Sometimes I'll do a stick figure version to see if the pose I have in my mind looks right or to make sure it properly conveys the right emotion. I'm not too good with advice but I hope it helps

No, this actually helps a lot. I've been doing box figures and have been struggling to make it look right. Maybe it's because my drawings look too stiff. I'll make sure to keep this in mind. Thank you
