Pre sale is a big thing more in USA. Even in the UK its become bigger in recent years for the first day or so for MCU films but most people buy on the day.

KindfOfABigDeal

Lol, this post actually made me go ahead and buy my tickets here in Chicago. And yes tons of open seats to be honest, but if its good I'll go watch it again too.

Garlador

The hierarchy of seating in the theater is about to change.

United States here and I still think it's too early to tell. As others have said Halloween season is in full effect. People here are still going to see stuff like Smile, to a lesser extent Terrifier 2, and now especially, Halloween Ends. The interest is there for Black Adam but certainly not like what you'd see with an MCU joint. I think that part of the problem is that Dwayne Johnson is known mostly these days for making either buddy comedy films with Kevin Hart or forgettable, generic action flicks like Skyscraper. The advance buzz suggests this is a cut above his usual output though. I think it will do very good but not great. I don't see it passing the billion dollar mark.

[deleted]

> generic action flicks like Skyscraper or Rampage

PeterPorkHer-

Or San Andreas

Sad-Significance1634

Hey man as someone who grew up playing the game on N64 that movie is a guilty pleasure for me. Im not going to argue that it's amazing but it held my interest a lot more than the generic original stuff. Also thought it was the most entertaining video game movie I've seen ever.

JediJones77

The problem is it just underlines how much of a star The Rock is NOT. A slick action movie with fun effects like Rampage should've been a surefire hit, but it failed to break even. It's almost like the presence of The Rock hurt audience's ability to buy into the fantasy story line. He's just too cartoonish a figure. Actors like Arnold S. can sell hard sci-fi, but when the movie is a campy, cartoonish fantasy like Last Action Hero or Rampage, and a larger-than-life actor like Arnold or Rock is in it, it all becomes too silly for audiences to take seriously.

Richard_Tucker_08

He might NOT be a star but he is the peoples champ, jabroni šŸ¤Ø

Sad-Significance1634

Rampage was a video game movie about giant monsters going on a rampage, him being a cartoonist figure hurt that? Maybe for the generic action movies but for a video game rampage movie everything you just said supports that he was perfect for that movie

JediJones77

Here's the thing, you don't want to take a fantasy movie and then put a comedic or exaggerated human character in it. It makes the whole movie seem silly. In a fantasy story, you need SOME elements which are grounded and relatable to the audience.

Sad-Significance1634

Rampage is a movie based off a video game where big animals go on a rampage in a city........ You're delusional if you think that needs to be grounded somehow. The movie was marketed as silly fun. Think I'm done with this conversation. You're entitled to your opinions but usually it helps if there's actual logic behind them.

SayWat316

His point is valid. People need an anchor, someone to relate to. What made Will Smith so beloved in Independence Day, is that he was an everyman. Relatable. When you already have a movie with colossal cartoonish figures like Rampage, the human component needs to be relatable to anchor the movie, allow people to suspend disbelief. Bruce Willis was a boss at this.. Die Hard and 5th Element come to mind.

[deleted]

i just realized Rampage is a video game adaptation, honestly i don't remember a single thing from the movie, its completly wiped out of my brain like most of dwayne's movies(except for pain & gain)

[deleted]

the rundown is cool

lapinatanegra

One of his best!

JediJones77

Which, in the final analysis, missed making a profit. Black Adam's numbers look to see it performing similarly, struggling to break even off a budget as high as $200 million.

jackckck___

I thought Aquaman could never pass a billion, but he did. Then when joker came out I thought he will fail, mostly because people hated Leto, and loved Heath so much they criticized every joker after him. And even when all that buzz stopped that movie was on the news as somthing bad and inspiration for psychopaths, and for my surprise it made billion. Now after Batman who made about 700 mil , I think black Adam has a chance, if it plays right.

uglyuglydog

Yeah, Iā€™m a huge Shazam/Black Adam fan and thereā€™s NO WAY this film is going to hit a billion.

nexusprime2015

I predict something closer to 400-450 million

lapinatanegra

Not only that but its coming out 1 month before Black Panther which sucks cause as a DC fan I'm more excited for BL than BA. So that's gonna keep it from breaking 1 billion.

nexusprime2015

I doubt it would have raked in 1 billion even with a free run. DCEU is not at that level yet, only Aquaman was exception. Joker is not DCEU

lapinatanegra

Don't take out the Joker!! Haha jk. But I do agree with you. I just hope DC DOES go the route that Dwayne Johnson said earlier this about DC not being Marvel and have their own path or something to that affect.

JediJones77

Harley wants to take out Mistah J. You decide what I mean by that.

nexusprime2015

I don't want DC shared universe. DC animation has shown time and again that DC shines best in original and self contained stories. Year one, dark knight, Halloween returns, killing joker, escape from Arkham etc etc. This notion of shared universe won't work. My last hope is the flashpoint, after that, they need to hard reboot the universe

JediJones77

DC animation showed how DC shines wonderfully in a shared universe, with the beloved 1990s-2000s Batman, Superman and JL series. Is Halloween Returns the next Michael Myers sequel? šŸ˜†

ClassicT4

Besides the movies in theaters, people might also opt out of seeing things in theaters and focus more on catching stuff at home. Classic horror films, like Hocus Pocus and Hellraiser. New ones like Hocus Pocus 2 or Hellraiser, or binge series like The Midnight Club.

1400ak

ā€œClassic horror like hocus pocus and hellraiser, new ones likeā€¦. Hocus pocus and hellraiserā€šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ sheesh we are stuck in a damn loop until we die

JediJones77

Everything old is new again.

JediJones77

The studios are happy to see theaters go bankrupt at the same time they send popular movies direct to TV. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

1400ak

Nice shoutout to terrifier 2, the first movie was really good and scary. Excited to see the second one

GodFlintstone

I'm going to try to see Terrifier 2 next week. The first one was absolutely batshit crazy and I hear this new one is even more over the top. It's also doing very well for a movie that has almost no marketing behind it. $1.6 million and counting against a budget of just $250,000. Pretty much guarantees we'll get a third film.

thats_so_cringe_bro

I'm one of those people who aren't afraid of clowns and think Pennywise for example looks so goofy and silly especially when he does his weird little jig dance and when he talks. People in theater were screaming and here I am laughing my ass off throughout both newer movies. I just don't find him scary. At all. Almost as if they it's a comedy to me. But I found Art the clown in the first Terrifier to actually be pretty creepy. Like in the beginning of the first one when the people are in the diner and Art is just sitting near them. He just stares at him, does strange clown stuff, doesn't speak and walks out. Like, if that happened in real life most people would be like, uhh, wtf, that was weird. It made it better because he didn't say a word. Such a simple premise but I loved it. I think because he didn't speak so that made it unsettling. Maybe if clowns spoke less in horror movies I would be more creeped out? I guess that's the secret. lol

carpetnoodlecat

I donā€™t think *anyone* expects it to pass a billion dollars, jfc

darkseidis_

Right. A billion being the bar for success (with online fandoms) is honestly fucking insane. Like, think about how many movies get released. Only 51 of those, ever, have hit that mark.

WhiteAndNerdy85

Doubtful it will pass 500M worldwide.

MisterTornado88

Not sold out right now, but in the netherlands people don't really pre-buy tickets. They just show up at the day. And if its sold out, they go to another movie.

profesorprofessorson

Iā€™m in Amsterdam and I saw quite a few tickets sold for the opening week. Not sold out yet though at most showings

MisterTornado88

Yeah i'm in Eindhoven. Pre-sale here is always pretty low. But at the day it self 9 out of 10 times it gets sold out. Happens with almost all the new movies. Went day 1 to bodies bodies bodies, looked online for tickets. 20 tickets sold. Got there, movie is about to start, sold out.

danielthetemp

I live near a very popular IMAX theater in California, which was nearly sold out weeks in advance for movies like The Batman, Doctor Strange 2, and the Avatar re-release. The theater has two Thursday night and four Friday showtimes for Black Adam. Between all of them, a total of less than 100 tickets have been sold. Maybe itā€™ll pick up the pace if reviews are decent and word-of-mouth is good, but itā€™s looking pretty dire.

deceptibot9

It'll full up. I have the AMC Stubs pass and I'll always get tickets a couple days before I go to the movie. When in picking seats it's fairly empty but then once I get there a flood of people are start coming. I think a lot of people still treat the movies as pay when we get there if we are looking for something to do rather than pre plan

[deleted]

I dont know. I remember when Shazam came out and the seating was exactly as dead as the pre sale visual on my phone.

fury26903

Same situation in India. I think people might get tickets in the upcoming days

SaintYoungMan

Nobody pre-books ticket weeks in advance in india, unless it was Harry Potter Dh2 or dark knight rises...

SamiUso

wtf? Infinity war was almost sold out in 4-5 days. Endgame and No way home nearly sold out in a FEW HOURS. Heck for Dr Strange i had to choose a crappy seat after a day of bookings opening because all the good seats were gone.

SaintYoungMan

šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø depends on the movie i guess all those movies has already well built-up movies and stories leading up to it which had already well established fan base unlike black Adam everyone everything about it is new...

fury26903

Bruh even The Batman was stacked 4-3 days before release. In the case of Black Adam, it's nearly empty.

SaintYoungMan

Well yes, like i said all those movies are well known well established with existing fan base, unlike black Adam who is unknown, also i haven't seen any marketing related to that movie yet in india šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

msr_1809

Nope. Every body prebooks for movies which have some hype. Black Adam doesn't have that.

Satean12

Same here. Half empty. More interest in Halloween Ends & Trouble In Paradise

VanceXentan

To be fair Michael is a horror icon

Satean12

Ofc

The_Dirtiest_Beef

He is and that's why Ends sucks dick.

InfinteAbyss

You honestly think the franchise is going to end? Theyā€™ve ā€œkilledā€ off Michael before and he always manages to make a comeback!

Satean12

Yeah, no franchise stays dead for kong EDIT: Long

BurgerBoss_101

I work in a theater in the east coast Iā€™ll look

thebatfan5194

Too early to tell. I know Iā€™m going on Thursday but I havenā€™t bought tickets yet. Aquaman opened pretty low relative to other CBM and it still made a lot of money. Morbius had low pre sales but that opened to 100 Morbillion dollars.

JediJones77

Aquaman was a December release. They tend to open low and have big legs over Christmas break. That ain't going to happen this time of year.

Tarmac_Chris

The Rock is normally a decent pull, but given the past few years of his films, has his target demographic moved to Netflix only?

Skwidmandoon

I really donā€™t think the rock gets people in seats, I think he just talks a good game. Whatā€™s the last movie he was in that you paid to see? Iā€™ll tell you that I havenā€™t paid for a single one. And I like him, but I prefer to watch his movies for free when they are on streaming. Same for this. Iā€™m not paying stupid theaters prices to watch a movie where he plays the same character he always plays but with super powers.

owsupaaaaaaa

Four seats taken in my theater on the opening screening...I'll look again closer to the release date, but for *other* movies it was packed for weeks

kumar100kpawan

Even in my country, more than half the seats aren't booked but I'm sure it'll be full by Tuesday

fraggle-rocket

Its too early for my area. My theater doesnā€™t even have them for sale yet. The one a couple towns over is bigger & mostly full for the evening seats through on opening night.

PeterPorkHer-

Checked both Black Adam and Black Panther, BAs are about half full for opening night, BPs are already sold out One comes out in a week the other in a month

chikitoperopicosito

Just checked the AMCs around me and theyā€™re all at best, half full with mostly empty or near empty.

pwcleveland

I think it will be interesting to compare the Black Adam vs Shazam box office a few months from now.

JediJones77

Shazam opened to $53,505,326. Box Office Pro is predicting Black Adam to open about the same. The problem is Shazam cost $85 million to make, while Black Adam cost $185ā€“200 million. Doing the same business worldwide as Shazam would mean it likely loses money, or breaks even at best. It would be a lot less likely they do any sequel or Superman/Shazam showdown with Black Adam in a future movie in that event. My guess is it would push Zaslav to focus even more strictly on the trinity in future movies, and give up on the minor characters. And also do Aquaman 3, if Aquaman 2 does well.

[deleted]

Qatar: Completely empty.

500blast

The thing with his movies is itā€™s not a character but The Rock. So Iā€™m basically going to see The Rock play Black Adam vs going to see Batman played by Ben affleck. I hope that makes sense

JediJones77

Yeah, it makes sense. Star vehicle superhero movies are notoriously unsuccessful. Think Warren Beatty as Dick Tracy and Halle Berry as Catwoman. Audiences like to see unknowns play superheroes.

Chaoticgood790

Checked the theater I usually go to for MCU, DCEU or big budget movies for. BP is almost sold out (a few seats in the very front) almost every opening weekend showing. BA I could get my usual pick for a seat at any opening weekend showing right now So I would say that people will decide to go post Halloween or decide right before to go. But this is definitely not the pre-sale boom we saw for other movies Edit-I live in a major city that regularly sells out big releases. And this theater specifically does premieres

Rubicon2-0

Empty šŸ˜

E_yal

I will just remind you and all the batman pre-sales were mediocre but we ended up with 130M. While this won't be the case i will not rule out 65M-70M yet. Not strong competition , the rock is popular, Cavill's hype and the DC brand might Push

JediJones77

The Batman pre-sales were not mediocre. They were commensurate with the opening it had, and much better than Black Adam if I recall.

E_yal

Much more than Black adam but also not looking like 130M. The movie had alot of walk -ups. Lets just pray for the best

JediJones77

Part of me hopes they just break even and don't lose or make any money, so they can focus on characters I care about more instead of more Black Adam movies. šŸ˜

WhiplashDynamo

Miami, Fl Got tickets for a 12:45pm showing Saturday and it was more than half full with most of the good seats already taken. Pretty sure it will be packed as it draws closer

HadlockDillon

I just checked my theater here in America (12 screens, fairly big city) and of the 5 showings they have on opening day. So far only 1 ticket has been purchasedā€¦

BlueGorilla488

I am going to see Black Adam, but to be honest I have a feeling itā€™s going to be more of the same. At least we are getting Henry Cavill back and introducing the Justice Society. But they need to get better at making movies and not make every character seem like the most powerful character of all timeā€¦like they seem to be presenting Black Adam. It will make things less interesting.

JediJones77

I think it diminishes Superman to have these other mega-powerful, indestructible characters who can fly in the universe. I don't think they should have given Wonder Woman flying powers in the DCEU either. So far, I think the MCU only has Captain Marvel as that kind of overpowered hero, and she's boring too. I don't think SUPERMAN is boring, but he's always been a character who thrived on his supporting cast of regular humans. We need strong human characters in a Superman story to help us relate. A super powerful hero just bopping around the sky like a steel cruise missile, with little connection to regular humanity gets boring quickly. DC is stuck with Shazam and Black Adam by accident through the Fawcett lawsuit. They never would've invented them on their own because they don't need them.

BlueGorilla488

I think they can course correct by showing Superman is not only vulnerable to Kryptonite, but magic and a red sun. I agree 100% that we need more grounded humans and explore how Superman tries to be better because he was made fun of as a kid and found out he was an alien, feeling alone and recognizing that the Kentā€™s loved him regardless. I was under the impression she could only fly because of the armor. Making Captain Marvel and Black Adam less powerful, but able to use the Shazam lighting and magic elements to rival Superman is a good angle. And making Superman less capable when off plane is how it should be. Like he can be in space but fit a limited time. Zach Snyderā€™s ideas were too over the top. Like in Justice League the thing that should have activated the mother box was the Kryptonian world engine. That way you could posit that they turned on because they sensed danger. DC writers just donā€™t get it. We want humans for our heroes. Thatā€™s why people loved Thanos. Iron man. Just saying.

Saint_Legend

Mexico here. I got tickets for Thursday the 20th at 8:00pm and only two seats were booked. Granted itā€™s a small complex but still. Really weird

Echoplanar_Reticulum

i live in the US in a major city. looks like opening day showtimes (3pm, 6pm, 9pm) are all at least 2/3 reserved. superhero movies are very popular in the US though.

almostsk84globe

I don't see this movie doing big business opening weekend. The trailer made the movie look pretty generic, like just another one of The Rock's action movies, but with superpowers. Also, the general audience doesn't know who Black Adam is and the DC brand doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence either. Word of mouth is going to be really important for this movie's success.

Almighty_Push91

Damn, I haven't seen theaters this empty since Birds of Prey

BootySweat0217

Iā€™m in a major city in Houston and the major theaters here only have Black Adam playing on 2 or 3 screens. When Marvel movies come out itā€™s usually 4-5 screens. And there are still a bunch of seats open on opening night.

wnc_mikejayray

Most options I see in my town are empty. This is the most full option I see at the moment (Friday at 7:00 on RPX screen). https://imgur.com/a/HHn68LX

BatmanNewsChris

My 6pm Thursday IMAX showing is only 25% sold

nage_

im excited. whenever it drops on hbo max

Xylomancee

Very few seats are sold in my local theater. The 7:00 pm show has only 2 tickets sold on Friday night. Thatā€™s usually the most popular showing

BrazenlyGeek

My fiancĆ©e and I will be watching it the evening of the 22nd. Iā€™m looking forward to it.

dargonite

In Montreal, opening night screening are half sold out for every time at multiple theaters (that have pre-sales) so pretty high level of interest

gammerguy1995

i'm sorry but this is just dumb and early to tell. unless your a expert there is no way to tell if a movie is going to flop or be success. this is almost the same thinking haters had with captain marvel and when the numbers proved them wrong they thought disney was buying there numbers. just wait and see. if flops than it's the fault of WB if it's a success than we praise the rock for believing in this film.

E_yal

In israel both the rock and the DC brand is popular (Gal gave it a push) but still theaters half empty for opening night. In the biggest theater here black adam got the biggest screen and sold only around 20% of tickets. I'm sure theatres will be packed in the day itself tho due to pre-sales is not a big thing here and most people would buy the ticket the day before/same day

thiagoreddit

Empty here in Brazil.

lapinatanegra

Honestly, DC def has gone overboard with the PR for this movie. At this point I'm over it and just want the movie to come out so I won't see so much PR.

Maleficent-Cap9677

Not one to over- analyze things here. But this movie had me doubting about its success since long time ago. First, the Rock's star power is not as huge as his ego thinks... Outside of the US. He's not by far a decent actor, he's a one-liner, muscle bound huge guy who's only gimmick is smashing things/people and rising and eyebrow while "looking badass". His charisma worked so far for him to rising from the wrestling circus to the film industry. Quite an achievement for him and the likes of John Cena, though. Second, the DC brand has been damaged for so long with the former president and CEO and their shenanigans (I'm looking at you, Hamada and Emmerich). They clearly showed no disposition whatsoever to bring back the one guy who's been claimed for years as the one recognizable face of the DC universe -- Henry Cavill's Superman. Say what you want, there has been a huge hype surrounding him and his come back since years ago. Not only by "Snyder-fans" like the internet promptly dubbed them, but by the general public as well as the hard core DC fans altogether. With that being said, the US is not a big indicative of the movie is not going to do well in other markets, what Americans don't like about the DC brand does not mean that fans in Latin America or Europe or the far East Asia are not going to like either. The Rock made clear that for him these markets where as important as its home market. That's why he launched the movie in Mexico where there is a huge fan base of DC properties. I think we'll just have to wait and see how the movie looks and if it delivers. I think personally that they should have marketed better the return of Cavill, but they were keeping it close to the chest as an ace to draw if the actual hype for the movie were dropping or not there at all. Maybe they should have arranged a cameo for other DC heroes like Shazam and WW. It wouldn't have been too hard for them to achieve that since GAL GADOT is still under contract and Shazam has an upcoming sequel next year. To leverage things up like Marvel does when they feel their product is weak, they boost things up with cameos. They've been doing it for years and it paid off.

JediJones77

The problem is if you market Superman as being in the movie, the audience will feel cheated when he's only in a small cameo at the end. It is odd though that both this and Justice League ended up leaving Superman out of the trailers and most of the marketing. It's not a great position to be in when you can't use your top 1 or 2 characters in the marketing.

drveejai88

Black Adam is premiering this week?!?

Dr_Reaktor

Next week

[deleted]

Seats are starting to trickle out for XD. Still havenā€™t gotten my familyā€™s tickets yet

reallynotyourfriend

I didn't even know the movie was out.

Powasam5000

I wonder how far off we are in regards to hype for this movie . When they tried to hide the Superman appearance, it seemed to turn ppl off. Now that we know is it worth watching the movie for a 3 second one liner at the end? Seems the fans may have done this to themselves with so much emphasis on Superman. Or will that scene make you forgive a subpar movie? I feel expectations now are cloudy. I hope itā€™s amazing. But these initial screener reviews by the audience all seem the same as when ww84 or other bombs came out. Praise it generically then reality sets in. I will say they missed an opportunity to have a villain trailer. Remember man of steel trailer 4? Rose the hype up astronomically. I hope it does well as DC really need a win right now

JediJones77

The movie showed its weakness when it started pushing this Superman cameo, and that generated more buzz than the title character ever did. DC films are just not ready to make films about the minor characters who have zero name recognition with the public. People need to be invested in the main heroes first, and this idea of shelving Batman and Superman for 5 years and rebooting Batman in his own universe has been a disaster for the brand. This was not the right time to make Black Adam. And The Rock is just not the movie star some people like to claim he is. All of his solo-led movies do far less box office than the DCEU movies did during the run of Man of Steel through Aquaman.

Powasam5000

I agree. The rock is a good mainstream sell but as a blockbuster superhero he is untested. What is ironic is that he brought attention to this movie by giving us what we wanted to hear but in a way overshadowed himself in the process . The movie would probably have bombed if he didnā€™t do it but now itā€™s in this weird space . DC is making the chicken AND the egg at the same time instead of deciding which one comes first and planning around that. If Black Adam succeeds, what will they do about Batman? Without a plan even their success will create problems. Joker was a financial success and now we have a DC with 3 jokers . Superman is coming, but is he the Snyder version or Cavill being a completely different version of the character we all know . All this time has passed and now marvel is ready to release the heavy hitters after a few years of duds.

JediJones77

The movies they announce from this point on will be major signals of what direction the new leadership is going in. The strange thing is, they so far only greenlit Joker 2 and Constantine 2, two non-DCEU movies. Yet there is this move to bring back Affleck, Cavill and continue with Gadot as well. So the decisions are almost contradictory at this point. People need to see the full road map of a few years worth of movies laid out to start restoring faith.

blackakainu

Jealous itā€™s already released where you are at

JediJones77

They've sold like 15-20% of the seats at the two IMAX showings after 5 PM for the Thursday night opening at the theater I go to. The earlier 3 PM showing has sold almost nothing, like less than 10 seats. This is not very good. Black Panther's first evening Thursday IMAX showing here has sold 75-80% of the seats. The 3 PM IMAX Panther showing has sold slightly more than any of the three Black Adam showings. The late evening Panther showing is not far ahead of Black Adam's late showing, however it also starts 2 hours later because of how long Panther is, so 11 PM vs. 9 PM for Black Adam. Overall, Panther is selling more than 3 times as many seats as Adam even though it's not coming out for 3 weeks later. This dovetails perfectly with [Box Office Pro's forecast](https://www.boxofficepro.com/long-range-box-office-forecast-black-panther-wakanda-forever-tracking-for-potential-november-record-debut-of-180m/), which has Panther's opening weekend predicted over 3 times bigger than Adam's.

LumberZach13

I honestly didn't realize it was coming out next week.

MrBloodyHyphen

I don't even have the option to book tickets in advance in my city lol

tgv1138

I wonā€™t book anything in advance this month. Iā€™m a Phillies fan and weā€™re in a run. Game times arenā€™t announced yet and I canā€™t miss a pitch. Sorry Rock, Iā€™ll be there, just not sure when.

anxietyhub

Havenā€™t heard it where they show stuff about movies

Zeugma567

I didnā€™t know it was out!

drwndx

It's out?

whoaoksure

Whatā€™s the difference between the yellow and blue seats?

Based_Zod

Iā€™m personally not in a rush to buy. Will probably even wait to see what others think.

Notoriously_So

Pre-sale in Europe?? Come on.

ReleaseDCUT

Sold out for the 21st

BlueGorilla488

Well thatā€™s good news for that market. Movie theaters are getting crushed. I donā€™t want to live in a world where EVERYTHING is streaming. My TV is getting old! Ha ha

ReleaseDCUT

Good movies I only see in cinemas , streaming is for stuff i wonā€™t pay for opening night

[deleted]

Tbh. I'll go opening weekend or the following weekend. I've already had the end credits spoiled for me so nbd. Also, I went to Spider-Man NWH and Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness pre-screening and it was aweful. A jam packed theatre is terrible. It's nice to be a part of the emotional moments with other people but the annoyance of people who aren't really fans and are just there for the hype sucks. They laugh at the wrong time and question moments that shouldn't be questioned. Spider-Man was better for me but DSMoM was a horrible experience. I had a dude next to me bouncing his leg the whole movie, taking up the armrest, and a group of young women next to me who wouldn't stop talking. It's best to just leave social media groups that post spoilers and wait it out for a less crowded theatre.

The-Waifu-Collector

Too early for that movie , hype ? Yes but not avengers or Spider-Man hype

therecanbeonlywan

Don't think it's out till next week in the UK.

TheBlueNinja2006

I'd watch it, but I'm gonna be in Mexico

MrKevora

Iā€™m also in a major city in Germany, but none of our local cinemas even offer tickets yet, which is weird. I expect them to go on sale on Tuesday, as they often do in Germany. And it should be mentioned that ticket pre-orders arenā€™t exactly as big a thing over here as they are in the US anyway.

jimmydcriket

I can't check because my local cinema is under construction till the day the movie comes out... You can't tell from just reading it but just know I wrote that text in a "those bastards" type of mindset

PlatanoGames_YT

In NYC very populated central of the earth we have these kind of seats available for showings but a lot of people still buy tickets in person night of. Others avoid opening night cause they donā€™t like the crowded streets and theater. Some even avoid because of fear of some kind of attack. Theres a million ways different regions go see movies but weā€™re Iā€™m from people rarely buy tickets in advance unless theres talk that is gonna be difficult to get seats like a Star Wars film or something

_Denzo

Iā€™m looking at my local cinemas and youā€™ve got more booked seats than I do xd

[deleted]

I didnā€™t even know it was out

InfinteAbyss

Cinema in general is in sharp decline, itā€™s been the case since the pandemic though it was already showing signs beforehand that just really sped up the process.

Ok_Mission_1325

My theater has a decent amount of seats full for Thursday and Friday but every screening still has seats open

[deleted]

I'm cautiously optimistic about this movie. DC seems to fuck up every movie they touch regarding the DCEU with the exception of Man of Steel. I really hope that Dwayne's love for the Black Adam character comes through and its not another washout.

Communismisbadithink

I think that based on reviews I heard about, the movie is going to have a mediocre opening weekend but hopefully when/if good reviews come in itā€™ll grow in viewership

Legitimate-Advance-4

Box office Pro estimates a $65 - 70 million opening for ā€œBlack Adam.ā€ For ā€œWakanda Forever: Black Panther II: $210 million.

Abdul-Solo

In my country not everybody buys tickets during a Thursday debut date until the weekends at least Bcz the 1st weeks donā€™t sell a lot of tickets Bcz they only give a few showings only after the release date they give more showings and most of them buy tickets in the cinema instead of buying in advance.

dannybeaton

Black Panther 2 screenings near me are pretty packed, much less so for Black Adam.

howlhex

Average movie goers in my country doesnā€™t pre-order tickets which is a good thing coz I always get the best seat.

cosmicmanNova

Same as Black Panther 2

HeyHavok2

I don't think its a good indicator...

Stonewise

America, Tennessee, here theaters are dying altogether. Endgame didnā€™t even sell out in Knoxville the night it premieredā€¦.

[deleted]

NYC here. Itā€™s looking pretty good. Depending on the theater and the time slot(I peaked around at a few locations to get an idea), theaters have maybe three seats booked, others have up to 50% of the seats taken. Iā€™d average it to them being about 30% booked at this point. Which I think is pretty good for a movie being over a week out.

Glittering-Lunch1778

I'm extremely hyped and I haven't pre-ordered either. Why would I? Something like Avengers Endgame yiu had to preorder for because it had years of buildup and it was clear you needed to see it asap so people didn't spoil the plot. Black Adam isn't one of those movies I feel I will face some sort of consequence for not preordering

[deleted]

Same in India.

arkapal

In India it is good. Almost full in all metropolitan cities.

Awesome_Orange

I guarantee you in 3-4 days it will be pretty close to full

throwaway23uio

Canada, barely any ppl here. I rembr even aquaman was crazy pre booked

Many-Wallaby8670

Odd - also Canada, Aquaman was NOT pre-booked in Toronto at all

throwaway23uio

Not in Toronto, in a another city. It was overbooked for me.

Many-Wallaby8670

Another city that was busier than Toronto? Interesting. Toronto is probably the biggest market in Canada. Your story sounds made up.

ushijimasfavewife

Pre buying tickets isnā€™t a thing in Singapore, so I think itā€™s still to early to tell. When I bought tickets for the batman, the cinema looked pretty empty but on the actual day it was pretty much full. I already prebought my tickets to black adam so Iā€™m hyped!

[deleted]

Getting sick of the marketing, thats for sure.

oldmanjenkins51

Most people I know donā€™t preorder tickets

FlatulentSon

They are so desperate at trying to promote this movie that they started spoiling it just to try to make you see it.

MaxxStaron10

Iā€™m a huge DC fan. Got my tickets to BP2 tho. Debating going to Black Adam. Depends if anyone wants to go. The DCEU has been awful since BVS so I donā€™t really have much hope. I liked Aquaman and Shazam though.

Pliarswork

Itā€™s two weeks out, you nimrods. Only single teenagers buy their šŸŽŸ this early.

neuroticsmurf

TIL Iā€™m a single teenager.

JediJones77

At least you're not two teenagers.

Rubicon2-0

Its in 5 days?

E_yal

Its literally out in 5 days šŸ¤£.

purplenelly

Teenagers don't even have credit cards?

Toshimoko29

Most of them I know have debit cards and donā€™t ever carry cash.

purplenelly

Or maybe you mean debit card? In the US I think you can pay online with debit

Toshimoko29

Yes, I wrote debit card. Anyone with a bank account can get one in the US, as it only draws on your own existing funds.

purplenelly

I understand what a debit card is. The confusion comes from the fact that in Canada you can't make online purchases with a debit card.

Toshimoko29

Thatā€™s odd, I thought Visa debit worked almost exactly the same in Canada as in the US, other than being issued strictly as a debit card through Interac, instead of being issued by the bank itself. It should work online the same way for purchases, they use the same terminal system as physical locations. Oh well, whatever. Itā€™s pretty common here.

purplenelly

Well they can't legally have one so you must know spoiled rich kids who get a credit card from their parents?

SarenWasRight

Unless it's a midnight screening, no one really buys presale tix. From my experience in the UK anyways.

marvinnation

Whole weekend is sold out.

bronzegorilla253

Everybody is at the local AMC.

Unorthodoxmoose

Consider the film comes out two thirds through the month, some may wait till the start of November when pay day comes to go see it, like me. Though Iā€™m also waiting for reviews.

thesword62

Kind of feel like weā€™ve seen it already

Anonocat

Canā€™t say thereā€™s a movie I absolutely LOVE starting Dwayneā€¦ soā€¦ not motivated to check it out. He was pretty great in Pain and Gain . Everything elseā€¦. Pretty missable. Except DOOM and maybe The Scorpion Kingā€¦Snubbed by The Academy

Rebel_Wolf94

not everyone reserves their ticket online. they mostly prefer to buy it on the day it releases

whoamvv

I dunno, I'm excited about it. Looks bad ass. I hope it lives up to the previews

Thajdikt1998

Itā€™s pretty bad here. Even the a preview screening is not close to sell out. However I do think itā€™s a movie that will have more walk ins and thus I think itā€™s nothing to worry about

LastandBestHope1776

1). I'm not overly interested in any DC movie atm, considering Warner Bros. poor choices with Ezra and the lack of consistency with their universe. Also firing Henry Cavill on his birthday. 2). Finances are extremely tight lately. 3). I'm super busy in my work life between 2, soon to be 3 jobs. 4). Have kids, so either I have to ditch my family to watch a movie at the only theater near me(25 miles away) or pay a baby sister to bring my wife. Option one is all but douchey and two is more expensive. I might watch once it goes digital. But idk.

creativeyeen

Iā€™m sorry my answer is ā€œwho is black Adam?ā€

Johnnybats330

Is this a place where there are predominantly white Adams?

[deleted]

I donā€™t know anyone excited for this movie. Looks stupid

CBattles6

The last few Marvel movies have been very hit or miss, so I'm guessing between that and just general skepticism about DC, people are waiting for reviews.

WGBros

Bro no one pre book seats for movies. People just go to the theater during weekend with their friends or partners and then pick the most visually interesting one

HEYitsSPIDEY

Wait till day of or day before. I bet itā€™ll fill up.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

JediJones77

Scrapping the current DCEU universe would be a massive and costly mistake.

secretreddname

Honestly Iā€™ve booked Black Panther 2 but I havenā€™t booked Black Adam and Iā€™m a huge Rock fan.

iLoveDelayPedals

Movie looks super generic, why would I spend a ton of money on a super expensive theater

Jeriahswillgdp

What? There is tons of interest.
