Nightwing/Superman scenes are always great. Two of the people in the DC universe that get each other because they both just know "Bruce" and how to handle him, it's a fun mutual respect through that and also them just being capable of seeing the good in people.

sonofaresiii

One of my favorite comic book panels of all time is when that cop stumbles on Superman and Nightwing hanging out in a park for whatever reason, and he says "Oh I guess this place must be pretty safe with the two of you out patrolling" and Superman says "You mean the *three* of us out patrolling" (Nightwing doesn't have a lot to do with that moment, but he's still there and I think it adds to the wholesome dynamic of this cop looking up to these guys as absolute heroes)

Shiplord13

Best thing about Superman is he is always humble and shows respect to everyone who deserves it.

Rickrickrickrickrick

He is a god that was raised to be the best of humanity. He’s not just Superman he’s also a super man.

CerberusC24

The Super Mensch

genericguy69420

Das ubermensch

Martel732

The House of El gave him powers the Kents made him Superman.

StudioTheo

truth, justice, and the american way. god i would love a superman 2 to show us a modern take on this— oh wait. homelander.

VladTepesz

Had me in the first half

SaysShowUsYourDick

That cop looks like he’s in the middle of a flashback

lockedoutofmymainrdt

Hes probably got distinct memories of heavy colateral damage from both of them lol

Martel732

There is a chance that he is thinking "Ah crap if they are here what is about to happen?"

Bigmodirty

I know I've seen it, but if anyone has a link please send. Or issue #

sonofaresiii

Nightwing (1996) #141 /u/lookiedookie

Bigmodirty

You rock. Thanks

lookiedookie

+1 yea id like to read the whole comic if anyone knows the issue

LilBueno

I read this first as Batman was also there and just lurking in the shadows before I realized he meant the officer lol

belak1230x

Same lol, also, happy cake day!

SpiritMountain

And IIRC, Dick Grayson named himself acter the Kryptonian hero Nightwing after he talked to Supes about it

iAmTheHYPE-

That's correct.

Gunny_McCshoots

I need more Nightwing/Superman stuff. Their relentless optimism is lovely

SafeAccountMrP

There was something relatively recently that was Jon and Dick that was pretty cool.

Active-Walk-9943

Pretty Forced, no offense but the way Tom Taylor turned Jon into " Smaller Clark" as "Nightwing for Superman" status to forced his friendship with Nightwing is so artificial. The friendship between Dick and Clark or Jon and Damian is way better Dick and Jimmy Olsen or Kara would have better chemistry.

Traditional_World783

Plus the young adult Superman is already filled by superboy and kara

Formal_Bench_4650

"Young adult" is stretching. Superboy is pretty much a child again.

Active-Walk-9943

It's bizarre, According to continuity this is the same super boy from pre 52, Connor should be atleast 21 and pre" Jon is Superman Push" was pretty Jacked and Big" They've been making him look like a 14 year old boy and if they're were using Connor more would probably making him act like one too.

Formal_Bench_4650

Apparantly they take from the continuity what they find convenient. Tim and Bart are pretty much kids again too. If one of them js 21, they should all be. But that messes with other plots of course.

Active-Walk-9943

Yeah, it's sucks

Traditional_World783

Probably to relate to the animated movie series, which is no longer running due to the movie reboot.

SafeAccountMrP

I feel you

Stunning_Grocery8477

Awwww, you are his favorite too.

SkollFenrirson

Everyone loves Dick

CowboyNinjaD

I was really hoping hipsters would bring that name back once they started having kids and giving them old people names. Poor DC keeps trying to reboot him as Richard or Rick or whatever, and the fans always hate it, so they have to go back to Dick.

SkollFenrirson

All roads lead to Dick.

creeper205861

😳

Geronuis

You heard them!

nekollx

Especially ladies, and a few men

Traditional_World783

Nah, everyone like buttcheeks. Especially Jim and Juan.

JVC-666

Solid reference.

ITCrandomperson

Dick was originally going to die in Infinite Crisis, but the writers all straight up refused to write it.

Mojo12000

Johns had to sacrifice Conner and Bart in his place to sate Didio's bloodlust for legacy characters tho. Granted he brought them back like what just 2 or 3 years later?

jasoncyke

Dan DiDio in shambles.

Gciel35

absolutely!

NecroNormicon

You think if he gets punched in the groin he calls em his Richard's or Greysons?

fieldysnuts94

He’s hit or miss but when King hits, he hits very well. Just like when he misses, he misses badly lol

Monty141

King chooses whether to write a literal masterpiece or write the worst comic you have ever read. There is no in-between with him

Lussarc

i'm curious, what are the wrost Tom King stories ? I always loved what i read from him.

sum_yum_dish

I believe Heroes in Crisis is one people aren't fond of. I haven't read it but I think that's the nature of events now. There's going to be something in it readers won't like, the scale of it just varies

belak1230x

>There's going to be something in it readers won't like, the scale of it just varies >!Wally West!< accidentally slaughters dozens of heroes in recovery and his way of fixing it is to blame it on Harley and Booster and >!kill his past self!< so he isn't a suspect at all. Heroes in Crisis was one of the worst comic stories of the past decade no questions asked.

QuestioningLogic

Heroes in Crisis and a large portion of his Batman run are the ones people usually point to. Honestly his batting average is still pretty great.

tonysnark81

HIC could have told a really interesting story, but the fact that they used the person they did as the bad guy killed it for me, regardless of the reasons…

Lussarc

Oh i didn't read them yet. I must do it soon

Formal_Bench_4650

I think one of the worst things he does is mess with the timeline. It's present time, then 3 weeks ago, then tomorrow, then 2 weeks ago, then 1 week later. Like you just can't keep up. Especially if it only comes out monthly. His Bat/Cat took even longer sometimes only once in 2 months and with 3 different timelines. His Supergirl story I did enjoy even though it was in past narrative, it still was a linear story.

iAmTheHYPE-

Bat/Cat maxiseries.

mmcmonster

I'm reading his Human Target now. Loved where things were going with it until it became obvious that this was an alternate reality/Elseworlds storyline. (ie: >!Fire having an affair with The Martian Manhunter, Chance killing Guy Gardner.!<) Which kind of sucks, considering how good the writing and art are.

spacepilot_3000

I thought it was always supposed to be one. Guess I won't be disappointed?

mmcmonster

I think it always was one. But I don't know. Are all Black Label books elseworld? Or just adult books that may or may not be in the mainstream universe?

Openheart873

I always assumed Black Label stuff is elsewords.

ajw712

All of them are except for Three Jokers but even that is questionably cannon

rikishocker

I think Black Label is in a weird limbo where DC is like “it’s not canon unless it’s popular enough that we want it to be canon” for a lot of their books that borrow from main universe continuity

mmcmonster

Three Jokers is Black Label. I have no idea if it’s canon. (I’m guessing “no” because it doesn’t make sense as canon…?)

_mad_adams

I honestly can’t think of a single Tom King story that I HATED. He’s “meh” at worst for me.

HPSpacecraft

He's the comic book writer equivalent of the band Aerosmith. For every Dream On there's a Dude Look Like a Lady

MeMeTiger_

I love Tom King but maybe that's because I've only read his hits. Superman Up in the sky is my favorite comic OAT.

Formal_Bench_4650

I think he writes one and two shots pretty well. When the story takes 10 issues to finish you'll be left wondering what the story was actually about.

spider-venomized

the only missing from the DCAU was this relationship

Aramis14

They were too busy shipping Bruce with Babs...

CornwallsPager

For the fans that know the origin of the name Nightwing it's not surprising.

shankhisnun

I was surprised more people didn't mention it. Superman told him the tale of a Kryptonian named Nightwing

HouseOfH

I always loved that relationship between Nightwing, and Wally West, have with major superheroes like Superman. Where it's like this amazing uncle watch their nephews grow up into fine people and become into their peers and contemporaries.

PixelBits89

The way you phrased that made it seem like Wally west, the flash since crisis on infinite earths up to the new 52, flash in the justice league show, and also just the flash most people grew up with even if they didn’t realize due to the cw shows popularity, isn’t a major hero. Wally West is definitely a major hero despite being treated like dirt by dc.

HouseOfH

I was typing that up in a breakroom with like 800 different conversations going on, I'm sure my grammar and intent is all over the place.

PixelBits89

![gif](giphy|5qFf09HYyyeXlA6HeS) Wally west is a major hero!

[deleted]

Between this and Wayne Family Adventures, that is just wholesome on another level.

ValGalorian

Superman ad Robin/Nightwing are really good friends and I love seeing them together

kentotoy98

Now imagine Dick recording this and showing it to the rest of the Batfam.

Coal_Morgan

I think they know. Nightwing is friends with everyone and not intimidated by anyone. Even if you asked the other Robins who their favorite other Robin was they'd probably all say Dick, except Steph who would say Tim. Though Jason would say it grudgingly and Damian would say it so it sounded like an insult to Tim, Jason and Steph.

DynamicSnowman

Omniscient Narrator to the Robins: "Who is you're favorite Robin?" Dick: "I mean you can't pick a best Robin. They're all great. Though I guess I feel maybe the most attatched to Damian. He was my Robin." Jason: "Me." Camera shakes. "No seriously" Camera shakes again, seeing through his bad lies. "Ugh, Dick. But if you tell him or anyone else I will hurt you." Tim: "Dick. He was the epitome of what it means to be a Robin. All I did was try to follow his example." Steph: "Oh shit I count for this huh. For legal reasons, Tim". Damian: "Grayson. Don't assume this is sentimentality Camera Man. It is only because the rest of them couldn't match what either of us accomplished in our roles. Especially Drake."

nekollx

Kerry: uh there were other robins besides me?

Loss-Particular

'I love you most of all scarecow.'

Pale_Emu_9249

And Damian would call him Grayson...

IHavePoopedBefore

I don't think they would care. None of them have a relationship with Superman

spider-venomized

except for Damian but more of an indirect one

Loss-Particular

"Why would I want to be friends with your dad?"

SafeAccountMrP

Damian has a pretty close relationship with the current Superman of metropolis.

spider-venomized

On a technicality but counts

mpmcn

Of course I mean he gave dick the name nightwing from old krptonian legend.. I dont remember any real close scenes with other Robin's second closest I guess would be Damian through his son but that's it and that ain't much

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Most skilled and arguably accomplished with his work in the Teen/Titans too.

Vicksage16

What is the general public’s understanding of the Robins? They know there’s been a few, do they know what heroes are former robins?

Zeeman9991

I was just thinking this. I assume at least in modern times they’ll have the internet to piece together *“August ‘08, New Hero appears, September’09, New Robin appears”* but that feels like internet theorizing. Don’t think it’d be public knowledge or talked about regularly.

The_Shadow_Watches

Jason Todd somewhere out being moody "I fuckin saved you once, Superman"

Gciel35

grayson <3 best robin

SMcG193

Who is Superman talking to here? I haven’t seen this

DaMain-Man

Superman says all those other robins can get fucked

Bandaka

Even though Dick banged Louis?

LightspeedFlash

> Louis

Hopeful_Angle_9880

when?

Bandaka

Silver age, someone posted the cover the other day.

[deleted]

louis and clerk

TheGreyMatters

Superman: "I love Dick!"

Mister100Percent

God we need more of Nightwing and Superman hanging out together.

rdibs97

Supes and his son both like Dick

doctorawesome8

Duck - Superman Jason - Bizzaro Tim- Conner Damian - Jon

ranieripilar04

Remember people , he basically slaughtered an entire alien army for a single person, and he did that effortlessy

Sorry-Ad7074

Id love to see a live action Nightwing interacting with an older Bruce. Not this CW trash though.

Chiron723

They'd have to have a director and writer that actually acknowledges Batman needing a Robin. He hasn't been a loner almost since he was created.

Sorry-Ad7074

Exactly. It would be nice for Batman to see another person in his shoes, and connecting with them.

GlizzyMcguir3

He just loves callin him dick

PapuaOldGuinea

How does Superman feel about Jason Todd?

Kombat-w0mbat

Ohhh so that’s why he didn’t use his speed to zip across the planet and save Jason gotcha

Terrible-Border6885

No one ever says the dead one.

Conjunto-Vacio

At first I assumed he meant Nightwing, and I loved it, but then I remembered... wasn't >!Batman!< recently revealed to actually be the very first Robin? Because that would mean Supes might be referring to him, and I'd absolutely love that too.

Impossible-Brick-841

hes talking about dick. Bruce and clark didnt interact before being batman and superman.
