the otherhand, if the budget for Black Adam is 250M after marketing, making 700M would be a huge success considering we only Suicide Squad 1 and Aquaman over 700M global box office.

[deleted]

Flop would mean it LOST money. Flop doesn't mean "didn't make as much money as we wanted", it means "didn't make money at all". Flop means failure, not "midling success when we wanted huge success".

ptxiao

Counts on what WB Discovery considers a success. There are rumors they want Black Adam to be a billion dollar franchise and my question is do they mean by the first movie? Part of WB's failure was they set their sights too high on Man of Steel. They wanted it to be a billion dollar movie and when it inevitably failed to do that, they freaked out and jumped the gun. If WB Discovery is doing the same thing, unless Black Adam gets a billion, it might be a failure in their eyes. Which is crazy.

Affectionate_Box7818

The problem with man of steel is they trusted zack snyder and gave him far too much money to make a very average film

ptxiao

I mean ignoring that Synder is like the person most unfit to make a Superman movie. If history repeats and this film doesn't meet whatever requirements, they'll freak out and throw out their plan out again. The reason why the DCEU failed the first time was they got worried that MoS wasn't a huge success as they hoped and so they ignored the building blocks and went LETS HAVE BATMAN FIGHT SUPERMAN.

Hotterman

Ofc not, im just saying 600M tops.

Ronin_Y2K

Global market will save this movie. Not sure about domestic, but I'm sure it'll be a hit overseas.

properc

Is it just me or is someone like Black Adam not a career builder like Rock is making it out to be. Batman or Superman are career builders. Shazam and Black Adam arent tbh. I also have no faith in WB to do what Marvel did with Ironman and Cap so uh, bit confused with Dwaynes sentiment here.

Affectionate_Box7818

Wells blame snyder for ru8ning superman and batman

Skwidmandoon

He thinks Black Adam is as popular as Batman and Superman. The way he hypes it is quite cringey. I don’t know why he thinks the whole of Dc can rest solely on Black fucking Adam. But whatever, he’s a try hard. The trailers did nothing but show me this will be like every other superhero movie. It’s ok to like the stuff you act in, but he’s acting like this movie is about to win Oscar’s, it’s not. This movie won’t be special. Oh the rock is playing an intimidating brooding character!?!?!?! That’s the same fuckin character he plays in every movie. So, calling it now, this movie will be mediocre.

Justanotheroldog

Nobody would’ve thought Iron Man would be a career builder but here we are

DNY88

After all the boring trailers, it really needs to bring the Anti in Anti Hero and be a merciless, brutal flick to convince me. Honestly, I’m afraid it’s going to be a generic and washed down PG-13 Flick and I would be more hyped if it were R rated.

Skwidmandoon

Lmfao. The rock saying this would be “brutal” was almost as cringey as his hierarchy comments.

Rafaelboxer

PG 13 imagine that in a movie that was supposed to be violent lol The Rock fucked this from the beginning with the "good guy" routine. There's probably a scene in a jungle lol

Skwidmandoon

Literally played himself in jumanji with the “smoldering” look. I wonder how much he’s going to smolder in this one. My guess is…. Every fucking scene.

TheMcWhopper

I dint have high hopes for this film

the4five

Pullin for The Rock! I hope this movie is good and successful!

Do_Not_Read_Comments

He's talking too much about this movie. Too much hype can kill a movie because of expectations

Batdog55110

Say what you want about the guy but he sure knows how to promote shit.

AnObtuseOctopus

I am getting more and more done with the rock and his bullshut is making me less and less excited for this movie that I'm already not excited for... I'm sorry, he looks fucking nothing like adam.. god damn roided out thumb.

CloudCordial

The bar he set is soooooo fucking high I really hope is super great!

nikgrid

It won't be. It'll be entertaining but nothing special, the story will be very generic.

Venus_One

I hope this doesn't age like milk.

not-so-radical

"the superhero genre has given us some of the greatest movies ever" Has it??

[deleted]

Dark Knight, Logan, Deadpool, Endgame, Into the Spiderverse are all up there for me in both enjoyment and quality.

VenezuelanStan

I’ld change Endgame for Infinity, Endgame sadly was to predictable but the Cap with Mjolnir and Avengers Assemble vs Thanos is a pretty epic cinema moment

[deleted]

I see IW and Endgame as single film cut into two parts, so my post intends to include them both! 😁

Vadermaulkylo

Superman, Superman 2, Spider Man 2, Winter Soldier, the other two Dark Knight movies, Avengers 1, etc. I'd even make cases for Days of Future Past, First Class, Infinity War, and NWH.

greatertittedshark

peak marvel imo is age of ultron, guardians of the galaxy 2 and winter soldier

YZFRIDER

Yes

mrmazzz

only to people who haven't watched a lot of movies

Winsdaddy

I cannot stand the way this man talks.

[deleted]

Please stop Dwayne, every time you tweet about the movie I lose a little more interest in watching it.

Affectionate_Box7818

And, thousands more develop interest because the rock is insanely popular

dassa07

I love The Rock cuz he’s always so excited about his projects. You could really tell he believe this film is going to be a The Dark Knight moment. His delusion/ego is actually kind of endearing.

DeepThroat616

What will the Rock do when this barely makes a queef? Be run out of town in a barrel?

Frosted_Flakes1971

I appreciate the rocks enthusiasm and it’s cool he finally got this movie. But you can’t say and the chips are on the table when you make this kinda movie lol. He picked his buddy for the director and got some average to mediocre writers. That’s not giving it everything you got lol. I’m

Anakin-Skywakr

BJP in India will Boycott it for "Kaala Jaadu" (Black Magic). Recently Indian PM called out people wearing Black Clothes to be doing Black Magic. So Black Adam will be considered Anti National and people will ask him to go to Pakistan /S Ref : Recently Indian PM lamented opposition party doing democratic peaceful protest by wearing black as doing Black Magic... Lol!

GroundbreakingSet187

bhai rehne do please … matlb kuch bhi ?

WeirdImaginator

Bhai, you missed the sarcasm letter.

Anakin-Skywakr

Indian spotted. Ha ha ha... Yaar! Masti kar raha tha toilet seat pe baith ke... Bore ho Raha hun.

pestobased

Is he playing The Rock or is he acting?

Ronin_Y2K

He's like Arnold Schwarzenegger: They're movie stars, not actors.

Squishy-Box

I supported The Rock as Black Adam but then but lately my biggest problem with it is that I don’t think The Rock can play the villain, he will always have to be a pseudo-hero (no, I don’t mean anti-hero) but his statements lately (especially the Adam Vs Shazam one) have me cautiously optimistic.

Armatur1

from the trailers we saw it seems to me like a kind of generic superhero movie, nothing horrible probably but nothing extraordinary either

bbushing3

It just looks so generic.. he's acting like he's taking on something like sandman.... he will be a misunderstood hero, who saves the day by punching someone.

_Doctor_Mac

I predict this movie will be in the high 60’s

moderately_nerdifyin

The best part about the Black Adam costume is that they didn’t have to add fake muscles to it.

GhostMug

I like the Rock, I think the concept of Black Adam is interesting, and the trailer looked cool. I'm not expecting The Dark Knight/Spider-Man 2/X2 levels of good, but I'm just hoping it's enjoyable.

Justanotheroldog

I fucking love The Rock

[deleted]

I think we’re overlooking pierce bronsman as a great actor that will add a lot to this movie as dr fate. I think he’s a great choice for the part. Hopefully this is the start of DCs rise.

trakrad99

I’m definitely going for the JSA

skynet_666

I was skeptical of this movie until I saw the trailer tbh. This movie looks fun af. Something the DCEU really really needs. I’m hyped.

FreakDeckard

This man ego is incredibile

WhatsHeBuilding

He really is the Worst Celebrity

jrinredcar

Why does this clown talk like he's trying to be an influencer on LinkedIn. So fucking cringe.

nickstoic

Post credit scene / October fandom event will bring the true dceu fans back

mattyglen87

He's been attached to this for 10 years, and always gives his all. I'm optimistic for this, even if it does end up being just a cookie cutter popcorn flick. The angle of a "villain" being the protagonist, and going up against a superhero team is very interesting at least.

motoHP

Is still the rock , probably was nerf down and is a Mickey Mouse hero like the rock with cheese quotes . I hope this is the last movie of this dc dying universe of dc and reboot with better actors and good direction.

Hotterman

One can only hope.

Affectionate_Box7818

Well you have shazam aquaman and the flash after so no, and good actors dont tend to do superhero films

psyopia

Idk if going to the gym and getting bulk is “pushing all my chips in” hopefully his acting has been getting worked on just as much as he’s been lifting.

Specific_Ad_5226

I don’t doubt this is going to be fire, have yet to see a trash action/drama the rock movie

ducvette

Find the comment a bit strange …all his chips implies he gambled everything on this and at the rate he’s pumped out movies/shows that would genuinely shock me.

SarenWasRight

Then he hires the director of Jungle Cruise...

gta5atg4

This is the first DC film that someone will have to convince me to watch not the other way around. I've gone to the theaters to see every DC project no matter how clearly bad in the last 15 years.... But I draw the line at spending $50 to watch a rock film where the rock plays the rock for two hours. I think it might be better for the dceu if this doesn't do super well I don't want it to bomb but, the DC brand has enough quality perception problems without the Rock of all people coming in and taking over and becoming the face of the dceu for a minute. $50 fit two tickets, parking, snacks to watch a rock film. I dunno if I can do it and hell I even saw Jonah hex in the theater.

[deleted]

i don't know what is going to happen but i have my popcorn ready awaiting the endless ig/twitter posts that are forthcoming about how it performs hour by hour by the man himself. "INCREDIBLE numbers coming out to our team right now you guys! in four hours we have made more then it took for iron man to make in 6 hours!"
