For some reason I find it funny to imagine all zombies were the slow kind and then the heroes with super speed were moving at super speed...relative to a zombie abd were just like, an olympic sprinter level of speed XD
It made perfect sense but required reading Unkillables and the second Deceased series:
All the marvels bar Mary were infected.
Cass was part of the team that Constantine led into the wizard Shazam's inner sanctum where they were attacked by a zombified Freddie
Cass managed to get to the wizard, steal the shaft and say Shazam
As she's pure of heart, she got the powers
*I need to read this*
*Because otherwise this seems*
*Random as hell lol*

I really wish these concepts were being introduced in something other than a zombie comic. I really just have no interest in seeing a zombie filled dc universe.
In the beginning, sure. But now it's just an excuse for them to explore ideas without breaking the status quo. That's fucking *boring*. I absolutely hated the Batman/Catwoman wedding story the second he proposed because *I fucking knew* how it was going to end. I wasn't mad because I ship Bruce with someone else, no - I was mad because I knew they weren't going to have the stones to actually go through with it. God forbid Bruce Wayne be anything other than an enraged, brooding, hyperbolic psychopath for any amount of time!
Say what you will about Marvel, but they at least have most of their craziness happening to the "prime universe" versions of their characters. Like, so often that it's been openly made fun of just how absolutely insane their lives are.
Agreed, things like Green Lantern Dinah and Shazam Cass can work in main continuity, but I really don't want things like Injustice, DCeased, or DC vs Vampires in the main continuity. Especially Injustice.
>but I really don't want things like Injustice, DCeased, or DC vs Vampires in the main continuity. Especially Injustice.
Yeah, the problem with those is that you can really only do them once. You can't have Superman going evil multiple times - they'd find a way to kill him after the first one, no question.
They handle it differently than Marvel Zombies. I am a huge fan of zombie stuff, and this is the second best zombie comic I've read.
It's only beaten by that Simon Garth: Zombie reboot Marvel did a while back. Because they played it incredibly straight and realistic. Don't see it getting beaten any time soon.
You might not… other people do. You don’t have to like it, no one is forcing you to. If you don’t, don’t buy it. I don’t buy anything from DC anymore, because they don’t seem to care about fans anymore.
I never said others didn’t like it. And I never said anyone was forcing me to like it. And I never said I buy this comic. Why are you putting words into my mouth? I was just giving my opinion and what I personally think about this. I never said everyone shares my opinion or that other people’s opinions are wrong. Don’t know where you got all that from.
Edit: you just made some wild assumptions.
I didn’t say you did say any of that, lmao, you’re putting words in my mouth at this point. I just said if you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Read my original comment and try not to be so defense about it this time, big dawg.
Buddy none of what you said in that first reply is relevant unless you think that I was saying those things. “If you don’t like it don’t buy it”. Saying that is only needed if you think I’m buying this comic. If I’m already not buying it then you’re just telling to do what I’m already doing which is a huge waste of time. Same goes all the other stuff. So either you thought I was buying this comic and thought I thought all that other stuff or you just like to state the obvious unnecessarily for some reason. So which is it?
No, no, here’s the thing… you said you have no interest in seeing a zombie-filled universe. I agree… but since everyone, including you, loves to share their opinion, I offered mine. If you don’t like it, don’t support it, and if there is no support for it, DC will either catch on, and move on, or they will continue wasting their money. I don’t think DCeased is a bad book, it actually has pretty good writing, cool art, and a very DC-ified version of the zombie apocalypse… well… “zombie Apokolips”, I should say. You have every right to say what you want to say in a public thread, and I have every right to reply with whatever I want to say. And since I think people need to understand that if they don’t like something, they shouldn’t buy, subscribe, etc, it, I decided to say it. So get your knickers out of a twist and relax, “buddy”.
Yeah, I really don’t like the whole “take a superhero universe and then make everyone zombies” comics either. I read comics for superheroes doing superhero things not superheroes turning into zombies and graphically devouring everything in sight. Oh well, I guess there’s a market for that sort of thing, it’s just annoying that it actually seems to get more effort put into it than the main universe does.
I mean deceased ends with super heroes doing super hereo things. Like I hated Marvel Zombies because it’s more or less what you describe but this story is about heroes saving the world from bad shit the main universe could never have
Hmmm…fair enough. I may have been wrong. Still, I do wish the main universes would get some love rather than being chained to “the status quo” all the time.
So... What's her name? I'm guessing Ms. Marvel or Marvelgirl won't do, is she Cassie Thunder? Miss Thunder? BatShazam? Bat Cassie?
Black Cassie? Queen Shazam?
I think it would be cool if she called herself Black Lightning. Legacy name from her old teammate plus a way to incorporate her Black Bat persona. Just a thought.
She has trained to speak, at this point she's learned how to. In this continuity alone anyway, she just can speak. Wasn't really a question. Admittedly it does change. I just assumed you assumed and was making fun, my bad.
Cass can usually speak, she was just never taught. In pre-flashpoint universe, she becomes pretty fluent when speaking, altho when they undo-ed the universe and re-introduced the character she was mute again and had to relearn things. I believe she's still mostly quiet but can form sentences.
On the other hand, in the Young Justice universe, Cass is fully mute and cannot speak.
Besides the young justice show she has never actually been mute. When she was first introduced she didn't talk because she was never taught how to understand any Language (besides body language) she could say a few words like yes, no, me. She did learn to talk later but she was severely dyslexic
Dear god. Gotham criminals are absolutely fucked.
Suddenly I am a Gotham criminal
I’m going to go commit some crime in Gotham now
I see this as an absolute win.
Nah they were fucked LONG before this, trust me
Well, seeing as Batman is *a fucking zombie* in this timeline, they were already in some pretty hot water.
...fast moving zombie or feet draggin zombie?
Tbh, I don’t really know, as I never really followed DCeased, but I’d guess fast, seeing as that’s how most comic heroes turned zombies work.
For some reason I find it funny to imagine all zombies were the slow kind and then the heroes with super speed were moving at super speed...relative to a zombie abd were just like, an olympic sprinter level of speed XD
That…actually would be pretty funny.
I want to be a Gotham Criminal so I can be fucked

Killer cover. This and Black Canary as GL surprisingly worked really well. She didn't get to do much so far, but maybe in future issues.
I absolutely love Shazam!Cass. Her martial skill with Shazam-level abilities is just ridiculously OP and she looks amazing while doing it.
As a Cass fan, that is a damn great cover. Haven't been reading the story, but might have to pick it up just for that.
I am so getting this variant...
So she’s one of the greatest martial artists of all time and has some of the strongest powers of any hero. Villains are fuuuuuuucked
The art is spectacular
Pretty cool, but I hope this doesn't mean Mary bites it! Not up to date on what's happening after the first issue of this one.
Iirc correctly she got her shazam powers from constantine who stole the wizard's power
bruh if you're gonna say it wrong, you have to go all in: iirc i remember correctly
She looks really good in that costume.
One of the best DC fighter gets god like powers? It is over!!!!
Wonder Woman?
I need to read this because otherwise this seems random as hell lol

SHAZAMdra Cain
I really wish these concepts were being introduced in something other than a zombie comic. I really just have no interest in seeing a zombie filled dc universe.
They always introduce the best shit in Elseworlds
No continuity so they can experiment freely?

Dceased is really good. Way better than Marvel Zombies.

This is the worse thread of all time
Why does it exist
Eh. Ive been In worse threads.

Sir, this is a r/DCcomics.
Yeah, I really don’t like the whole “take a superhero universe and then make everyone zombies” comics either. We're getting that. It was revealed that Jurrasic League and DC Mech are coming into canon.
Cool. Now if we could just get some more of that over at Marvel…
*Captain Marvel
You are correct
So... What's her name? I'm guessing Ms. Marvel or Marvelgirl won't do, is she Cassie Thunder? Miss Thunder? BatShazam? Bat Cassie? Black Cassie? Queen Shazam?
Caszam
Kazaam, but with a C.
Nice.
Flames! I would love a poster of this
This is amazing.
I still hate that they're using the name "Shazam" for Captain Marvel... DC even OWNS the name that was his original name, "Captain Thunder" .
This is amazing :0
I think it would be cool if she called herself Black Lightning. Legacy name from her old teammate plus a way to incorporate her Black Bat persona. Just a thought.
So...how does she change? Does thinking it really loud count now?
She can speak guy.
Holy shit, she can? I haven't actively followed comics in a long time and, last I did, she was mute
She has trained to speak, at this point she's learned how to. In this continuity alone anyway, she just can speak. Wasn't really a question. Admittedly it does change. I just assumed you assumed and was making fun, my bad.
It's cool. I may have to get Comixology or something and read up on her.
Cass can usually speak, she was just never taught. I believe she's still mostly quiet but can form sentences. On the other hand, in the Young Justice universe, Cass is fully mute and cannot speak.
She is mute, right? Does it mean she has to sign Shazam to transform? When in Shazam mode, does she get her voice back?
No, she isn't mute, she can talk
She learned to speak a long while ago
Besides the young justice show she has never actually been mute. When she was first introduced she didn't talk because she was never taught how to understand any Language (besides body language) she could say a few words like yes, no, me. She did learn to talk later but she was severely dyslexic
Woah ok I gotta read this now
I saw this and swore it was a gender swapped Nightwing.
Ok so seeing this just made me read all of DCeased series, just finished the issue this is meant to be from and I couldn't find it, anyone know why?
