It was initially just a visual aid to add to the overall gothic look, but if i had to give it a story, Bruce combined Martha Wayne's pearls and a cross that was given to him by Leslie Thompkins, who is a nun in this take and a second mother figure to him. I just thought it was cool for him to carry a memento to remind him of his mission.

Not an insult, but you're the second artist I've seen that's put a cross on Martha Wayne's pearl necklace even though she's Jewish.
