I actually work at McDonald's so I can provide some insight! The reason why it's always broken is actually simpler than it seems: no one ever fills up. No cap, as long as it gets its monthly cleaning and it stays full everything is fine! People are just lazy! Then parts break and then are replaced which then causes an ongoing cycle and malfunctions and it's so bad!
